Are you like a fictional character?

Now I am hoping this does not become like a MFK type posting. But i think it would be fun to connect our friends on here to fictional characters we have read about.

I will start with a couple.

I can imagine Elvi playing Lady Polgara in the David Eddings Series
and Strangely could easily do Silk or Belgarath in the same series. I am leaning towards Silk though as I think he is probably too young for Belgarath.

Sherona

Now see I disagree. I think Strangely would be a perfect Belgarath...Belgarath always gave me a tickle with his antics, but was always had odd ball ideas when everything looked the bleakest to save the day and I can so see S. doing that :) Silk was ...a closet softy crafty and while I can see S. being crafty he isn't a closet softy :)

I do think you got Elvi nabbed :) Lady Polgara was at once graceful and refined, but also had no qualms about doing what needed to be done when it needed to.

Elvi

Sorry, can't confirm, nor deny your thoughts.
My ex read all of the Belgariad series, but even though I tried, I just couldn't get into them....
It's been fun, but Elvi has now left the building

I find Eddings a very easy read, in comparison to say the likes of LotR or A Song of Fire and Ice. Belgeriard was ok, but I much prefer the Elenium and Tamuli.

Yeah. I am going through the Mallorean for a second time and then I am onto the Sparhawk ones again. Save the best to last!

Elvi

Ah well horses for courses...I just couldn't  at all....

HairyHeretic

Have you tried any of his other stuff, or just the Belgeriard?

It's amazing how much you can reuse the same plotline.   ;D

HairyHeretic

Same plotline and same characters too. That's probably one reason I find him such an easy read :)

That being said, they're an enjoyable romp.

Uh huh.  But out of the four, the Mallorean is the best read.   ;D

HairyHeretic

I prefer the Elenium / Tamuli over the Belgeriard / Mallorean in general story terms. I will admit a soft spot for Sir Mandorallen mind you. Had a character based off him in a Riddle of Steel game I played years ago. Its fun riding up to a castle and demanding they surrender to you  ;D

But you can't beat it for one liners.   ;D

HairyHeretic

Certainly it has some good ones, but I still prefer Sparhawk and co.

I must say I think I prefer the Sparhawk ones but its a close call.

I have yet to read the prequels to the Belgariad though.

The best of which by FAR has to be in the Mallorean, when Silk looks around and says, "Hey, haven't we done this before?"

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.
