Yushu Academy, University for Gifted Prodigies!

There exists a school for the brightest young men and women of their generation.  It's doors have been open for a proud hundred years, established with the best of intentions (and incredibly generous donations).  The greatest prodigies the country has ever known, all  to be placed under one roof.  The world's youngest and most promising mathematicians, musicians, artists, athletes, and inventors: all interacting and working off one another.   


More than a few famous celebrities of various types have been known to emerge from the halls of Yushu Academy.




Thoughts and Hopes in relation to character creation:

Prodigy type:  The main focus here is making it varied.  I am pulling a little bit from Dangan Ronpa here in the sense that your character can be ANY kind of prodigy.  Yes, there are prodigies in art and music, but why CAN'T there be a prodigy in writing, or in baseball, or in fashion?  Have fun with it.  I want there to be as many different types of prodigies represented as possible.

Country of Origin:  I love the idea of making this game as widespread globally as possible.  Characters can have multiple backgrounds for their characters from their parents, however, I do request that your characters have lived in one place permanently. So for example, if a character is half Japanese and American or even half French and British, please choose one of those places from their heritage to be from.

Rules:

1. Be respectful to yourself and other players.  This is a game.  We should be having fun.
2. No god-moding.  This is a game with characters who are incredibly gifted in one specific category, but even in that category they aren't gods.
3. OOC chat should only take place in the OOC.
4. 1 post a week minimum, but if you need to take a leave of absence just inform the group and its fine. This game will be mildly sandbox in pace, so we don’t want anyone feeling like they are being rushed or pressured.
5.  Quality and detail.  I expect a two paragraph minimum.  MINIMUM.
6. No meta gaming. If you do not know what meta gaming is, that is when you learn of something about another person’s character out of game that your own character could not possibly know in game and claim that somehow, they knew about it. Or taking out of game knowledge and using it in a particular situation.

Information must be obtained organically in game.
7. Use of header is required. Please remember to keep track of your date and time if you are going to have multiple scenes going on at once, the purpose of the headers is to help keep us organized.
8. No characters under the age of eighteen. 
9. Faceclaims. Please provide proof for me that your faceclaim is 18 or older. We've had issues with this and we don't want another message sent to us.

Prodigy Type: Carpentry

Personality: In far contrast to her friend, Nanase, Haruna is clearly the voice of reason in the contrasting duo. She always comes of as very strict and calm as she goes about her day, always getting a good view of the situation before she barges in. Hence, she commonly tends to be the one keeping the math wiz from getting herself killed in another flight of curiosity. People often mistake her as a single mother trying to keep her rowdy child in line.

Country of Origin: Japan

Background: Haruna was mostly an indoors type of girl, preferring to master her wood-based projects in her parents yard. However, she eventually began encountering the childlike wonder of the girl next door as the silver-haired prodigy seemed awful curious of the deadly tools she saw from the other side of the fence. Several times of keeping Nanase from getting hurt later had resulted in a sort of odd friendship being formed between the pair. While she had no interest of traveling abroad, she ended up applying to the academy out of a worry for the whimsical ball of energy's health.
 
Sexual Preferences: Compared to her friend, Haruna comes off as very passive in terms of the more lewder aspects of life. However, it isn't like the more "perverse applications" of her craft haven't crossed her mind. Especially with a certain person. Either way, if such a thing came up, she would mostly likely be taking the top in her relationships.

Appearance:  5'8, with a slender hourglass figure both her bust and ass are well proportioned. Striking blue eyes look out from under dyied white and pink hair. Always wearing a large pair of headphones round her neck or over her ears. Lavender tends to wear overly large tops with ripped jeans

Personality:  Friendly and outgoing. Extremely fun and knows how to hold her drink. Can be a bit of a mother hen and people tend to tell her all there problems. Deeply romantic she dreams of singing on stage and falling in love with the Baritone singing opposite her. Inquisative and quick to defend her loved ones.

Country of Origin:  England

Background:Lavender is a rainbow baby, for years her parents struggled and failed to conceive and they had given up all hopes of having a family when her mother discovered she was pregnant. Their joy quickly doused when the pregnancy made her mother extremely unwell and the doctors advised her to abort but Millie held on to that little baby's life and 8 months later Lavender was born. Right from the moment she opened her eyes she loved music, whenever it was playing the baby Lavender could be heard gargling along to it happily and the parents found to their supprise that her emotions seemed to match the songs. Sad songs made her cry from a very young age.

