Mobile Suit Gundam: Blood and Ideals Interest Check

Hello everyone,

I am looking at starting a Gundam thread. It will be set during the One Year war (UC OO79)

It is done in the spirit of Mobile Suit Gundam: 08th MS Team. In which it is mainly Ground based Combat utilizing the RX-79(G), Ground Type Gundams.

The Area of Conflict will be North and Central Africa. The Story will follow the 432nd Forward Mobile Suit Team. Known as the "Desert Rats". They are battling for Control of the for the Zeon General Muhammad Acar.

Looking for People to Play members of the 432nd (aside from me) as well as two People to Play Acar's Ace pilot lieutenants. A pair of Twin Female Pilots. Depending on the story may or may not defect to the aid the 432nd.

Weapons available at the beginning are going to be the 100mm Machine gun, Bazooka, Missile Launcher, and 180mm Cannon.

I am holding off on the beam rifles, stating they would still be in the Experimental Stage for the beginning and only issued on certain missions.

For this RP, I am trying to keep clear of the whole Newtype plot device for the Players. All players would be Oldtypes. That is not to say we won't encounter Newtypes as we fight.

You can count me in as interested but will the characters be able to use the Ez-08 or would they be restricted to the Ground Gundams and the GM's?

If I know Mac reasonably well (He is the reason I'm on this board, actually), then his answer will be like this.  We'd start out with the RX-79(G), and have the Ez-8 upgrades available at another time.

Typically I'd never dream of passing up a Gundam RP, but I'm a huge fan of customizing and creating my own Mobile suits (Mostly gundams) so I might end up passing this one up, I don't like being restrained in terms of tech, or given a particular MS to be stuck with for the duration of the RP that's not something I've created myself... I like giving my MSs a more personal touch.

EDIT: If the whole customizing thing is completely off the table, I'd still like to partake, but I'd only really be interested in doing supporting roles like Mechanics or Engineers, roles where I wouldn't be fighting myself.

EDIT #2- Edit harder: Ehh... even if nothing else is possible, F it, snipers are always fun.

Rob is right. At first they will be Stock G-type Gundamns, GMs. As the Story progresses and more "Time" Passes, Upgrades will be available. Would like to keep this in a the realm of realizism, or as real as Gundam is  :P


At the beginning, the Customizing of Gundams is off the table, but as my stories are generally fluid and lack concrete structure. Down the line, who knows. They may create the "Templar Gundams"

So what you're saying is that I'm stuck with your restricted weapons at the start of the RP, however, if I'm awesome enough I can ninja in Cherudim before you even realize what I'm doing? XD

That's a joke, just so you know. Cherudim wouldn't really fit in with the other early UC Gundams, tragically. You don't really have to be worried about me not playing by the rules of reality, I love Gundam too much to do it any kind of disservice... It IS kinda unfair that we'll be fighting against newtypes when we're just an army of oldtypes though, Newtypes are just superior, period.

Anyway, I guess I can get by with a Ground Type Gundam for now, so long as it is playing more of a sniper/bombardment role, as long as I can fine tune it and personalize my MS by the end of the story, I'll be just fine. The farthest I'll go, and that's only if the GM permits it, will be giving my character the grandfather of the GP series from Stardust memory, which I'd just create from scratch.

I am thinking of leaving "Newtypes" out of the beginning of the RP since they are never mentioned in the Show: 08th MS team.

I Know they made one for the PS3 game MS Gundam: Crossfire. it looked like a bolt action rifle.

So long as it done "realisticly" I have no problem with it.

It's not Gundam without one of those pilots... no wait it's not Gundam without an ace pilot who has no piloting skills whatsoever, is some sort of computer wiz, and a staunch pacifist. Yeah, that sounds about right.
