Shamanic and wizardic support are both desired...
Send me stat backgrounds and I have a fixer lined to get some heavy  armament.

I don't want to force tie this to the RPG, since this is more of a concept RP.
I know Ghouls became a bit less 'mindless ravening beasts'  than in early Eds.  Can your Ghoul be social and not pose a danger to a team?

As far as ghouls go, it's become less a case of ' all ghouls are mindless, ravening beasts' and more that only some of them fall down that low, while the rest are merely people who have been forced by a disease to have to resort to cannibalism to survive.  The virus tends to mutate a bit inside the systems of those it infects, though, so some people can be carriers without exhibiting any symptoms, and some are completely non-contagious...

So yeah, a more social ghoul who doesn't pose a danger to a runner team is easily possible.

Of course, I wasn't actually planning on playing one, just joking around a bit at the restriction... ^^;

OK, clarification... I was not intending to run a book rules based game, this is a fantasy RP.  As long as we all stay reasonably consistent to the SR world view, we should be able to explore, add to the story, and develop our characters for fun.  I will put down this.  No killing or seriously harming a PC unless you have his/her permission via PM first.  Angst and argument and fighting and threatening are OK if the scene calls for it.  Anybody have comments?

That works, I would just like to know in what city, world or such this is set, and any other guidelines.

Even if it's not based on the book rules, the setting does advance between the different editions. ^^; 4th edition in particular introduced some pretty notable changes to the setting, like the Matrix 2.0.  Basically, questions about editions are really questions about the time period.  Will this game be set in the 2070s (4th) or some time earlier than that?

Too much earlier and I'd be switching from Technomancer to Otaku...

Also, I don't think killing or seriously harming one another should be too much of a problem.  Even runners need to be able to trust at least a few people to watch their back.

Have not played 4th, but read about the differences.   As a Decker.  I am interested in the new Matrix.  I think for this RP, just build your char balanced with weaknesses and strengths.  We aren't tracking actual stats here, so it's more of a descriptive (e.g. Establishing mage specialing in ___ spell areas.  Considered in top 10% of those for hire)
makes a viable setup for informal RP combat.  There is no GM here.  Just a base and our own storytelling and relational abilities to give to our charaters and each other.

I'm thinking Kyoto, where a new Megacorp has sprung up...almost overnight...Year about 2077.  This is the advanced medical research.  Front and back room.

Any details on this? There's not much to go on about kyoto, how's organized crime there and such?

Hmm.  I've got a past in mind, someone who ran away from her corporate enclave when she emerged as a Technomancer shortly after the Hong Kong Incident, and who's learned to control her abilities since then and started making a living off of them...

There are still plenty of details that need to be worked out, though.  And she might not really be a good fit for a place like Kyoto. >>;

Then, Thursday, we can start the RP.

I don't think I'll be able to do much until I learn more about Kyoto. ^^; At least, not with this technomancer character.

I do have a backup character idea that could be put just about anywhere, but said character is a free spirit...
