This interest check will be more of a discussion to begin with, as I believe it has a way to go.

I've read American Gods and some of the Sandman library, and I love Gaiman's characterisations. Whether they be gods, ideas of gods, archetypes of ideas, culture heroes, dreams...the way they are created in human form, and immortalised in ink are pretty damn fascinating.

My pitch, to hopefully end up as a game, would be to invent our own original characters to interact in a City of our creation. If you're a fan of Gaiman, then you already know what I'm talking about in terms of characters. The entire pantheon(s) used in American Gods, the Collectors and nightmares from Sandman would all serve as good inspiration, and I'd like to create a world filled with these intriguing people, interacting with each other, with their own goals, pathways to power, visions, etc.

To those that don't know Neil Gaiman's library too well, I think a good example would be to take Scion and mix it with Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Sprinkle in a dash of Lovecraftian horror, a smattering of Victorian murder mystery, and a smidgin of the Mind Fuck trope, and I believe you have an idea of the universe I'm talking about.

To those that aren't Gaiman-savvy, this isn't another RP about gods/demi gods. It is, it just probably isn't what you're thinking. Imagine media and civilisation-savvy beings, created unwittingly by humans but more than human, living and breathing in your home town, with their own needs and desires and faults.

The setting would be the City, a cross between modern day New York and Victorian London. I believe it's the archetype of the City that matters, so I won't put any other restrictions just yet.

Ever wondered if serial killers, artists, musicians, politicians and porn stars were more than just human? Yeah, me too...

Agreed -- a very intriguing idea.  I'm not sure how it would translate into a rp, though.

Such is the challenge!

If you have any ideas on either character concepts or the City itself, bash 'em out here. Like I said, we're still in discussion stages.
