Alright so this RP is based on a previous one I did, called Operation House of the Rising Sun.   Links and such are located below. 

Now while it was a very short RP, I am rather proud it.  One of the biggest problems I had was I found I was a bit too harsh on the characters lol  They truly never really got a good break and that is something that I promise will have changed in this version. 

This RP is set in the same quasy Warhammer 40k/Starship Troopers universe and will involved some characters from Operation House of the Rising Sun as well.  It takes place not long after the events of Operation HRS and will follow the exploits and missions of LT Warren and his platoon as they serve under Captain Douglas of the Royal Navy.  The Royal Navy being part of the Commonwealth, which is subject state of the Empire.  They have there own laws and customs, but pretty much think the British Empire is space and you're on the money.

Now being that our platoon has access to a Navy destroyer we'll be able to travel around a lot more, and being that Captain Douglas is an insanely corrupt son of a bitch we will have a wide variety of missions for which we can complete.  Fighting xeno's (what in our universe is the name for Aliens in the movies), giant bugs, rebellious human colonies, space orks, and elder (which are basically space elves), and anything else which tickles our fancy too kill.

Now, we will only be playing as humans of the Imperial Guard or the Royal Navy (yes you can play crew members of the HMS Kidd), but know that we are bottom the wrung of the latter people.  There are super soldiers out there and we are NOT them!  We are grunts, the assholes who get sent in too get shot.  We got a bit of a reprieve by working for Douglas, but even he only finds as useful as we are profitable.  This is a good opportunity for the whole platoon though, chance to get some more coin in our pockets and to see the galaxy...And kill shit!

So below is a list of characters I have already taken, so anything outside those roles is up for grabs people!  Hope to get some interest, will answer all questions as they come forward :)

Summary

Paige enlisted at age 18 straight out of high school. She turned Career soldier at 21. She has served with merit in several conflicts, and has advanced slowly through the ranks. Her slow rise is undoubtedly due to several poor fitness for promotion reports which were no doubt prompted by her lack of respect for those placed in command over her.

Paige is an able soldier and a good leader, but seems to think that she can run the army better than anyone else. This would not be such a problem if she were not also vociferous of her opinions. She also has something of a temper, having been involved in a number of off-base "incidents" before the outbreak of the present hostilities. If she were better able to control these latter two flaws, she would have been considered for promotion to officer, years ago. As it stands, she is unlikely to rise further.

Psych Profile

First Sergeant Paige presents quite a conundrum. In peace time and during periods of R&R she exhibits the characteristics of someone with low intelligence. She is unstable and short tempered, with a propensity to speak before thinking. However in combat, she is cool, calm and stable. She has received several citations for bravery under fire, but according to the reports she is never reckless. She always puts the welfare of those under her command first. This has resulted in some of the incidents which have been the cause of her being passed over for promotion on several occasions, and in one case even demoted.

Her inability to control her outspokenness in front of officers - especially senior officers - has resulted in numerous disciplinary hearings. In most cases no action was taken against her because her words, while inappropriate, were generally correct! To quote Brigadier General Princeton-Scott: "The man is indeed a horses ass, Corporal Paige, but you should not have called him it to his face!"

Paige has exhibited a sexual preference for women and while this is not an offence, it has kept her under a certain amount of scrutiny. She has on rare occasions exhibited a tendency to be protective towards the other women in her unit and potentially hostile toward the men.

Hey guys.  :-) I'm aboard and ready to continue with Sarah Tanaka, though I've decided to pass on playing Kara again.

Cal, I already touched on this in my PM, but I was thinking the teleport at the end of OHotRS (lol, weird abbreviation) should be considered non-canon to this game so we don't need to deal with the existence of that tech going forward (why not teleport bombs onto enemy ships, teleport enemy soldiers into space, etc.). We could just assume our unit was rescued in a more conventional way.

Also, I don't want to overstep my bounds as player but the setting seemed like fairly hard sci-fi for the most part and I'm iffy on things getting too warhammer-ish.

I need to admit that I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, Jos.

I stopped reading OHRS shortly after my last post, and I was half expecting everyone to have been killed off!

I have nothing against the squad going on missions, but I would prefer them not to all be suicidal! The first rule of warfare is, don't start a war you can't win! In Heinlein's original book "Starship Troopers", the humans do eventually win the war. (The film, as I said before, was crap, and the "sequel" was actually a reasonable stand-alone sci-fi war-horror movie with nothing whatever to do with Heinlein's book).

I have another condition of my participation, though, Cal. Sorry to be a pain and all, but do you remember a certain incident with a couple of players who joined and created "veteran" characters? Paige came into the room and yelled "TEN-HUT" and they ignored her, and I had her give them a chewing out which they ignored....?

That must not happen.  It is a military unit in time of war and the penalty for disobeying a direct order from a superior is summary execution! Please could you make that plain to everyone? Thanks.

A former doctor and political agitator, Sarah Tanaka was brought in through the Prisoner Enlistment Service. She was convicted of felony subversion and shows no remorse for participating in anti-government protests. Her stated reason for opting into the PES was to continue practicing medicine.

Although she is loyalty-flagged, during Operation House of the Rising Sun she was granted a field promotion by 1LT Joseph Warren from the grade of Private to that of Sergeant in recognition of her bravery during the loss of the transport Roger Young. This action was taken in defiance of PES protocols but has not been investigated due to Tanaka being granted political asylum by the Commonwealth under unusual circumstances.

