Awake now? Get up. Ah, there we go. One more soul to the call.

What if I told you that Gods were real? Yes, plural.
What if I told you that they were less than you expected but more than you think?
What if I told you that zombies, vampires, werewolves and more all existed?
What if I told you that those feelings of dread you felt under your covers as a child were justified?
What if I told you that Death paid taxes?

There's so much to tell you and I have so many ways I could begin.

Hello.

There. That will do nicely.

My name is meaningless, but if you must attach a word to me, people usually just call me Miss White. Very creative, I know. I will make this brief. The Gods are fickle things full of petty jealousies, rivalries, greed, lust, and all sorts of other negative traits we used to think belonged exclusively to mortals. My particular master is Death itself. It has a problem. The world we live in is so filled with violence and careless abandonment for the rites of it's departed that is has created an abundance of wayward souls. That is to say that the Grim Reaper has it's hands full. What it could once handle alone now spirals out of control. Wayward souls constantly slip through it's grasp and wind up back here on the mortal plane, where they emerge as the undead and creatures of darkness, whom have endeavored to create more undead, whom have then created more undead, which then create...

...You get the picture.

Unwilling to be seen as a failure by the other immortal beings on high, Death has created Mercy Inc. which aids in hunting down these rogue abominations. I don't care who or what you were in your past life. When you died your soul was strong enough to heed The Call. Congratulations. You're a Reaper now.

Congratulations, you died! Thankfully, your soul was strong enough to bring you back from the grave. This comes with a price, though. Your character is newly resurrected and finds themselves in the employ of Mercy Inc. under the tutelage of Miss White. You're her new partner and together, you're going to be 'escorting' the supernatural creatures that have found a way to cheat Death back to the afterlife. This is a modern game with supernatural overtones, plenty of action, a little mystery, and adult themes. I'm looking for two (possibly three) people who can post at least once a week. I don't want to spoil too much of the story elements here since you, like your character, would be coming into this without knowledge of the supernatural presence, but if you have any questions feel free to post them here.

I'd be interested, as it sounds a lot like RIPD which was a very underrated movie in my personal opinion and a neat concept. Would it generally be focused on people who have talents that are useful to Mercy INc? Like Soldiers, Thieves, killers, etc..?

MissFire

Ideally, yes, your character would've had some talent in a previous life. Law enforcement, military, mercenary, etc. Sending a barista from Starbucks to fight off a vampire horde would be a terrible idea.

Also, would it be present day or people from different times?

Well, as I said definitely interested once you start accepting profiles. I'd love to either do something like a thief or a drug cartel enforcmeent person, not necessarily law abiding to begin with, or perhaps something more akin to Daniel Jackson from Stargate. Linguistics, demonology, that sort.

MissFire

I'll start the character creation process when/if I can get a couple more people interested.

Blinkin

This reminds me of a very short lived, little known TV series in the early 90's (I think) called G vs. E... This guy dies, wakes up to figure out that he's dead, but he's been drafted into a war between good and evil to put down evil things.

It was so short lived that there isn't even a Wikipedia page for it. ;)

Anyway, List me interested, but unsure what to play around with.

Yes, I really am blind.
Being Literate is the ability to read and understand a language. When you ask for literate, what you are looking for is Verbosity, which is the ability to use lots of words without actually saying very much... like politicians. I consider myself both literate and verbose.

Intetesting. Will it take place in one geographic location or will we be jet setting the globe?

MissFire

Mainly in Chicago, though if we get far enough along I might involve other locales as well.

Name: Miss White (Real Name: Abbeline Osborn)
Age: 112
Gender: Female
Place of Birth: Surrey, England (1924)
Place of Death: London, England (1941)

Bio: The vast majority of White's upbringing is unknown as she rarely talks about herself, especially with recruits. She hates to get attached. What is known, however, is that she had a relatively simple and poor childhood. She often remarks of having little to eat and that a decent meal was far and few between. At some point she apparently moved to London. Weather this was on her own or with her parents is unknown, but she has a talent for art so it's guessed around the company that she moved to London to study with her peers. Whatever the reason, her life was interrupted when World War II consumed the globe like a great shadow and the Nazi war machine found it's way to England's shores. She died during the Blitz, victim of one of the many bombing runs.

More of her history is unspoken here and she does not describe what happened when or where she awoke again and who, if anyone, was there to coax her back to the world of the living. She began work for Mercy Inc. and quickly became one of it's most talented Reapers. As a woman of over a hundred years of age, she's seen a great many Reapers come and go during her time. As such, she's become fairly cold and aloof and does not like growing attached to new hires. She is the primary contact for new souls awakening after death and often works long hours to ensure she's there to guide the newly awakened. As a Reaper, White is an excellent combatant and has a large number of successful cases under her belt. She tends to be old-fashioned, however, and is terrible with increasingly complex modern technology. Some agents see her as a relic and are happy to see new blood coming in.

Skillset:
-Expert Marksman
-Adept Fencer and Boxer
-Keen Intellect
-Excellent Artist (Painter)

Here's a sample profile! White's is a little different since she's the 'old dog', so to speak. Your characters will all have died fairly recently. As stated above, they should have some skillset that would make them useful; law enforcement, military, etc. How they died is up to you so long as it's not suicide. As long as the basic form above is here, you can do as you wish. If you want to add some more fields, feel free.
