Recruitment happens on a case-by-case basis (aka: we do not do mass approvals without putting thought into it) - because we want to make sure that you are a good fit for us, that we are a good fit for you and that we can incorporate your character(s) into the story. Leaving people out isn't what we want to do.

We are always looking for serious and dedicated writers.

It you want to join us, please have a concept in mind. We suggest reading through the threads listed at the end, to get an idea about how things work and maybe for an idea or three. :-) If we think that you (and your character idea of course) would fit into the group, we will consider it. Just send us (MaverickKane & Nicholas) a PM or post in this thread and we can talk about it! ;D

We have a very good, friendly, mature and levelheaded group of writers and we seek to keep it just that way.

And since we have heard that before. No, we are not 'intimidating'. Good quality writing isn't ever intimidating. Elliquiy is a literary site, after all. ;)

Since there has been more than one misunderstanding: No, this is not a group about models. They are a part of the business, but not the main focus. Also - knowledge of the fashion business is not a requirement to join us.

As the group title already suggests, this group is about the struggles, jealousies, adventures, business deals, scandals, affairs and lives of the people involved in the glamorous and fast-paced Fashion World.

High Fashion is a highly competitive, merciless and relentless industry. It offers so many different plot angles and possibilities. People with very different personalities and cultural backgrounds clash on a daily basis and it's not always nice and gentle to move in this shark pool and not drown. Jealousy, resentments and the desire to stay on top makes for a lot of conflict and interesting plots to happen!

We do not throw out full fledged plots on purpose.

We rather encourage our writers to come up with their own stories and ideas! And, thus far - this worked out splendidly. Usually, there will be one main plot, but nobody is required to participate. If anything, it is supposed to be a guideline and maybe a source for inspiration and encouragement for own ideas and plotlines.

Current ratio on active characters

Gender/sex/identity:
Cis-Male: 9
Cis-Female: 9
Transgender: FtM 1, MtF 1
Agender: 1

Orientation:
Homosexual: 2
Bisexual: 5
Bi-Curious: 1
Pansexual: 4
Androsexual: 1
Unknown: 3
Heterosexual: 4
Omnisexual: 1

  • Lords, Ladies and Lieges are welcome. The gender/sex of our writers is irrelevant. If this is a problem for you, please do not join.
  • Please - have decent O/O's. No O/O's = no joining the group.
  • Active, levelheaded, friendly, drama-free and literate writers that like to plot and add own ideas to the ongoing story.
  • Character development, drama, plot twists, intrigue, jealousy, sensuality, loathing, rivalry, etc. The fashion world is such an intense, relentless field, and the possibilities are endless, really.
  • Ability and willingness to communicate. This will not work without communication and plotting. You must be able to come up with your own ideas and communicate them accordingly. We are not spoon-feeding people. Sitting around and hoping for things to happen will not work here. There always will be one main plot for everyone, but we certainly encourage our writers to do their own thing as well.

