Deadline for Character Sheet Application is Sunday, The IC Thread Will Open on Monday!

This means that those who have shown interest so far are still welcome to make a character sheet and be accepted, but new people are no longer needed at this point. We are sorry, but thank you for your interest.

Hello lovely denizens of E. In collaboration with the lovely Andronica, we are seeking to revamp our Mass Effect one on one story of the same name in a small group form. Our main requirements for this RP are to find individuals who communicate well (bonus points if you're willing to use Skype), are committed to sticking with it and helping build the RP, and those willing to play more than just a main character. Who we decide to accept won't be based on a first come, first serve basis but on those we think best compliment our goals for the game and those willing to do more. That's not to say there won't be fun to be had of course, but we definitely prioritize building the characters and story.

Things To Be Aware Of

This game will be placed in the Non-Con Exotic section, more so just in case of something non-consensual occurring than anything else. As far as kinks go, only the extreme ones (scat, golden showers, etc.) aren't allowed. Futa characters will be involved in the plot for those concerned about such things. We are looking for Male, Female, or Futa characters. Non-humans are especially needed and desired.

Mass Effect: Terminus

Setting

This story is set somewhere in the range of 10-20 years after the Reaper War and the end of ME3 and will take place primarily in the lawless and fractured Terminus Systems. Following the war, many of the largest merc and pirate orginizations crumbled, and others took their places. One of the few holdovers was Aria T'Loak who remained the unquestioned ruler of Omega. The mood of this story is intended to be quite wild west-ian.

The Story So Far
Dezthia Essex (played by Andronica), former member of Cerberus, has risen in the ranks of Aria T'Loak's orginization on Omega to become her right hand and most trusted employee. Both bodyguard and confidant. However, Aria's number two man, Sarek Rael (possibly played by Odanrav, or an open NPC) wasn't content with being third in line for the throne. Via back room dealings, Rael bought the majority of Aria's men and had her gunned down right in the middle of the Afterlife Lounge. Dezthia escaped, but not without a busted jaw and an enormous bounty on her head.

Trapped on the station and without friends, Dezthia contacted her mercenary brother for the first time in years and asked him for help. Luckily, Wayne (played by Odanrav) was already on Omega station, drinking and whoring away all his credits from his last contract. The two of them met back up together and fled on Wayne's ship, the Vandal EVR.

After some deliberation, the two agreed to work together to take down Sarek (for differing reasons). However, they needed money and they needed a crew. Dezthia contacted an old friend of Aria's, the famed Ardat-Kresh Vara Vos (an Asari futa character played by Odanrav) and coaxed her into investing into this budding new mercenary orginization. Meanwhile, Wayne contacted an information broker named Wraith (played by Andronica) to procure a list of some of the most deadly sons-a-bitches in the Terminus systems without ties to Sarek or other rival groups. And now Essex Enterprises is looking to build from the ground up.

What We Need

We are in search of players who can play the roles of elite mercenaries/freelancers without allegiances (supposedly) to other organizations in order to begin building "Essex Enterprises (EE)," a budding new mercenary group in the Terminus Systems. Alternatively, we are also looking for people to play non-combat roles as well including a pilot, medic, enemies, etc. As of right now, we have two Humans and three Asari (One a secret) of the futa variety lined up for sure. Meaning that we'd, ideally, like characters of other races and archetypes to join up to compliment us well.

Wayne Essex (Odanrav): The pseudo captian and leader of the merc group (mostly because it's his ship they're all on). Human, Infiltrator, and AI/Robotics expert.

Dezthia Essex (Andronica): Cerberus experiment and bodyguard to the late Aria T'Loak. Wayne's little sister. Human, Vanguard, and general badass killer.

Vara Vos (Odanrav): Dubbed the "800 year old sex goddess". Patron to various organizations, legal or otherwise. Asari, Ardat-Kresh (futa), primary investor of EE.

Wraith (Andronica): Information broker in an on again/off again relationship with Wayne. Asari, Neutral Allegiances, Hacking Specialist.

Character Sheet Example

Wayne Essex
Name: Wayne Essex
Aliases: None
Sex: Male
Race: Human
Age: 38

Class: Infiltrator
Talents & Specializations: AI's and Robotics, Tinkering, Infiltration, rudimentary Hacking abilities.
Professions: Alliance N7 Training, Field Command experience, former Cerberus Operative, a decade of Mercenary experience in the Traverse, Alliance space, and the Terminus Systems.

