Angel Fire

Jennifer Glazer Angel Fire
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Sexual Orientation: Confused

Powers: Jennifer has the ability to manipulate the heat surrounding her body and focus it into one spot or a general area, almost like a blast of heat at times or an aura of heat at other times.  The hotter the weather is around hre, the more intense the heat generation can get.  Though it looks like she is creating fire and starting the flames as the end result of her blasts most times, she does not have that ability.  Also if any fires do start because of her heat powers, she does not have the ability to control those flames.  Other than her heat powers, she is just your average teenager with no special fighting skills or any means of defending herself.

Weaknesses: As much as Jennifer needs heat around her body to have any effect on her powers, cold does the exact opposite to her.  If the temperature around her is below freezing, she is just like any other human with the difference for her being that she could wind up with frostbite or hypothermia much quicker than any other human.

Bio: Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Jennifer was born to average parents who had worked in the local fishing industry.  They were very sweet parents and had always took care of her but were very concerned when Jennifer had kept getting sick for long periods of time, especially during the long winters of the Frozen North.  Reluctantly, Jennifer was forced to move down to the Continental US (the Lower 48 as she calls it) to see if there were any specialized doctors that could help her with her condition.  None of them were successful as Jennifer had kept getting sicker and sicker until one day, she had accidentally melted a plastic coffee cup with her own bare hands.  Not having any clue about what was happening, Jennifer was very scared and ran away from the hospital, out into the cold world.

Personality: Jennifer tends to be on the quiet and shy side, being more shy than anything.  She chooses her friends very carefully as the only people that she has really known are her parents and immediate family.  She may stay quiet until she gets to know the people around her.  When she gets to know a person and feels like there could be a sense of trust between herself and the other person, than she will try to defend that person and stand by him or her no matter the outcome.
Description:

OOC Sexual Preferences: I don't mind playing out the sexual scenes but to me, describing the emotions of the characters during those scenes is much more powerful to me than writing about what happens during the act itself.  Tell me how it feels to your character doing those acts; tell me how light or rough your character would be with mine.  In other words, I need descriptive words and feelings during those scenes if they do occur.  Please don't let the sex be the main part of the relationship with my character if such a thing does happen.
Can you capture this fiery Angel and make her yours?!  Try before she slips away into the night... If you wish.

"Looking good, so everyone, it's time to start talking a little more about the school itself. I'll be tweaking the main post to add the OOC thread, and a few IC threads will be open in a while (I might lock them until I am ready to actually start, but the base threads will exist)."

"So, here's the first few things relating to the school's layout. First and foremost, there are three 'branches' of the school 'dormitories'. The A-Level Wing houses students who have been determined (based on powers and psychological profile) to be low threats. Each individual has a semi-furnished room (bed, footlocker, desk, and a reasonable amount of room) and there is a comfortable (though not overly so) and large Commons area catering to the entire A-Level Wing. This area has minimal security, and students from the other levels are allowed in only with an escort (an enforcer, who might be assigned to more than one student if they are in the same area)."

"The B-Level Wing is more secure, with rooms that can be more easily locked down, and some students forced to share rooms (characters attributed to B-Level can ask to either be placed in the 'barracks', a 'bunk' room, or a 'single' room; if you wish to share a 'bunk' room, talk to other players if you feel you might wish to share a bunk). The B-Level Wing also has a Commons area, which is accessible by A-Level students freely."

"Finally, the C-Level Wing has no Commons area, and is highly secure. C-Level students are expected to be watched by an enforcer (even if not being personally escorted) at all times, except in their own room or cell. C-Level students have precautions placed in their room, customized to their particular abilities, and may be placed in unfurnished 'cells'. C-Students in Cells are considered 'Cellers', a term used by enforcers and students to note the most dangerous students in the school. Some students are placed in cells due to psychoses, some are there because of the high danger level posed by their powers, and the most dangerous students are often rarely allowed out of their cells (these characters will probably be used only as villains or threats in special story arcs, as they might not be much fun to play on a 'daily' basis)."

"You may create a thread specifically for your room, especially if you bunk with another player, or need privacy for a 'scene'. Players should really refrain from peeking into 'private' areas, unless they ask permission, and even then, keeping it to a minimum to avoid metagaming."

"A few notes on sexual relations. Students of different levels (especially C-Level students), will find privacy to be difficult. A-Level students can easily intermingle, and are generally capable of getting into B-Level rooms without much issue (B-Level students visiting A-Level rooms is almost unheard of unless they bunk and desire more privacy). C-Level students usually have to find ways to get rid of their escorts, or possibly bring an A-Level or B-Level student to the C-Level Wing and simply try to be clever, quick, and/or quiet. However, most C-Level students will find a way (if anyone really wants to pursue a relationship with a C-Level student, just PM me if you can't think of a good way to get some privacy, I will RP one in).

"Teachers can have whatever relations they want, and Teacher-Student relations are frowned on, but since Teachers have a great deal of autonomy, and can simply order enforcers away, no one can really say anything about them. Mr. Kelly (during his rare visits) is really the only person who will crack down on Teacher-Student relations, (or really any relations) and most of the time, teachers and students just avoid public displays of affection around him in general."