  • We try to avoid preformed, romantic relationships, creating a character for someone elses character for romantic/smutty purposes (boring much?) or those 'love interest' things. Of course, in that line of work people often know one another - but we really try to avoid this 'romance coupling up' before writing. It's boring and it leaves little room for development and storytelling. When it gets to the point of someone making a character just to fit another writers character like a glove? Where exactly is the fun in planning it all before writing? Please, don't.
    Clarification
Making an intern to a fashion magazine editor? - Green light!
    A personal assistant to a designer/photographer/model? - Green light!
A business acquaintance to an already existing character? - Green light!
Making a boyfriend/girlfriend/etc. character without anything else than that? - Red light!
Making a 'top' to a 'sub'? - Red light! (needless to say - that kind of information isn't on the sheets, anyways.)
  • Each character getting along with everyone else. That's unrealistic and not very interesting to begin with. Conflict is the salt in the soup! Rivalry, loathing, jealousy and resentments are such great plot tools!
  • Plots that center around smut. We do not want to write a porn script here. We want to write interesting stories, have the characters grow, develop relationships, etc. This worked splendidly so far because there is so much else to explore than 'just' the sexual aspect. We will not write one sex scene after the other. This is not an orgy and it won't ever be one. Sex will happen, very likely (it's human beings after all, with needs and desires) but... you get the drift. There is a point where it turns into porn and very unrealistic.
  • Short posts (so far, all of our writers are multi para posters and we want to keep it that way.) We just do not like one-liners and posts without any substance.
  • Passive writing partners. Collaborative storytelling requires plotting and good communication.
  • Out-of-character drama. You start it, you are out. No warnings. We have zero drama tolerance.
  • Writers that do not like cross-gender writing or have a problem with relationships outside of heterosexual. It will happen. The world is a diverse place.
  • Only getting in scenes with a character that would potentially sleep with your character. This is not only unrealistic, it also reduces the option for good stories and plots. See it this way: Would you only interact with people you would sleep with? Do you only talk to people you can get romantic with? See how absurd (not to mention unrealistic) that is? Not each scene has to result in two characters having sex. Besides - unless it is explicitely stated that a characters sexual preference is public knowledge, or your character knows another character that well to have that kind of information - how would your character know if someone is even compatible or a possible partner for that? We like to keep that part realistic. Nobody has written their sexual preference on their foreheads.
  • People bringing bad, toxic attitudes to the table. We really do neither need nor want to put up with that and we will end it before you can blink. Such attitudes only display disrespect of the work and dedication the group and its members have done and we will not tolerate it.

GMs:

MaverickKane & Nicholas - though, our writers really are their own GMs in the end. We just make sure things run smoothly and we are here, if there is a problem or someone has new suggestions and/or ideas. Those are always welcome!

Possible locations:

New York City - Paris - Rome - Berlin - London - Milan - St. Tropez  - Barcelona

Basically, each location is possible. The fashion industry is a global business, after all!

Right now - everything happens in Paris!

Setting:

Freeform/Sandbox. Modern contemporary (no magic, monsters, superpowers, aliens, etc.)

Current time: January 2015

Characters:

Humans only, please. 18+. All genders/sexuality's/gender identities/ethnicity's are welcome.

Multiple characters (and/or NPCs) are allowed and encouraged (as long as you can keep up with them, of course.) You can create as many NPCs as you need/want.

Why the NC Board?

Because it leaves room for a lot of directions without restraining our writers. Nothing is a must, of course. We encourage story, not porn. No NC action will be taken without writer consent, of course.

Yep. One or the other male or non-binary gendered person would be awesome. I think we are on par with female characters, for the time being.

TeacupTwink

Gah, you're full on fashion designers.
I had this great idea for a Mick Jagger type designer guy. Very English, very dancey and with a lot of movement.  :-\
I'll be back when I have another idea.

Biography

Born to a decently wealthy family.
Both parents working,  leaving him alone. Jasper was forced to live with his aunt, socialite Marjorie Summers.
Marjorie, a beautiful woman and muse to two fashion designers and thrower of extravagant gatherings.
Socially awkward, he locked himself in his room during the time and drowned himself in music. Dancing, turning and spinning with thrashing arms to legends of the past.
Jasper eventually was introduced and pushed to the realm of fashion through her lavish parties.
While scary, he loved it. Drawn to it, he found himself indulging in more and more and growing a strong bond with his aunt.
The dance went from his room to the colorful flowing wardrobe his aunt prided herself on, countless garments flooding him with inspiration for his paintings and own design ideas spinning his own path only slowing when Marjorie's last breath came - ended by her cocaine addiction and depression of having never given her all to the men who longed after her.
The dance has to continue though, for us all doesn't it?

Relationships

Friends:

  • " Shagging mates don't count do they..? "

Still recruiting for anyone who is interested. Just take a look through the information or ask about needed/wanted character concepts.

Nico

It just occurred to me that we could use another photographer. We have one active character, and for the other, the writer is m.i.a.

Caedy

Ooo! Astrid definitely needs some photography competition!  Seriously!  She really does :D

That's the plan. :P

We are running heavy on male identified characters. Some cis female or MTF to balance us out wouldn't be a bad thing.

Yarnover

I'm working on a cis female character. I'll make her completion priority #1 to do today.