Personality: Wayne is a blunt man who lacks a filter between his brain and his mouth. The type of individual who decides what he wants and he goes after it tenaciously. For this he has few friends and many enemies. He is the type of person who often pushes people away, even those he loves, and yet he can be the most loyal ally a person can find if they're capable of cracking his outer armor. He possesses a wry sense of humor and a pessimistic view of life and the galaxy as a whole, often finding levity in it's many bleak ironies.

History: Wayne's life truly began the moment his mother died when he was only 16. Dezthia (his younger half-sister), their mother, and himself lived on the isolated colony of Rimtown on the border of the as-of-yet expansion of human colinization efforts and Batarian territory. Wayne's own father abandoned him and his mother after he was born. He knows extremely little about him, only that his mother and father were both a part of the first wave of colonists to help build the site. Wayne's mother never told him anything more about it, despite his constant pestering her. This caused Wayne to develop a great sense of resentment for her.

When his mother married another colonist when he was just 8, his anger grew even more for her and her new husband. They had a girl together, his sister Dezthia, who he despised at first, but eventually grew very close to. It wasn't enough, however, to keep him from signing up with the Alliance the moment he reached the legal age for colony kids. Wayne was never truly indebted to the tenets of the Alliance, but he did see it as a chance to get out of Rimtown, and to get away from his family. Fate wasn't kind to him though when the news came months later that Rimtown had been hit by a Batarian raid. The news was reporting that the vast majority of the colony had been taken as slaves, but his heart sunk deeper into his chest when he heard that his mother was one of those who resisted and was killed for it, alongside his step-father. Wayne rushed home, going awol on his boot training to find the colony a ghost town, in the desperate hope of finding his younger sister but failing her. It wouldn't be the last time he would fail Dezthia.

Life went on and Wayne channeled his rage into his training, quickly becoming one of the brightest young soldiers in the Alliance and earning a place in the prestigious N7 program. After earning his N7 designation, his first assignment was to acompany a squad of soldiers on a smash and grab to apprehend a known Batarian terrorist operating out of a moon base in  the Hourglass Nebula. What the team discovered was that the terrorist was working with high ranking officials from the Batarian hegemony. The mission was called off in the fear that taking into custody a high ranking political figure could spark a war with the Batarians, but Wayne had other plans. In direct opposition to his order, Wayne ordered his men to storm the base. A blood bath ensued as the Batarians had better fortifications than intel had originally suggested. Wayne lost half his men, but none of the Batarians survived. In order to avoid a greater conflict, the Alliance branded Wayne a war criminal and court marshalled him.

He was in custody for nearly a year before a mysterious woman paid him a visit. Young, beautiful, and black haired. It took him quite a while to put the pieces together but eventually realized that it was his thought-dead or enslaved sister, Dezthia. A short, awkward conversation followed the deft slipping of a device and Wayne had the means to break out. The night that both of them comandeered a ship and got out of Alliance space as quickly as they could.

It was only a matter of weeks before a recruiter from the shady Cerberus orginization came knocking, hoping to get Wayne to join their ranks. He agreed, but only on the condition that his sister come as well. They spent years in Cerberus, each joining disparate cells with differing purposes. Wayne became one of their top operatives and was even considered as an alternative option to Commander Shepard should the Lazerus Project not succeed. Not long after the Reaper War began, however, Wayne began to become increasingly more uncomfortable working for the group. After his infiltration abilities allowed him to discover that the Illusive Man was using indoctrination on refugees, he quickly got an message off to his sister (in an encrypted code only the two of them used) warning her to leave and got out himself.

For most of the war Wayne sat on the sidelines, hiding out in the Terminus Systems. Thankfully Cerberus was too preoccupied at the time to come after him. It wasn't until after the war that he met back up with his sister... though the meeting didn't go particularly well. Shots were fired, though afterwards Wayne soon forgot what it was over. The half siblings parted ways and didn't see each other again for many years. Wayne plied his training as a freelance mercenary, even getting a fancy Turian ship on a bet with a rival, while Dezthia went to Omega and got cozy with Ms. T'Loak herself, if the stories were true.

