@Kimera - I sent you a quick PM with a couple quick questions.

- Update to a previous Question -
Quote from: ZephySempai on July 12, 2013, 03:17:53 PM
Okay Question Time! Say we have to roll a high number in order to beat a monster? Can groups team up against monsters and combine their rolls? For example, it takes 15 to beat an ogre. If I and my two companions all roll 6, can we combine it to a total of 18 and win the fight?
*After thinking about this further, I like the idea of making it a bit like an MMORPG dungeon. As long as one person is alive at the end of a group battle then the team achieves victory and the others get beat up but win too.

Translated = As long as one person rolls higher then the number needed to win, all players in that group win but the ones with losing numbers will take damage under the same rules as in the previous question. The further their number was away from victory the more beat up they were.

Chrystal

How about you put code for both tags and let us pick the one we prefer?

The green one with the stars reminded me of this...

However, I actually prefer it slightly.

Please check out my latest A/A post.

Now quite a member yet. I'm just waiting to hear back from Kimera on a PM I sent.

*edit*

By the way if anyone wants the simple "Virtual Galaxy Beta" signature code it's:

Moraline, I'm hoping that Silver's hacking skills aren't "metagaming"? I won't have her try to hack anything that would actually assis them in the quest, but that morph skill was something I wanted her to have and I figured if she created the avatar herself (she'd never be able to afford to buy it) she would have programmed in the ability.

The car theft was just something I figured would help...

The car is fine. I had actually mentioned in my last post about getting something.  The only stipulation about the car is that it's locked to this world. So, only useable here... AND Because it's school property and not something that we earned, we can't put it into our inventory and take it with us.

@Group B  *Take note of what I said above*

As for hacking the game to get Kitty form, I approve of it. Next though, ask first when it comes to hacking. I'll probably make that a challenge skill that requires a roll and restrict it's use heavily. You did alright though.  Have to remember it's hard to hack when all you got is the games UI to use (floating in front of you.)

PS: Don't forget your post tags.

@Kimera - Character approved!  Welcome to the game and to Group/Team B.

Chrystal

As Silver was hacking something she'd written herself, I figured it would be okay... But I will post OOC next time, or post IC that she "attempts to hack something" and you can tell me what to roll... ;)

STILL RECRUITING!

On another note... Keep your eyes open for more information about the many worlds in VGB, currency (VCoins), and stuff in the Worlding building thread:  https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=178983.0

Also, how's this for a logo? (I'm still tinkering.. thoughts, suggestions, ideas?)

Formless

I like the distorted theme ...

But maybe people will have a bit of difficulty to read it ...? But maybe that will draw them to click the link ...

Heh ... ok I'd say it's a cool one. xD

I think it looks good. Also, I'm liking the new worlds, and may have a few ideas to send your way, soon, Moraline.

I could see Kruglov loving worlds like Dust. In fact, I'm going to objectively state that it's one of the games he was fond of playing.

My name is Moraline and I approve this message!

((okay, my last logo post... I could tinker with this stuff all night.  LOL.. I already blew off some friends that wanted me to go out.))

Sorry my last post was so short.  I'm posting from my phone atm.
I don't play in PMs
Who wants to join an incest registry?

Download RPGs I wrote on my Discord!
So anyway I guess I'm steelsmiter on fetlife now. Hit me up and tell me you're from E!

Kimera

Finally caught up reading the WikiTube World posts.

Now I just need to get my character to find the others of her group

Looks like the guys driving the "Bandit Tactical" on Dust have run into one of Thali's cousins?

Please check out my latest A/A post.

Kimera

Looks that way doens't it  ;D

Anyways, I think I'm gonna let Thali start out in the park attending a outdoor art class before the reset happens.

I would love to join this game, very much into Sci-fi and all that business so that won't be a probem. Just a quick question though: does this game use dice rolls? And if so, can anyone please be as nice as to explain the basics of what it is to me? If I'm still welcomed to the game, I'll put up a character sheet asap ;)
~Do I want to be with you as the years come and go?
Only forever if you care to know.
Would I grant all your wishes and be proud of the task?
Only forever if someone should ask.

