It's on page two of this thread. :)

Throwing this one out there to see if anyone is interested - given that the Ministry school took up 5 years of these kids lives, I imagine the old hormones got going in the latter half of that... so if anyone would like to discuss a possible romantic relationship with Minty I am open to all ideas - even a boyfriend and a first kiss and a few dates that subsequently foundered or things along those lines.

Question for the GMs:

How are we going to avoid mass scenes where we have 25 people in character in a single scene?  I foresee people getting confused and the scenes getting held up when one person involved in the scene is inevitably unable to post for a week or two.  That's fine when there are only a handful of characters in a scene, but when you have two dozen?  I'm afraid it's going to be absolutely crazy unless groups are split up somehow.  Note that this isn't to tell you guys how to run things or even to make a suggestion... it's honestly just a question that's been on my mind for a bit now.

Me and goldie should have character sheets up tonight or tomorrow.
If you know me personally, you know how to contact me.

Nadir

Awesome!

So glad to see you two joining ^_^

SinXAzgard21

Also, did anyone else notice that the road from the castle to the front gate looks like a penis in the grounds drawing?
EDIT: Apologies if this was already brought up.
If you know me personally, you know how to contact me.

While we have not fully discussed this quite yet (Kendra and I), we will try to utilize some of the methods we have used in Camp Jupiter.

We will have multiple threads, class rooms, social areas to utilize, common rooms, school areas etc for people to use. At start the Great Hall will be crazy but we hope people will utilize the tagging system and for the most part be speaking within their tables.

The game is mostly free form, we will have classes and extra stuff going on but it will be up to the player to make their adventure with us the Gms there to move the story along before things go stale.

Part of the character relationship thread is for you guys to mingle with one another and make your adventures. We will make private threads for you guys as needed.

Welcome to the game Goldie and Sin, we will add you into the current round of review on the sheets.

Caela

Kendra and Aiden, for the more advanced (University) classes, do you want us to pm you which classes we'd like to be taking or are you going to assign them to us?

CurvyKitten

OH I was wondering if you guys would like me to work up a class schedule like I did for the X-men thread? If you pm the classes, days, if you want which teachers are doing that class and so forth. I can even see about working on which student is taking what if you list that for me. Put it in a calendar or graph like I did for the other thread. That is if you want me too. Just offering to help is all, plus my OCDness actually likes to do it. lolz

Something that I can't decide how you plan to balance this, and its got me genuinely confused - in the books the story starts with the kids aged 11, obviously for E's purposes the story starts at Hogwarts with them aged 16. The period from 11 to 16 at the Ministry school where you say they use practice wands and such - how much else is learned there? Or are we in effect postponing the start of their main academic studies for 5 years - so that in effect the 16 year olds are now learning what Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco et al, all started learning at age 11?

If various spells, skills, broomstick flying, duelling and such HAS been mastered at the Ministry School, what method is in place to say how much each of our characters already knows and how good they are at it?

Finally, how does this affect the skills and spell knowledge of the older students in the game since they came up through the same system?

Amelita

I think all that's in the wiki. But, I could be wrong.

Yes. I know. I did read all that, but it doesn't answer my questions.

For example Wizards don't get their wands and brooms now until age 16 in their first year of Hogwarts and until then have done only theory studies in charms, etc. No potions studies at all it seems, and no DADA. Since only practice wands have been issued then the students would have only very limited spell casting ability, etc, etc.

Yet I can imagine some players wanting their characters to have flying skills prior to getting their first broom, and so on, so I'm mostly asking is there much or any restraint on our characters skills they developed at the Ministry school or will we all just be able to say what we like about the skill/knowledge level (which I fear could get unrealistic as some players will want their characters to head off towards being powerful wizards).

I have this worry that unless there's a system of sorts in place to limit what characters have learned already, we might get players claiming powers and skills that are too strong.

Also for the 4th and 5th years in the game, their actual learning process should have been retarded somewhat so they probably have skills equivalent to 2nd and 3rd years in Harry's time.

Bottom line is: how skilled and knowledable is the average student when they leave the Ministry school compared to a student of equivalent age in Harry's day?

The first year at Hogwarts will be a SIGNIFICANT spike in difficulty for the students. For the most part they practiced theory and got most of the "boring" subjects out of the way. You wouldn't be really able to compare "this setting" and the one from the books, since some things had to change(to follow board rules). Students would be finishing school a year later if we did not change the age range and we felt the allure of a Hogwarts game was actually being at the castle. Who wants to come in as a age 22 paper pusher for the ministry.  XD

We are giving players free range on how "good" they are as wizards but we do have optional systems if you wish to duel/play quidditch that is a simple system. (which we will test when the game starts)

Optional meaning- If you want to duel (join the dueling club), you have to use out system. BUT if you wish to duel for the hell of it, as long as you and the person involved can resolve it with out drama, go right ahead!

As for what sets apart a 1st and 5th year, those optional systems have a way that some of you can use, but we have not released it yet. (final tweaks)

We won't be having a class schedule, we will let people make their own schedules, classes will be free form with post from time to time from a professor. Thank you for the offer.

We will tackle that IC perhaps with a separate orientation or one on one with your HoH.

When the current first year students were 1st years at the ministry, was my character (Hogwaqrts 5th year) a 1st year at Hogwarts or a last year at the Ministry?

Aiden

Yes, since they are only separated by four years, he would have been in his last year at the Ministry before moving on. Whether he kept contact with others is up to you and any friendships/relationships you made.

LunarSage

Alright... though I really have to wonder if a "Senior" would have even bothered getting to know the "Freshmen".  I know none of the Seniors at my high school ever associated with Freshmen.

Lol, senior males, at my high school, regarded freshman as easy targets for...well, less than proper things. Your character doesn't seem like the type though. :)

Heh I'm sure he would have... but other than that he probably would not have paid much attention to them.  :-)

Great! I was going to keep the relationship like that!

Haibane

Thank you for the answers Aiden, that helps. I just wanted confirmation that the average 1st year character in this game is a LOT less capable than a wizard of the same age in the books. I do hope all the players take that on board and don't come out with jinxes and such they shouldn't know yet ;)

One thing I noticed was Redrick Schuhart colouring his hair magically, again that's the kind of thing I was thinking was too advanced for wizards who don't have wands and have so far only studied the theory.
