Whoever posted this lovely paladin elf needs to put their name on 'em so I know who you are here on E.  :P  That and I STILL need an actual character sheet drawn up for you here whenever you get a chance.

That aside, I'm gonna try to write up more stuff to give a much better idea of what's going on in Tal'Dorei as a whole.  Just a bit frazzled right now because my youngest brother is in seeing a specialist to hopefully get rid of his kidney stones and gallbladder sludge sooner rather than later.

I'll try to do more for Kraghammer and the other cities not listed in this little Overview, that can also be found in the Campaign setting information I've linked in the first post of this thread, but for the moment all of the big surface cities are taken care of with a general idea of what's going on.  I still need to get some good beginning monsters and much more plot related information from you, the players, BUT this is taking shape.  Having said that, you guys still have time to put things together, so don't feel compelled to rush yourselves.  I'm also willing to offer what aid I can to help anyone who needs it, just find me on Discord or PM me as you wish.  See ya!



Emon, the Capital of Tal'Dorei - Emon in the last fifty years, like most of the known world in and around Tal'Dorei, and as far as Vasselheim, has recovered from the scars of the past from the siege by the Chroma Conclave and later, Vecna and his cult.  While Emon's residents only received the nightmarish visions and whispered promises from the recently ascended god, there were still a few cultists within the city that went unnoticed until they felt their god rise to his new, lofty station on this side of the Divine Gate, thus they caused their share of chaos during those few dark days that Vecna had achieved his ultimate goal.  Just as quickly they fell, leaving an already weakened Emon that much weaker, but time has overall helped to heal the wounds suffered by the people.  While the scars remain, and with the rising tension between the Clasp and the Council of Emon, let alone the people of the city who can safely fall on either side of the 'divide', overall most people just want to be left alone to live as they see fit.  No easy feat given the fact Lady Vex'ahlia and the rest of the Council have started to try and crack down on the Clasp's movements, with little success.  It doesn't help that there are whispers of a traitor somewhere within the palace itself, where the Council holds their meetings, and where many people can be found demanding an end to the chaos and corruption that has spread from the city's underground.  Whether there really is a traitor among the Council or not, one thing is clear, they're losing the fight or so popular opinion would have the new arrival to believe.

Westruun - Despite the fact the Chroma Conclave sent one of their own to oversee the subjugation of the city, followed closely by the arrival of the Herd of Storms, the city has healed and recovered beautifully.  Unfortunately, the Clasp, while not a publicly known secret, has gotten their talons in deep in the city's infrastructure.  While rumors abound about a tiefling bard in particular, who's able to sway almost any crowd of rabble rousers into destroying themselves, or in simply turning them away from whatever foolish crusade they've decided to put together, nothing has been proven to connect him to the brutal murders of several prominent opponents that have promised to end the Clasp's slow and insidious rise to power.

Whitestone -  Under the protection of Percy and Cassandra De Rollo, as well as Lady Vex'ahlia, formerly of Vox Machina, Whitestone and its surrounding countryside, as far as the Alabaster Sierras, has known an unprecedented era of peace.  Even when the De Rollo family was far more prevalent before the Briarwoods slaughtered all but two of them, the peace has been far more potent than most can recall.  Magical innovation has taken a backseat, partly due to the anti-magic field beneath the castle, mostly do to Percy's fear of what a magical blackout might do to the city if it were to spread, to technological advancement.  A brilliant network of steam pipes run beneath the city streets, ensuring the roads and byways never need to be cleared of ice and snow, while mechanical wonders such as the large clocktower near the city's center, along with countless other mechanical wonders, are common fare for the good people of Whitestone, with new inventions being conceived every year.  Among the spreading corruption and dark influences of the Clasp, Whitestone is a bastion of safety and security, ruled justly, fairly, and gently by the Grey Council and their highly trained Pale Guard that was established decades ago from members both of the nobility and the common man, allowing the people an even say in what happens to their home, which they would die to protect.  Envious eyes however see Whitestone's hopeful atmosphere and security in a kingdom slowly dying, and wish to tear it down....

Stillben - The swamp side town has grown, but no one there dares speak out against their 'benefactor', a wizard that seems to know every dirty secret that's ever whispered behind closed doors.  Whatever his secret, there is one thing working in the swamp side people's favor, Addan DOES want the people of Stillben to grow and prosper.  The only downside is that he's not shy about using force and worse to achieve his goals.  As long as no one questions his power and authority, no one has anything to fear, but those who've lived in town long enough knows that anytime new orders come down from whoever he answers to, is soon followed by unearthly howls in the night followed by another emptied house, still full of the missing family's possessions...