"Enforcers are usually very militaristic, and generally wear heavy armor and masks, and are rarely sexualized. Some even seem to be blanked out. Besides actual enforcer characters, I will run generic NPC enforcers all over the place, if I'm not actively involved in a scene, you can ask permission to play out a few actions from an enforcer for the sake of your story, and I will give you a few guidelines. Generally, I'll allow it, as long as you don't get ridiculous about it."

"Players should not, however, imply control of the actions of teachers or the headmaster. If you need a 'school' excuse or 'prop', use vague terms like 'I have homework', not 'I have an essay due for <so-and-so teacher>'... Also, don't name teachers and such unless you are talking about known characters, or an established teaching 'NPC'. This way players who want to make teachers won't be shoe-horned in the attempt."

I have a quick question--should the players decide which level dorm our characters are in, or is that a GM decision?

ManyMindsManyVoices

"It's a GM decision, but it can be petitioned if you feel you can justify it. Just don't petition that your character is more or less dangerous and then not depict them that way. So far, and this had been reflected on the roster sheets, the placements are as follows:"

A-Level - Chang Mi-Young, Jason Lonestar (Lucky bastards)

B-Level - Vincente Erudito, Jennifer Glazer, Evelyn Ishida, Valen Smithens (Start considering if you are a barracks kid, a 'bunk'-er', or a 'single' room)

C-Level - Sam Edwards, Elric Walker, Natasha Wright (C-Level rooms, no Cell-types so far, cramped rooms with only a bed and some padding, but still better than cells)

"Also, of note, there are several small bathrooms (toilet/sink) all over the school, each with an enforcer posted outside. However, there is a main bathroom area, with several (at least 20 or 30) stall toilets, many more sinks (for brushing teeth and grooming), and open showers (for quick rinses) and stall showers. Anyone considered a risk is always escorted in the bathrooms (Sam around water, or someone who could turn into water) and gets minimal privacy. Most others get the basic privacy of a stall in the shower or toilet, with enforcers posted all around the bathing areas."

Nods. "I know, that's why I said I am tempted... Also, early I pointed out that I was going to wait til it got going before I did decide to actually think about if I was going to make another or not."

"Alright, well, anyway, I'm in the midst of setting up. I think it would be fun if someone wanted to play a complete newbie and we could roleplay their 'retrieval'. First insights are always a good way to start a new game or story."

This looks sustainable. How would you feel if I made character who's powers are a curse. I'm thinking along the lines of a reverse shape-shifter. Her power is that her features and her body can be altered to a limited extent by other peoples thoughts. I'd limit it so she couldn't become overpowered and could only have one master at a time, and only from stock strong enough to take advantage of her. With one person she may have super powers, while with another she would be a slave. The irony will be that most normal people can't alter her but she has found herself in a school full of people who can for the most part.

I didn't write a profile because I don't know if you might consider this reality bending and wanted to get an opinion first. It might not even be considered a power. I was thinking the changes could be slow so the body has time to take in nutrients and alter itself if need be. A lot would depend on how I limit the ability.
All about what I like!

"Her power could be empathic shapeshifting, she latches onto the strongest personality near her (or the one most focused on her) and can change or be forced to change by their will. She cannot gain powers too far from the abilities of the person she's attached to; it's an interesting ability. Go ahead and write it up, and I'll see if it seems too overpowered."

Well, Valen Smithens could be newbie. He had been just freshly picked up from mental facility and so he's quite bit messed up at moment (and he has some meds to take because he was drugged most of time and he needs steadily drop the doses to avoid nasty withdraw effects). One reasons why he's put on B section because he has been brought from mental facility but he came willingly and is otherwise calm (altough deeply depressed). But also his powers are kind of tricky to handle. As he can easily animate wall, door or anything near him. Only reason he did not manage run out mental facility because drugs mess up his powers (or able to focus really). So enforcers who go after him are adviced to use drug needles which mess his brain or focus.

ManyMindsManyVoices

"I figured, since he was placed in the school by a government agency that is concerned that he might manifest stronger abilities."

"Of note: when one is 'drug pangs' as it were, it's withdrawal, not withdraw."

<Name>Kenny Everett <Player Name>fallensaviour
Gender: m
Age: 23
Callsign:
Sexual Orientation: straight

Powers: Subject Everett's metabolism creates radioactive energy as he digests and breaks down food, as of yet subject is unable or unwilling to control his powers, this has resulted in the death of his family and several neighbors when he claims his powers first activated. Subject needs to be kept in isolation in a nuclear proof room until such time as he is able/willing to control himself (look into setting up a back up battery to charge off his energy).  if unable to control himself perhaps some sort of isolated suit? that keeps his energies inside.
Subject also displays above average intellect, unclear whether this is related to his mutation

Weaknesses: Other than his emission of and apparent immunity to radiation, Subject is a normal human of his age.  In addition the isolation of his containment room has had some adverse psychological effects.  this seems to have left the subject emotionally needy among other potential psychological problems.
due to his mutation subject is unable to interact with most others without a full body containment suit

Bio: Kenney Everett's powers emerged one night when he was 16.  By the next morning the unsuspecting neighborhood was dead from radiation poisoning.  Kenny awoke and found his parents dead, he immediately called the police.  After they arrived they placed him in the care of the ExCiv boarding school.

