You dig giant robots! I dig giant robots! Chicks dig giant robots!

Now the real question is which ones do you love? This thread is dedicated to our favorite robots from childhood and adulthood!

One of my favorites is inarguably the OP Gurren Lagann

And the later female robot where each breast was a big missile this is a classic, introduced to me by my Geek Uncle.

2. Jet Jaguar

BOTH of them!

I'm suck a geek!

(In no particular order)
1. Gundam 00 Raiser (Skip to about 2 minutes in for the one I'm referring to) (Yes, it easily destroys asteroids)

2. Shinken-Oh (1:14-3:18)
http://youtu.be/RMdX_iy7bBM

3. Genesic GaoGaiGar

4. Strike Freedom Gundam (1:00 in)

Aside from the obvious choice of Mechagodzilla, most of the things I'd pick would be from Power Rangers.

I was always fond of the Q-Rex (yes, that stands for Quantumsuarus, because fuck you) from Power Rangers: Time Force. I loved the three or so recycled clips from the original series of just the Tyrannosaurus fighting, and this was basically a souped up version that didn't look stupid. Instead of having this big dumb looking boxhead, it was sleep and viscous looking, and it didn't try to swing around it's little arms, it would just duck down and streak into you, latch on and try to thrash you around until you were on the ground, or whatever was in it's mouth gets torn the hell off. Also helps it could turn into a biped with a tail and blow your ass up with a revolving missile launcher arm and twin shoulder mounted energy beams.

Now, if you want to see how NOT to design a giant mecha robot, look to RPMs Ultrazord. It's like someone was blindfolded, covered in glue, spun in circles and then sent running through a toy store.

I have several 'favorite' mecha.

When I was a kid, I fell in love with the MBR-04 Mk.6 from SDF-Macross, the Destroid Tomahawk.

It still remains one of my all-tie favorites.

About five years ago, I'd come across the anime 'Full Metal Panic', and I loved it!  For me, it's a perfect match of anime Comedy, high-school romance, big-mecha, and drama.  It's truly one of the best I've ever seen.

So, with that in mind, I've got to say that the ARX-7 Arbalest is one of my favorites, too.

And, what self-respecting mecha fiend would go without mentioning their favorite Gundams?  I have two.

The 00-Raiser...

From 'Gundam-00'

And, the RX-79(G)...

From '08th MS Team'.

Cherno Alpha, all the way.

The Mad Cat:

If you like your Mecha not so giant, try the first two Lost Planet games. The robots are only about as big as the power suits in the Matrix movies on average, and they vary wildly in what they can do. There is a rather beast one with jet skating and a chainsword though.

I have so many that it's kinda hard to pick to be honest, but I know my favourite is the lovely 侍ノ弐 Sengoku Astray Gundam

I have to say Valvrave 1 after that

I have taken the Oath of the Drake

Okay.... After watching the newest episode of Gundam Build Fighters Try I have to say... Transient Gundam and the Build Burning have shot up quite far on my list <.<

*is so giddy and happy he has to share "my daughter is an awesome nerd" moment with people on the internet*

So, my office is locked whenever I am not in there, and my girls don't really come in there as they're kinda scared of it as they think it's scary it's locked all the time. In there I have all my gundam stuff, all my figurines all my artbooks etc. So, my oldest got curious today while I was sitting in there just doing random stuff for Uni. She knocked politely and then came in. She was very, very much interested in all the gundams. 3 days ago I received my MG Shin Musha Gundam Sengoku no Jin. So, I asked her, since I was not really that far in the assembly if she wanted to watch, maybe even help me assemble it, and she was ecstatic. So, we did that, it didn't take that long actually, got it into an awesome pose. So, she noticed some of my SDs and asked if those were for kids. I said "Well, somewhat, the models can be a bit hard to assemble, but I think we could find one you could do on your own" So... we did :D So now my girl is getting a SD Zaku II :D

It's always wonderful to introduce someone to a hobby. :)

She just walked in, took one look at me then held out her hand and said "Dad said you have a DVD of that SD thing... give it to me, I wanna watch it before bed" Cheeky little thing :P of course I gave it to her

I can't find any pictures that arn't toys. But I really like the Super Sentai Gokaiger/Power Rangers Super Megaforce Megazord. I just like pirates so that might be why. Also love Gurren Lagann, and any of its other forms.  And finally Metal Gear Excelsus is pretty awesome as well.

I'm watching Try right now, so maybe later I'll be able to share some Gundams I like.

*nods* Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger's main mech (Gokai-Oh) was an interesting little number, mostly due to its support mecha.

I liked Gokai Oh more than I liked its Power Ranger counterpart on the basis it served as Gokaigers base and it fit with the theme of the show about Sentai Pirates.

Gundam wise....who remembers Burning Gundam??

Agreed. Plus it had Navi the Parrot and a cool looking room with the Ranger Key Chest.