However her parents couldn't afford to enrol her in any prestigiously gifted schools but little Lavender found her way I'm to the church choir and soon her voice could be heard souring through the church rafters. Lavender breezed through the school without issues in secondary school Lavender's Drama teacher began an after school dining group with  Lavender front and center. As she was finishing senior school Lavender came across the Tokkem schooling Program  and began to investigate, hoping to find somewhere she could train her voice professionally, because of her good grades she managed to win a scholarship into the school.

Name: Justin Bolero

Age: 19

Appearance: Justin ended up towering over his classmates early at 6'3", with a strong, but a wiry frame that tended to remind people more of a swimmer's physique than of a brute. Various small scars are scattered over his skin, along with a slight crook in the middle of his nose. He generally wears clothing that is more comfortable than flashy, usually jeans and a T-Shirt but is committed many dress code infractions with school uniforms for wearing it improperly. Dark chocolate hair is messily unkempt and spiky short, and a set of brown eyes tend to make people uneasy with intensity, even in common situations.

Sexual Orientation: Bi, though no one has stopped to ask.

Tier: 1st

Prodigy Type: Brawling/Fighting

Personality: Justin is a quiet person usually, preferring to stick to himself and not bother others. He spent a long time in his home being told that he was in impedance and a mistake (mostly from drunk parents), so he just internalized that. He struggles with self-esteem and ever being seen as worth someone's time and makes the base assumption that either he's being used or he's being tolerated around friends.

But, despite that, he'll throw himself into danger time and time again to defend other people. He feels that even if he's worthless, the least he can do is keep other people safe so they can be the best they can. He is selfless only because he doesn't value himself, but he consistently holds others ability's in high regard. He uses that feeling of making sure others succeed to dig deep when he needs it, making defeat never an option. Because if he fails, that's one less person to help make the world better.

Country of Origin: America. Baton Rouge, LA.

Background: Born to a prostitute, it was made very clear from his birth that he was a waste of space. He never knew who his dad was and grew up without much guidance. His mother would send him out by himself when she could and paid for childcare only when absolutely necessary. This lead to many nights wandering the streets of Baton Rouge, getting to know other prostitutes (not in a bad way), and other lowlifes who took pity on the kid. It also gave him experience on how hard life could be when he got jumped and robbed of his bike one day. He vowed never to let anything take anything from him again, leading to a very aggressive and violent personality to come forward.

He was loud and brash in his younger years, especially in middle school, picking on everyone and lashing out to hurt others for the pain he suffered at home, until one day, instead of a parent lashing out at him for hurting their kid, one of his victim's mothers invited him over for dinner. The young boy whom he had hurt displayed a little fear, but mostly wanted to be friends, taking after his mother.

That night was the best night he'd had in a long time, the warmth from that small family showing him that not everyone was so bad. And instead of punishing those around him, he should protect those people who had nothing. It was an almost complete 180. Justin went from school bully to protector, but he exchanged his bully friends for just one or two solid relationships with close friends.

He suffers academically, having little patience for people telling him what to do, but skates by with the help from the smaller people he helps. He's stood off against bullies, delinquents, gangs, and even other schools trying to mess with his, and to date, he's never lost a fight. He is highly unskilled in his fights, relying mostly on strength and power to win the day, as well as an iron will to never stay down. He was hospitalized a few times but made recoveries that doctors said shouldn't have happened.

It took several meetings with Justin to convince him that he was actually being invited to a private academy, and he almost instantly accepted with little convincing. He said that his family wouldn't miss him and his rep had secured the school enough that he felt comfortable leaving. He was transferred the next day.

Sexual Preferences: Mostly women, but he's okay with men too if there's an interest. Does enjoy a nice feminine male or a trap. He hasn’t experienced much with sex, as that was his mother’s profession, but he doesn't see anything wrong with it. He just doesn’t feel that anyone would like him in that kind of way. He’ll have to be knocked over the head with sexy times before he’ll get it. Probably a caring lover unless his switch is flipped, then he’ll turn into an animal.

Extra: Has a fear of cockroaches due to poor living conditions and a particularly bad memory.

Potential plots: I'd love to see him open up a bit more, find more of himself through something like a martial art training, or a senpai of some sort who can help build his esteem. It will be difficult to break through that deep-rooted doubt, but he's really a softy for someone who will spend the time on him.

