I know technically the story is over, but I wish to explore what happened at the very beginning when the Machines first took over and plugged everyone they could get a hold of into the Matrix.  The creation of Zion as well is a point of much interest for me.  The creation of the One System of control would also be a good thing to explore but beyond that I don't have a lot of ideas for this one.  Still, I'm more than willing to hear ideas and the like as we go along should this one win out over the other two.  Any of the computer based program characters like the Oracle, the Agent Smiths, and so on can be used but I ask that you try to stay true to them.  But, I know that in an RP things can change and I encourage those changes, so long as they don't deviate too much from their original design.  Otherwise, any of the human characters like Neo, Trinity, and all the rest won't be present, at least not for a very long time since this is set way back at the beginning.  The year and all that isn't for sure given what happened and all, but I'll probably give a rough guess if nothing else.

Never heard of "Doctor Who". The Stargate ideas are pretty chill, but to someone who hasn't seen a whole lot of the series, it might be hard to bring in new players. The Matrix, however, being so widespread in the movies and stuff... yeah, totally gonna dork out here and toss my vote to that as well. Count me up as vote #3.

So, because we're creating our own story and thus history after the first two Matrixes, the 'Paradise' and the 'Hell' versions are taken offline and The One System is begun, I ask that you don't raise too much of a fuss about it.  If you feel that this isn't acceptable, we can try to come to a compromise but I don't want this to become canonical and all that until and IF we manage to get to where the movies begin.  Even then when characters from the films appears I doubt we'll go by the script save for very important events like how the War is ended and stuff like that.  Beyond that, and I doubt it'll be a problem anyway since I don't plan to get there for a very long time if at all, the Matrix is yours to shape as you see fit, as well as Zion itself.  So, without further pomp and circumstance, let's begin.

Looks good so far Antioch.  I updated the previous profile sheet a bit to include E oriented things but beyond that it's relatively the same.  To answer your question Sleeping Ferret, I'll be updating this thing with another profile sheet to make room for Computer Programs, I just need a bit of time first.  You can effectively run two characters, one for the humans and one for the Machines if you so prefer.  However, just like humans there will be categories for both Exiles, (programs that run and hide within the Matrix,) and those that work for the Machines and their digital vanguards, The Agent Programs among other things.  For now, concentrate on the human side until I get the other sheet going.  Thanks!

Background History of Subject(s).  Awareness level included;  Freed soldier, through and through, Angela Cross was considered one of the best pilots back inside the Matrix and now out of it due to her ten years at the helm of one ship or another.  With the war between the Machines and the human freed and born Zionites, Angela does all she can to make sure her new home is free to prosper and grow without pause.  Her ship, the Logos, has been key in slipping through Sentinel lines and blockaded areas many times in the past, and she doesn't plan to let her excellent record fall any time soon.  Those under her command know that she might be hard as ice on the outside, but her cold demeanor helps to bring out the best in those under her excellent command.

Born inside the Matrix, Angela was drafted at a young age and learned her trade quite quickly.  When her plane was shot down over enemy territory, Angela fled back to friendly controlled territory.  She found her way inside a cave for the night and saw the truth as random bits of code floated about the dimly lit expanse, though at the time she thought it was brought on by heat delirium from running across the desert.  The next morning saw the code gone and a U.S. helicopter landing outside to take her back home.  A few weeks in recovery 'stateside' had her face to face with her first Agent as it took over a doctor to kill another that had become aware.  She managed to keep herself hidden and freed the next day, and things hadn't been the same since.

The internet revolution was at it's peek and just kept rising. At 16 Erin found herself graduated from high school and at M.I.T. on the cutting edge of the technological world. She stayed at school for three years excelling, until she was picked up by a major softwear company and made a project leader.

Her professional life was going swimmingly No one could ask for more but privately she was getting in deep hacking. She found herself drawn into the shadowy cyber world. Word was spreading of something being off wrong in 'real' world. Erin chased the story pulled in by it and less then six months later she found the answer in a string of code and a whole new world.

Ever since little she has been a rough kid always getting into fights with boys at school and beating them up. She was never a bully in fact she defended people from bullies to the point that she got expelled because she got in a fight with the wrong bully and broke her nose and three of her ribs. Growing up she always believed that the world felt fake, like she was never doing enough in the world to even make a difference always controlled by people higher up she thought that her decisions were always made out for her.

