IC Game

The System: Well that's what we call it. And who are we? Well we are sleepers.

The System: A program developed to allow coma patients to "Live On" in the internet. "The System" connects the patient's brain into a special computer in which the patient can use an Avatar to to connect the virtual world with the real world threw IMs, E-mails and the web itself. The cyber network gives them many chances to create a new world of their own fantasy and desires.
Cyber Network: The network sleepers use to "Create" their new world.
Sleepers: Coma Patients that are hooked up to "The System."
Avatars: The embodiment Sleepers create to "Live" in the Cyber Network and connect with other sleepers threw.
Servers: Each sleeper is given a domain called "The Server" to live on. Avatars can go into different Servers via invite.
Hacker: Living people that can control their own Avatars to look after the sleepers and their Avatars.


After a car accent left his daughter in a coma Dr. Vanrick created a system in which his only child could live out the rest of her life in peace and happiness. Allowing her to create her own world and communicant with the outside world. To most these seemed unethical, thinking the good Doctor was playing a roll of God. That is until his system went public. Now hundredths of "Sleepers" as they are called are hooked up to the "Cyber Network."

At the rip age of nineteen Ala had been hooked up to her father's system for over ten years. Her world now play out on the huge screen that surrounds her Server. Access to anything her heart desires just like so many others. Television, movies, music, internet forums, video games....she had traveled the world in her virtual world. Her buddy and e-mail list several hundred strong. Then there was the other sleepers, most of which she had befriend and "saw" on a daily bases. Her world was perfect. No worries, no problems, no fear of what the living feared. All she had to do was live her life....that is until the virus hit.

The computer virus that killed sever avatars and their sleepers with in minutes. Now with fear of death, the Sleepers loved ones have hired "Hackers" to guard them while someone tried to delete the only thing the sleepers have to fear.

History:
Why you're helping the sleepers:  Vergil knows a few people that are Sleepers, one of them being his own brother.  When he was uploaded, Vergil at first thought the same way as the virus uploader freaks and thought they were just wasting their time in prolonging his brother's life.  He hated the fact that his parents couldn't see that they were only hurting themselves and Zachery by keeping him alive in such a state, though when Zachery was attacked and destroyed in the Cyber World, Vergil was heart broken.  Now he does all he can to make sure no one else suffers the same fate as his brother, and mercilessly destroys anyone that would threaten them as a powerful Avatar user.

Personality: Cocky, A loner in all sense of the word thanks to her being hooked up to "The System" for a little over ten years. Able to change it with just a "command". She is the oldest of the sleepers (meaning she has been hooked up longer...not age wise) and has just about everything mastered. At the start of the virus outbreak she did not fear it thinking she could control it just like very thing else in her domain....that is until she found out she could not.

History Before the Coma: Lily was just like any other nine year old kid. She loved her pet cat, riding her father's horses and just being a kid....that is until her drunken uncle sent her into a coma.
What put you into a Coma?: She was hit by her uncle's car when he pulled out her father's drive way....he was drunk at the time.
History After the Coma: Ava is the first sleeper to be hooked up to "The System" and one of the few that has mastered the "Cyber Network" with in it. She normally keeps to herself and is full control of her server which normally stays really simple unless she wants to "Travel" or "Really Get Into" a video game she is playing. Enjoying watching movies and listening to music. Just living her life with nothing to fear. No wounder when the virus was uploaded she thought she could just "delete" it just like any other virus that dared to enter her world. That is until she found that there are somethings out there that are just not under your control. Like most sleepers she is not completely helpless; knowing how the system works and is able to put up defenses. But still like any other sleeper she can not harm the virus....but being in control of her world she can give her hacker the tools he need to do so for her.   

What dose your server look like?
Ava keeps it simple for the most part. A high tech computer chair in the middle of a dark room, the screen of what might be a computer displayed around her. Everything is controlled by a command or wave of her hand....the key board itself made of a light "touch screen". (Think the computer in Iron Man.) From that room her life flows around her...able to change it with a chose of a file.

I think the idea is the same with these Sleepers that live out their 'lives' in the digital world, but the Hackers defend them from viral attacks.  Beyond that I think the similarities end.

History: Jack was a small-time man who, for whatever reason, was unable to make it big the way he wanted to. He was smart, just not the smartest. He could be athletic, but the presence of the naturally gifted made him not even want to try. Don't even get him started on his so-called fighting 'skills'. The only thing he had was his imagination, and imagination didn't pay the bills. That was, until the virus came. Now, he was called for a very specific job where imagination was crucial. He was now a hacker...

Why your helping the sleepers: It gives him a sense of purpose for one; it also provides a sense of security for another. He rather enjoys the freedom of the Sleepers that he can catch the barest hint of as a hacker.

History: Jake used to be a so-called P Hacker, a hacker who used his skills for personal gain, usually hurting people in the process. But when somoene he loved was put in coma, and hooked up to the massive network known simply as The System, his tune changed overnight. He began to help people within the System, seeing that people such as who he used to be, stay out of the net. He's been working diligently since the virus hit to keep anyone and everyone alive.