~Even when I'm clumsy, I'll try to make it into something graceful.

Dice Bot Simplified Thanks to the GM.  ;D

And welcome to the game. :)

Chrystal

Welcome indeed.

One thing that Moraline hasn't put in her screen-shot guide is that to send the dice roll to her, you need to put her dice-bot ID in the "to" box... (will be clear when you look at the post linked by Formless, above).

Moraline's ID is 17165 (on her screen shots).
Mine is 15512, for example.

It is possible to see all rolls, but there are quite a lot of them.

We'd love to have you join, feel free to ask any questions that you like.

As far as dice rolling goes.. This isn't a system game so there will only be one or two rolls once in a long while and it's super easy. Nothing complicated, just click on the dice bot (see images), plug in the number (which it automatically starts at the right one), click on roll, and copy/paste your result.

I purposely left out all the complicated multpliers, additions, all the calculations for defense, I left out hitpoints, damage numbers, etc etc etc... The dice rolls only purpose in our game is to act as a small element of chance one in awhile to keep things unpredictable from time to time.

Not even needed. As long as people link the dice roll using the copy/paste of the link like I showed in my screenshots, then it's more then enough. I trust everyone.

I kept it super simple for people that have never done it before.

xRebecca

What do dice rolls add to the game? What purpose do they serve? I can't really see what it adds to the game and what kind of extra's it'll give you but a lot of trouble. I've never worked with dice rolls before, so please don't take this as an insult ^_^"

Oh, and in response to you all: thanks for the welcoming messages, but this all sounds rather complicated.

True. I just think it helps... *shrug*

The Dice Bot isn't complex. I'll let M answer the other question...

WARNING: Long post ahead but it boils down to what's highlighted.

Basically everything is just a Freeform game. So nothing changes... until the moment that you come to a fight/challenge. Here's why...

This RP is built around the concept that everyone is part of a virtual world that has suddenly turned into a game of life and death. You are trapped in your virtual avatar and the only way to escape is to solve the puzzles, defeat the enemies and find the final Key/Prize.

So a lot of average people (NPC's) that are trapped in the world will just cower in fear and do nothing because suddenly they find out that they can lose their lives if they die here.

However, some people want to get out and are willing to do what it takes to finish the challenges laid out to them. (That's the players accepting the challenge because they want to get out.)

On top of that, there are prizes for the winner and high scorers. A massive prize for the winner that basically would make the winner the richest most powerful person in the world.

This all breeds competition. Some among the player characters and a lot with NPC's that will try to win not just to escape but to win the riches. There will be NPC's in game that will do anything to win, including try to kill your character (and maybe some players too.) NOTE: I'm not going to force or focus on player vs player combat but I will present opportunities for those that wish it. And there will be a natural competition to be the first to win.

.... All of this leads to challenges that will require dice rolls to win.

Some challenges might be a battle against an enemy, and some will be games that the character needs to play (for example maybe your avatar will need to play a game of PacMan to win.) I don't want the players to have to actually play PacMan, instead I'll just have them roll the dice to see if they can beat it or not.

Or in the example of a battle then you'll roll the dice to see if you can beat the enemy. Also the amount you roll on the dice will determine how easily you beat your enemy (or how badly you lose by.)

With these dice rolls in mind that will determine if you win or lose, you will then write up your posts accordingly. Also, based on whether you win or lose, it will determine what happens next to your avatar. How you the player chooses to write that out, is up to you (the player.)

NOTE: All of that sounds complicated but it's really just a single dice roll then the player writes a post according to the results of it.  What it adds is the element of chance/risk.  Without risk/dice rolls then the player would just write whatever they feel like writing. When you play a full on table top system style game the dice rolls make it more like a dice game and less like writing story... The goal of this sort of system is to keep it mostly like writing a story and having it only be a tiny bit of a dice game.

I hope I explained that all clearly.