Trying to make a difference in her life she enrolled in the Navy. She got in as a weapons expert and soon got her tittle as a sniper. She was known to be the best shot in the entire Navy and was known to be taken into difficult missions to kill top secret targets. She always obeyed orders even if she had to beat up her captain in order to get it done reason why she was often pushed into punishment because of that reason. Finally deciding to just roll along with the life placed after her she got to be a Navy Seal and achieved what she wanted in life. Now with nothing else to achieve she just live day by day like a machine, doing whatever it is ordered of her and hoping something better comes along.

However, when not doing his job, he's generally a quiet guy, rare to smile, and even rarer to gain his trust. He works out habitually, knowing that the only thing standing between him and a casket is being both limber and physically in peak condition.

Background History of Subject(s): It was once said that when the Matrix was first built there was a man born inside that had the ability to change what he wanted, to remake the Matrix as he saw fit. It was this man who freed the first of us and taught us the truth. When he died, the Oracle prophesied his return and envisioned that his coming would hail the destruction of the Matrix.

Oh how wrong they were.

Isaac is for the most part unaware that he is in a simulated program, aside from rare brushes with death that most would never walk away from. He deems himself lucky in that he seems to have a guardian angel with his job, but from time to time, stops to think about the oddities that he's run into with his dangerous line of work. The worst of these experiences being one of his driving stunts. They had closed down a part of the highway to film a high speed chase, which had ended in a wreck, thanks to a driver not paying attention to cues. Isaac's car had flipped three times before it landed on the underpass below, where he was able to climb out with only minor bruises here and there.

His vision has begun to flicker as of late, everyday places changing into mere shapes defined by flowing numbers. He has no idea what it means, and quite honestly thinks he may be going crazy. Recently, he has taken a few days off, hoping that working seven days a week for the past six years or so is what is causing all of the odd happenings in his mind. His stressful life is about to take a turn for shit creek, and there are no paddles present in his condo that rests twenty floors up on the Florida beachfront.

Capabilities;  Superhuman strength, speed, and able to jump between bodies that are still plugged into the Matrix systems.  Agents are impossible to truly kill since the moment of death makes them jump into another body.  Because this is the first incarnation of them though, they are still a work in progress.

Personality and Habits/Tendencies;  Cold, calculating, and entirely single minded, Agents are ruthless and efficient killing Programs.  Jenny Smith is more than that though since she has a bit more of a personality.  Jenny is a dominating individual unafraid to cause pain to others if it gets her answers to questions that need them.  That, and she gets sexually charged when interrogating a strong mind, and is not afraid to tease and torture either sex until they give her what she wants....should they survive that long of course.  They normally don't....

Background History  Jenny Smith, the earliest version of the Agent Smith Program, was created in response to the growing threat of outside influence posed by the fighters coming out of Zion.  Unlike her male counterparts, 'Jenny' is utterly ruthless and dominating to any and all persons she comes into contact with.  Despite being created by the Machines who she serves without question, Jenny is given unique privileges since she's a test bed for future Agents, meaning she is allowed to do anything she wants so long as she gets the job done.  She has all the trappings of a regular Agent with a cold hearted personality only matched by her hatred for all Freed.  The other thing though to worry about is that should you be unfortunate enough to be in her custody, she normally strips down her captives to their birthday suits and tortures them, physically, emotionally, and sexually if given a chance.  All in all, Jenny is one woman that Hell cannot match.

Background History:   There is absolutely nothing known about Michael Wolf, he is just one of the new programs for The Matrix, he lives in Mega City. No one really knows what his real goal is, just him. Michael is the type of person that can keep a big secret even if it would kill him. Background History First created to terrorize the humans in the hell version of the matrix she was found to be obsolete after the matrix was redesigned into Mega City. She was though to be used in concert with the new Agent program but with choice was too cruel and impulsive in nature and because of that was slated for deletion but she loathed to return to the source. Where was the fun in that? She made a deal with the frenchman and hid now she drifts seeking pleasure within the matrix guided by nothing.

She has a standing fight with the Agent programs. She often shows up where they are drawn to them because of the way she was rewritten after the shift to Mega city. She fights them constantly and often finds herself on the same side as the redpills because of this. In the past she's helped them to gain their ends because it amused her to work with them against the machines who would delete her, but with no loyalties she just as quickly turned on them if they gained her disfavor. Her only constant is her hate of the Agents that can be counted on no matter the circumstance.

The machines see her as dangerous because of her tendency to try to fight the Agents though it's a practice in futility with they're inability to die. She works as something of a hired gun for the frenchman when he is in need with her but their relationship is strained in many regards since she no longer owes him anything and he doesn't posses her kill code. Anything she does for him she does because she chooses to of her own free will though more often then not she'll serve him just to have something to do.

