Yeah, I get what you mean.  Frex, I think my character is probably not good at basic adventuring.  He knows how to go on hikes and travel by foot, and I suspect that Dungeoneering means he's better than a novice spelunker, but if you told him to go delve into a dungeon and go room to room clearing monsters and picking up treasure, he'd be flabbergasted by the notion.  He's way more likely to take on discrete (if dangerous) tasks, and complete them in the most precise way possible.

The genre-conventions of door spikes and fifty-foot ropes and so on and so forth would be pretty alien to him.  You'll note that he isn't even carrying an actual weapon, I only added the notation that his walking stick could probably function as a club as an afterthought.  His psionic powers give him adequate means of self-defense, but he doesn't usually expect trouble unless he goes looking for it.

He's also got some other deficiencies I've discussed with the DM; the more fantastic elements of the world are still likely to surprise him, or at least be unfamiliar.

Reminds me, I always mean to glance over other PCs' skills and try to have mine complement...for example K(dungeoning) is a ranger skill I didn't use, which is good, since yours has it. I also thought of my character is not very familiar with delving for treasure, having had almost exclusively aboveground nonurban experience.

We have an interesting party, very non-cliche, in that Nyx and Feyua are barely armed with weapons, very different from the typical party which is warrior-heavy with lots of big swaggering weapons.

That's rough.  Chrome and Firefox are both pretty good about letting me just hit the forward button again, and the text I've entered will still be in-place.

I'm going to go ahead and fill this out, just for the sake of completeness.  It might make a useful short-form for anyone wanting to note my character's general nature at a glance.

1.
2. Nyx
3. Psion
4. Nyx is the last scion of a decayed noble house in a far-off land.  He has come to escape his prior circumstances, and also to see and know more of the world and himself.
5. Nyx is driven by an obsession with the depths of his own potential, psychic and otherwise.  He is fascinated by the world of the mind and enjoys exploring its mysteries.  He would also like for his physical body to be housed in a fine manor house, preferably with several good servants and a vault full of treasure.  Thus insulated from contact with the world at large, he could continue to attempt to accelerate the strange physical and mental changes that have been at work inside him ever since puberty
6. This PC is really built for non-con and mind-control/reading type scenarios.  He does in fact have a pair of tentacles, although he keeps them concealed beneath his clothing in all normal circumstances.  He's likely to go after N/PCs with interesting minds - any of them that are particularly innocent or otherwise intriguing will attract him.
7. I'm happy to try and help, although my skills are merely adequate.  I can advise someone on how not to make an underpowered character, but for those who seek greater heights than typical, I probably can't serve them very well.

Heehee, that's refreshing...IMO not even DnD chars (or fictional chars in general) are motivated by material wealth (when you consider how it drives everything in the real world)

Mind-control non-con does seem logical for a psion. And dare I ask, where are the tentacles? Hmm - psion with tentacles - does he have a mind flayer in his ancestry?

They're attached around his lower torso, probably toward the outside of his lower back.

He has some kind of aberration in his ancestry, but I don't think it's specifically a mind-flayer.  I think it's more likely to be a high-end unique aberration that he descended from, since it's bloodline is still going strong after so many generations.

cool so are we doing 6x max  or rolling it?

WyzardWhately

Hasn't been specified.  I took the average and multiplied it times six (this would be 900gp in your case), then decided my character wouldn't have that much money and so only used a fraction of it.

why not?

It's been a long time since I frequented mythweavers, so I don't know exactly what you need to adjust, but you have the sheet set so that other users cannot view it.  You need to make it publicly viewable for us to be able to see it; sadly I no longer know precisely how one does that.

What are its abilities and level adjustment?

It's a kind of a template.  It's a way that humanoid creatures can become undead.  You don't lose any of your old stuff, since you're still "human" or whatever.  You just happen to no longer have any life processes.  You can actually get it in-play, and it just results in you losing a level, which is not-quite-the-same as a +1 LA.  And, y'know, a cleric could ruin your fucking day.

I ask because he's got a bunch of trail rations, which makes me wonder if he enjoys feeding the birds or something.   ;D

Oh wow, that's a really good deal. Over time losing a level is much better than an LA, b/c lower level characters get more XP (for every two levels down you level twice as fast - ex: if a L14 char gets 1400 from an encounter, a L12 char will get 2x1200=2400...for one level down, it's 4/3rds to 3/2s as fast) and catch up (or may 'leapfrog').

All the undead immunities are well worth turning..you can be turned or rebuked, but you're immune to Enchantment spells which do similar things to living creatures (and poison, disease, crits, etc.)....and it takes a cleric of 2x your level to destroy or command you, which is a CR inappropriate encounter anyway (the DM could just as easily use Finger of Death etc. on living creatures.). And let me guess, it has turn resistance (most intelligent undead seem too).

I'd be tempted to say we should do an undead party (since many living chars wouldn't get along iwth them anyway - like if I were still playing a Paladin) except I'm already attached to my char.  ::) Also, at the rate forum RPGs tend to go, that may take awhile to catch up in level.

WyzardWhately

Turn Resistance +2.

I think there are some other disadvantages (Being dead is kinda unsexy to many, Undeath to Death, the requirement to hide your nature, etc.), but there are certainly builds that can take advantage of it.
