I have come back after a hiatus, but I can't access the embedded link on the deverified thread, there's only an error message showing. 

Plus, my search thread has been archived/deleted. Can I post a new one after the process is done?

Apparently, you were never deverified (which means that your email address never sent us a 'bounce'.)  That's why you're getting the error message.  You should have access to all of the regular parts of the forum, including the request boards.
