A few years after the events of the Chroma Conclave

Emon- The capital city of Tal Dorei is still being rebuilt, and in the middle of it all there is a political uproar. Can the council keep the fighting to a minimum long enough to rebuilt the city?

Whitestone- Flourishing under the direction of the De Rolo family, Whitestone now has its famous Clock Tower, and hosts a inventors convention every year. Welcome to the 6th annual Whitestone Inventor Con!

Vasselheim- For centuries Vasselheim has been devoid of magic, but now magic is terrorizing its citizens. But magic is the only thing that can stop the terror. Oh the conundrum! How will Vasselheim deal with this massive undertaking?

Westrunn- Finally being rebuilt, the Cobalt Reserve needs young scholarly recruit to survive this trying years.

Hey guys! So I have a D&D game I have been running in real life based in this setting, my idea was to start a group on here in that same setting. So this is just a general interest check.

But this adventure will be a build your own adventure style campaign, where we begin by crafting ideas for plot and characters.

Some house keeping things;

1. You do not have to play a canon character, this is very much a generic D&D 5e game.
2. You are allowed two characters, an OC and a canon character. Or two OC characters.
3. Communication is key, interested but think there is some things that could use improving? Let me know! I'm happy to work with my players.
4. I am looking for an assistant DM to help me with this epic adventure, so if you are interested shoot me a PM! We'll discuss.
5. This campaign will not be centered around smut, however it is welcome and encouraged!

Last but most important, have fun. Its a game, and I'm ready to play it if you all are!

I’d be interested!

Awesome! If I get at least two more interested people I'll write up the character sheet format and campaign guide and link the Tal Dorei wiki so we can get started building our adventure.

Keeping an eye on this.

Good good, just don't remove it and put the eye on the thread. That would be weird, and make it hard to see. ;)

Great! n_n I’ve caught a little from Critical Roll but could definitely use a primer for Tal dorei!

I actually have a full campaign guide for the setting. Which is extremely nifty and well written.

Still room in here?  I'm totally unfamiliar with Tal Dorei and Critical Role, and will most certainly want to play an original character, but I'm happy to learn the setting.

In writing, a flaw is not the interesting part of a character.  What is interesting is how a person overcomes a flaw.  I want to read how a person overcomes a flaw, not how the flaw overcomes the person.

Definitely a fan of Critical Role, and I know how the first Campaign ended, which makes me wonder if this is right after you know what was taken down or if that hasn't happened yet?  Either way, I would likely go with an OC, if for no other reason than I'd like a fresh perspective I suppose.  :D  I'll be keeping my eyes on this too most likely.

'Cough' Percy/Vex child 'cough'.  :P  Well, likely one of several knowing what those two get up to just during the show lol.  Who's to say what happened after the show was over?  ;D

Seriously though, depending on how much time has passed between the Conclave and when this takes place, children of Vox Machina might be a thing.  Hopefully our DM will be able to give us a direct date to work from.

Yeeeah. I've never seen an episode of Critical Role (unless you count Pat Rothfuss' guest appearance on DCA with Kerrek?) and while I personally think Nott the Brave's character design is fuckin' awesome, I won't be trying to portray characters I've never seen  ;D OC's all the way.

keyotess

Nott is brilliant!  I especially loved the reveal that she was the parent figure between her and Caleb! :)

Here's hoping there's still room?  I've seen quite a bit of the first campaign, or I suppose listened to would be the more accurate term.  I'm totally blind IRL, so only have the audio portion to go on.  Still a great show even without visuals.  I'm currently listening through episode 101, and haven't yet gotten to the second campaign, though I will shortly.  I'm interested to find out about someone with PTSD though.  I don't have experience with it, or know anyone, but the concept sounds unique.

Anyway, I'd most definitely be playing an original character for this.  Cannon characters of any genre are something I try to stay away from, as I'd rather come up with my own idea/personality, rather than try to mimic someone else's.  That, and I feel I wouldn't do the character justice, so I stay away from trying to portray them in the first place.

Well, I planned to make that start of the story building part. That I was going to have us do after characters were established. However I am adding basic world timelines and plots to the campaign guide once that is done. Should be up Sunday afternoon.

Well yeah, spoilers will come as we go along I'm sure. But that will all be IC hopefully.

Also everyone making character sheets for application, follow a 25 point stat buy.

Hmmm so many options......

Cleric of the Beer Domain, Kobold Inquisitive, Monk Barmaid Kensei of Improvised weapons, Eladrin Paladin of Love.

