I don't know why I didn't think to mention this earlier, given that I've a Wasp in my chapeau about trying this myself, but if we're hoping for something even simpler and lighter for this, why not try the LARP rules?

I've been looking at this, and its interesting, and great for LARP's but the one problem I have is that you aren't allowed to use all your stats etc etc.

However, it has given me a brilliant idea. Especially as I don't really want to be waiting around for people to be making rolls, as it tends to slow the game down a bit. Instead of rolling risk you sacrifice two style to declare if something is successful or fails, and then an extra one for each fact you want. Every 3 dice you would receive towards to roll contributes 1 free style. Do you think this could work; any major flaws in my plan you can see? Assuming a liberal dishing out of style from the GM. Contested rolls are won by the person willing to sacrifice the most style.

That's kind of the whole point.  It streamlines and simplifies matters...and since you can change which Advantages you bring to the, er, table between adventures, it's not as limiting as it seems.

As for your other idea...methinks it'd be best to stick with the LARP rules, which have at least been playtested under fire.  :-)

Meh I'm not a fan of them, great for a short game, but an adventure in forum could last weeks IRL so I think it will be too restrictive. I'll probably just stick to the proper rules.

Currently looking over them. I think, as time progresses, my character will eventually learn spells, rather than starting off with them.

So if you want to have such a link, it's open.  Purely optional...but this is how Athos and I ended up with a connection without having to designate each other a Contact!   :-)  (This is also why I haven't gone through the trouble of defining my three younger siblings or rounding out my parents' family trees yet.  Somebody might want to add something.)

Anybody got a Fox-y Wife they haven't defined?  My elder sister's single, and somehow it seems appropriate for her to follow Father's footsteps.  If not, I can just add this to my character sheet later...

Posted the combat rules. It looks a little wow at first glance if you open all the advance maneuvers. But just read the combat steps, the two basic maneuvers and then try to get your head around the deeper complexities. It'll all seem simpler once you've read it a few times. If there are any questions, just post them here and I'll edit it so it is more obvious the meaning of that piece.

It helps that you only start with one maneuver (Injure, rank one) unless you've spent freebie points on extras, so you don't really have to worry about it too much.

Yep that is what I would advise aswell, keep it simple to start. And just because you have one maneuver doesn't mean you can't be inventive with it thanks to step 3.
