Wizard of Oz with a Dark Twist [Accepting Players!]

Here's another idea I had. Yes, Wizard of Oz with a dark twist. We have to kill the great and all powerful oz. Every character must have a dark twist to them. Even Toto. Think American McGee's Alice.

Oh yeah, it doesn't have to be just the characters from the Wizard of Oz, it can be the characters from your old dark fairy tale stories like Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, etc. We can make this story more than just about Oz.


Need Beast, Little Red Riding Hood, Mad Hatter or Cheshire Cat or anyone from Alice in Wonderland to be Alice's partner in crime!

I almost forgot about the Wicked Witch of the West, but we may destroy her and the East too because the Wicked Witch of the East was such a damn barbie, and it just kills the darkness of the RP to be so goodie-gum drop good. So if you plan to make characters make sure their storylines are fucked up. For example:

Dorothy's father was an abusive alcoholic and her mother was on the drugs and was too depressed to do anything. Thus, Dorothy grew up the way she did and when one day an enchanted dark tornado comes ripping through Kansas to take her to the craziest world ever: Oz. Get my drift? Let me know all who is interested in this because I know I am, and regardless if I get people here or I have to go somewhere else, I will do this! Because I love the idea!

anyway, I’m not promising anything but I’m interested.  I was thinking of doing todo as a sort of reveres werewolf, instead of a human who takes on K9 aspects a K9 who takes on human aspects.

I can just see a seen ware the good witch shows up and is so annoyingly good that Dorothy gives todo a look and he grins and becoming more menacing he jumps her, tearing her apart and maybe rapping her while he’s at it.

If we get a Dorothy then the Todo player will have a partner in crime and we'll also have our main character in this. I personally was going to play The Big Bad wolf, but call him Big Bad, and if I have to play something else because his existence without a Red Riding Hood is too farfetched, then I can do that too trust me. But yeah, I'll post up the template and we can match people together and plot stuff before I write the OOC. I can write an OOC pretty quick (less than a day).

Personality: Big Bad wasn't always as bad as he is now. The wolf before his change was but a wild and starving creature, but no sympathy for a dire wolf, ya? He roams silently behind his master, protecting her wherever she goes until her desires give him a new and much darker face. Big enough for her to ride and with features as gentle as a fawn, the wolf's true nature is but obscured.

Background: What do you do when you exist for eternity? For the first few centuries you try to do good and help others with your abilities. Then you become a normal person, with a normal life and a family. Then everyone you know and love grow old and die around you, this drives you insane. Slowly you will begin to destroy the peoples lives around you until you are confronted with it, this will cause you to become angry and destructive until everyone who knew you as  normal person is gone. That's when you get bored.
The Cheshire cat found this boredom stage the worst. there was nothing to do with life when life its self meant nothing. That's when he met Alice. A young girl lost in his world. She was so alone, so scared, she didn't have a friend in this world. Oh how a being so insane must feel in their world.
He went to her, made her trust him, became her friend, before long he could make her do anything he wanted, and he did. He was even able to walk straight to her death at the hands of the Red Queen.
Cheshire did this again and again, lost person after lost person, enjoying their fear, reveling in the power he had over them. Soon the power he got from this lust opened new doors for him, he could now not only travel from place to place in his world, but he could travel to other worlds as well. He was now not just waiting for his prey, he was hunting it.   
Partner: No one unless an Alice joins, but nobody has to do that.

Well, here is a quick little take on a character I'd be interested in playing. Let me know if you want me to elaborate more.

Alias: The Little Match Girl aka Darla
Age:  17
Gender: Female
Height: 154 cm
Weight: 47 kg
Basic Appearance:

Personality: Shy and timid, Darla is afraid of conflict and would rather just have a comfortable life than anything so called exciting happening to her.
Likes: Silence, warmth and comfort.
Dislikes: Being cold, the rain, people shouting at her, her father's belt.
Psychological Disorder(s): Has trouble with hallucinations. While she doesn't like it Darla gravitates towards people who will hurt her because that's what she is used to.
Background: Darla's family is poor, dirt poor. Her mother is a cold woman who fully expects her children to do their share of work for the family while Darla's father is a violent drunk, expecting full obediance from everyone in his family and if he doesn't get it, he's not afraid of taking out his belt to punish the offender. Darla's education has been poor to say the least but she can read and write albeit not very advanced. When she was sixteen she dropped out of school to work for her family full time, having allready been doing that since she was thirteen in reality, mostly pushing drugs or letting men take pictures of her in different stages of undress aided by some substance or the other.
Partner: no one
Current Story: Darla has been sent out with a couple of bags of joints to sell and told to not come back if even one is left. The night is cold and with only a rather thin dress, a pair of old and chaffed boots and a cardigan to protect her, Darla is freezing.

Weaponry: A simple pocket switchblade in case someone tries ty mug her.

"You have acquired Glinda's wand." lol Yeah, if we don't get a Dorothy (the main character in this whole RP), then this RP may not happen. I don't see why Toto would kill Dorothy when she's his master. I'm sure their relationship will be much like Big Bad and Red Riding Hood. The only problem with this RP that I have currently is trying to come up with a story line. Of course I have the general plot presented, but I'm used to knowing the beginning and the end of my Rps and leading people through it so we aren't ever wondering what to do next. When I don't know that, I tend not to do them. I know that we'll be following through the story the same way Dorothy did in Oz, but I think we'll be traveling to different cities in Oz or areas of it to meet all the characters that have joined this RP, and maybe something could be going down in each city that we have to either assist in destroying or whatever the moment calls for.

