For ease of use for people not familiar with Star Trek, below will be a shortened list of species that are available to pick from, if theres a species you remember from any books, games, movies, or specific episodes that aren't listed they are still 100% accepted! this is just to help people not be overwhelmed by the gazillions of options

Species

Andorian
The Andorians were a warp-capable humanoid species from the moon Andoria, capital of the Andorian Empire, in the Alpha Quadrant. In 2161, their homeworld became a founding member of the United Federation of Planets. Typically are of light blue skin and white hair, with antennae on the top of their head

Bajoran
The Bajorans, or Bajora, were a humanoid species native to the planet Bajor in the Alpha Quadrant. The Bajorans had one of the oldest and richest cultures in the quadrant, though in the 24th century, they suffered greatly at the hands of the Cardassian Union. With their liberation from the Cardassians and the discovery of the Bajoran wormhole in 2369, the Bajorans were thrust onto the interstellar stage. Bajorans resembled Humans in appearance. They were distinguished by a series of four to seven horizontal creases across their noses.

  Betazoid
The Betazoids or Betazeds were a telepathic humanoid civilization originating from the Federation planet Betazed in the Alpha Quadrant. , Externally, Betazoids are physically indistinguishable from Humans in every aspect but one: the irises of their eyes were completely black.

Ferengi
The Ferengi were a warp-capable humanoid species from the planet Ferenginar. Ferengi civilization was built on free enterprise, where earning profit was the sole meaningful goal in life, superseding all other endeavors. To the Borg, they were known as Species 180. Despite their misogynistic views, small stature, lack of shame, and extreme obsession with profit, the Ferengi are one of the most underestimated species in all of the Alpha Quadrant. They are usually extremely intelligent, can possess great cunning, and can sometimes hide that fact very convincingly. They can also possess a great aptitude for economics, sciences, and engineering, and they are the among the best negotiators in the galaxy in regards to earning profits and deals without resorting to armed conflict.

Human
A founding member of the United Federation of Planets, Earth became warp-capable in 2063, which was the same year Humans experienced first official contact with an alien species, the Vulcans. The first warp-drive was engaged on April 5th of that year by Zefram Cochrane. By the 24th century, Human society had changed from what it was for most of recorded history. On Earth, hunger, war, disease, famine, and poverty had largely been eliminated. The acquisition of wealth was no longer the primary driving force in the lives of many Humans. A great deal of emphasis was placed on the importance of continued social and personal development.

Klingon
The Klingons were a humanoid warrior species that originated from the planet Qo'noS (pronounced Kronos), an M-class planet in the Beta Quadrant. One of the major powers of the galaxy, the Klingons were a proud, tradition-bound people who valued honor and combat. The aggressive Klingon culture had made them an interstellar military power to be respected and feared. Once feared enemies of the Federation the Klingon Empire is now a steadfast ally of the Federation, helping them beat back the Dominion in the recent Dominion War. Klingon's in Starfleet are rare, but there is one famous example in Worf, son of Mogh.

tellarite
The Tellarites were a warp-capable pig-like humanoid species from the planet Tellar Prime in the Alpha Quadrant. In 2161, their homeworld became a founding member of the United Federation of Planets.

Trill
The Trill, or Trills, were a humanoid species native to the planet Trill in the Alpha Quadrant. A small percentage of the Trill population harbored a sentient lifeform known as a symbiont inside their bodies, a symbiotic relationship that played a significant role in Trill culture and society. Such "joined" Trill had personalities that were a synthesis of the two beings, and could access the memories and skills of previous hosts. Since the 23rd century, the Trill have played an important role in the Federation. (Being a joined Trill is uncommon but not unusual, I will accept both joined and regular trill)

Vulcan
The Vulcans, or Vulcanians, were a warp-capable humanoid species from the planet Vulcan. They were widely renowned for their strict adherence to logic and reason as well as their remarkable stoicism.

In 2161, their homeworld became a founding member of the United Federation of Planets

If you are also interested in creating your own species, I will ask for a brief CS for the species itself, which will have to be approved after a brief review by me.

Nobody needs to have any knowledge of Trek to be here or have fun, and people ragging on others because they dont know X, or haven't watched Y will NOT be allowed. Player Name: Blackjack
Name: Miranda 'Miri' Chesterfield
Age: 22
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Home Planet: Earth/Sol III
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: 5'6 and a natural brunette but often times she will dye her hair blonde. She has a very milky coffee-coloured skin tone and she has deep brown eyes to go with it. She has worked hard to keep herself fit and will often go for a morning run before hitting up the yoga exercises. She has a slender and toned figure, with a graceful posture that enhances her poise and elegance.
Personality: Bubbly, upbeat, and ready to please. Often all too happy to throw down the books and hit up the closest nightclub to her and her fellow partygoers, she does have something of a serious streak and has often been described as having an on-and-off switch. When she is 'on' she is on and nearly unbreakable in her focus, but as soon as the mission/lecture/whatever is over then she will revert back to her happy-go-lucky attitude.
What major are you thinking of pursuing: Astrophysics
Faceclaim: Ana de Armas

Bio: Growing up in a small fishing town in south America, Miranda Chesterfield was born to a Cuban mother and a North American father. Having been gifted her maternal grandmother’s maiden name, Miranda had to make sure that she was going to live up to the high standard. She spent many a night lying on one of her father’s fishing boats and staring up at the sky, watching the stars gently twinkle and having them occasionally be accentuated by the flash of impulse engines from one of the many starships leaving the Sol system looking a lot like a shooting star.