She doesn't get along with many of the other Exiles who have found a place for themselves among the Matrix where she has made a point of making trouble and not settling into a new role of any kind. Her only perpose seems to be making trouble and throwing a new element of trouble into an already tense situation.

She enjoys trading and in the past several years has been said to trade services or information with red pills but they are rumors that are hard to trace. No one living seems to have met her though sightings are abound aplenty. More often then not when agents are around she's not far behind weather she engages them or not. She seems to stalk their movements even if she doesn't openly attack them.

Even when she does engage them in the past she wasn't hardened or rude about it, she'd banter almost playfully with them. It was part of their system evolved over hundreds of years. She'd attack because she was driven to they'd try to end her because she was an Exile, a circle endless until she was killed.

The last year she's been inactive except for a few 'errands' done for the frenchman and stalking the Agents, specifically Jenny who she enjoys taunting. She's currently living with the frenchman and was last sighted in Mega City watching agents in a street race with a few freed humans.

Capabilities: His programming still retains the same super strength and speed common to Agents.  He is also an expert in many forms of martial arts (his 1 vs. 1 combat skills are 2nd only to The One).  Seraph's hyperjump capability is also beyond that of most exiles and red pills.  He also has a set of keys, capable of accessing The Matrix's network of backdoors.

Personality and Habits/Tendencies:   As the Oracle's protector, he currently acts like an advanced CHAP protocol (Or more correctly put in Seraph's case a Challenge-response protocol).  Typically using hand to hand fighting as the challenge for someone to prove their identity.  Otherwise, he appears to be a quiet Asian man.  In fact, unless he is engaged in combat or any other serious manner he has a smile on his face and can typically found sipping tea or meditating.

While capable of defeating any entity aside from The One in 1 vs. 1 combat, Seraph does keep a pair of 9mm Beretta M9s, that seem to just appear from under his white coat.

When you can Ferret, I'd much appreciate it if you would get the rest of your profile looking like everyone else's but you have a good start even if it was from your phone at the time.  Freak, I love the idea but there's a few problems.  One, this is version 1.0 of the Matrix and as such he wouldn't be technically able to be a rogue Agent, and as such he wouldn't be as tough as you make him sound in that regard.  Two, plugged in and jacked in are two different things here, the first referring to those still unaware of where they are and thus unable to leave for the real world unless woken up.  Beyond that he's good, just you need to fix him up a bit.

Riley Reed had finally finished her medical degree and was serving the day of her residency when she was pulled unceremoniously from the Matrix for reasons that are still unknown.  She was picked up by the Osiris had has served on it ever since, adjusting quickly to the life outside of the Matrix because her soft heart allowed her to escape through helping others.  With the most natural medical experience, that had not been learned through computer training, she treats the crew of the Osiris in and out of the Matrix.  She is also commonly used as a Runner, a person sent solo into the Matrix to transfer information packages between crews because she has one of the best abilities to bend the Matrix for jumping along with the ease of her to locate escape routes.

Her codename, Bugs, comes her previous plugged in life.  When she became a doctor her family would commonly greet her with the popular Bugs Bunny Phrase "What's up Doc?"  When her friends caught wind of the joke they started calling her "Bugs" and the name stuck with her all throughout medical school.  Now, that she has been pulled from the Matrix she kept the nickname, refusing to go by Riley.  In the Matrix, she cannot help but envy those who are still plugged in and the luxuries of their life.  She did not get a choice of pills as others on her crew did and she honestly does not know what she would have chosen given the choice.  Either way it could have gone does not matter and she lives day to day indifferent to most things, having lost her love of life when her's was ripped from her.

Well, to answer your question my good fellow, Fen is currently on her own but she's a runner herself.  I think she'd be happy with the company of another if you're willing to work on the same ship with her.  Beyond that it's your call buddy.  I could use more human characters but I allow everyone to play both a human and a computer program character.

Jackson found release early as an odd and uncharacteristic sort of flight of fancy.  He had finally perfected his most daring to date skate board trick and nailed it at a height that was unheard of for any of his friends, and he kept flying, completely breaking the laws of physics... I have seen alot of neat rp lite systems on the forum here.  D81 is one, and an rp lite that rubyslippers has in a post here abouts that crashes my post every time I try to link it here -sighs-  I think that a character build up will help us, though we can probably by and large deal with all we need to in post.  More to follow.

