Hooray. ^^ And with Direct the Strike, I can get you to put those Ranged Basic Attacks to use against any enemy within 10 squares of me.  So if they've got any secondary effects, that should make for some nice extra control...

WyzardWhately

So, I put together my hybrid Lockadin.  I like him lots.

He can do absolutely absurd damage using Eldritch Strike, if he's hitting a guy who is also under his divine sanction.  And that is a melee basic attack.  It does 1d12+1d10+9, plus slide 1.

Just picture a tiefling in plate-mail with a skull-headed helmet and a flaming fullblade, beating ass left and right.  He is here to ruin everything.

And don't forget to toss on an extra 4 from Commander's Strike, whenever I say so. ;D From the sounds of things, we're all going to have lots of fun working together...

Edit: ...Ah,and somebody made sure to get the Everlasting Rations, right? ^^;

Isengrad

I don't have enough for the everlasting rations unfortunately, But I am a perception monkey.. passive perception is 28.Now, on with my character.

Rolan d'Mendani, or at least formally, was once the son of a noble woman in the Dragon marked house. Always a sort of outcast because his mother chose to love a Full elf rather then rejecting him and taking a half elf as her husband. His father fought in the last war, Rumor had it he was in cyre on the day of mourning. With the last war ended and the treaty of Thronehold in place he chose to become a member of the newly formed Basilisk gaze, A Mendani battalion that specializes in hunting down war criminals. Because he lacked the dragonmark the house was known of, he was trained as a seeker instead of a ranger.. he was to slow, disorient, immobilize the targets for either capture or easier assassination.

For two years he did his job, and he did it well. His arrows struck true and hindered his foes well. Until the day they were sent to Thrane, rumor had it there was an elf deserter there.. Rolan and his team were selected specifically for this one. He didn't understand why until they caught up with their quarry, as he sighted the figure in his bow the man turned his head to reveal the face of his father. Before he could shout he saw the arrows of his comrades let their arrows fly true, his father went down. He was specifically sent to watch his father die, by the same man who his mother rejected... on the way back he straggled behind until he could duck away.. He left the gaze then, Leaving everything he was behind. His home, his family, even his family name.

[ok, rough work up of my character background.. comments opinions and lore correction are welcome]

This is version one.  The name is kind of a placeholder until I can think of something better.  As you can see, he isn't actually any more complicated than a normal Warlock - he's actually a little simpler, because he doesn't have any of the weird movement-based abilities.

I may rebuild him as a human...while I really dig on the idea of playing a Tiefling, and I get some cool stuff out of it, the Human racial abilities would really shore up his weaknesses.

Background: Damian was a dashing and successful merchant.  He led caravans of goods and ships with holds full to bursting across the uninhabited lands, with a smile and a silver tongue.  He turned great profits and had a fine reputation.  One day, though, an onrushing horde of Gnolls charged forth from the treeline.  His guards were annihilated, and he was left for dead.  He was one of the lucky ones.

While he lay there, his life flickering like a candle as the sun went down and the snow started to fall, a pale and dark-haired woman came to him.  She said that she had many enemies.  That the dark gods were jealous of her power and position.  She offered to give Damian back his life, to do with as he wished.  There was only one condition: He must send to her the souls of undead, and the disciples of her enemies among the gods.  Like a river the souls must flow!  Never-ending, a roaring flood of souls!  He would reave the power of her enemies out from under them, as a scythe cuts wheat, as great nets pull forth fish from the ocean.

Damian has found the task infinitely more to his liking than he would have suspected.

your eldritch strike is actually 1d12 +2(weapon mod) + 9 damage (cha mod), wyzard.
then if you roll a crit, it's 23 (max dmg) + (1d12+2 high crit) + (2d6 flaming property)

still rather impressive...

The D10 comes from having the enemy under my Curse.  It's usually only a D6, but I get a D10 if I've also got the same guy under Divine Challenge.  Also, I don't think the character builder includes the hellfire blood bonus...since I'm using a flaming weapon, it can basically always apply.  Essentially the only time I'd turn off the flaming property is if I were fighting something with fire resistance.

oh duh... forgot about the curse... you sneaky hybrids >.>;

oh also, how'd you learn supernal? I thought it was only from having a language feat?
If it's a background trait, which one?

Yeah...no pact boon or channel divinity, though.

*shrug*

It'll all come out in the wash.

I know you wanted to give us an Expertise feat for free, but I've included mine on the sheet so that it calculates it into the numbers.  I'll probably pick some other feat to add in as a custom one.

In the "Feats" tab, on the "Feat Choice checklist" where your feats are slotted, there is a tiny yellow house that you can click to grant extra feats.

Yeah, but (in my experience, it's possible only my CB is screwed up) if you add Expertise or whatever as a custom feat, it doesn't actually add the bonus in for you.  I have no idea why that is.

the newest version of CB works fine with free expertise feats and linking the math with powers.

A few things...
1) using the WotC builder (read: the only way I can make sense of 4e's avalanche of powers and shit) only allows up to Level 3 for non-paying customers.  boo.  I'm about to try with Pathguy's java builder (which is not as shiny, but HIGHLY functional)
2) What kind of equipment buy/money are we to use for a L9 character?
3) So, we are allowing hybrids now?

1) looked over pathguy's builder.  it definitely is Function over Form. and it's close to up to date.
2) one lvl 10 item, one lvl 9 item, one lvl 8 item, 3400 GP to buy other items, rituals, potions, etc.
you *can* convert your free items into gold for more gear. make sure no item is lvl 11+

3)yea, since wyzard is making one, but Im discouraging them. I'd still hope that he comes to his senses and not choose a hybrid. CB still doesn't compute all the math correctly for hybrids and their picks.

(CURSE YOU WotC!! hybrids are 'arg! - inducing)

WyzardWhately

I've been working with some knowledgeable people on another forum to ensure I don't screw anything up.  I think it'll be fine, the character didn't come out very complex after all.

And while I know I'm tempting fate by trying to play a hybrid, once I had this guy built I just liked him way more than the monk I had generated.

How's that work for a tile icon thing?  I think it works okay whether he ends up as a tiefling or a human, either way.

Right now I'm working on a Deva Psion.  I was going to use an Orb of the Peerless Artist so 1/encounter I could exclude people from my bursts, but I was liking the Defensive Staff and Hafted Defense feat too...

Right now, I was thinking of Melee training (Int for melee basic), Superior implement training (orb of accuracy), Unarmored agility (+2 AC in cloth), Mark of Scribing (+4 languages), and Versatile Expertise (orbs and some simple melee weapon) as my bonus feat.  That still leaves one feat to use.  I got the mark so I could read and speak Primordial, Supernal, Abyssal, and Quori in case that was necessary.

Kunoichi....................building a Goliath Warlord

Done building, actually.  Though now I need to come up with a backstory for a very tall lady with a Dragonmark normally appearing only on those who are very short...  Well, unless we're not actually playing in Eberron, anyway, in which case I can just flavor the Mark of Healing as some bizarre birthmark that's been on her body since birth. ^^;

Either way, I'm at least finished with the mechanical portion of the character-building process for Lu-Lushe, Goliath Lady of War. (Warning: TVTropes link.)

Isengrad

well, if we have a psion in the group, they are much better controlers, what Archtype do we not have filled fully as of yet?

Kunoichi

Primary Defender and Primary Striker both come to mind, seeing as WW's character is more of a hybrid...

Isengrad

Thought Iyx would have the defender coverd, she was making both a fighter and a paladin.. just havent heard much from her.. But im building up a ranger now just incase
