Okay, so I happen to be itching for a fresh group RP, and I came up with this scheme for how to start one.  All I need to enjoy an RP is partners whose writing styles I enjoy.  If they have storytelling capabilities, that's a huge plus, but that skill seems so rare even among gifted writers that I don't always expect it.

Have you figured out the "Snobs" part yet?  Yes, I am a bit of a writing snob, and I'm sorry if that puts you off, but I'll bet that you also avoid playing with people whose writing doesn't hold your interest, whether they're Shakespeares or novices.  (If I'm wrong, seriously, I'd like to know.  Please PM me and explain.  :) )

On the upside, I think I'm pretty good at coming up with interesting characters and story scenarios, so I'm hoping to leverage that skill to my advantage, hence

The Instant Group RP for Amateur Writing Snobs Game

All you have to do is post here and tell me what setting or story genre you want to play in, and what kind of character you would like to play. Your answers can be as brief or as detailed as you wish. 

(The new Elliquiy On/Off System includes a fairly exhaustive list of possible settings and genres and even character traits, so if you want lists of options to pick from, that's a great place to look.  Sorry, no system games, though.)

Once you post here with your answers, I will look through your previous posts on Elliquiy and decide if your writing style appeals to me or not.  If not, I will politely inform you, and no hard feelings, I hope.  There may be mood factors involved, so please don't take my response personally; sometimes I want a description-heavy story with an eloquent writing genius, but other times I may just want some quickie lit-porn with a talented short-poster.

If your style does it for me at the present time, I'll come up with at least three story scenarios using your chosen genre/setting and character type.  If you like any of them, we'll fire up a Groups-Wanted thread to find at least one more player, and then do the game.  If you don't like any of them, you can either drop the whole thing, or help me tweak my suggestions to your liking, or give me another chance to send you different suggestions.

Three things to consider about playing with me:  first, I will want to discuss the game quite a bit by PM or OOC to make sure it's consistently fun enough for everyone involved; second, as you can see, I'm not a concise writer, so you should be cool with reading long passages like this; and finally, because plot and storytelling are important to me, sexual content will be only a small component of the game. That's not to say I don't welcome graphic sex scenes, but I expect most of the writing to involve character development, physical description, and plot development -- in short, all the components of good storytelling, not just verbal porn.

Incidentally, I'm open to non-sexual stories too.  And, I don't mind GMing at all, but I'd be thrilled if you want that job instead.

So give it a shot, there's nothing to lose.  Seeing my responses doesn't necessarily obligate you to do a game.  Hope to hear from you, thanks for reading.  :)

I'd be interesting in roleplaying with you.. I don't have much experience on these boards, but you can see who roleplays that I'm in right now plus one roleplay story I made with the prompt during my interview..

As I write there--I too believe that a roleplay is a story several people write together. 

Let me know--I'll come up with some ideas if you're interested.

All you have to do

A story about missing old friends.
A character who lost interest in life.

More comfortable roleplaying female characters. Real-life / Star Wars / urban fantasy (vampire, WoD) / medieval fantasy / Christian Church / medieval Japan / Highlander / LEXX / science fiction settings seem like more familiar.
Would play in any setting, though, if there's some info about it.

Great, several responses overnight.  Always a nice thing to wake up to.  :)

I see that my instructions need some clarifying.  I was expecting each person to specify one particular genre or setting and one particular character type, whatever they currently feel like playing.  So for example, the answers would be something like, "I'm itching to play a bad-ass gang member in a futuristic 'Mad-Max'- type setting"; or, "I'd like to be a ravishing, evil sorceress in a medieval village," etc.  Then I could put together some story scenarios that would make those things possible in a group RP.

But no big deal either way, I'm flexible.  :)  I'm going to respond to those who've expressed interest so far as quickly as possible, in the meantime any other brave souls who want to post here or PM me are welcome to do so.  I'm going to keep considering new people and suggestions until I actually have a game to play in, or until I run out of time.  Thanks everyone!

Rick, I thought you'd want something like this, but I wanted to give you something of a challenge you seem to be looking. A genre isn't necessary a setting and a character type isn't necessary a profession. More so, I was a second person to respond so I thought you'd clear the setting and profession with your first character if it is possible? That was my thoughs.