I am curious to see what others are thinking for race/class combo.

Emily Briarwood, a human fighter Gunslinger who's fighting to redeem even a modicum of her family's VERY tainted honor.

Hope that helps a bit Crash.  ;D

Personal Information

Name:  Emily Marquis  (Her real name is Emily Briarwood)
Race:  Human
Gender: Female
Orientation/Sexuality:  Bisexual, but she prefers women
Age: 23
General Description:  She's the spitting image of her mother, Delilah Briarwood, if she'd been far more lithe and lean and prone to sharpshooting instead of raising the dead and destroying people's lives wherever she went.  Emily's brown eyes and shortly cropped, artfully combed dark brown hair hangs over the left side of her face, partially obscuring her angular, well defined if round features and smooth, clear if pale skin.  She's purely human, having been born before her father was reborn as a vampire after his untimely death, her paleness is more due to her intense studies into alchemical compounds and the like, which has stained her fingertips black with gunpowder and soot.  Beyond that however, she maintains her noble esque appearance with a dark blue overcoat with brass buttons, a dark, richly embroidered bandana that hangs around her neck, a hard suit of black leather armor over a plain white cloth shirt, and a pair of dark blue matching long pants tucked into well worn dark brown, near black leather boots that match her equally dark brown belt around her slender hips.  A Pepperbox holster is just visible beneath the confines of her coat, with a long, currently empty, rifle holster on her back, a number of belt pouches and their ilk attached to her belt.  A sword also rests on her hip, but she rarely uses it if she can help it.

Role Play Centered Information

Class: Fighter (Gunslinger)
Level: 3rd
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Character Sheet:  Emily 'Marques' Briarwood
Additional Information:  Due to her long travels, at least so far, after fleeing her mother's home in Wildmount, Emily knows full well the evil her name has attached to it, and has done all she can to restore her family's lost honor.  The fact that they've nearly destroyed the world on Vecna's unholy order, she has a long, LONG way to go before she can even get close, but as a result, Vecna's lingering followers have made the mistake of coming after her.  Not only that, but given Percival and Cassandra's De Rollo's complicated history with the Briarwoods that's drenched in blood, Emily knows better than to go anywhere near Whitestone if she can help it on the off chance one or both of them, not counting Lady Vex'ahlia, happens to hold a grudge.

History
Family:  Unfortunately it's Delilah and Sylas Briarwood as her mother and father respectively, before her father was killed and became a vampire anyway.
Hometown:  Emon when she isn't on the road, pursuing any Vecha worshipers she can put down.
A little about personality: "I know full well my mother was a murdering, psychotic bitch, and my father....was a literal monster before he was forced into hiding after Vecna was stopped.  I can't say if he's still alive, or if someone finally put him down, only that I am well aware of my family's crimes, and I am damned determined to do everything I can to restore my family's honor one Vecna worshiper at a time if that's what it takes.  As such, I won't hesitate to pull the trigger on anyone who would dare to hold onto the Whispered One's dark promises, but if the De Rollos wish my life, I won't fight their judgment.  It would be fitting justice, but only if it's actually justice and not more petty vengeance driving their blade, or in Percy's case, his gun arm, in spilling my blood."
General Life Story:  As far as most of the world is concerned, the Briarwoods were destroyed in Whitestone when Percy and the rest of Vox Machina cleaned out their evil influences above and below the ancient stone fortress.  In truth, Delilah had had one daughter several years before Sylas wound up becoming a vampire due to her dark deal with Vecna, the Whispered One, a man who became a god on this side of the Divine Barrier.  Emily Briarwood, who immediately changed her name to Marques when she realized just how far gone her family was when word reached their home in Wildemount, and she disappeared from the world about the same time her parents were killing most of the De Rollo family.  If not for a few sane and loyal retainers that hadn't been magically 'persuaded' to obey Delilah's strict orders, Emily would've wound up another brain dead cultist, driven to destroy the world as they knew it, but because she had good people at her back, a human maid who happened to know a few things about the real world due to her low upbringing, and a loyal gnomish bodyguard who had been a worshiper of the Raven Queen, Emily was able to become her own person.  When word reached her that Delilah and Sylas Briarwood had been killed, she was happy about the loss since her few memories of them when they were around weren't pleasant.  As such, she knew from a very young age that they'd been nothing but bad news, (an irony given later events involving Percy and his long rifle), and while she wept for the loss, she was ultimately able to move past it.  Unfortunately for her, their death wasn't to last as Delilah returned not once, but twice, with Sylas never far behind given his undead nature.  Only after Vecna was put down and his cult broken, his zombie Titan he fully intended to unleash on Vasselheim destroyed, did Emily begin her journey, having been living alone long enough, honing her skills and abilities.  It didn't help that she had heard Vecna in her mind just like countless other people had when he had originally ascended, and a few of his minions had tried to take her back to her 'family'.  She'd made it a point to send them back with new holes in their bodies after completing her first gun.

