Hello!

I'm a longtime pen-and-paper RPG player interested in doing some of that on the forums here... but I'm new and it's kind of overwhelming.  Seems like there's a lot going on.  ~LOL~

If any games out there have room, I'd love to join either a Mutants and Masterminds (2nd, 3rd/DC), D&D (3rd, 4th or 5th Edition), Pathfinder, Star Wars (WEG, Saga or Fantasy Flight) or Star Trek (Decipher or even freeform/no rules).

If you have such a game running and would like one more, please let me know!

Thanks!!

I'll jump in and say I own DC Adventures (Mutants and Masterminds 3rd edition based) and also Star Wars:Edge of the Empire (I have a Rodian character ready to go).

Not much for a GM, though I'd love to play either if someone's offering a game. :)

Vyxenne

And that seems to often be the problem.  Too many players, not enough GMs.   :-(

But I would looooove to get a DC/M&M game going.  I just don't have the free time to really run it. :-\

Every now and then M&M games come up, so I'm sure if people see the interest, maybe state their interest in playing, hopefully someone with GM experience will think about running it. :)

You might be pleasantly surprised how often that works.

I'd be bouncing up and down and waving for a chance to play a lot of these things, but right now I'm a bit overloaded.  Don't know how long it will last--especially after I catch up a bit more.

I couldn't tell you, but I'd love to throw my hat into the ring for a Mutants and Masterminds game. I just started playing it with my home group, and I'd love a game where things could get a little kinky. ;)

QuoteWhat sort of M&M game would people be interested in?

I like your standard comic book supers games in the vein of Avengers or Justice League.  I tend not to get into the "Let's be badass killers!" style of M&M.  Guess I'm old fashioned, but I dig the bright spandex and goofy capes.  ~LOL~

My preference is to play original characters rather than established heroes, but I'm flexible on that.  I just sometimes get too wrapped up in wondering if I'm doing a character justice if I'm playing Catwoman or Storm or Black Widow.  I'd rather make my own character that I can give my own voice to.

Some ideas for games I've made characters for in the past (but none of them ever got off the ground):

  • Uncanny Avengers - The Next Generation.  It was a game where the players made original characters who were being trained at the X-Mansion to be a future Avengers team.  The twist was each character had one parent who was an Avenger and another who was an X-Man (or affiliated).  Mine was the blind daughter of Captain America and Scarlet Witch.  I think her name was Spellbound or something like that.

  • Genderbent Heroes.  The premise was a team of X-Men and Avengers were on a starship heading into space to deal with a threat from the Skrulls or Brood or some other intergalactic nasty.  En route they discover a derelict ship from an unknown, ancient and astonishingly advanced civilization.  While they were investigating the alien ship, its AI computer comes on and zaps everyone with a mysterious light.  When they wake up, they discover that they each have a genderbent duplicate created by the ship.  I think the idea was the ship had an emergency system in place to combat extinction... if the alien society was reduced to a certain number, it would create a cloned copy of each person remaining, but of the opposite gender.  So if the last ship in the fleet was crewed by all men (or all women) the failsafe would guarantee both genders were available to repopulate the species.
Anyway, the players in the game were going to play the genderbent clones.  Captain America became Liberty (my character).  Storm became a man named Tempest.  You get the idea.  Anyway, the plan was for each set to go their separate ways with the original heroes continuing into space on their mission, and the clones returning to Earth aboard the alien ship to protect the world while the heroes were away on their mission.

  • The Vanguard.  This one was about a team of teenaged superheroes cloned from villains being held in Arkham Asylum.  Very much inspired the Young Justice cartoon series, but with the team being related to villains instead of heroes.
  • Really Great Game I Can't Remember The Name Of.  ~LOL~  There was an erotic superhero game I was invited to join on a Yahoo group, but it folded before I could really get involved.  The story revolved around a group of heroes who investigate a series of disappearing people in Gotham City.  It was a DC-Marvel shared universe with characters like Daredevil and Catwoman taking the lead.  They discover that the people who disappear were clients of a secret brothel, one that specialized in high quality superhero cosplay/prostitution.  Eventually they discover occult villains from both universes (I want to say Enchantress was running the brothel) were using the whore house to capture psychic energy released by orgasms to power some kind of dark ritual they were performing in the basement.  And the more powerful the person, the more "energy" released at climax, so they sought to trap super heroes to use for their needs.
It seemed like a popular story, but came to a screeching halt right when I was joining.  :(

Anyway, those are a few examples of games I thought had promise, but never went anywhere.  Who knows, maybe there's hope to get something rolling here!

I'd love to get into a Mutants & Masterminds 3e game!

Vyxenne's ideas all sound fun!

Let me know if anything gets started!  I have tons of super hero characters I could play.

I also have a few PL 10 characters (including an 'Alan Scott Green Lantern' ring-bearer) from DC Adventures and that's basically a reskin of M&M 3rd edition, so I'm also interested. :)

Well ... poop.

I can't run anything until I'm done with my college class.  :(

I'd be interested in playing in a Mutants and Masterminds game as well.

I might would be willing to run a Fantasy Flight Star Wars game, if it was small and depending on what people wanted out of it.  Though I'll admit that I'd probably start with (a likely modified version of) one of the introduction adventures if I did so.

Vyxenne

Something tells me we don't have a GM.

Maybe the way to go is to make a "GM Needed" thread.  We could do some world-building, come up with characters, chat about what we'd want in a game and keep it at the top of the forums.  Then basically say, "See!  We have a bunch of interested people!  And we already have all the work done for setting and characters and lore and whatnot.  All we need is a GM!"  And see if we don't get lucky.

I could be persuaded to do some FF Star Wars too. :)

Jazrae22

Right on, Vyxenne!

Okay, I'm going to create another 'Group Request' thread, but this one devoted to us creating characters and developing some ideas for a M&M 3e gameworld.  Once we're ready, we drop a 'GM Needed' thread with a link back to our characters and plot suggestions.

If you're interested, come on over and join the party.  I don't think we should have any more than six players though.

I'm also going to try a little experiment with character creation.  All will be explained in my first post there.

Great!  I'll be sure to "join the party" tomorrow (too sleepy right now... ~~yaaaaawn~~)

Missed the join up on the other thread. No worries as I own DC Adventures and while that is M&M 3rd edition, it does have different archetypes and I couldn't guarantee the one I'd pick would be in the M&M corebook as that same name and stats.

So, I'd be still looking as a player to get in on some supers action. As far as Star Wars goes, I own Edge of the Empire, so I'd go with the Fantasy Flight rule-system myself. I play a Rodian Trader-come-Assassin. Basically a hired sniper, I guess.

If you want to take my spot you are welcome to, as you did post here first expressing interest.

We can do Edge of the Empire (or a mix of the Fantasy Flight ones) if Vyxenne and you are interested.  I'd probably only take one or two more characters beyond that.

I'm doing a solo with Vyxenne with DC Adventures, so I'm fairly cool for you to go ahead in the group without me. ^^

If Vyxenne is still interested, Edge of the Empire would be awesome. It's the one book I have and I've yet to play it, so I may need some slack with me learning more on the system, though my interest for the Star Wars game is still there for sure. :)

Vyxenne

Yeah, I'm down.  I have all of the Fantasy Flight books except the one that just came out... forget the name.

I'd like to try playing a Force Sensitive, if that's okay.  Never done that before.   :-)
