I find trump supporters baffling as I know they find those that dont support him baffling. The intelligent magas are extremely disturbing they know he is full of shit and a narcissistic megalomaniac BUT they dont care since he represents their beliefs.

WHAT if he wins?

Exactly, check your voters registrations, doubke check it, do your homework, then vote up and down the ballot against those who back Trump, MAGA or Project 2025.

They only way guys like Trump win is for good people to do nothing. They shout louder because they are fewer in number. Beat them in the way it hurts the most - at the voting box.

Beguile's Mistress

I am unable to go to the polls myself but fortunately I live in a facility that assists us in mail-in voting.  If you feel you can't make it to vote in person don't hesitate; request a mail-in ballot right away and follow the procedures for sending in your ballot.

LostInTheMist

As I mentioned, my state (Oregon) exclusively does mail-in voting. Washington (State) has followed our lead on that. There might be a few other states where you don't have to stand in line, but it only works in states where the state legislature and executive branches are controlled by Democrats, because only Democrats approve of such laws, making it easier to vote, and thus expanding access for the voters who tend to vote for Democrats more than Republicans.

I dislike this language.

It suggests giving up.

I know I won't. I hope most people won't.

For now, I will use what voice I have. I have thoughts on what to do if the worst does happen, but I refuse to expend mental or physical effort on that when there are things we can do to stave it off in the first place.

I encourage everyone to do the same.

LostInTheMist

I'm not giving up, and even if the worst should happen, I still won't give up.

But our best option is prevention.

Oh yes I’m not giving up. Never!  I love seeing the NC gop gubernatorial candidate sweating after his kinks came up. My brother who got trounced by the Maga faction has refused to comment to the NYT folks

And today Mark Robinson LOST major staff in unexpected resignations. Checking my brother’s election campaign showed he had given many antisemitic statements and even denied the holocaust.

I think the only real surprise to me is how many of his major staff people didn't resign. His campaign is a sinking ship... you really don't want to be tainted by association.

Oh yeah I read in one article that he had 3 staff members left. My brother should speak out. But I respect his choices. Stabbing a rival in the back will leave him as persona non grata next time the e lection rolls up. Hope the party doesn’t ask him to run for  house seat that is filled with an unbeatable foe to force the DNC run money to counter his efforts. They did the last time he ran.

Mark Robinson, that guy is FUCKED what an absolute creep, that ANYONE could even consider voting for the guy, holy crap words fail

And yet enough MAGA idiots voted for him as opposed to my brother to secure the nomination for governor. I’ve come to the decision that North Caroline has elctionally lost its god damn mind.

I got a call asking for money from the Harris/Walz campaign. If my bonus comes through later this month, I plan to donate half of it to Harris-Walk, and put the other half towards a next gen console.

I gave the person on the other end some encouragement, including my family motto (on my mother's side) "Don't let the bastards get you down."

I don't know the family motto on my father's side, but I do know that I'm related by marriage to King Henry I, and that many generations of my ancestors were the Dukes of Anjou, but eventually had to flee due to religious persecution, so they wound up in England, then had to flee England due to religious persecution there, and they wound up here in 1640. They've fought on the "right" side of every war since the Revolutionary War until the Vietnam War. (My Grandfather, a Captain in the Calvalry, who retired to be an engineer was too old, my father too young.)

My grandfather was a genealogist, and he was able to trace our lineage back over 1000 years to tell us this.

But what I meant to say was that, I got a call from Harris-Walk, and I was able to bolster the morale of my caller, even though I couldn't give money right now.

Liz and Dick Cheney are endorsing and campaigning for Harris/Walz. Talk about a devil's bargain, on both sides...

clonkertink

A bargain implies some sort of deal being made. I don't think Harris actually has to trade much in exchange for their endorsement. I'd expect that defeating Trump is its own reward.

Alberto Gonzales also endorsed Harris. So there's a good chunk of the old Bush administration jumping ship.

Dubyah's admin was responsible for a lot of bad things in the middle east. This might turn off some voters that are anti-war. Fresh information has a way of sticking into people's head and staying there.

But Trump is not anti war either. Especially considering his own recent statements with Iran. More so with the clear lack of respect for those who have served in the past.

Might have something to do with Harris saying she wants to give Republicans a spot in her cabinet

Quote“I have spent my career inviting diversity of opinion. I think it’s important to have people at the table when some of the most important decisions are being made that have different views, different experiences,” Harris said. “And I think it would be to the benefit of the American public to have a member of my Cabinet who was a Republican.”

And yes, count me among the people who are turned off by a Dick Cheney endorsement. I mean not that it matters in my case, I can't back this candidate anyway, and figure Cheney's just there for the same reason there are jackals around a carcass.