Yeah, I need a Red Riding Hood since the one who chose to play her hasn't posted up a profile in God knows how long. Also, if you guys wish to share some ideas into how we can take this a bit further than just a pure Oz theme into something that can incorporate all fairy tale themes, then feel free to share some ideas. I also had the idea of having The Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland being evil. Just like in American McGee's Alice. Hell, we can follow American McGee's Alice, and have not only the Red Queen be the villain but make Oz like the second/ultimate boss. Then again, I'll be surprised if the RP gets that far since now a days people care for fucking than any logic, common sense, or story line to follow along side it.

Well, I may be going out on a limb here, but I think I know how we could kind of incorporate all fairy tales. There was this movie/TV special with Kimberly Williams called the 9th (or 10th, can't remember) Kingdom where a whole bunch of fairy tales were placed together. Snow White, Cinderella, Alice, etc. Something like that could be used and it would be a way to throw in every tale. Like I said, out on a limb, but it was just an idea. I don't know how it would fit into the plot though.

I can fill you guys in on a starter storyline to follow if you want. You don't have to follow it exactly but it was just a guide. Also, if the Cheshire Cat is still around or someone who sees this wishes to play him, I think the cat would make a good partner for Alice.

But here's an idea and the two players, playing Dorothy and Alice are free to comment.

Alice, Dorothy, and their companions meet each other when one is being chased by flying monkeys and the other, the Red Queen's evil card soldiers. The two dark heroines could then team up and fight off the monkeys and cards together. Short and sweet, yes? Once that altercation and meeting is settled, they can then set out on their next destination on the map.

actually in the original story Dorothy had more than just ruby slippers.  She also stole a magic hat that commanded the flying monkeys and one other thing too that I'm failing to remember.  Just a thought... flying monkeys could be damn wicked in some way... (though I think they will always make me laugh)

I'm sort of interested in this.  Like maybe playing the eldest of the 12 dancing princesses as a Madame (her sisters work for her)... these girls were wearing out their knees, not their shoes...

But I think I might instead go with something out of the Snow Queen, one of my all time favorites.  I think the one I would want to play is Kay.  Kay was the boy who accidently got a piece of the wicked mirror in his eye and was later stolen by the Snow Queen.  I think I would change the story such that at the end of her quest, Gerda's act of selfless love when she sang to him the hymn:

"The rose in the valley is blooming so sweet,
And angels descend there the children to greet."

Instead of inspiring tears, drove Kay to madness (because the glass in his eye had so warped his perceptions) such that he killed her with one of the shards of ice that was meant to spell the word that would grant him freedom.  Because her warmth had melted the ice around his heart the bloody act left him scarred and tortured by the horrors he always saw around him.  He could not even find beauty in the ice of the Snow Queen's palace and only the Snow Queen could again freeze his heart to where he would no longer be in such terrible distress.

Gerda's intrusion forced him to start again solving the puzzle the Snow Queen had set before him which he still struggles over to this day, though he sometimes forgets why he is trying.

So anyway, that's my idea... I figure I could play either Kay or the Snow Queen, or maybe both.

And what do they have to do with the Oz plot? How is that storyline in any relation as to why they would even be going against The Red Queen, Oz, and The Wicked Witch of the West? It sounded like you just presented a short story or solo one on one or something.

I'm sorry it was a character concept... I thought you were allowing characters from any of the fairy tales.  You have a Big bad wolf and a red riding hood and the little match girl.  Maybe I haven't fully figured out where the character fits in the grand plot yet but it was hardly fair to trounce on me for that.  The Snow Queen could easily be opposed to one of the queens and witches that you are placing everyone in opposition to.  She was always a figure of winter and not necessarily good or evil.  (She wasn't responsible for putting the mirror in Kay's eye, but she did kidnap him).  She might even be viewed as benevolent since she froze Kay's heart so that he would not suffer.

Forgive me for expressing an interest.  I'll leave this thread alone from here on out.  All I did was present a fairy tale character that was 'messed up' and I assumed (apparently wrongly) that people might consider discussing the idea within the context of everything else.

For any future ideas, if anyone ever reads this thread, be sure to read the character thread link and when you think of a character, try to think how he or she can be incorporated into the current plot. Saying a short story explanation doesn't really do that. It'll make integrating your characters into the story line a lot easier and also, your character if he or she has a partner, you can come up with as I said some situations with one of the enemies and say where they are in fairy tale land. You can make the location or region up so that so far I think Dorothy can find you since I'm not seeing Alice's player active.

Well, we have the main cast. This RP was always difficult to recruit for. I don't know why, but yes, so far we need a Beast for Belle, Little Red Riding Hood, and possibly a Cheshire Cat or Mad Hatter for Alice. Whoever wishes to play so. Other people can join on other characters but those are the ones I put out there in dire need. I think I have a Red Riding Hood, but I don't know of her whereabouts yet.

Luphawk and I have been in contact and have thrown together a backstory that intertwines. I have just been really busy to update my own. Real life has taken a toll on me as well with working and babysitting. Within the next couple days it will be updated since I will have nothing to do. Not next weekend (well, next weekend Saturday) but the weekend after that, I won't be on that much because my boyfriend is coming down from college and the fair is that weekend so I'll be busy with that and working.