Kymal - The flood of refugees helped to make Kymal the sprawling metropolitan it is today.  The outer wall surrounding the city is new and is still under construction, but there's no mistaking the strength that it promises already despite its infancy.  As for the city itself, the people of Kymal have come a long way, with a fully trained town guard, some of which number riflemen trained in Whitestone itself.  Unfortunately, the people are scared, between the threat of the Clasp haunting every city this side of the Ozmat Sea, and the ever increasing threat of monster attacks, it won't take much for the city to explode in full blown revolt....

Nicely done Keys.  ;D  A wizard or a sorcerer would be easy with stats like that, same as a gunslinger if you flipped those around a bit.  :D

Lol well, while it hadn't crossed my mind, I'm sure I could get a reoccurring NPC together if no one does something along those lines for ya Chul.  :D

Unfortunately, Crash has opted to drop out of this due to having some important projects he has to worry about in RL, so there's still plenty of room for other people to sign aboard if they so choose.  Myself and Keys are around to help if you so need it for anything at all, so feel free to ask us questions and we'll do our best to answer them.  See ya!

Just to remind people, I AM hoping to make the world around you, the players, so the more interesting and comprehensive of a background, the more I COULD potentially set up plot arcs with some further input from everyone here as the situation arises.  Besides that, I'm looking forward to whatever you guys have in mind!  ;D

As a quick note, one of the Mods removed the Discord link from the first post, due to the possibility of unapproved members finding their way off-site and seeing something they shouldn't or whatever.  I didn't even think of that, so I feel like a dork right now lol.  Still, if you guys need the Discord link, I'll PM or just put it in the OOC, whatever works.  I WILL probably be putting this in the NC-Exotic System threads, despite the fact I don't plan for any NC situations to pop up.  It's more to err on the side of caution than anything, but at any rate, see ya!

Probably best-described as "bi-curious;" she "likes boys," but in her time being a boy, she's developed an admiration for and curiosity about women as well.

General Description: Gil stands at three-foot eight and has a whip-thin build. Big hazel eyes with an odd hint of yellow peer from under a fringe of messy-cut short brown hair, with a constant little smirk on plump lips and freckled cheeks. Dressed in piecemeal clothing, or a suit of well-battered leather armor when it's time to throw down. Always has a knife somewhere, and has a fuzzy pet mouse named Snibbler somewhere else. History
Family: Gil is an orphan, and life hasn't really allowed her anyone to get close to. She takes it upon herself to keep an eye on the other underfoot gamine though; not in a matronly way, but more in a tough older brother way. Including kicking them in the butt sometimes. Tends to offer some trust to other halflings.
Hometown: Gil is an Emon native, specifically the upper slums.
A little about personality: Gil is a little standoffish and distrustful towards most; she wants to trust, she wants friends, but it's been a hard time for her. She tends to assume anyone who's nice to her wants something; and the sort of somethings they have wanted in the past is part of why she's taken to presenting herself as male - and also always having a blade on hand. Some would call her paranoid, she calls it watchfulness. Sometimes over-exaggerates her "masculinity" into a corner; she's tagged along to a few brothels with zero idea of the "then what" part (usually ends up just conversing with the lady. Maybe playing cards.) She has a genuine love of animals, which is generally not returned except by her mouse, who's getting old; animals spurning her upsets her more than people doing it, by far. For the most part, worships the Everlight, though maybe isn't exactly the most devout. Acts tougher than she really is, but sometimes the bluff works; is really a salty crunchy shell around a soft creamy nougat filling. Wants to prove to herself and others - mostly herself - that she's actually a good person who can be more than a guttersnipe. REALLY wants to ride a skyship. Might settle for a sea-ship. Miiiight have criminal connections, maybe, perchance... Is not very good with alcohol (especially since it's always served in human-sized portions in Emon.) Doesn't think it's okay to cry but is sometimes a hypocrite on the matter.
General Life Story: Gil doesn't remember her parents very clearly, and has no idea what happened to them. She does have a token from her mother that she has kept all this time, and thinks it might mean her mother was a wizard of some sort. Rather than a loving home, she grew up in the alleyways of the Upper Slums, scrabbling for what she could alongside the other gamine and Raccoons Of Exceptional Girth (REOG's, we call 'em.) It's a rough city in general; rougher for a halfling orphan of course, but, as Gilly discovered, easier if you're a boy. So she became Gil. Gilly cried in alleyways behind trash bins and when cats she tried to pet bit her; Gil was a rough-and-tumble guy who didn't need no stupid cat! Gilly missed her parents; Gil put his elbow in other boys' eyes and made his own family. Being Gil wasn't the greatest of course, but getting into fistfights and rock-tosses with the other guttersnipes was a lot better than what Gilly had seen happen to other girls in those alleyways. As the years passed, Gil got tough and though never strong, he was certainly able, and managed to carve out a little niche for "himself." Tooth and nail, fist and knife, it's a "known fact" that Gil Button of Salter Street can out-drink, out-fight, and out-fuck any other dude. Sometimes Gil pays someone else to spread these outrageous lies.
