The news articles below appeared over the last couple of days and got me wondering about how genuine charitable acts by celebrities are :

The sentence that caught my eye in the Amy Adams story was this

Adams was then seated nest to Huffington Post journalist Ernest Owens, who Tweeted a selfie with her.

Putting the Mail's typo to one side(seriously it's "next to" not "nest to") what were the odds that that Amy Adams just happened to be re-seated next to a journalist?

As for Brendan O'Carroll, he hasn't given any money away he's invested it. And if O'Carroll is honest the €30,000 he invested bought him more than €30,000 worth of advertising for his movie.

I'm sure neither the solider or businessman care about the intentions of the people being charitable, but is it really charity if there are ulterior motives?

I have always viewed these types of celebrity stories as more of a PR effort than true charity, but at the end of the day they are helping people and/or showing respect in the process, so I don't see anything wrong with it at all.

Yea, in the grand scheme of things... whatever. It's possibly the least offensive thing our media encourages so let's not mess with it.

One thing that bugs me is the way that video about Amy Adams explicitly states that Amy didn't want any attention for what she did, as if that's much to her credit, whilst blatantly ignoring her request.

Personally, I am pleased to see some good news around the place for once. So much of he mainstream reported news is depressing, I am happy to see good things reported.