To the world these days, Emily Briarwood died around the same time Vecna was defeated, her father forced to flee, and her mother gone and truly dead this time.  In her place, Emily Marques, so named for the gnomish woman that led her to the Raven Queen, was left behind in her wake, with the good people of Emon being none the wiser as to who she truly is or had once been.  Ever since that fateful day, she's done all she can to destroy every remnant of Vecna's dark influence, while collecting what money she can to upgrade and maintain her delicate instruments, as well as to keep herself loaded for bear in ammo and alchemical components for her guns.  Otherwise, what money she has left, when it isn't used on food and drink, is often donated to the nearest church to the Raven Queen, more in remembrance of the two that all but raised her from those far darker days when the Briarwoods had once roamed the surface of Exandria.  As such, Raven's Flight, a pepperbox design of her own imagination rather than one that was 'inspired' by a powerful shadow demon, is never far from her right hand, and it's often the last thing enemies hear before they're sent to their dead god in bloody pieces.

Picture is beautiful. Character is dynamic, backstory is fleshed out nust enough to give me material. We are good!

Vergil1989

I tried my best.  :D

I don't have a name for the human maid woman or the gnomish paladin that taught her almost everything she knows, so feel free to come up with info for those two as you llike, my only request is that the gnome indeed be involved with the Raven Queen, and that the maid leaning towards a very low level rogue type of person.  I MIGHT have Emily get some ties with the criminal underworld later, learning thieves cant and what have you, but otherwise you're free to do as you like.  :D

As far as her planned weapons, her Pepperbox is currently unenchanted, and I don't have anything for a Bad News type of rifle yet, BUT as I said in my PM, I DO plan to enchant her Pepperbox to hold a life drain type of effect along with some necrotic damage when she can make it happen.  As for her rifle, other than a scope I don't know what I plan to do with that yet.  I'm sure we'll figure it out later though.  See ya!

Name:  Arch-Matriarch Millicent Stokes
Race:  Half-Elf
Class:  Paladin Who Has Taken the Oath of Vengeance
Alignment: LN
Age:  24
Sexuality:  Lesbian

Background: Blessed by the virtues and gifts of the Goddess, Dol Arrah, the Stokes line has long served as warriors and mentors. They have not forgotten the original meaning of their name nor their profession in times ancient and unspoken, they were Gardeners. Even now the motto upon their blades and crests stands as it did centuries before. “Nurture the Virtuous. Cull the Wicked.”

A small army unto themselves, the Stokes Matriarchs are half-sisters all, their mothers line blessed and the male seed of their conception carefully chosen to suit a breeding program. That said, even given every advantage, some flowers can not bloom in the shadow of so many others.

Choked from the light of Dol Arrah, some grow stunted and... deviant. Any priestess within the Order of Light would see through this allegory and know that we are speaking of the Arch-Matriarch Millicent Stokes...

A radiant child, as lovely as she was a cunning manipulator, she held sway over the young acolytes through a combination of playground diplomacy and physical superiority. An artist with the blade and tongue, her slothfulness in regards to her studies left its mark. To quote one of her mentors, “We have failed the Goddess greatly in not better tempering Millicent... We have raised her to be charming without sincerity. Vicious before virtuous. Clever before wise. On good days, it is my hope that the saying is true, that “Dol Arrah does not make magnificent things without purpose”. During darker mornings, I worry that we have given her dangerous gifts but not imparted the piety to use them well.”

Upon her twenty-second year, her mother claimed to have had a divine vision whilst she slept. Dol Arrah shined her light upon Millicent, and did bid her to bequeath her sword and armor to the youngest of the Half-Sisters. Her siblings were dubious to say the least, even levying grumbled claims that she somehow must have used elven trickery to befuddle their Mother. But there were those amongst the Order that saw this as an omen.

Finally she would lift her blade against the darkness and seek out a purpose worthy of her talents! Then she spent the next two years drinking and carousing, selling “pardons” on behalf of the Order to fund her misadventures...