Despite the shortage of doctors in our combat support hospitals and the subject’s obvious qualifications, it is not recommended that she be employed in this role due to political and security liabilities. Going forward, her activities and those of any current or former associates should be watched closely.

The subject is extremely intelligent, and completed her education at an accelerated rate. Despite some tendencies toward introversion, she was well liked by most of her peers at Mass General. Doctors with decades of experience were known to go to her for help with diagnosing patients.

Her parents, Richard and Keiko Tanaka, have been investigated thoroughly. Despite having lived most of their lives in relative poverty, they test as loyal to the government. It is likely the subject’s initial exposure to subversive materials came about due to her excessive level of curiosity.

Her treasonous lack of respect for political and economic authority stems from her obsession with helping the lower class of society. This manifested in the form of excessive time spent working in a free clinic before finally leading her to illegal associations with anti-government and anti-capitalist groups.

The subject’s acceptance into PES is based on her passion for practicing medicine and firm conviction that patients should be treated with no regard to political considerations—she may despise everything a well-adjusted citizen holds dear, but she is able to put this aside for her work. That said, it would be inadvisable to test this attitude by putting the lives of any high ranking officers or officials in her hands.

Chrystal:  This will be different I promise lol  The amount of suicide missions will have gone down dramatically since they been under Douglas.  Basically they are mercenary group for him.  He uses them in the various illegal and dirty deeded missions he scheme's up.  He also uses them any missions the Kidd is taking part in, but the main reason they are there is too be of profit too him.  They won't be too profitable if they are all dead.  So more kicking ass this time.

The second point I completely agree with.  I let that get out of hand cause I wanted people too stick around but frak that shit.  This is a military RP in a fictional fascist state.  You disobey, you get killed.  That for ANY CHARACTER, including mine.

Douglas bringing someone in like that would indicated a rather personal relationship, and Douglas frankly is a bit too much of snob too hang out with privates or specialists.  He can appreciate their ability yes, but too actually interact and request they move as favour too him?  No lol

But really I see no issue with a character coming along with platoon with those specialties

James is a loyal soldier who wants to do his best and impress the higher ups. He isn’t looking to brown nose though he wants recognition for his skills in his MOS. James seems to be very impressionable but at times even he has a cold and efficient edge that comes out.

When outside the heat of battle James is light hearted and funny, at least he thinks so. The realities of war have yet to crush his spirit and he is always trying to keep the mood around him upbeat.

When James is working with a device there is nothing else in the world he is completely focused in. This can be dangerous for himself because he will ignore his surrounding even under fire and will not leave a device until it is disarmed, properly set, or until he dies.

I'm not the GM here of course, but just wanted to say that to me this looks good.  :-)

One thing to keep in mind is that there is a very different mood in this setting's army compared to real life western armies. A lot of the soldiers are conscripts or even former prisoners--because of this there is a certain reliance on fear to keep soldiers in line. Also the Empire is a brutal dictatorship where dissent is not tolerated. Heavy casualties are typical of most infantry units, though our platoon is in a better situation now thanks to some shady dealings.

I tend to be more dominant and so my characters are normally. I had this idea that I would start James out I guess I would say naïve and one of two things would happen he will die quick or he will become a cold hearted killer. Based on what I saw from your last rp I can see how it could go both ways yes see some horrible things or maybe someone tries to take advantage of him and he snaps and turns the tables on them. That sort of idea.

• Petty Officer Rosie Gullins (played by myself) is a submissive lesbian slut hooked on tranquillisers after a horrifying experience from which she was rescued. • First Sergeant Kerry Paige (also played by myself) is a grizzled veteran of many a conflict. She is the platoon's senior NCO and has in fact turned down a Company Sergeant posting to stay with her grunts. She is the sort of non-com who takes no shit from anyone, which is the main reason she isn't an officer - she has almost as many disciplinary hearings on her record as campaigns. She is also not averse to "disposing" of an officer if it looks like said officer is getting her grunts killed without good reason. Paige is a lesbian dominatrix, she enjoys inflicting punishment, whether on the parade ground or in her bunk. She is currently looking for someone soft and compliant to join her in said bunk on a regular basis.

So, be you dominant, submissive or (like me) a little of both, I have someone for you to enjoy.

1.  Captain William Douglas - Sleezy yet suave Captain of the Kidd who manipulates and charms women into his bed.  His dominant always, and has a good bit of a dark side too him.

2. Lt Warren - Old war vet, made his way up from solider to officer.  Though tough on the outside, were a woman to be able to break past his tough shell he would truly care for and love them.  Is actually quite tender in the sack.

Summary  Born on Negus VI, Max grew up in a relatively well to do family daughter to a high level counsel member.  Destined to a life of politics or business which was the way of her family, Max was recruited from private school at age 16 after demonstrating a superb aptitude for tactical thinking and use of weapons.  Having excelled at boot camp and in standard infantry training, Max was moved into training with special operations units as a weapons specialist and sniper.  After a number of successful missions behind enemy lines and into hostile territory, Max and her team were pulled back for the new offensive.  Quietly slipping out of enemy space their transport was attacked and almost destroyed.  Only Max and one other of her team survived, spending 7 months on a medical ship recovering.  Max has been reassigned to support mobile infantry until a new team can be assembled.

Appearance
Max is small by most military standards but her size to her is an advantage not a disadvantage.  5 foot 5 inches made up of mostly muscle, her frame is tight but curvy.  Short raven black hair stopping just above her shoulders keeps the mess away in combat situations.  While the body armor and uniform only accentuate part of her frame, once removed her pert 34 C breasts and curvy waist line have been known to distract even the largest of opponents.