Name: Nanase Kousaka 

Age: 18

Appearance: Nanase is kinda short (156 cm or 5' 1,5"), but she does have a curvy, well developed body for her age. Her bust, specially, often draw attention of her male friends. Her eyes are blue but, in certain light, it can show a hue closer to gray. She always use her silver hair tied up in twintails. Her wardrobe is almost composed of very girlish clothes, with lots of skirts, dresses and tighhighs. She uses no underwear whatsoever, though!

Prodigy Type: Math

Personality: Nanase is probably the most trusting, innocent and ditzy person in the world. If she's supposed to steal some candy from a child, she would be the one robbed by the child instead. And later she would tell her misadventure with a smile in face.

The way her mind works isn't so far from an infant. Everything amazes her. The world is a big playground, where she could live many, many adventures. She have a unquenchable curiosity and she's always asking questions about how stuff works. However, she's easily scared and respects authority from elder people (even if the elder in question is just a few days older than her). Nanase have trouble to fit into social customs, because she simply can't understand them.

She does have an amazing proficiency in mathematics. Nanase can make complex operations with big numbers in her mind, pretty much like a calculator. Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, there's no field that hold any mystery for the girl. If it does, she can learn it secrets quickly. Nanase can't develop new theories in math yet, but this is more due to her personality and character than anything else. It's almost like she doesn't have conscience of her own gifted skill and what she can do with it.

Country of Origin: Japan

Background: Nanase had a pretty common life until her parents became concerned about her childlike behavior. She always had almost perfect grades in math, but, besides that, nothing indicated she was a genius in that area. It was her therapist, a math enthusiast, that first discovered her gift. Oh, and he found nothing wrong with the girl's mind. Counseling her parents to foster Nanase' skills, he indicated the Academy. After an entire year working hard, Nanase made the entrance exam and finally earned her place in the school.
 
Sexual Preferences: Bi-curious. Her innocent, carefree demeanor pervades in how she deals with most aspects of her life, even sexual ones. She's a naturist by heart and doesn't have any inch of shame into exposing her body, though she would never do that to seduce anyone. Neither she understands the perverted or reproachful stares she might earn for that. Nanase doesn't know much about sex, since she's still a virgin. In her most deep conception, it's something harmless and fun that very close friends (or couples in love) do. Appearance: Standing at 6ft2 with a lean frame, Sam keeps his body in good condition in order to maintain the highest concentration possible. Not exactly a fitness buff, his arms and legs are slightly muscled from daily workouts and runs. Black parted hair crowns his head with dark brown eyes set onto a slightly chiseled face to complete his visuals.

Prodigy Type: eSports. Mainly Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games, Massive Online Battle Arenas and First-Person Shooter games

Personality: He can be seen as slightly socially awkward, being glued to a computer for most days to perfect his skills has made his old friends see him as a 'shut in' or 'nerd' as what foreign students would call him. Given the demographics before the rise of sSports, he's also more used to being around boys instead of girls, although he did have a few acquaintances of the opposite sex. On the outside, he's known to be extremely competitive when it comes to video games or eSports, and more than one viewer or gamer has accused him of being insensitive to other people, or in his own words - Being brutally honest.

However, with eSports previously receiving little to no backing, Zhang Li has spent most of his winnings supporting fellow competitors fell on hard times. With the prize pool only recently getting bigger, the gamer was known in the tight circles of professional gaming as one who shares his winnings to provide others with a modest lifestyle, while not splurging much on personal pleasures. When asked about this rumor in the past, Zhang Li would only reply with - "当时没有人支持我们作为游戏玩家，人们并没有将竞争游戏视为未来。因为他们牺牲了多少，当他们退出游戏时，他们几乎没有什么技能。什么社区不能支持自己的呼叫？也许这就是我们多年来成长如此之多的原因。" (Google translated from "Back then there was no one to support us as gamers, and people did not see competitive gaming as a future. Country of Origin: China

Background: Born in Shanghai, China, Zhang Li spent his youth in Singapore where he was exposed to LAN centers and video games at a young age. He has always been fascinated by computers as he never had a personal device, and the thrill of competing against friends and strangers was something he looked forward to every weekend. His parents initially disapproved of his gaming habit, but Zhang Li, whose English name is 'Sam', managed to juggle both his studies and gaming hobbies together, winning a few local tournaments at the age of 10 while scoring As and Bs in an equally competitive educational system.