Why your helping the sleepers: One night, while out with his girlfriend and a mutual friend, his girlfriend was hit by a car, forced into a state of coma, unable to wake, as the doctors said, for a very long time. He, too was sent to the hospital after suffering a glancing blow from the car. After she was hooked up to the System, Jake began working for the Sleepers under the avatar Arla Sedrena (Complete with a voice-augmentation software of his own design, based heavily on military technology) to anonymously aid both his girlfriend in the System, and others who needed help.

After being show the error of being a P-Hacker, he began to fight his former peers by keeping them out of the System, protecting those inside.

History Before the Coma: Known as one of the most caring girls growing up Nicolette always loved to volunteer at animal shelters, nursing homes really anywhere that she could help when she wasn't in school this causing her many issues with bullies. She acted in plays in school, hung with her friends and was a straight A student something her parents loved! But once the day of the accident happened nothing has been the same... at least for her family...

What put you into a Coma?: When out one night with a couple of friends around a few months ago Nicky ended up getting side swiped by a drunken driver... it killed the back passenger injured her other two friends and sent Nicky into acoma.

History After the Coma: Now she wanders the virtual world quite happy to at least feel a tiny bit alive, but hopes one day she will get to return to her family if the virus doesn't kill her first which she is starting to fear may happen...

What does your server look like?: Nicky's server is simple, but wide spread to a degree. She has a forest setting for her server that has a small hut where her technology of a cd player like her old life had and her computer which she uses mostly like she used to when she was alive only the keyboard is more just used with a touch screen.

She was the light and energy....the hope that flowed through the servers. She loved her world and the way she could be part of it. She always explored and played as she went. Loving music she could be found at any given moment signing and using the world around her to live the life that was taken from her. Beauty and life were everything she gave off and embraced. After the virus
Now she's always on the run, always trying to fend off the virus as it eats the world around her. She has seen what happens to those that get caught in the path of a virus. And can't stand it, that day her hope..her...light..died. She wears armor and suborn and brash. Always on the defensive as she lives a life of fighting, hiding and running. Seems like a over energetic knight or defender with no way to fight a war.

she'd say she didn't have time for movies anymore, beside most the site you can get them from now a days had the virus lurking in the shadows.

Favorite Music:before the virus it depended on her mood. But she listened to a bit of everything, rock, hip hop, techno, and so much more. she'd even sing and preform in her own world the Siren still let out her call back then.
After the virus anything to keep her pumped...either that or nothing the times where you have to hide you have to stay quite.

Favorite Web-Site: Before the virus, again ramble off her favorite sites one for what ever she was looking for at the time. gaming, music, movies, chat, and even a naughty one or two. She was even known to be able to slip into the cracks in the servers she came across and fallow lines and explore in them as she wished. Some may call it hacking she called it going for a walk.
After the virus she jumps past them so fast it doesn't matter, she takes back doors and makes her own paths to stay ahead of anything that may be on her path. Not sharing the fact she can hop in servers, it's to dangerous.

History Before the Coma:Before the coma Mina was a happy girl, her mother an artist her father a stock broker. He said she brought out the best in him. She said he kept her in line, and they both helped make this oddly perfect combination. A creative yet motivated little girl. that explored and loved to figure out everything about the world around her. How it worked, what it was made out of, why it was what it was. She loved art and being in the open, her mother letting her start to perform with the local theater group whens he was 8. And for the next 2 years she grew to be the girl that light up the stage even at such a young age. Mina love people and excepted them for who they were no matter what. So when her health started to fail her they all felt like they were losing a daughter. But she fought it for as long as she could to it started to degrade Her parents set to put her in a form a stasis. So she could still live while they searched for a cure.

What put you into a Coma?:The illness that attacked her body was to much for such a young girl. And it ended up sending her into shock which caused the comma. Her parents kept her under and put her here till a cure could be found and she could be safely  brought back.


History After the Coma:When she entered she was slow to react, but soon her imaginations grew as did her world. She explored and learned everything there was to learn about this new place. Even found her way to a server connected to the hospital that held her, she has a photo of herself as she really is. Not that she'd show or tell anyone. But she grew up here, learning and play. Preforming and being part of anything and everything she wanted to be. her light, her imagination, her joy spread all around her. And she found friends fellow sleepers. They learned and played together and became this make shift family, she became well known in their little world. greeting new comers and helping them. Her voice was something to remember, something she never altered even though she could. It was one of the things she loved about her real self. And she was happy here, in this world. that is till the Virus came.

When the virus came it came hard, the first day it took new sleepers with out a fight. She couldn't touch it, in fact it burned her so bad she didn't think she could fix herself. Then slowly her world started to be pulled apart, one by one sleepers fell. Even when she tried to fight them. So she retreated, pulled back disappeared. this world thought she had been killed by the virus along with the rest. but really she had been learning ways she could help. Learned the hard way she couldn't attack it...but she sure as hell could defend against it. Confuse it, and with that she changed and became someone else, someone that could help at least a little. Slowly the artist, the light, the happiness within dies but if she saves the rest then it doesn't matter. 