Appearance & Equipment: Wayne isn't nearly as old as he appears. Years of fighting and hard living have left an impression on his once very handsome figure. His body is marred by scarring including bullet wounds, stabs, spots where bones didn't heal back perfectly from breaks. A spattering of grey hair can be seen in his lazily kempt beard and on the temples of his thick head of hair, slicked back and almost falling to his shoulders. He has faded blue eyes and a very pale skin tone. All of these features, however, are often hidden underneath his iconic yellow armor from head to toes. He carries with him the latest model Logi-Con Omni-Tool, a compartment along his belt where he keeps some tools to take with him in the field, the latest Phantom model cloaking devise, and a kinetic shield generator. He prefers using heavy pistols and shotguns and to be up and personal with his marks rather than hiding in the shadows and picking them off like most infiltrators would.

Misc. Notes: Wayne, for some reason, is very atracted to the Asari. Almost to the point of fetishizing them.

So  . . . How about a quarian lass who is more interested in putting people back together, rather than putting old tech back together? I have IDEAS.

Err . . aka I wanna make a Quarian Medic.

Odanrav

I like that idea a lot Latooni, sounds like a really interesting take on a Quarian character (coming from someone who is actively anti-Tali =P). I'd love to see more. :)

Odanrav

Welcome Lindrea and Cuch, looking forward to see what you can come up with. :)

Landshark

ME is a favorite of mine. Couple of questions...
1. What time period is this in?
2. Due to futa heavy personel, is this a mostly sex driven story?

Odanrav

1. About a decade or so after the events of ME3.
Spoilers for ME3
We treat the universe under the "Destroy" ending where the Reapers were destroyed completely and the galaxy was slowly rebuilt, only now coming back into full functioning, though the lawless Terminus systems are still quite dysfunctional. Also AI's are even more stringently prohibited than before.

2. Not at all. I usually try to have a more mature take on Futa, and have a lore reason for them to exist. The story and character interaction are our primary focus. The sex should compliment the story and not the other way around.

Landshark

I played a Silarian in a table top game who was an outcast. Specialised in infiltration/stealth. He was an outcast because he wasn't born on a home world and didn't get to be attuned to the matron of the family. Birth bonded to a human nurse in the ship he was born on so wasn't "trusted" in traditional Salarian society.

Odanrav

Interesting idea Landshark. It's a bit rare to find people willing to play a Salarian character in an adult RP environment, so it'd be something new for sure. I'd love to see a character sheet and learn some more. :)

Landshark

Well im not really interested in the sexual end of it so a Salarian makes good sense. They dont have day to day attraction to the opposite sex. Its a mating season like thing for them and relationships are basically business contracts. Whatever partner makes the best sense at the appropriate time. Mine will be a bit more confused as he was raised by a human in a mostly human environment so he acts more human but still doesnt act on his banter. Basically he will flirt but its just flirting. If things were to progress he'd just be like "Oh...ummm..heh..no thanks...thank you though. Very kind and WOW if I were to, youd be at the top of my list."
Will the infiltrator idea conflict with your Lead PC? If so i got an idea for a Batarian and a Vorcha as well. Both would be pretty straight forward Mercs.

Odanrav

That's what I meant, it's unusual to see someone play a character from a race that lacks any real sexual drive on an Adult RP forum. But the interaction you describe could be very entertaining to watch, so much meta going on lol.

A couple people have shown interest in being an infiltrator-like character that I'm considering making Wayne a more soldier-esque type of character with some tinkering and AI knowledge. Though it's a bit arbitrary to say we can only have one infiltrator like character. Though obviously I think all characters should have their strengths and weaknesses.

Landshark

The original character was inspired by Parker from the tv show Leverage. If you've seen it then thats all ya really need to know :P
So yeah ill start working a CS.

Landshark

additionally if youd like, and no one else has expressed interest, i could make him a pilot?

Andronica

Sure, go ahead and make him a pilot, Landshark! :)

We may have the medic and engineer roles tentatively filled so as Odan said, it would be silly to say we can only have one of each class and such. If we really need particular roles filled by the time the RP starts and we've established some relationships and connections among the cast, then Odan and I can make NPCs for that purpose. Play what you want so long as it suits the story! Having a couple soldiers and infiltrators and only one medic (etc) certainly won't put the group game at a disadvantage.

