For 300 years, the Four Races struggled against the might of the Horde.
Then the Four Races became Five.    Then Seven.    Then Eight.

Welcome to the land of Arkhaime, where magic is common and civilization clashes with chaos.     The lands of the Four Races extend from the northern shores of Harappa (the land of the Shien) to the southern border of Akkadian (the home of the Aelum), stretching a distance of approximately 3000 miles.   Nestled between the two nations exist two more nations: Sakhalin (the home of the Nekomi) and Hi-Brazil (where Humans call home).

At first, there were Four Races.   The Shien, with their elongated ears; the Aelum, with the aspects of the beast; the Nekomi, a cat people; and the Humans, whom never seem to give up.     They were joined during the Great War of the Races by four other races.     The Cerkle, an all female group of water fey; the Talsar, alchemically modified humans to serve as spellcasters; the Shikabane, both undead and alive; and the Warborn, who's feathered wings carry them to the skies.

Currently, the Races enjoy a period of relative peace and prosperity; their capital cities connected by world gates that enhance trade as well as aid in the exchange of ideas.   The nine Gods watch over the lands of their followers, aiding their prosperity and their growth.

But yet, they must be ever on their guard for beyond the southern border of Akkadian lie the savage lands.     A largely unexplored land and home to the Horde: the pot-bellied Pudwudges, the fleet-footed Gibber, the formidable Fomorians, and the indomitable Surtur.

You represent a group of retrieval specialist and trouble-shooters dispatched from Avalon (the capital of Hi-Brazil) into the land of Akkadian.   There you will battle the Horde, retrieve lost relics, and generally grow in experience.   You start out as fresh-faced (first-level) adventurers to brave the challenges of this world, group size of four to six.

I will still GM this if there's sufficient interest.   If not, that's good too.

Miroque

how  big party would you need to run this game ?
And what would you want the party be themed around `? (survivors from the chaos or members of some organization etc?)

Whats the smut/plot ratio you intended to have?

If you would answer to those few questions, people would be more prone to apply (and/or disapply if it does not hit their fancy)

Miroque

And it seems the download is behind some identification thingy... (for those guides)

GunmetalDreamer

I'm interested, but my computer is going to be out of commission until sometime next week.  I won't really be able to build a character until then.

That said, I did get a chance to page through the Guides.  There's some interesting stuff there, and I hope your effort is rewarded.

I'd be looking for a group size of 4-6.    There's a couple of ways to set up the campaign (on the character side); you could either be a wandering idol (entertainer) group, a team sent by the ruling council of Avalon (the capital of Hi-Brazil), or just a random bunch of strangers who were in the wrong place at the right time.

GunmetalDreamer

I had something occur to me while I was out and about . . . there are no character gen guidelines just yet.

Are you looking to randomly role stats, or is there a Point-Buy budget you were looking for?  If we're still in the "gauging interest" stage, I suppose it's not essential, but anyone who wants to tinker with builds from the Guides is going to need that information.

(Also, as someone who has d20 Slayers sitting on a shelf, pleasantly surprised to see it tapped for spell casting shenanigans).

I'd be looking at choice of a 25 point buy or rolling the heroic method (2d6+6), minimum stat of 10.   But yes, I'm also looking for a head count.

GunmetalDreamer

Alright then.  For the purposes of a headcount (and to plant a flag), I'll likely submit a Shikibane Brute when the opportunity presents itself (which might be a little sooner than I'd originally thought).

Cessali

I had no idea I wanted this until I actually saw it.

I'm interested, and I'm thinking a Warborn Duelist of some sort.

Definately interested.
Plants interest for a Shien Idol

Miroque

I will upload to Dropbox, hopefully that'll be easier to download.   Dropbox

I'm designing things for a group size of 4-6, one skill monkey, and 1-2 spell-casters.   Flexible, of course.

So you can think about character building, I'll go ahead and toss out the reminder of 25 point buy or rolling the heroic method (2d6+6).     I'll include some of the Lore that I've gotten done up to this point for perusal.   Any questions, just ask.

Also, I'll give the players a choice of how they enter the campaign.    Please feel free to discuss this, as some of them require more integrated backgrounds than others.     For the background, I'm a picture and a paragraph kinda GM.
Campaign Setup:
A) Government sent for support.   (i.e. something like The Four )
B) Traveling entertainer (idol) group or some other freelance.    (e.g. something like a mercenary band, which may have a focus other than fighting)
C) Randomly wander into it.  (i.e. wrong place, right time).
D) Other: specify

Timeline
While much of the prehistory has been lost during the period known as the Great Race War, fragments which are preserved mostly in oral form remain.   What has been provided here should be considered only the most important pieces.

The Demi-Human Wars (1180 to 990 years ago)
1180-1156 = The First Human/Aelum War
1160-1144 = The Nekomi/Shein War
1100-1088 = The Human/Nekomi War
1021-990 = The Second Human/Aelum War

The Golden Age (990 to 370 years ago)
980-925 = The various Worldgates are built.

The Great Race War (370 to 50 years ago)
370 = The Aelum find themselves engaged in wide scale skirmishes against the various forces of the Horde.
363 = The first battle of Ubaid.    This is the point most historians define as the beginning of the Great Race War.  From this point, the conflict ceases to be fought merely by the Aelum and instead is fought by all four of the demi-human races.
327 = The Talsar are first created.
283 = The Warborn first appear.
267 = The Cerkle join the conflict.
123 = The Shikabane emerge.
50 = The second battle of Ubaid.   After this time, Horde forces seem to return to the infrequent skirmishes that marked their conflict with the Aelum during the Golden Age.  Because of this, the Great Race War is declared a victory.

And thank you, with dropbox, i was easy to DL them:)

I will go through them, and go from there..

Miroque

now, as I have gone through the books..

Shikabane Mystic, trying to find what she have forgotten, from her past life, and why was she brought back to beginning with. Character can easily be linked to any group (being healer type). //Quick bio //

GunmetalDreamer

Miroque

i was thinking of "just" reborn character, that does not remember much (if all) of her former life.. and tries to put her puzzle of life back together. Dont know how much "ghost-buddy" she will be, unless their backgrounds are somehow interwoven ..

Im huge fan of Kindred of the East supplement for original World of Darkness, and Shikabane game out thosekind of wibes.

Hunter

I've still got openings for two more players should there be any additional interest.

GunmetalDreamer

So, practical question, does the Brute's fists count as Light Weapons for purposes of Two Weapon Fighting, or alternatively should I be looking at Multiattack?

Miroque

another practial questions: Where woudl you want us to post our characters and sheets ?

Arcanist

Since I am playing an idol, a traveling entertainment group or at least a front for a government grout from what I see from the current make-up.

I'll post a thread, then.   You may use any style, format, or website as long as the information is down in a manner that you find comfortable to use.

A couple of reminders: the character creation thread is open (ask if you have any questions) and there's also room for a few more if anyone's interested.   Unless someone has a different preference, we'll go with the government set-up.

Arcanist

OKay, All posted and done.
Would appreciate a look see Hunter.
Thanks