I would like to play in a universe not portrayed by the movies.  However, as Warner brothers portrayed the war of human vs machine: I want to stick to this by and large.  In my proposed universe, humans will not be utterly controlled to the point of continual extinction.  They will have several 'Zions' and will have a reasonable combat (unlike the guerrilla warfare in movie) approach to the machines.  Humans will rarely ascend to the surface.  Yet they will battle the machines continually.  The battle lines will be drawn in the old city complexes above the human settlements underground.  Humans will have their ships.  I want my universe to have more of refined quality to it.  Since humanity will be at a nearly even footing with the machines, their ships will not be so rag tag.  In fact, they will be 'star wars'-ish, like Lucas' first three movies.  Not shined to a chrome finish, but elegant.  Same repulsor lift technology.  Same barrel fed weapons for ease of replication.  I would like to encourage some ion weapon development for better machine management in game.  The character that picks up that task will be blessed by the gm  -.-

The machines will have developed the same energy management they did in the movies, which would be why this is a 'Matrix' style game vs a terminator one.  Ships will be set up to broadcast and fight the machines at their very core of survival, their power source.  The more minds freed by humanity, the better the war vs the machines goes.  In the Matrix, posts will be dealt with in separate threads if in the case of a mission that is supported by several human uploads.  If Matrix situations like encouragement of a npc human enslaved to the matrix to join the human resistances happens, with no by and large consequence by the machines, this can be handled in individual threads.  These individual threads would be entitled after the character and would contain their 'duty logs' from their matrix watches.  When agents are met, a system will be invoked.  It will represent the response of 'programs' to your incursion into the matrix to do whatever it is that you go there to do.

I do not want to follow canon.  No Neo.  No the one, no savior, no interdependence on the machines and the perpetual survival of Zion one and solely for humanity to survive.

My idea in regards to this forum is to find no more than 8 and no less than 4 to run a ship.  I am brand new here and have never successfully run anything like a group of rpers in my life.  I would need help.  I would hope that my weight and decision would help clarify any deviations from the matrix idea, thus firmly keep me in the loop.  I can also help in the day to day to keep an idea like this running.  Story ideas can be easily come up with, and I would be willing to write these up.  I may bug my help with them, partial bowing to my OCD to keep my posts good...

This is my idea.  I have no intent of starting right outta the gate with this to a game.  I hope to however generate dialogue to my own further refining of said idea so that it is indeed game-able.

Not sure if my opinion counts any more past a second runner on my ship (I keep calling it that even thought I'm not captain just because I was the first one on it  ;D) but I agree with Verg on the whole trying to keep it closer to the movies- mostly since we already started.  Though sometimes I think we stick too close to phrases and happenings of the movie especially since it is supposed to be before them.  But that's just me.

If we hadn't I would gladly explore a Matrix vs Terminator world.  It would create more dynamic. 

I've seen the Animatrix Aether and I particularly like the kid who jumped from the building and woke up.  The runner was depressing to me because he didn't actually make it out.  But to be honest my favorite short in the film is the last one where the human's are convincing machines to fight for them by changing their concept of realities.  It would be fun to do that sometime.  You could always opt for a pilot outside of the matrix and weapons expert in that way we wouldn't be "running" into each other.  *laughs at her own pun like a loser*

I tend to lean towards a more self sufficient sort of writing style, which usually includes more npcs to advance my ideas and fill in the gaps, so I can certainly accommodate you.

Besides, I see a scene in our future that includes Axle piloting the Osiris and Bugs trying to make it to a hard line while swarms of squiddies chases the Osiris.  Can anyone say 'the last flight...?'

After I created my character as a Runner and I was trying to decide what ship I wanted to be on... That is the *exact* reason that I picked the Osiris.  Though I wouldn't think that this character would do that trip since it is a different cycle but what do I know.

*thwaps Vergil* Ahem, a lil late.  But I've been busy.  Anyways... It's The One or Seraph for a win in toe to toe versus an Agent.

The One > Seraph > Agents > Exiles/Unplugged(trained)

*The above only applies if the Exile in question wasn't an Agent.  If the Exile was an Agent, they'd retain their greater combat ability than other Exiles.  Altered programs such as in the case if the Agent Smith virus again bend the rules.

And if you consider the above, that's really only because The One can literally alter anything, thus he can fly, walk on water, walk on air and spin kick you in the head....etc etc. 

Put in quick terms, Seraph would be like a program version of The One; he just can't go around bending everything to his will.  But he will kick you in the head and make your head spin.
