So, I just won Mahjong for the third time. I probably played it about two dozen times in two days before finally getting it. This pleases me very much, and I wanted to create a thread where other people can post their long-worked for achievements and accomplishments.

So, if you successfully made a complicated recipe, or completed an obscenely long term paper, then here is the place to gloat!

+ Got spamassassin working and trained
+ compiled php, finally, will be trying out tonight. Only broke the server once >_>
+ tested server reboot after four months of changes, went well
+ Have seen new IPTables in action against various drive-by DOS attempts. Result is very positive. Tweaked a bit to be more aggressive.

I made lentil soup from scratch for the first time and although I had to do a lot of substituting (I can't get all of what the recipe called for here) it turned out delicious! So far I've managed to make some tasty banana bread, pomegranate chicken, chai, and lentil soup as of this month. Yay!

It might not be much to anyone but me but, I got lucky and got my vacation pay 3 days ago. (were I work you don't get PTO - Paid Time Off, every year you get a check for 40 hours.) I bought Michi No Sora 2 gifts, and our daughter 2 gifts, and my mom 1 so my our Jul shopping is done for this year.

I enjoy drawing.. And I love working with SAI, but my trail period has been used, so.. need to buy it now. And I shall. I'm too addicted not to. Plus, it's not expensive at all. Photoshop and Corel Paint cost a lot more and I dislike working with those two programs. So. Win/ Win ♥

SAI is quite epic. You can even use it quite well if you don't have a tablet. Mousing works. Just takes more time to get what you wish. :)

My friend has a tablet-- which I found very difficult to manipulate. @_@

But I managed to make a cotton candy twister thing-- which she then erased. ><

Took me a few days, too. And took a week before I no longer got a headache from drawing that way. It takes getting used to, but it works more intuitive them mousing. Which basically means I can translate my thoughts better to the PC.

Yes, I know it took ages xD

Asides having to get money on the paypall account, I also had to manually install the certificate into the program with the aid of a very interesting Japanese-English manual.

Do you have a deadline for that story? If not, perhaps putting it away for a few days would help you see it with new eyes and maybe a new direction.

Perhaps they don't want to go where you're taking them. Characters can be damn bossy sods. Give them a bit of distance, and perhaps when you have a look at them again, they'll tell you what to do next ;)

I got all my hair onto rollers!

(It should be noted that though I am 27 years old I have never curled my own hair on rollers.  Only ever just barely won fights with the curling iron.)

the curls worked!

Also:  I did it!  I freaking DID IT!  I got up on stage and sang a solo.  Only one standing on the stage for this one.  And not only did I sing, but I did the little bit of dance that went with my song.  And I didn't start the song of shy and shaky like I have every time in practice. And you know what?  It felt gooooooooooood!