Latooni Subota

Here's draft one! Hope she's not too weird . . . she won't be all science-sociopathic-y to the allies! Hahaha . . ha . . I was trying to come up with a reason why such a talented medic wouldn't have been snatched up by another group yet, and that's where my crazy brain landed.

Last name pending confirmation of the ship's name.

Name: Shar'mal vas Vandal
Aliases: Shar, Sherry, that crazy bint with a scalpel
Sex: Female
Race: Quarian
Age: 20

Class: Sentinel (Medic)
Talents & Specializations: Basic Biotics (Throw, Lift, Warp), Tech Armor, Advanced Medical Skills, Minor Weapon Modification (Cryo Ammo, Toxic Ammo), Mechanical Expertise (What Quarian doesn't know how to repair and maintain everything from an envirosuit to a ship drive?)
Professions: Surgeon, Xenobiologist

Personality: Shar is a . . . unique individual. She is an endlessly cheery Quarian female, always ready with a kind word and a terrible joke. She's a lot more touchy feely than most Quarians, giving big hugs with her petite body and smacking someone upside the head when necessary. Some might call her naive for easily making friends and being loyal with little to no evidence that her friends are trustworthy. Shar simply believes that it's best to give people the benefit of the doubt, and when they betray her, she can strap them to an operating table and start some good old fashioned exploratory surgery!

History: Shar'mal (formerly vas Faal) was considered a child prodigy growing up in the middle of the reaper war. While Collectors were kidnapping humans to make a new reaper, she was studying Dextro-biology. While the reapers were slaughtering people left and right, she had already moved on to dextro-biology. Many of the Quarians left behind by Rannoch during the final battle considered her to be one of the fresh new hopes of the race, and with the destruction of the greatest threat to the galaxy, she was given peace to study and learn all manner of skills. One additional sign of just how bright her star was, was the fact that she became one of the truly rare Quarian biotics due to her mother getting into an accident while pregnant due to rogue Geth damage to her ship. This made Shar one of six living Quarian biotics galaxy-wide, after the reapers were gone, though by her own admission certainly not the strongest.

Shar'mal was grew up surrounded by friends and allies that told her she was amazing, and left with armfuls of gifts to take on her Pilgrimage several years after the Reaper War. Imagine her surprise when people found an overly cheerful and confident Quarian annoying while they were rebuilding their societies. She in fact found herself on the wrong end of a gun or a knife more than once, leaving her absolutely confused and heartbroken. Nobody seemed to realize how amazing she was, and how she wanted to help them all on her Pilgrimage. Shar'mal decided there and then to do her best to understand more about the races of the galaxy. Her need to defend herself from rabid Vorcha and angry Turian Blue Suns gave herself an unusual option though: Surgery. Those that figured a lonely quarian girl would be an easy mark soon found themselves dead and in pieces, as Shar'mal decided that the best way to improve her medical expertise was to practice on filthy criminal scum.

This . . actually worked. For the most part people didn't care that thugs and brutes in their areas went missing thanks to Shar'mal's somewhat sociopathic medical adventures. Unfortunately for her this ended when she took out a Turian criminal with strong Hegemony ties, and found herself declared a criminal for simply defending herself! . . and taking the Turian apart to study how his biotic bits worked. With a few friends this corruption was found and rooted out, but the propoganda had spread a bit too quick, and she found herself . . not exactly welcomed back home by the Migrant Fleet due to actions. Upon seeing her allies back home look at her with disgust and mistrust she cried her eyes out . . . and promptly turned right back around and went on MORE wild adventures with her friends across the galaxy. The wild doctor's ephemeral personality kept her from hurting for too long, especially when she realized she could do even MORE cool things out with the other races. Screw MAYBE one day captain-ing her own ship in the fleet, or trying to clean up Rannoch, she could go shoot mercs and save Asari maidens!