Exasperated, the Order at last came to her with a choice. To be stripped of title, position and arms or seek a worthy quest and live up to her family name. She has meditated upon the will of the Goddess and seeks direction... usually at the bottom of a tankard.

Description: With the porcelain perfection shaped by centuries of selective breeding and the highest favors of the Goddess, Millicent is a looker. Mischievous and wild at heart, questionable passions burn behind her eyes. A ruby smirk is perpetually in place, as if with her particularly cavalier charm she dares the world to throw some new amusement or misadventure at her.

Her armor has the signs of once being well used but now is only well maintained, the dents and scuffs of centuries of battles now largely buffed and polished out to suit her vanity. Beneath her impeccable uniform, Milly keeps herself well tended, her form toned from years of holy training and lifting heavy maidens in taverns.

Personality: Despite being lovely, powerful and well spoken, Millicent is not particularly bright. She masks this with fast words and manipulation. It has always been her expectation that though she has the pedigree for greatness, Veluna Stokes or Lyka Stokes or Dessinia Stokes or one of her eight other older sisters within the Order would serve to further the bloodline and family holdings.

With that understanding, Milly has always simply strove for a hedonist life style, paying only lip service to Dol Arrah. A charming but hollow knight of the Goddess for all of her life, it seems that perhaps the Light May have finally found her and Dol Arrah brooks no resistance from her chosen... no matter how slothful and deviant.

Hmmm, I will drop my Paladin of love then, though they could be quite amusing given the company.  They were a Redemption Pali.

Beer Cleric and Kobold Inquisitive are still possible....

So a more fun Vax mixed in with a bit of Scanlan is basically what you're saying.  :P

We DO need a healer of some sort, so a cleric would be well received most likely.  Is there really a Beer Domain for a cleric though?  I mean an actual Domain and not something Homebrewed?  I'm genuinely curious, so don't mistake me.  :D

Huh, wow.  :D  I might have to look into that.  :P

I actually had a cleric from 3.5 edition that was a Sacred Prostitute, worshiping both Corellon Larathain and Sune, first as a cleric, her prestige class being her Sacred Prostitute stuff, a class I got from The Book of Erotic Fantasy.  I never got a chance to really PLAY her as such, but I still have her knocking around in the back of my head.  I almost considered trying to bring her into this, but meh, without making her SP stuff more as a roleplay flavor type of thing, it'd be a very difficult time to convert her 3.5. stuff from an unofficial book into 5e, at least for me it would've been anyway.  It still would've been fun to try though lol.

I love the Beer Domain Channel Divinity: Blessed Brew

Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to transform a container of nonmagical liquid into blessed brew; the number of doses equals 3 + your Wisdom modifier. Any special attributes the liquid previously had are negated. Anyone who imbibes one dose of this brew can choose one of the following benefits: advantage on Charisma-based skill checks, a +1 bonus to AC, or a +1 increase to the DC of saving throws against their castings of enchantment spells. This bonus lasts for 1 hour, leaving a warm buzz behind when it fades. A creature can benefit from only one dose of blessed brew between rests. An hour after creating blessed brew, the liquid turns into tasty, but mundane, beer.

But I can fill in wherever we need.  Cleric, Rogue, could even try a caster.

Lol gonna have to agree with you on that.  Dealing with the fact she has a necromancer of a mother on one side and a vampire for a father on the other, with both of them having joined a fucking cult when she was still a child, Emily has plenty of reasons to get occasionally shitfaced.  A Beer cleric would be perfect, especially since Vecna tried to get her to convert by promising her quite a bit.  An offer she almost considered I might add, although it wasn't for power or any of that.  She just wanted her family back, before her father died that first time and everything went to shit.  Things were good back then, hence her almost consuming rage because she was almost weak enough to give in, although he was a very clear threat of course.

Success!  Seriously though, while that probably won't be mentioned for a while, it IS one of her driving factors working against her in some regards.  She understands why she almost caved to Vecna's promises, which he very well could've kept albeit in a very twisted fashion given the circumstances, but Emily still hates herself and the bastard both for being that weak, even for a moment.  Getting her drunk will allow for some revelations, especially for anyone that knows the Briarwood name.

Considering adapting my wild mage sorceress, assuming she'll fit the setting.  I need to figure out how to do the point by method, instead of using the standard array or rolling, but I'll see if I can't make some progress with it.  She's human, so I'm wondering if I can still use the variant rules, which are offhand I think increase two ability scores by one, and you start with one feat?  Someone correct me if I'm wrong, or our DM can veto the whole thing too.

