Thought I'd try to get a Black Crusade game going, I've been kicking around some ideas for a plot for a bit. This is just a check to see how many would be interested and what sort of story everyone would like to play in. When you poke in here, state what type of character you'd be playing and possible goals for that character. If you have multiple character ideas, try to include a goal for each.

Oh Black Crusade, how much do I love thee. :)

I've made a few characters for Black Crusade before (though Dark Heresy was my first Warhammer 40k game), so I'll likely bring my favorite back for an encore... often called "The Scream Queen" by other players. She's a fallen Sororitas to Slaanesh, but instead of just being the usual sex-crazed battle sister, she's basically one-part Noise Marine and one-part sex-crazed battle sister. So it's only half-stereotypical. :)

She sings, dances, rides a demonicly-tainted motorcycle, wears overly revealing power armor, does drugs and wields Noise-Marine weaponry. Rumor has it she even 'dated' the Daemon Prince Doomrider for several minutes, supposedly explaining the origin of her daemonic motorcycle and why it always returns after being destroyed. She has a huge hate for Grey Knights specifically, but all of her former Emperor's Angels pull her obsessive hate. She's actually a survivor of one of Matt Ward's "Khorne Knights" episodes. Background and character sheet all done up.

As a set of personal goals, she intends to see every "Blind Sister" of her fellow Sororitas fall to the Ruinous Powers at her hands in an attempt to make an army or, more or less, clones of herself... highly mobile hedonistic "Scream Queens" to sow terror and hedonism in the wake of their dust clouds. Secondary to this is the capture, torture or outright murder of the Adeptus Astartes whenever possible. She wants to show the Imperium that they are no better than the horrors they claim to oppose and protect others from, and in fact, might even be worse than, in her mind. But... what's all that being serious-stuff without a little FUN in the mix...

On the surface she might seem a little comedic, but with the stuff Black Crusade characters get up to, if you don't have a little comedy or light hearted nature to it... you might realize the depth of disgust and vile you as a person are engaging in. Yes, sometimes that's hot... but othertimes...

Huh, small world, i was scheming for a game in a month or two, BC is one of the ones i was considering running. Where you planning system or freeform?

Kevben Battleheart

Well, these types of games have a tendency to have a hard time starting, but if you can get it up and started...

I'd probably play an Ex-Red Corsair striking out on his own. Rather disappointed with Huron's way of leading, my guy would probably set out to form his own warband with the intent to carve out his own little empire and not lose it like Huron did when he first turned to chaos.

System. I have the core book in hardcover, which makes it a helluva lot easier to plan out a game and check sheets.

I'd probably want to play, not sure if it'll get off the ground though :(

ShadowFox89

I can try to make it get off the ground, but not without players. I will warn that posting will be slow, as right now I'm working six days a week....

To get a chance to play my Scream Queen again, I'll take a slow-posting game. Besides, there's always each other to RP off of. :)

I'm a big fan of 40k, but I've never played the system before.  Always willing to learn, if I can find the book online I'd love to try it out.

I have a Heretek laying around, he has deluded himself (or not) into believing that Omnissiah is a visage of Tzeentch. A former affiliate of both Hereticus and Adeptus Mechanicus, often coming into contact with Human Non-STC Archeotech in his hunts to root out the deviants going against the will of the Holy Emprah. Also has a keen interest in Artifical Intelligence, seeing it as the purest expression of technology.

And I wouldn't mind the slow post rate.

I'd love to play. I've tried running Black Crusade in the past, which didn't work out as well as I'd hoped, but I'd love to see a game that did. I'm wanting to play a Night Lord, probably a Chosen.

We were the monsters you wanted, the weapons you shaped us to be. We sacrificed all to be what you needed, and you dare .. you DARE .. censure us for doing that, for doing just what it was you wanted? We brought scores of worlds to compliance, and for every one we visited, for every one where they learned to fear the night, five, ten, twenty would surrender for fear they would be next.

We are the ones betrayed. That bitch assassin was allowed .. allowed, not able .. to take our father. To prove the truth of his words. Well, listen to the truth of my words. I will burn one world in the name of each of my brothers, and when the ashes of those worlds burn cold, my fathers words will be all that remains.

He has sworn an oath of vengeance, an eternal oath of moment, to make the Imperium pay for all it has done. He doesn't particularly care how he does it. He's as happy to cause a world to revolt in civil war as he is to assassinate the PDF high command just prior to an invasion by Orks or Dark Eldar, or drop an asteroid onto the worlds capital. He knows he won't be able to wreak his vengeance alone, but there are plenty of tools he can use along the way.

Looks like we have the interest.... we just need concepts ;)

For stats, we'll do points allocation (100 to spread between 9 stats with a base of 30 in each for CSM and 25 in each for humans). This means no one has to suck because of bad rolls.

Keep in mind I do enjoy me some nice things in the extreme side.... if you aren't a fan of tentacles and non-con, probably best not to join in this (then again, non-con and tentacles is what Slaanesh is about!)

