Recruitment

"Welcome to the 51st Hunger Games!  This is a truly an exciting time for Panem, that special time of year where preparations for the game begins, and you viewers count down to the day when the Tributes are presented for your entertainment.  Citizens remember to prepare your children for the Reaping, where they might just get the chance to become a Tribute, and if they're lucky, a Champion."

-Special Broadcast by President Coriolanus Snow

For those of you familiar with The Hunger Games trilogy, and even for those who aren't, this game revolves around the concept of a broadcasted death tournament.  Where 24 teenagers ages 16-18, one boy and one girl from each district, are chosen by lottery to become Tributes, fighters in the arena, desperately trying to kill each other, so that they might come out as the last person alive, the champion.

This game is firmly in the Extreme section, and character death is not only accepted, but likely to happen to every Tribute character, bar the winner.  This game also has an easy battle system to it, so easy that you don't need any experience with any other system to play.  Info on the system can be found HERE, and I urge any perspective player to peruse the wiki page for more information on the games setting.

Very interesting concept.  Are you planning to play through the whole selection/prelude stuff, or start right with the games?

undisclosedtoyou

The game will begin with the parade, and continue from there.  This is just to give the tribute characters time to meet each other, and interact, form alliances, before they're thrust into action.

boom!

*Snugs the Aly!*

Oooohhhhh, I can't believe that this game is finally up for recruitment, After all this planning, it's a little scary :P

Also, what do you think, should I fix up this thread, make the game sound more exciting?

That sounds intriguing. I have never heard of those books or games though and I feel a little unsettled. But I'm definitely going to keep an eye on it.

Is there much cruelty involved in that game? And what about bondage?

The thread looks great! I'll have a character hopefully done by later today. :D

It is considered EX most likely due to the brutal deaths each player's character can face in the game.

undisclosedtoyou

Let's see, I'd say yes, but that depends on your view of cruelty.  The books, involve 12-18(changed to 16-18 to follow E's guidelines) year old's to fight each other to the death, killing each other with weapons, all for sport and the entertainment of a nation.  So if you find that cruel, than yes.  As for bondage, I don't really see it happening, this game is battle based, there wouldn't really be opportunities to indulge in sexual bondage.  Maybe a character might bind another character, so they can't escape, but that would be the extent of that.

If you're not familiar with the books though, that's fine, I can PM you with info on where you can get a PDF version of it.

Thank you!  I didn't want to throw out too much info in this thread and overwhelm anyone, especially since all that info is located via the links.

And you're spot on about why this game is in EX.  *Smiles&Hugs*

Sooo... I couldn't sleep.  ::)

Adelaide, District 10
Name: Adelaide Juniper Colton

Division:District 10

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Height: 5’0”

Weight: 125 lbs

Eyes: Light Blue

Hair: Pale Blond

Skin tone: Lightly tan

Distinguishing Marks: Has a small burn on the inside of her left arm from a branding accident. A scar on the left side of her body from a runaway steer, it goes from her hip to right under Adelaide’s breast.

Physical Description: Even though she is short, Adelaide knows how to make herself notice. Windblown blond hair hangs loosely when not thrown into a simple ponytail, the length barely reaching her shoulder blades as anything longer would get in the way. Adelaide's skin is lightly tan from hours spending outside with the animals, fingernails chipped and uneven due to years of hard work. Her eyes are what her mother calls sky blue, and one of her most attractive features.

Likes: Adelaide enjoys the smell of the outdoors, the feel of rough leather against her skin. She will spend hours practicing with an aged whip that was given to her by her Grandfather. Along with being proficient with a whip, she is also handy with a lasso. Able to rope just about anything within her eye sight. Most of all Adelaide loves singing sometimes found singing to the new born animals when out in the pastures.

Dislikes: A strong hate for anyone that shows laziness. Disapproves of ones that are arrogant or takes advantage of the weak. Those that use manipulation in their favor and fakes kindness.

Fears: Enclosed spaces, when she was five she was accidentally trapped in the meat locker. Ever since Adelaide tries to avoid any sort of small place if trapped she will start to have a small panic attack. Most of all Adelaide fears Trackerjackers. A while back a group of farm hands and cattle got into a nest of them near the property line. She knows firsthand what horrible things they are capable of and how horrifying the results are.

Personality: Has a free of spirit that is allowed, Adelaide is polite and well spoken due to dealing with business transactions on her family’s farm. A huge animal lover she will often take care of the runt of any litter. Many say she is a natural with animals, able to calm down the wildest of beasts.

History: Growing up in District 10 on a modest farm, she was always around animals and nature. When Adelaide was four she faintly remembers watching her oldest brother compete in the Hunger Games, sadly he was killed the seventh night when his ally turned on him. Since then she secretly hated the games for taking away her brother. Always wishing that one year The Capitol could quit and no one else would have to lose a loved one.

Living on the farm was good for her, at times feeling as if The Capitol couldn’t reach them on their tiny plot of land. While working among the animals Adelaide uses a whip to help guide the herds. Never hurting them she simply grazed the cow’s side to make sure they went the right way. Even when not working she would still practice with whip, not wanting to get rusty and hurt an animal. Most of the time though she can be found simply sitting on the fence singing, enjoying the fresh air that District 10 had to offer when the factories weren’t in full effect.

Once Adelaide reached the age of sixteen she was fearful of becoming a tribute once the Hunger Games rolled around. The first year she was lucky and though she felt sorrow for those chosen, she cried into her pillow that night in relief at not being the one to leave. Still the threat loomed over her head and the following year, now the age of 17 she stood there with several other girls in the straight lines and sorted by age.