I wouldn't mind pairing up somehow.  My girl grew up in the orphanage, and was forced to leave when her power showed itself around puberty.  I'm thinking to make things easier on myself, because I can't see the map, of just having her be from Emon, which I'm sure probably has an orphanage, considering how large the city is.  Because of how large the city is, it was easy to just blend into city life after she left.  I'm considering incorporating her existing background of pickpocket, and saying she joined up with the Clasp so she wasn't living on the street, but I'm not sure how easy it would be for her to leave said guild, either to start this particular adventure or at some point in her back story.  I'll give it some thought, and see if I can't come up with something.

That'd work, especially since, while some of the choices are limited without buying a bunch of their books, D&D Beyond has been a pretty amazing tool so far.  It's how I made Emily's stat sheet and all.

Speaking of HP, but if you rolled a 1 in figuring out your maximum, unless Jess says otherwise despite a PM exchange between us earlier today, you should be able to reroll any of your 1s for a better total.  Hopefully she'll make that official when she gets in tomorrow.

I approve of re-rolling ones for HP, and thanks!  I'm with Angie though, in that I'd take the average, just to make things more consistent.   My two online games give everyone max hp per level, but I think that's the exception, rather than the norm.   The average seems like the best choice in your typical case when you level up.

Here's what I have so far:

Personal Information

Name: Tinalia von Grazen
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation/Sexuality: Hasn't quite figured that out yet (will end up preferring ladies, likely)
Age: 19
General Description: Aside from the purple hair, which is all natural, she looks rather lithe, yet there is the faintest hint of muscle beneath the smooth skin. Her body seems to have been built for flexibility. She has quite the exuberant smile. Currently, she wears little more than a threadbare travelling outfit and a backpack, though she hopes to change that soon.

(Also, for the love of God, don't click that image unless you want it computer monitor sized)

Role Play Centered Information

Class: Sorcerer
Level: 3
Alignment: Neutral Good
Character Sheet: https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1722031
Additional Information: The von Grazen family was originally just the 'Grazen' family, her father added the 'von' to make them sound more important. He struck it big as a merchant, and so the added (fake) importance to the name helped him to keep striking it big. They are not particularly well known outside of the few cities her father trades in.

History
Family: The von Grazen family makes their home several miles north of Kymal, but their home has enough agriculture and livestock ranching to support a few merchants like the Grazens. They eat well, but outside of Kymal, where most of their trading is, they are not particularly well known.
Hometown: She has actually not had a place to call home since her powers first manifested, and would love nothing more than to return, but she cannot for certain reasons.
A little about personality: She seems to have an unending wellspring of compassion and optimism in her heart. Even after several encounters with nasty people who might destroy that optimism, she remains firmly in the belief that most people are basically good. However, she will fight if she has too, especially against monsters, but if a creature is willing to talk, she will listen.
General Life Story: Her father pulled the family up, making deals and carrying goods to distant lands, and as such, her childhood was an easy one. They never went hungry, and wanted for little. Despite all this, curious events would befall the young girl. Besides her hair being naturally purple, animals would fall silent around her, even seemingly frightened by her presence. Even some of the people of her hometown seemed to barely tolerate her. Regardless, the young girl learned of many trades, including the art of negotiation from her father.

At 17, her father returned from a routine trip down to Kymal, but soon, a dark sky threatened their little town. Preparations were made, and Samuel, Tinalia's father, planned to return to Kymal as soon as the storm ended to secure goods to rebuild, planning to use his wealth to give back to the ones who had helped him make it. But as the storm was about to reach the town, Tinalia stood alone against the darkened sky, her family calling her to come to shelter, but their words fell against deaf ears. She raised her hands to the sky, and the storm parted-it did not end, it merely went around their town, dousing the surrounding land with heavy rain and thunder, but leaving her town completely untouched. Once the storm had passed, she fainted, and did not awaken for a week.

When she did, she awoke to a town of strangers wearing familiar faces. Even her own family seemed distant, not helped at all by occasional outbursts of magic from her hands. If her family was distant, then those she called her neighbors and friends may as well have not existed. Lost and alone, she decided one night to set out on her own, taking what she could carry. However, she was found almost immediately by Samuel-who made no effort to stop her, only helped her pack, and offered her one final gift: A crystal sphere; an arcane focus for her to shape her new power. "It was given to me by a fortune teller." He said. "Told me that someone close to me would need it soon. I believe now she meant you." With a tear-filled farewell, she made her way into the night, taking the road to Kymal.