Appearance & Equipment: Shar'mal isn't particularly different from other Quarian girls. She IS a bit short, even for Quarians, standing at 5'0" and her curves are slight and soft. Not that anyone tends to see it, but she keeps her hair cropped comfortable short in her helmet. Really, all the important details are in her custom envirosuit. She keeps herself (at least partially) in the universal medic colors, the bast of her suit a bright white color with red bands around ehr midsection and torso to highlight her modest bust. Black bands run up and down her legs and arms to keep it from getting boring, and she has a fairly traditional white cowl with intricate little markings. Her faceplate is a soft peach color, which may or may not be explicitly to make her look less threatening. Or just cute! Nobody is really sure . . . She never really looked into heavier equipment, picking up a pair of small arms. One is a Scorpion Heavy Pistol (Modded with Ultralight Materials) for big and scary situations, and the other is a M-4 Shuriken submachinegun, modded with an SMG Recoil System. She doesn't carry grenades, instead bringing extra medigel, and her omni-tool is customized to have a range of ultra-fine surgical grade fabricated tools . . and one nice stabbing knife.

Misc. Notes: The abnormally cheerful quarian really, REALLY doesn't like vorcha. Nasty, filthy, disease-ridden jerks.

If I'm needed to post somewhere, PLEASE PM me about it. Sometimes I lose track of threads and need to be reminded about things.

CuriousEyes

Well, I'd mentioned to Andronica in PM that I might be interested in offering you guys a pilot, although I'll happily defer if someone else particularly wants the job. Tentatively I'd imagined a Human with a roundabout history - trained as a ship's pilot and served in the Systems Alliance, but defected to a brief flirtation with Cerberus but managed to dodge the whole Reaper-petri-dish incident. In the years since the end of ME3 he'd have just been bumping around doing odd merc work. He might leap at the opportunity to join this new group as a means to get away from some outstanding & unfriendly creditors.

I had considered a secret addiction for him - possibly Hallex for recreation, and Videlicet for work.

If you do decide you want me to flesh out the concept some more let me know and I'd be happy to. Either way I'd also be happy to volunteer myself if you ever need anyone for one-offs like a rival merc who just needs to get shot.

Rajah

I'm considering putting together a turian sentinel for this. Sketch is a former soldier struggling with survivor's guilt; he was tasked as security on a research lab that fell to indoctrination, himself included, and spent most of the war as a semi-conscious sleeper agent. Came out after the Crucible activation with a fascination with self-modification and a probably unhealthy gift for following orders. He keeps a civilian drone that he's modified to communicate absent its factory-standard subservience, and sometimes uses it like an echo chamber to re-assert his own thoughts, which he finds vaguely comforting for obvious reasons he nevertheless tries not to think about too much. He could double as yeoman. Prefers to mix tech-augmented heavy armor and close-quarters combat tactics alongside use of short-range biotics in the form of destructive auras, eaves, and domination; his technical knowledge is primarily specialized to military equipment and augmentation, but he knows enough for maintenance work and to act as an effective assistant.

Are the Geth totally dead?
"They say even the proudest spirits can be broken...with love."

-The Beldame (CORALINE by Neil Gaiman)

Landshark

They are using the destruction path as the end of ME3 so all synthetics/AI's were wiped out.

Andronica

Hey Curious! Fee free to expand on your character here. I'm excited to read about him. I certainly wouldn't mind having two pilots since they could have other roles and tasks on the ship as well.

Lationi - Shar'mal is accepted! :)

Since the medic role is taken I may reprise the role of my OC Dr. Trezel as a researcher or to fulfill whatever we may need later on.

Landshark

My guy could easily be concideted a backup pilot as he flies like a teenager drives a muscle car. Emergencies only :p

Also sorry for the delay on getting CS in. Best friend had a baby last night so been at the hospital a dozen different times.

Odanrav

Landshark - No worries and congratulations on the best friend's little pyjak.

Latooni - The name of Wayne's ship is called the Vandal and is pictured in the OP.

Rajah - As Landshark mentioned, all AI's were wiped out as of the end of the Reaper War in this universe, including the Geth. Others could have been developed since that time though. Your Turian character sounds intriguing, but bear in mind things do seem to be getting tight. We don't want to go over a max of three more people. As of yet we have:

Accepted
Odanrav (Wayne, Vara, Others)
Andronica (Dezthia, Wraith, Trezel, Others)
Latooni (Shar'mal, ?)

Pending
Landshark (Salarian Infiltrator)
Lindrea (?)
Curious (Human Pilot)
Cuch (Human Adept/Agent)
Rajah (Turian Sentinal)

I'll reiterate that it's not a first come, first serve basis, but we will certainly take initiative into account.

Additionaly, an OOC Chat thread is now linked in the opening post and here.