Dressed in the cleanest and best dress she owned, hair gently pulled back into a bun. Adelaide could feel her heart skip a beat as her name was announced over the sound system, the District Representative simply smiling as if they won a large reward. Eyes wide with disbelief she was escorted up to the stage, even now she barely remembers the day, everything happening in a blur. The thought of having to fight against a fellow member of the District and countless others dulled her senses. Mainly in shock she didn't talk or speak to anyone except her family when they came to see her off. Adelaide can't even recall the trip to The Capitol, everything just blurring together in the end.

I've read a bit of the original book and have a better feel about what this game is all about. Very interesting, and even more if some adult content is going to be mixed into the pot.

I'd like to apply for a tribute girl. I'm going to think of a character.

undisclosedtoyou

Aly she's wonderful!  I'll give you some time to add or subtract anything you like.  When you feel as if you're completely done, just PM me the code(wrapped in the code tag), and I'll add it to our character thread.  Good job Sweets!

I'm happy that your interested, especially after reading the book.  I suggest reading on the the other two books in the trilogy also, you can find those on the same sight, the first one is on.  As for adult content, as in sex, it's not disallowed, but it's not going to be a significant part of this game.  Everyone is trying to kill each other, that will be the focus, but lot's of fun will be had to.

Let me know if you need help building a character, or you can ask questions here  as well, if you like. :)

Only added a small thing, lassoing. Figure being a 'cowgirl' she would have some rope skills.  lol

PM heading your way Dis. :D

Accepted and posted Aly <3

Also, Lassoing rocks, I want to sooo learn to do that before I die.

It was not sex I had in mind but rather nudity, torture, abuse, maybe rape...

Could we imagine a rule that, if one character loses more than 50 HPs in a short time, s/he gets stunned, or incapacitated for a short time?

Also, there might be bonus points for those Tributes providing a better show when killing (i.e., slower, more cruel kill, or maybe some rape first...)

A better show could result in getting a parcel that night maybe? Or help in the odds of getting more 'sponsors'.

But in the book it described one Tribute that got so out of hand in their killing the GameMakers sent Peacekeepers in to kill them. So there is that to consider too.

Well yeah, there could very well be nudity, I got the feeling from the books that nudity wasn't that big a deal(considering Katniss thought that she probably would have to go nude for the parade in the first book, when she was thinking about how overboard the capitol stylist's usually are.)  Torture, yeah.  Abuse, yeah.  Rape, sure, although If it last's too long I'll prod some sort of trap to make the characters move on; this goes for consensual sex as well.  Also, I don't want too much sex in this game.  I'm not saying that's what anyone was suggesting, but I'm putting this out now, if this game progresses into some sort of orgy, I'll let loose with a fire or something to break it up.

I'm going to leave the the option of having a character pass out to the perspective players.  And as for parcel's, there's already a system for that.  I might make the parcel something really good, if the tributes put on a good show, but that's going to be up to me.  Also, if the parcel contains something like medicine, I'll add on a note that the character receives HP points, but that's about it.  Overall though, a Tribute wont have an idea of who sponsors them, unless it comes in the form of bread, for example, like in the books, where you can tell which district sent you bread, by what kind of bread it is.

But for all intents and purposes, I'll be the sponsors, so you all put on a good show, and if I find a character noteworthy, they'll receive something good.  I have some good things planned for this game though, so everyone's going to be on the tip of their toes here.

I'm very interested. I haven't read the Hunger Games books but I'm familiar with the concept. I'll add a profile for consideration later tonight after I read up on the rules and system some more.

As Promised:
Name: Sean Wingham
Division: District 4
Age: 17
Gender: Male

Height: 6'2"
Weight: 188 Lbs.
Eyes: Green
Hair: Brown
Skin tone: Light
Distinguishing Marks: None
Physical Description: Though not particularly muscular, Sean has speed and ferocity to spare. His features are well defined and sharp, from his eyes to his abs. His skin is very pale and his most striking feature are his eyes which can communicate his emotions clearly, sometimes against his will.

Likes: Books, bread, family, feeling powerful.
Dislikes: The Government, wealthy people, feeling powerless.
Fears: Being forgotten.
Personality: Brash and often confrontational, Sean is rebellious and protective of himself and his emotions. He's been cautioned several times by friends and family that he can't continue to go through life with a chip on his shoulder without gathering the attention of The Government, but his rebellious nature wouldn't allow him to listen.

History: Son of a baker's assistant, Sean was too small to remember his older brother who was selected as a Tribute in the Hunger Games sixteen years ago. His brother, as most tributes do, died in the Arena and from that day, Sean's father dedicated himself to not letting the same happen to his second son, though he would never admit it out loud. Sean never really understood why it was so important that he go running every morning, or camping at every possible opportunity.

When pressed, Sean's father always said that the reason for his obsessive parenting strategy was because he was trying to turn him into a man. He'd never admit that the training was related to the Hunger Games or the son he'd lost, but it was sort of an understanding between them.

As Sean reached his teenage years, his father realized his dream of opening his own bakery. The new job meant that his father no longer had time to spend with Sean and it led to his son's rebellion. He felt abandoned by his father and his brother who he'd never known and started causing trouble in school and at home.

It's been a secret hope of Sean's for years to participate in The Hunger Games as a tribute. He's very full of anger but only time will tell if that proves to be an advanage or a liability.
I've been in a rut lately, but I'm working on catching up. Sorry for any delay.

Great character write up!  I screamed Peeta when reading it, because he reminds me of that character from the book, but in a good way.

Umm, under fears, can you add something a little more physical.  There's a reason why I'm asking, but that won't be revealed until later in the game.  Once you're done with it, feel free to PM it to me, wrapped in the code tag, and I'll add it up to the character thread. :)
