Sun-Catcher

You're fading away like the luminescent rainbow
I've never been able to catch despite how tirelessly I've searched.
My nails are so jagged and torn from digging
for the pot of gold you buried long ago.

A glimmer of love scorched in bands of molten gold,
a butterfly sun-catcher filled with hope and kisses –
this is what I will always remember of us.

How many times did we shelter each other from the torrent storms?
We made each other fly; gave each other the wings to soar
peacefully high into heaven's depths of the midnight sky.
You're gone now – nothing more than a whisper of the wind
against tear stained cheeks.  Nothing more than a poet's prose.

A rich friendship sprinkled with candied love;
a treasure box filled with hushed secrets and lazy giggles.
The gentle rhythm of two hearts beating as one –
this is what I will always remember of us.

All my words are gone now.

my words are gone …

words are …

words.
make me forget
how to breathe

leave me with the
taste of your sin
they will lie about you, insult you, hurt you,
betray you, injure  you, set you aflame and
watch you burn. but they will not, shall not,
c a n n o t, destroy  you. because  you, like
R o m e, were built  on ashes, and you, like
a phoenix, know how to rise and resurrect.
