It's a pretty quick and easy test to give a generally rough idea of how fast one can type :)

Your Score - 366 CPM (or 73 WPM)

In reality, you typed 366 CPM, but you made 2 mistakes (out of 64 words), which were not counted in the corrected scores.

Your mistakes were:

Instead of "seem", you typed "seemeven".
Instead of "seem", you typed "seemeven".

Apparently that's a fair bit higher than the median, according the that particular site at least. I'm certainly curious how fast others are on this site :D

Lilias

444 CPM, 89 WPM.

When I learned to type, my official speed test was 142 CPM on a manual typewriter. 20 years later and on a softer keyboard without tangling type bars, 3x that speed is to be expected. ;)

Darn I've slipped I used to have about eighty words per minute. :P

Guess I have to update my resume. :\
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

Woof, I've slowed down in the years. I used to test mid 90wpm but I haven't had the need to type fast since my old RP days on IRC.

The text was light gray on white/light green for me, which ... wasn't ideal. x.X

Fifth or sixth try (when I wasn't distracted by IM, spend unreasonable amount of time fixing a spelling mistake at the beginning of a longer word or similar):
QuoteYour score: 384 CPM (that is 76 WPM)

It being random words rather than actual sentences threw me off quite a bit, never mind that people generally type faster when they do so "from mind" rather than read material. (It'd be interesting to try with texts read at different speeds, though.) ...I personally occasionally also still tend to look at the keyboard rather than screen when typing, silly as the habit is (as I *can* type blindly easily enough, but for some reason my gaze still tends to stray to my hands every now and then).

Honestly thought it would be more than that but, meh. Not too shabby.

I haven't tested it recently, but those company tests used to say 60-70 wpm.

The thing for me is I don't just type and go away...  I tend to look over things or change my mind how to say stuff in midstream.  So conversation and planning and the like can take much longer than it seems that just typing the message should take.  Cause I usually edited it forever.  ::)  It's not like having someone hand you a sheet for a test and just punching out something that was predetermined.

I also read rather slowly, even when I'm not picking over the meaning and sources of what I read (wait, when is that again umm)...  So the actual thinking about the details can stretch quite a long time with all that.

Intense, please don't do better than tat. You will bring out the competitiveness in me and I'll have to try and try until I do better than you. Nothing against anyone. I just. . . I like typing fast >.>

Laughs.  I tried that link and I only got 317.  Although it's pretty late here...  ::)

That sort of test is very different from what I usually saw at temp companies.  They would usually have a paragraph or narrative, or sometimes just a string of sentences to copy.  But it wouldn't be a string of disconnected words.  I suppose the results are not soooo different, though.  Come to think of it, I believe I did much better at one or two of the companies than others but I can't seem to recall if it was the test or something else about that day.  Not sure if I really knew why.

QuoteBut it wouldn't be a string of disconnected words.  I suppose the results are not soooo different, though.
I know it being random jumble of words threw me off quite a bit... I kept wanting to type things my brain wanted (or expected) to see, rather than what it actually received from my eyes. "desk an chair"?  Nope, that's now "desk and chair".

Hmm, not too fond of it, it isn't really that accurate since everything is just randomize. I played around at it three or four times, once had bunch of 5 and less words, another had some random words with ' symbol thrown in them. Another was a mixture of short and long words. There is just no rhythm to it. The first was one is my score, the others were higher, but saw no point in pasting results with stream of inaccuracies.