Upon his return to China after his father was done with his business, Sam continued to pursue his hobby of gaming, clocking up to sixteen hours a day in front of a computer challenging online game records and other achievements. A favorite hobby was writing guides and formula together with a group of like-minded individuals, and receiving some funding from websites who hosted these guides. As the eSports scene started to grow, Sam rose to be one of the prominent young talents in Shanghai, winning a city-wide tournament while displaying exceptional multitasking skills and possessing a high level of coordination and reaction.

He officially entered a professional eSports team at the age of 18, 5 years after he began a career in pub games and local tournaments. That age also meant that he completed most of his formal education with a diploma in Computer Science before entering the world of eSports as a true professional. However, Team 3K (Team Three Kingdoms), his employers, decided to further his development by sending him over to Yushu, where he could both develop himself as a person, his abilities, and maturity while participating in tournaments from Yushu's great infrastructure.

It is his Fourth Year in Yushu, and since then he has transformed from a regional prodigy to an international contender for some of eSport's biggest prizes.

Sexual Preferences: Given that he only had a short relationship with a LAN cafe assistant, Sam isn't that experienced in sexual matters, although he doesn't mind exploring more of this aspect.

Name: Anthony Nasteal

Age: 19

Appearance: His hair is unkempt with a light curl that seems to always perk up on his brow. His hair is a grey black coloring which doesn't make him look any younger at all. This is matched by the grey black eyes that keep upon someone despite the slight bags underneath is usually overworked mind. His school uniform occasionally has a few wrinkles in it because he doesn't iron his clothes and because he sucks at laundry. He has a limber looking body from some of the enforced gym classes he has to take and has learned to stay nimble just in case he needs to run like hell. The young nerd may not look it but he has some decent stamina.

Prodigy Type: Computer Programing & Assembly

Personality:  Anthony is a trickster as he has a tendency to play bad jokes and pranks on friends and enemies alike. He isn't really used to being close to ladies. He doesn't really tend to socialize much in the physical aspects preferring text over talking, simply because he can put his thoughts to words better. As such he tends to jumble his sentences when talking with other people, especially when he gets excited or when he finds someone attractive and it is at it's worst when he has to talk with a woman in real life. Anthony can have a few triggers that can send him into rants such as shows he likes or such but its a figurative minefield right there due to some inner fanboyism. He is also a bit of a caffeine addict, often using such beverages to keep himself awake and alert past normal sleeping hours. Once someone breaks through his shell, he is much more capable of talking to them and feels more relaxed.

Yet despite all of this, when it comes to computers and technology he is calm, and completely sure of himself to an almost frightening degree. Instead of being nervous and giddy he is collected and able to assert dominance easily. But he has a very creative imagination and add in the fact that he is a bit of a closet pervert, he could become quite adventurous if he found someone that can make him come out of his shell. There is a potentially dominant and confident individual underneath if he is put within the right circumstances. Secretly he hopes to break out of his comfort zone and prove he is worthwhile.

Country of Origin: Italy

Background: Anthony never really was the type to be selected from birth to excel at anything. Initially he didn't as his schooling didn't note anything exceptional. It was as if he didn't really concern himself with it and often went out of his way to avoid social contact as best as he could. Didn't help that his childhood had a small bullying problem so he learned not to openly trust people. As a result he grew up pretty introverted and made few friends and actually wound up in several forms of special education. He didn't really hit his stride until he was in junior high school. It was by odd chance that he was assigned to computer labs merely learning how to type but also learning how to use DOS as well. This was where he began to grow an interest in coding and computers.

He would spend most of his free time in the computer labs with the older models, pulling them apart and reassembling them into more efficient machines. Pouring over text and putting into practice codes and commands, eventually working his way up to actual programming. A natural talent in this regard, coding came easily to him. It was this aspect that pulled him up from special education classes and back into mainstream. He hated it but if it allowed him to pursue one of the few things that held his interest it was a fair trade. The point where he drew proper attention was when he entered into a stress test for a leading company in matters of cyber security and cracked the systems in under a few minutes due to how woefully behind they were with programming and updating systems. This was what lead Yushu Academy to offer an invitation to him in his chosen fields.

His school uniform occasionally has a few wrinkles in it because he doesn't iron his clothes and because he sucks at laundry. He has a limber looking body from some of the enforced gym classes he has to take and has learned to stay nimble just in case he needs to run like hell. The young nerd may not look it but he has some decent stamina.