It was those shooting stars that encouraged Miri to learn about the machinations of a starship and how they worked. Her childhood bedroom, still to this day, was littered in pictures of Constituion class ships as well as Oberth and Akira class vessels. As she matured, the pictures got a lot better in detail naturally and she was soon able to work on designing cross-reference pictures with the outer hull of the ship missing but all of the necessary details on display beneath them. While this was often not the case, Miranda was very interested in seeing just what the vessels would look like up close and personal.

She worked hard through her school tenure before she managed to finally get a spot at Starfleet Academy and the occasional free space in her childhood bedroom had been filled with selfies of her with words scrawled on them such as “Cadet Chesterfield” or the slightly more ambitious “Vice-Admiral Chesterfield”. She has been dreaming of this location for nearly ten years now and she is absolutely going to take it by the horns and do it.

Captain Whitebread

#4
Player Name: Captain Whitebread
Name: Rim Tibbets (aka Kharjo - Silver Ghost)
Age: 18
Species: Caitian (Canon species)
Gender: Male
Home Planet: Cait (Ferasa in Caitian)
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance: Rim Tibbetts is typical Caitian in all but colouration, a bipedal felinoid with digitigrade legs.  He prefers to keep his long silver and grey body fur closely trimmed; not only does it make his uniform fit better but it also controls his shedding.  The Caitian musculature is different from humans; they have higher strength and faster muscle responses.  Outside class, Rim can usually be found wearing a kilt.  In class, his uniform is always pristine.  Words like 'lithe' and 'flexible' are frequently used to describe him.
Personality: Rim is highly competitive, giving 100% to anything he participates in, whether it is a game of Parrisses Squares, Anbo-jyutsu or a math test.    He doesn't like losing but understands that there is always somebody better out there, so his response to defeat isn't resentment but rather a desire to learn from the victor.  He has a fascination for the hair of non-furred species,  to be more specific, he is fascinated by body hair.  It isn't something that affects his daily life but he might be caught staring while not in class, if there is a hairy member of most species or someone with an especially prominent head of hair nearby.
What major are you thinking of pursuing: Rim is attempting a triple major - Exoarcheology, Xenolinguistics and Exobiology in that order

Faceclaim: NA

and attached along with it, the short essay that the application team required about yourself

Bio: Growing up was difficult for Rim at first; the Caitian equivalent to albinism made him something of an outcast.  It didn't stop him from getting involved.  He was fiercely competitive, always pushing himself to excel in an attempt to prove himself the equal of his peers.  It was an uncle who suggested Starfleet, a place where his mutation would barely even be noticed.  He began studying immediately and when the time finally came for him to write the entrance exam, his score was the second highest ever recorded at that testing centre.  His immediate response was 'who beat me?'

Player Name: Captain Whitebread
Name: Alkyliab ch'Shovn
Age: 56
Species: Andorian
Gender: Male (chans)
Home Planet: Andoria
Sexuality: Pansexual (Polyamourous)
Appearance: Blue skin, white hair, dark blue eyes and two prominent antenna. He's slender, bordering on thin but he is built like a greyhound; all lean, fast muscle.
Personality: Brusque and blunt are two words that describe Alkyliab.  He doesn't suffer fools gladly but if he sees that somebody is actually making an effort, he will bend over backwards to help them.
What major are you thinking of pursuing: Teaches Xenolinguistics (speaks 17 languages fluently and is conversant in 6 others) and hand to hand combat
Faceclaim: Christopher Walken

and attached along with it, the short essay that the application team required about yourself

Bio: Alkyliab was once content to be part of a happy mating bondgroup.  They had three children and were consider highly fortunate.  Slowly, however, he realized he was not content.  He wanted more.  He was an ice miner and therefore already proficient with the Ushaan-tor, he memorized the Code of Ushaan as well as the 12,000 amendments.

It wasn't enough.

He learned Klingon and started studying Mok'bara, the Klingon version of Tai Chi, becoming a Da'Har Master.

It wasn't enough.

His hunger for knowledge led him to learn every language he could gain access to, eventually becoming fluent in languages most people hadn't heard of.  Soon people started coming to him, looking to learn what he knew and so he began teaching.

For now, it is enough.