What dose your server  look like? it started out as any play area would for a child, her room and grew to a orbital connection she could walk into. she used the stars as keys and the planets as her screens they danced around her at any given moment. But now it was a cold futuristic computer hub, the chair she  sat in linked to a huge keyboard that she could reach completely no matter what. Screens pulled up as they needed and everything was organized and set.

Personality: Raziel is as carefree and fun-loving as he is a mystery. He has not been known to reveal much about himself to anyone and is considered a Sleeper equivalent to a loner. Despite that fact, he is really quite friendly when approached. He still blames himself for the accident that put him in this coma, which leaves him with a need to put others before himself. He is a perfect gentleman, which often leads to him being called a chauvinist by more independent women. Raziel has been known to be a bit forceful to get his point across, though he is polite about it most of the time.

History Before the Coma: Issac had a life that would probably leave most kids mental, or at least less normal than Issac claims to be. Issac was born in the capital of Maine to his parents Riley and Nichol Farris, his father a stoner and his mother an erotic writer. They managed to raise their son in a fairly normal home, though it was hard to keep him away from their respective quirks. Issac grew attached to The Beatles and The Grateful Dead from his father, and learned a love of reading and writing from his mother. If it weren't for High School however, Issac probably would have been well adjusted. Too bad teenagers always seem to rebel.

Rather than becoming a goth or punk rocker like most teens though, Issac grew attached to technology and computers, as well as grew a love for history. Basically, he became everything his parents weren't, and they still tried to support him as best they could, which bothered him to no end. On his 16th birthday, he built his first computer from scrap parts, and on his 18th, he programmed a robot for his science final. He would have gotten a full ride to MIT if it hadn't been for his father's knack for getting in trouble. Rather than making plans for college, Issac was forced to find ways of getting cash together to bail out his hippy father.

What put you into a Coma?: A few months after his 18th birthday, Issac's father was driving drunk with Issac and his sister in the back seat. Issac, being the oldest, insisted that his father pull over, but instead, ended up ramming the car into a wall. Issac's father was left unharmed, but his sister and himself suffered severe injury. His sister eventually awoke, but Issac was left in a permanent vegetative state.

History After the Coma: When Issac looks back on the two years he has spent in the system, he tends to remember the the day he created his avatar. Issac had taken his two loves and combined them into a form that he could be happy with, a post-modern interpretation of 1930's style. He spent most of his days after that exploring the internet and getting comfortable with his new life. He tried hard to stay away from other sleepers, only talking to his family for the first year, but once he became more comfortable, he began to allow fellow sleepers into his domain. In his second year in the system, he took on a more active role, earning him a reputation of being the person to go to when you needed a problem solved.

Since the virus issues have come up, Raziel, as he's known now, has taken up a defensive stance of other sleepers. He uses his knowledge of programming as a way to form battle strategies and create barriers to stop viruses from reaching those sleepers that can't defend themselves. He still longs for the days before his time in the system, though now he fully accepts that this is where he was meant to be, and where can make a difference.

What dose your server look like?
Raziel's server looks like a hallway taken from a 1930's era building with a number of doors. Behind the door closest to the entry port on the left is Raziel's office, which is designed to look like a private eye's office. He specifically modeled it after the office in The Maltese Falcon. On the right is a large study with seemingly a book on every subject, though in reality, it is more akin to a search engine. The second door on either side leads to a rest room and a game room, each containing whatever is needed for comfort or play of any sort. Towards the end of the hall is an elevator that leads to the "living area" which is a sort of pent house, containing a dining area, living room, two bed rooms, and a storage area. There are other rooms in the main area that are kept locked, though their purpose and contents are left unknown to most visitors.

History Before the Coma: Tomas was an artistic child with abusive parents, but their puritanical view of the world did nothing to stop him from taking up Fantasy and Roleplaying. the best gamer on the block, and the head of the local Gaming Club.
What put you into a Coma?: Living in one of the "bad Parts of Town" Tomas was shot several times in a gang related crossfire, and has been in a coma ever since.
History After the Coma: Unlike most Tomas has adapted to the net like a fish to water. 
What does your server look like?: Whatever he likes. His server is constantly being structured and restructured. depending on his mood and whatever he feels like doing. It tends to be built on a cyberpunk themed city, with his various safehouses and "Safezones" he has running he actually lets others in giving it a massive Multiplayer feel. after all whaqt's the point if you can't play with friends?. these are the places he relaxes, and indulges other desires and even his softer side. Being an adult and thinking of himself as a "Hardcore Gamer" entering his server is like stepping into a giant multiplayer game with no point but to cater to every good and bad impulse of the creator. The big thing to look for are regeneration points, Look for churches and clinics marked with a blue cross.