Personality:  Anthony is a trickster as he has a tendency to play bad jokes and pranks on friends and enemies alike. He isn't really used to being close to ladies. He doesn't really tend to socialize much in the physical aspects preferring text over talking, simply because he can put his thoughts to words better. As such he tends to jumble his sentences when talking with other people, especially when he gets excited or when he finds someone attractive and it is at it's worst when he has to talk with a woman in real life. Anthony can have a few triggers that can send him into rants such as shows he likes or such but its a figurative minefield right there due to some inner fanboyism. He is also a bit of a caffeine addict, often using such beverages to keep himself awake and alert past normal sleeping hours. Once someone breaks through his shell, he is much more capable of talking to them and feels more relaxed.

Yet despite all of this, when it comes to computers and technology he is calm, and completely sure of himself to an almost frightening degree. Instead of being nervous and giddy he is collected and able to assert dominance easily. But he has a very creative imagination and add in the fact that he is a bit of a closet pervert, he could become quite adventurous if he found someone that can make him come out of his shell. There is a potentially dominant and confident individual underneath if he is put within the right circumstances. Secretly he hopes to break out of his comfort zone and prove he is worthwhile.

Background: Anthony never really was the type to be selected from birth to excel at anything. Initially he didn't as his schooling didn't note anything exceptional. It was as if he didn't really concern himself with it and often went out of his way to avoid social contact as best as he could. Didn't help that his childhood had a small bullying problem so he learned not to openly trust people. As a result he grew up pretty introverted and made few friends and actually wound up in several forms of special education. He didn't really hit his stride until he was in junior high school. It was by odd chance that he was assigned to computer labs merely learning how to type but also learning how to use DOS as well. This was where he began to grow an interest in coding and computers.

He would spend most of his free time in the computer labs with the older models, pulling them apart and reassembling them into more efficient machines. Pouring over text and putting into practice codes and commands, eventually working his way up to actual programming. A natural talent in this regard, coding came easily to him. It was this aspect that pulled him up from special education classes and back into mainstream. He hated it but if it allowed him to pursue one of the few things that held his interest it was a fair trade. The point where he drew proper attention was when he entered into a stress test for a leading company in matters of cyber security and cracked the systems in under a few minutes due to how woefully behind they were with programming and updating systems. This was what lead Yushu Academy to offer an invitation to him in his chosen fields.

Since Leia's mother had taught her to sew at a very young age she could make her own costumes. This was a major plus to the industries that didn't have much money to spend on a movie. As a result she started getting cast in plays and eventually movies. Her mother came to every show and rehersal to help out and watch her child grow. Sometimes she realized too late that a show only wanted her daughter because she'd do the work for free or nearly zero pay. Leia was stuck in these kinds of intustries for around two years. When she was ten a major producer decided to cast her as a minor role in their movie and it became very popular. Her name started spreading and the same producer realized how much love she was getting from the fans for the part she played and decided to cast her as a supporting lead three years later. From there her acting career skyrocketed. Since she was becoming more popular and her dad had left them when Leia started to put more focus on acting than making friends her own age. She started to get forty year old males claiming to be her dad and wishing to start over with her. Of course they were reported since they were harrassing her about how much she'd grown. Her mother still came to ever rehersal and show to show her support but eventually Leia started having a harder time communicating with people outside her role. Most people in the industy figured that's acting as her role even outside the set helped her get into character and feel what the character would and it did. She was amazing on set, it never came off as fake or unrealistic and when the population found out she was also helping behind the scenes with costumes, hair, and make-up she became that much more loved for all her hard work. She was used to people praising her and complementing her so one day when she had a few extra minutes to herself she decided to read the commemts online and was really shocked by all the hate surrounding her name. Titles like "Stuck-Up Wannabe" and "Producer's Slut" circled the web where people went on full hate rants about her. She bent over her phone and cried hugging her phone to her chest like it could protect her. Her mother noticed and ran towards. She wasn't sure what happened because she wasn't paying attention but she heard a huge crash and people yelling to call an ambulance. She tried to process what was going on but the more she tried the more her mind went blank. Later she was told that her mom tripped on one of the wires causing her one of the huge set camera to crash on top of her. She announced that she was taking a break from the flim industry to help take care of her mom and that the current movie they were working on was to be her last. This caused more hate to circulate around her especially since she had to play a cheerful girl who loved baking whenever possible. People came up with new titles like "Loving Mother's Pain" and "Immature Actress Can't Handle Anything." She decided to enroll back into school using some of the money she's made as an actress to pay her fees.