Personality: Once one of the most popular students at his former school, the isolation he has been forced to undergo due to his powers has made him re-devote himself to his studies.  However, this has not done enough to offset the inherant psychological problems with learning that he was responsible for the deaths of his parents, and he will likely go through most of his life not knowing the touch of another human.

OOC Sexual Preferences: I enjoy playing out sex scenes i dont care about length as long as each post moves the plot forward, i prefer heterosexual sex

Thanks from correction, trying learn english so your advices are appreciated :). Anycase I let you decide factors regarding does Valen's powers grow stronger/more potent. Also that does he had heritaged his father's powers and what his father's powers were exactly which caused the big fuss in the government. But true that one reasons why he has been put to B section is because agency is worried about his potential abilities. But to avoid panic they do not place him to C section.

Anycase for Valen he prefers to be alone with himself for now (so single room or bunk room without roommate) as he's kind of still shocked about killing his parents. But he would not go hermit and he would try socialize with other students in the common area.

ManyMindsManyVoices

"Alright, for Kenny there, he's going to be at a definite turning point in his character. He should be taking 'college' classes, so you should consider what he wants to do with himself. Maybe he hoping to become a member of the staff, as the benefits may outweigh the potential moral dilemma. Either way, at 23, he is likely on his way to some kind of end with ExCiv, so think about that carefully. He will be a C-Level 'Celler', because his power has far too much damage potential. He is also probably wearing something to either absorb or suppress the radiation, or is being constantly fed mild sedatives, to keep the power in check."

"To Zaer, I forgot to cover the thing you mentioned in your post, Zaer could be a newbie, that's up to you. However, I was thinking a student who has a more 'traditional' retrieval. I want to show the events that many students tend to go through in the process of getting to the school itself."

well depending how this verse is, i was planning on having him double doctorate in robotic and nuclear engineering and develop/modify some sort of combat suit to be powered by his radiation (something like iron man) and possibly work as a registered hero or something simmilar to that

Zaer Darkwail

Ok, if you do not mind then Valen could be newbie. Or perhaps roleplay the scene where he is picked up from mental hospital by the agency (go bit back on the past what I initially wrote as background). Or do you mean with traditional pick up; gun shot fired sedative needle (or taser shock) and drag/kidnap onto the school?

"The idea for this setting is that it portrays a darker and slightly more realistic tone to 'extrahumans'. Extrahuman vigilantes are frowned upon (if not killed for public endangerment), and the ECPA extends to more than just the schools, forcing extrahumans to register and be maintained (under the guise of a protective service). Many of those who go to ExCiv do not leave and become productive, and ExCiv does not do advanced degrees. At best you'll be taking preparatory classes or geting your bachelor's degree before you graduate and leave the school."

"However, it's likely that Kenny is already experiencing trouble graduating, as ExCiv's higher ups would be trying to keep someone with his level of power from getting out. Unless he showed some kind of interest in joining the school and working for it where they can monitor him. I'll let you decide if he is finishing up pre-Doctorate degrees and struggling to get out from under ExCiv's thumb, or trying to help the school, join the school, or something else altogether."

"However, the likelihood of him being capable of building a suit anytime soon, without government backing, is unlikely (in a realistic context, how long do you think it would take a single scientist, without actual superhuman intelligence, to create a powersuit; they exist, but most of them are considered military grade and difficult to attain without military or government connections)."

So I assume D level is the most dangerous, with C being almost there. :p

"As for Zaer, I don't mind him being picked up from the mental facility or just being new in general. However, what I meant was, that the character I wanted to show getting 'retrieved' is one who gets brought to ExCiv like a normal student would, probably with a struggle involved."

"D-Level? Some might refer to certain students as D-Level, but officially, it goes up to C-Level. D-Level might be a term people use (like 'salt-miner') to refer to 'Cellers' that are generally too dangerous to let out of their cells without an escort at all times and are usually kept in their cells."

fair enough...though in all likely hood he'd view exciv as a pennance for the murders that are on his conscience...deservingly or not

edit: i actually figured he was left in his cell and telecommunicated into things that he needed to be in...and personality wise he'd probably have been an a class...except the whole uncontroled power that can easily kill things around him

Wolfy

So, for the C-level students, what will we be doing? :p If we're not allowed the freedom of exploring the school, what will we do?

ManyMindsManyVoices

"C-Level students can move freely about, except they are watched carefully, and require escorts to the Commons areas. There are so many enforcers all over the school, most C-Level students hardly notice the difference of having one follow them around unless they want actual privacy. If you want privacy (for certain types of scenes), you'll have to be clever or PM me and I'll hint at ways you might sneak someone into a secret area or something."

"Otherwise, most C-Level students are allowed to walk around and act as normal, so long as they don't pose a constant threat to the students. Speaking of,"

He probably requires supervision to take showers, so that he can remove the 'harness' and not be a threat. Squelch probably acts as his escort at those times because he can 'quench' radioactive activity on a small enough scale."
