What show/movie do you find yourself rewatching over the years? Have you ever analyzed why?

I find a lot of mine are maybe less because they were great (although they have their moments) and more because they are familiar/comfortable and came out at just the right time in my life. So maybe more to do with nostalgia? Shows like House, old Simpsons or South Park.

There are ones that I truly loved though. Like Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind or Kiki's Delivery Service (1998).

House is one of my favorites to rewatch as well, especially to have on in the background. And funnily enough Howls Moving Castle. Studio Ghibli is just comfort-core and beautiful to watch every time.

My most rewatched is the Pride and Prejudice mini-series, Sense and Sensibility and Persuasion from the 1990’s. Watching them became a family tradition, and when I grew older I would watch with friends as well. I wonder what that says about me lol. I guess I’m a romantic at heart. It’s the nostalgia and an escape from the world for a few hours,  with a happy ending.

Honestly, for me I find myself rewatching youtube videos a lot. I don't tend to rewatch a lot of tv shows in the traditional sense a lot, or movies, except if they are really my favorites, like Shawshank Redemption or rarified stand outs that appeal to me in some key way.

I have rewatched Babylon 5 a lot over the years. Keep reminding myself that seasons 2-4 are the literal handbook for resistance against authoritarianism. Last time was just before the holidays, when we got the (long overdue) Blue-ray set. Right now we're doing the same with Grimm. I had forgotten just how good, and how much fun, it was.
To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,
and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.

Oh same! I used to rewatch the Nostalgia Critics videos a lot.

I used to re-watch and re-read so much more before internet!

I think for myself it is the Greatest showman, catchy music and great acting. Either that or RWBY as I have seen it a number of times and honestly just great animation and character arcs and the VA is great too. Howl's Moving Castle, Whisper of the Heart, Star Wars Rogue One, I mean so many others really with great scores to them and yes I realize that is the sad one and to be truthful it is one of the few movies that is tragic I will go back and watch.

Every time Brokeback Mountain is available on Netflix, I think, "Yeah, I'm ready to get my heart stomped on again." The plot is slow, but it's well-made movie, and I guess I have a soft spot for it since it is one of the first gay flicks I saw.

I like to rewatch Tales of the City when I'm feeling down. Seeing the queer diversity grants a vicarious sense of belonging, I guess.

I just finished a rewatch of Mad Men for the first time since the series ended.  There were a lot of things that I missed and did not really appreciate or pay attention to the first time around.

Breaking Bad is a series that I watch again and again.  The story and action keep my interest going.

I don't really rewatch things unless I'm showing them to someone else. I tend to move onto other things because there's so much I want to go through. Maybe a couple of shorter series I'd be tempted to watch again, but most things I don't go back to. Specific scenes I'll watch over and over again, especially if they resonate with me.

The only exceptions to this are the original FLCL, and Over the Garden Wall.

Brokk

I have DVD's I've re-watched a bunch of times.  A lot of the Marvel movies.  I used to throw on Avengers whenever I was folding laundry for the whole family.

For anime, there are a few I've watched more then once with my son. Eminence in Shadow, Reincarnation as a Slime, Overlord.

Kakihara

I've recently started rewatchng Smallville again after falling off on the show due to life when it was first airing.  I have to say, for me, it holds up better than some of the modern CW DC shows, though I've not watched the latest Superman show.  Beyond the sometimes cringe effects seen from todays perspective, the more melodramatic and absent of costumes part of the show I think really keeps it still interesting today.  I'm only just finishing up season 3 but hope to get through the rest here over the next month.

I think one of the other series I do love rewatching is Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.  I've not seen them in a bit but I've probably rewatched them a few times over the years.  Yeah, effects and low budget parts don't hold up in the early seasons but the characters and the drama are still pretty awesome.  Might have to rewatch them again after Smallville. lol

Honestly, movie and series-wise, it would have to be some of the classics: Scooby-Doo and the Spooky Island movie, Danny Phantom, and Codename: Kids Next Door. They always manage to give me that sense of nostalgia no matter the time of day. I feel like a lot of other people genuinely enjoy those good old classics as well, whether it's just for the childhood memories or because they were fun to watch. Occasionally, they're out of pocket with some of the things they would say or reference.

Now, when it comes to anime, honestly, there are many I will rewatch. Tokyo Ghoul for its characters and story, Death Note for its suspense and drama, Durarara for its comedy, Fairy Tail for its story, suspense, and just, in my opinion, being a good long anime to start off watching.

ChaoticDreamSystem

For me, it's older animes such as Gundam Wing, Big O, Outlaw Star, and similar. Otherwise most of what I re-watch is fantasy or horror movies, or youtube gamers.

They’re a few series/movies that I rewatch when they come on.  They mostly have to do with war and/or comedies, with a few drama’s mixed in.

For example, once every year or two I tend to watch the entire Band of Brothers series when it’s cold outside.  Or maybe I’ll watch Saving Private Ryan, We Were Soldiers, A Bridge Too Far or The Big Red One if I see it on cable or something.

Comedies I tend to rewatch are like Stuck on You, Something About Mary, Meet the Parents, I Love You Man, etc.

Some Dramas that I can’t but watch are Social Network, Godfather, Spy Game, Seven, etc.

I just can’t help but get locked in if they’re on.

I am the same way with The Departed.  If it is on, I can't stop watching it.
