...of the men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

On Memorial Day we remember our family members, loved ones and friends who dedicated a portion of their life to our freedoms and in the end gave their lives while on active duty. 



I've lost someone myself and share this day with all of you who have had cause to mourn as well.

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
    That mark our place; and in the sky
    The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
    Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
        In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
    The torch; be yours to hold it high.
    If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.

Thank you to all who serve, and thanks beyond measure to those who sacrificed.

I want to honor those brace and heroic men and women of the Coast Guard who since its founding has done everything at the loss of life in no small numbers to save lives of those imperiled on the great lakes and the seas and oceans including foreign shores and rivers when called upon during war.

And next all the other services who with their very lives if called upon to be sent into the horrors of war and in times of peace aid the innocent during disasters. Including the National Guard and Reserves of the services.

And a call out of respect to our allies and friends who when we go to war and send our men and women to war and to aid others join us with equal value and determination.