Any objection to my taking a Stalker pattern bolter rather than the regular kind? I'm seeing if I can use the starting Legacy weapon rules from the Tome of Blood to make something suitable :) Legacy of Betrayal seems nicely fitting :)

Background

A young woman raised in the Schola Progenium, Belliala grew up believing everything the Ecclesiarchy and the Inquisition shoved down her throats. She believed every story, every lie and every image fed to her from the moment the church took her in when her parents perished in a ork invasion when she was just a child. Having been whisked away to a monastery to become a Adeptus Sororitas, Belliala grew up with hate and fury as her daily bread, a meal she devoured along with the worship of her one true God Emperor.

It wasn't until her coven, on a distant planet and removed from the majority of the Imperium's activities, were visited by a group of Grey Knights. The coven welcomed the angels with open arms and celebrations were nearly beginning when, without warning or provocation, the Grey Knights mercilessly began to slaughter her sisters. So shocked were they that is was over in mere seconds, no sister able to even raise a bolter against the Astartes. Belliala had been sent off by her Cannoness on an errand to make ready for the Knight's arrival, and it was in a moment of weakness she had paused for but a few moments to indulge herself at a small grove that saw her arrival just as the Grey Knights began desecrating her sister's bodies and smearing their blood across their armor.

She could not comprehend what she was to bare witness to. Over hours she watched them ordain themselves in her sister's blood as she watched from behind the vault door of the coven. Protected from the auspex scans of the knights, she could only stare in awe at the deeds before her. Everything in her body knew what she saw was heresy of the highest order, the death of her friends and superiors was unthinkable, but it was all done by her God Emperor's Angels, his most holy and uncorruptable angels. Her mind could not bare the strain.

That evening as the knights began to venture from the coven towards some distant goal, Belliala watched a lone knight remain behind, for what purpose she did not know, but her mind demanded revenge, but not revenge of blood, but revenge of pain and torment. With her training and a mirade of weapons available to her, it was a simple task of ambushing the knight and in one clean motion disabling his armor's power generator. Without the ability to call for aid or to oppose her, the marine was helpless as the falling sister strung up the blood-adorned knight and began to sing.

She had long enjoyed singing out the glorious praises of her God Emperor, her voice joining a grande chorus with her sisters. But that night, for the first time in many years, she sang out with only her voice. A new song of worship slipped to her lips as she proceeded to engage in hours of rigorous torture of her 'plaything'. She called out in denouncement of the God Emperor, denouncing his angels and denouncing the Imperium itself for all time. It would be days before the knight's fellows would return, and when they did, all that was left behind was the hardened blood of their battle brother.

The very warp had come for her, had whisked her, her fallen sisters, and her 'plaything' deep into the Eye of Terror. A song at her lips for Slaanesh, Belliala gifted her tortured Grey Knight to a great Daemon Prince of Slaanesh, a gift the creature could enjoy for all time, if only she could be allowed to stay and bring a song of damnation to all the Imperium. And sing the Daemon Prince did have her do. So glorious was her song, so enthralling her performances against the Imperium, that she drew a great deal of attention within the Warp. As one of few Sororitas who have fallen, Belliala was visited on numerous occasions by powerful entities in the warp... some to bestow favor, and others to seek a piece of her flesh. She accumulated treasures and trinkets, as well as countless offers of companionship...

One such Daemon to "offer" himself, proclaimed his name to be "Doomrider", a prince of Slaanesh and all vices within. Their meeting was over in moments, one part rape, one part courtship, one part date and one part 'messy breakup' all in the span of moments. An excess fueled few moments the like that Belliala had never experienced before, and likely never would again. When it was all said and done, and she lay passed out across a discarded daemonic combat bike the prince had left in the chaos, Belliala found herself changed forever. Her skin had become unnatural, her body and soul infused with the very essence of her Dark God... she had far more in common with the Daemonettes she summoned and bargained with than humanity anymore. Her mission was unchanged, however... her former Sisters still remained ignorant of the truth. A truth she intended to scream at them with all the intensity Slaanesh had to offer.

Still working on a concept, leaning towards Renegade at the moment though.  Probably heavy weapons, but that depends on if I can pull enough shenanagans to start with Terminator Armour to help make up for being otherwise squishy.

I didn't realise quite how much additional XP those were worth. I'll see how close to the Night Lord I can build using the regular CSM rules. The Legion special abilities might be the only thing that I can't work around.

Lol, well then I think I'll retract my previous question. Didn't think there would be that big of a gap between the Core and Advance.

No need really, Its fairly common for BC games. They either go core only, or they include Adv archtypes and give anyone who uses a core archtype the listed buff which is 3600(+1000 normal starting exp) for humans, as well as +3inf and +5Corr per full 1k, with alignment checked after All exp is spent.

Though checking after spending 2k is a common house rule to discourage people from splurging on expensive advances from the other gods that might be too costly later, and filling it in with lots of cheap advances for their god so they have enough difference to align properly.

So humans get +3600exp(4600 total)/+9Infamy/+15 Corruption), while CSM get +3100exp(3600 total)/+9Infamy/+15 Corruption

HairyHeretic