Player Name: Golden Spider
Name: Celene Tal
Age: 21
Species: Trill (Joined)
Gender: Female
Home Planet: Trill
Sexuality: Omni-sexual
Appearance: Celene is a brunette with long brown hair that matches her signature trill spots visible on her face and neck, she typically wears her hair down, but does  the occasional braid when she's working with something that may catch it.
Personality: Celene is dedicated and energetic, She is all about new experiences and sensations, and had always had a wanderlust in her heart, but also a desire for knowledge, those traits have just been heightened since she was joined with the Tal symbiote
What major are you thinking of pursuing: Double major of Xenobiology & Xenolinguistics
Faceclaim: I honestly don't know, I've used this pic for ages (with now some slight edits to adding the Trill dots) and not even google lens can find a name for her

and attached along with it, the short essay that the application team required about yourself

Bio: Celene had always been a wickedly smart kid fascinated with the galaxy around her, even from a young age she had been secretly selected for the joining process when she had come of age, pending of course how she did in her studies. Her fascination with all the various species of life and cultures of the Federation led to her being fluent in Ancient Trill, Federation Standard, and even Klingon by the age of 10, something that a lot of people attribute to her symbiote, but that was 100% Celene's doing. Now that she is Joined and has been for a couple years, she decided to go off and explore the galaxy, to satiate her own desire to learn whatever she could, but also the Symbiote's desire to do the same. Yet at the same time she also wanted to help people, so signing up for Starfleet Academy was an easy choice, The fact that attending such an illustrious institution was also going to be a novel experience for Cel just made it better.

As the great Jadzia Dax once said on Deep Space Nine; "I have intimate memories of being a man, a woman, a father, and a mother" Celene with the Tal symbiote is much the same, so her sexuality is very fluid, she is not attracted to any one specific biological gender, but to anyone and everyone.

AndyZ

Player Name: AndyZ
Name: Autonomous Security Hologram (nicknamed Ash or Ashley)
Age: Programmed to appear early 20s
Species: Holographic Human
Gender: Female by default; adapts to appearance
Home Planet: Earth
Sexuality: Asexual so far but may choose to have sexual subroutines added at a later date
Appearance:
Personality: Outgoing and curious but without a great deal of experience in socializing
What major are you thinking of pursuing: Security and Tactics
Faceclaim: Elisha Cuthbert
Bio: One of the worst problems with Starfleet is the unacceptably high casualty rate for security officers.  Beaming down onto a new planet could often be seen as a death sentence, and all attempts to use the transporters to reconstitute a body ended in failure.

What changed this was the appearance of the mobile emitter.  Ferengi started selling them as a cheaper version of a holosuite for individuals who were more interested in interacting with a singular individual rather than an entire environment, and it didn’t take long for the Federation to acquire the technology.

The initial attempts at constructing a Tactical Security Hologram ended in failure.  Lacking sufficient sentience, they were unable to assess actions driven by emotions (such as why some people freeze up in a firefight) and lacked the ability to deescalate a tense situation.

Rather than create a Mark 2, the entire project was scrapped to start fresh with the Autonomous Security Hologram.  This model was created with a wide enough matrix to allow for sentience, treated well, and allowed to choose its own nature.  One body in particular among the available options stood out to ASH, short enough to be tactically advantageous in a phaser fight but tall enough to reach up and apply a Vulcan neck pinch if necessary, as well as hair short enough to avoid tactical disadvantage.  She can adjust quickly enough to other body types when necessary, but her default is her first and favorite.

Being sent to Starfleet Academy, her real test isn’t to prove that she understands the data that’s already been ingrained into her mainframe.  The real question is whether she can succeed where her predecessor failed.

Put simply, they want to see if she can make friends.

Accepted, but I still want to talk about it some more, where do you see her mobile emitter being? on the lapel like Voyager's Doctor had it? or somewhere more hidden? and how are you wanting her to interface with people, the Academy would of course be aware of what she is and her "experiment" but would they want her to have a roommate, etc as well? and would they want her to try to "pretend" to be a human to see if she's caught out, or for people to be aware that she is a hologram?

Oops!  I forgot to put it in the official thing but I was thinking that the mobile emitters double as a combadge and look like one, maybe a bit bigger than usual.  Being hidden would be pointless since if she gets shot at with a phaser, everything except the emitter will flicker to make it an obvious (if small) target.

As far as a roommate, I’m not sure.  On the one hand, she’ll need a place to keep her stuff.  On the other, she doesn’t sleep and just shuts down her program for the night after making a backup.

I don’t see her as pretending even if she doesn’t announce it.  On the other hand, some people may just not know until it comes up in conversation or they wonder why she’s hanging out in the cafeteria but never eats.  I figure gossip will spread about her in any event, both positive and negative.

Sounds good!, it looking like a little bit more bulky combadge is fine, we can say that they also managed to make an actual combadge be a part of the tech in it too

More knowledgeable technical folks might even recognize her as a hologram just based on the modified combadge.

I’m not too worried about keeping it secret, just like I understand if there’s varying levels of prejudice.

Fantastic show ^_^

For the unfamiliar, in Red Dwarf, holograms perfectly simulate an individual who died but are incorporeal.  Definitely worth a watch.
