I'm Canadian and it's all over the news here, but I've never understood the fascination with the Royal Family. Seems like a waste of time to me.

Well known right-wing fraudster James O'Keefe attempted to catfish the Washington Post into publishing a false story about Roy Moore in an apparent attempt to harm the credibility of the Post and other women:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/a-woman-approached-the-post-with-dramatic--and-false--tale-about-roy-moore-sje-appears-to-be-part-of-undercover-sting-operation/2017/11/27/0c2e335a-cfb6-11e7-9d3a-bcbe2af58c3a_story.html?utm_term=.d2182424e666

https://www.politico.com/story/2017/11/27/project-veritas-moore-washington-post-261023

It's a little long, but a very interesting read that sounds like something out of a spy novel. Good on the Post for catching the woman with her inconsistencies, and calling out O'Keefe on his bullshit. It makes you wonder if he's working with the Moore campaign or Brietbart on this. It wouldn't surprise me if that's the case.

I'm amazed that this shit is legal.

Soon, Amazon will become the supreme ruler of a major American city:https://www.seattletimes.com/business/amazon/this-city-hall-brought-to-you-by-amazon/

And this is how democracy in America ends, not with a bang, but with a large number of people begging their corporate overlords to come to town and take their money away...

you say this like its is a bad thing. i say we just need some chrome plated prosthetics to finally make the world cyberpunk.

No thanks! I'd rather that they don't invade my mind and body.

You're just jealous that you wouldn't look good in mirrored sunglasses.

That's quite alright with me. I look better in black sunglasses anyway, and those are way cooler :P

It's not my intention to be rude to anyone at all, but I really do want to brutally frank: British people seem weird and silly to me. You have to make a big scene over it because of whose long ago ancestor you have. Actually I would probably bear the same ridiculous conception of any monarchy or monarch really. I'm sorry, but it's just so last millennium, seriously just let people be people and get over it, making a symbol of a being on account of birthright just sounds ridiculous and utterly problematic to me. Just make them all ordinary citizens already and you can be like me and treat your ancestry like a social gathering fun fact about yourself. (also whine about how Scotland doesn't repatriate members of the royal family XD)

Honestly, I'm pleased about all the news about the royal engagement that's on my Facebook feed. Prince Harry beats the fuck out of the Kardashian/Jenner clan any fucking day, and it's a nice break from Trump, Ryan, and McConnell doing all they can to fuck us over.

WindFish

While Trump continues to double down on racism, Justin Trudeau makes historic apologies to First Nations and LGBT citizens:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/homosexual-offences-exunge-records-1.4422546

This makes me proud to be Canadian. You can still love your country, but admit when it was wrong.

It seems that the Missing Argentinian submarine has likely met with an untimely end, and an explosion was recorded to have pinged on the radar of rescue craft.

You all will probably find this one hilarious, but in the UK they are planning to make Viagra available without a prescription: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/nov/28/viagra-will-be-available-over-the-counter-in-uk-says-medicines-regulator

The cited reason for this is so that they can finally close down the black market for it  ::)  :P

Sounds good for people like the teen kid I heard boasting to his friends, years ago: "Yo, I grub Viagra every day...". Super tuff! ;D

North Korea fires a missile, likely an ICBM, which flew for 50 minutes over the Sea of Japan before making a controlled dive into the sea. Higher launch angle than ever before, which means a potentially longer range. South Korea fires missiles over the sea in reply soon after, as a show of defensive force.

Migrants and Refugees passing through Lybia are reportedly being detained in large numbers by human traffickers and placed into actual slavery, with some reports claiming that they are being used for the Black Market organ trade as well. Ive seen a few reports saying IS might be involved as well, using it to fix up their own injured fighters.

I am surprised that no one is talking about a sudden uptick in human trafficking and slavery.

I disagree with the verdict of this case, shouldn't he at least be found guilty of Manslaughter? I mean if he hadn't pulled the trigger she would still be alive.

I don't think that's how it works, you're either guilty or not guilty. He probably is guilty of manslaughter, but that's not what he was charged with, so he's not guilty.

X3 this is why I could never pursue law, id probably end up cursing out everyone in court. :P

TheGlyphstone

It would violate the clause against double jeopardy, i think. Prosecutors will often charge someone with both manslaughter and murder, for example, because they hope to prove the harder charge but are more confident of the lesser charge. You cant be found guilty without a trial, and you cant be tried twice for the same crime.

eBadger

Yeah.  Be angry at the DA for not charging the guy with the correct charge.  Based on the article it should have been fairly obvious due to complete lack of motive.

Yeah, but in all fairness to the DA, given how politicized the incident was, they may have had pressure put on them to charge him with murder.
