Today's word of the day is....

roué
noun roo-AY

Definition
1 : a man devoted to a life of sensual pleasure : rake

Please please please. Me next. Please, he thinks to himself, seemingly pleading to a higher power, as he closes his eyes and tries not to look at the many temptations the room.

His “little” problem had ruined everything— from his ability to get work done to his hesitance to go out with friends. It had to stop— it all had to stop. He couldn't live with the temptation anymore, the downright craving. For as long as he could remember, he’d had this unavoidable, sexual miscreant inside of him. It was the little demon on his shoulder— that little instigator who persuaded him to feed the demon he so desperately wanted to be rid of. He needed a cure, he thought as he tapped his foot and tried to block out the world around him. Why can’t I just be normal? He wonders to himself as he thinks back on his lengthy past of sexual carelessness, his mind resting on the short time he’d spent in Italy where he had truly embodied what it meant to be a roué.

Skin,  skin, and more skin, he thought as his mind scrambled, sifting through all of the explicit scenes and images that came to mind when he thought of his "undoing."

Groaning, he runs his large hands over his face trying to pull himself together.

This is why I'm here, he thought, his mental toughness being tested as he tried to persuade himself to stay seated instead of bolting out to his car and driving home.

Luckily, before he has the chance to leave, the door to the back offices opens and a round-faced, older woman emerges, her eyes scanning the chairs out in the lobby. “Sam Baker?,” she calls out, her voice sweet and delicate like that of a mother’s.

“Thank god,” he mumbles to himself as he immediately grabs his things and begins to rush his way to the back, his mind finally beginning to understand the reality of his situation.

It had been years— years since he started suffering because of this problem. This itch. Yes, an itch because that's precisely what it was—  some insatiable hunger inside of him that he couldn't get rid of. Not on his own. He needed help. However, now that he thought about it, it was probably stupid of him to have chosen a woman as his therapist. Granted, if he had a choice, he would've found some portly, gray-haired man to help him, but this woman happened to be the only doctor within a 50 mile radius of him who was trained to work with… with people like him.

Behave...for once, Sam, he tells himself as he and the receptionist weave their way through the dim halls of the office.

"Come this way, sweetheart," the receptionist says to him sweetly, her voice breaking his train of thought before he nods and obediently follows her to his, hopefully, new doctor's office.

“Don’t be nervous, darling. She’s an exceptional woman,” the receptionist says with a bright smile, her thick, stubby hands reaching into the plastic pocket that hung on the wall just outside his doctor’s office to take the previous patient's file.

The receptionist knocks and informs the doctor that her patient has arrived before smiling up at Sam and ushering him through the door, causing the tall, broad-shouldered male to stumble into the office a little, his form filling up the doorway as he takes a deep breath and tries to find the courage to look up from the ground. Pushing away his reservations, he walks in and shuts the door.

Please be ugly, he thinks to himself as his mind starts to run rampant, the sexual deviant inside of him creating every inappropriate scenario imaginable between him and the doctor he’d yet to look up at.

Eventually, he forces himself to look up and, to both his dismay and pleasure, he is met with the pale blue eyes of a curvaceous and alluring woman sat behind a cherry-stained desk. Frozen— he was completely frozen— his gaze fixated on the woman as he watches her stand and saunter over toward him, her boundless legs carrying her gracefully, steadily closing the gap between them.

And there he was, the master of charm, at a loss for words, his mouth held slightly agape as he watched his own conceptions of perfection come to life.

Game. Over. There was no way he was winning the fight against this one.

She peeked out of the jalousie, her fingers deftly holding onto two slats as she stared out at the driveway. He wasn’t there and she breathed a sigh of relief at that. No one had believed her, none of the neighbours around the cul-de-sac had given her words much importance. They had even called her mad for thinking so. “There are no ghosts here my dear, go home…you need rest” had become a mantra for most but Sarah knew, she wasn’t the sort to lollygag around her home for things that weren’t true. This was true, it had to be. She had seen him. Not once, not twice but twelve times and each time the wispy figure had stood at the exact same spot – watching her for a good five minutes before he would disappear again, only to return the following day.

That particular day Jenny’s head had been bombinating with hatred over what Sarah had so blatantly accused her of. She had been the best member on the team and Jenny knew that had warranted others to feel a sense of competition. Still, keeping her composure she wouldn’t let anyone faze her. She got up from the bench then and drew in a long breath as she looked around the expanse, waiting for the coach that would take her to practice.

The gigantic mollusk that trailed up the beach from the sea was a harbinger of things to come. Not only had the titanic snail grown to be the height of twice that of a human, but he had been gifted with the ability to shoot a force jet of water out of his eyes. We should have immediately stopped dumping radiation waste into the ocean, but because the snail was friendly, the matter was pushed aside. And then the four-legged sharks came.

The glassworker annealed the unique vase he had been tirelessly working on for months. It had been a gift he had decided upon for his son’s twelfth birthday. The man was well known among the townsfolk and even more around the bustling marketplace where hordes of visitors had come to purchase his pieces. His business had been going well and he was pleased with his family life as well. Nothing could go wrong for mister Kezlo. Well, at least he had hoped so. Of course, his mind had still worried over his son Moze’s prophecy. The witch by the seaside had warned him once of the boy being a harbinger of chaos and death. That try as much as he could, he would never be able to stop what is foretold.

Kezlo had ignored the woman and vowed that he would see to it that Moze doesn’t venture on that path. He had ever since the learning of the prophecy been shaping unique glass vases that would hold Moze’s powers in check when the time came. The conical twirl had been hard to bend and shape but had worked out in the end. “Happy birthday my son” he whispered as he put in the finishing touches on the ends.

She was a scurrilous lady and the true extent of her unwashed mouth was let loose as the idiotic troglodyte smashed into her basket and caused her much pain at the supermarket.