Since then, she's had to dodge bandits, kidnappers, cults seeking to add her power to theirs, unscrupulous merchants, pirates, drunkards, more than she cares to admit. Her magic seems naturally adapt at influencing others...or blasting her way out if she has no other option. But the worst opponent she faces is not an angry man with a sword or an undead horde, it is the crushing sense of loneliness. She journeys so that she might understand her powers and return home as a guardian, to no longer be treated as a bomb ready to explode, and her heart longs to return-or failing that, finding a group that could accept her for what she is, and look beyond the fear that her powers seem to inspire in all.

Damn it Angie, it's too early for me to start getting teary eyed!  Ugh lol.   Seriously though, between the song choice and your gal's story, that wasn't bad at all.  :D

I can't get to the Discord yet since I'm stuck on my Kindle until I can get to my computer, but I'm alright with using it as well.  :D

Personal Information

Name: Bubbles Greenbottle
Race: Teifling (Fierna)
Gender: Female
Orientation/Sexuality: Pansexual
Age: 20
General Description: The St. Polly’s Girl of Teiflings though a shorty at 5’ 0” tall.  Bubbles would rather be in skirts, bodice and ruffled blouse than armor.  She likes tantalizing clothing that gets good tips and keeps herself nicely coifed and hygenic.  She always wears her symbol of Ninkash (A small mug that doubles as a tasting cup) around her neck and a tankard on her belt.  Bubbles has lavender skin with darker horns that swoop back and curl up at their tips.

Role Play Centered Information

Class: Cleric of Ninkash, Barley Mother, Maiden of Grapes
Level: 3
Alignment: Neutral Good
Character Sheet: Bubbles Greenbottle
Additional Information: Greenbottle Brewery: Located twenty minutes walk west of town, the Greenbottle Brewery is quietly becoming known as brewing the finest ales this side of the Cliffkeeps. Originally founded by Dox’s Great Grandfather Almose Greenbottle nearly 150 years ago, the Greenbottle brewery is still family owned and operated. The Greenbottle Brewery makes semi-annual trips to the Emon and the towns and villages in between distributing its fine emerald bottled brew. The brewery itself is a large building nestled into the side of Barleyborn Hill and the farmland around it is seemingly made to grow the fine hops and barley used in the ancient family recipe

History

Family: The Greenbottle Family: The Greenbottle’s family has lived in the small town of Amblestock nestled in the foothills of the Cliffkeep Mountains for four generations, having moved there soon after its founding by the Goldfoot clan. A well thought of, if quiet Halfling family, the Greenbottle’s endeared themselves to the Halflings of Amblestock by opening their brewery up every harvest time for a town wide celebration.

Finnigan Greenbottle: Local Brewmeister and husband of Mya, Finnigan Greenbottle runs the Greenbottle Brewery, a family business founded by his Great Grandfather, Almose Greenbottle. Finnigan met his wife Mya on the Greenbottle’s numerous trips into town to supply the Silver Horn Tavern with plenty of the Greenbottle’s home brewed ales. In Finnigan’s youth he was struck with a deep wanderlust and he traveled the length and width of the land. His adventures, which he still tells to kids around the hearth of the Silver Horn on cold winter night, were many, but his heart was always in Amblestock and the pretty young barmaid, Mya Slipfiddle.

Mya Greenbottle: Originally Mya Slipfiddle, Mya is the daughter of Evan Slipfiddle, owner and proprietor of the Silver Horn Tavern. Mya is also an accomplished glassblower and creator of the unique, emerald green bottles used to store Greenbottle Ale. Still a little miffed that Finnigan would name their only daughter Bubbles, she grudgingly admits that in some bizarre way it fits.

The Greenbottle boys:

Almose Greenbottle (Named after his Grandfather) is the eldest child and is following in his father’s footsteps. He will likely take over the family business, when (if) his father retires. Almose is more serious than the rest of his siblings. Not to say he doesn’t have a sense of humor, Almose just takes the family business very seriously.

Finn Greenbottle is the second child and currently a member of the town militia. When not on duty he can be found, like most of the other Greenbottle boys, helping out in the brewery. Finn is fun loving and gregarious.

Mal Greenbottle is the third child and a bit of a lay about and a drunk. The running joke around town is that Mal is the Greenbottle’s personal taster. There is a bit of truth to that as Mal can tell even the subtlest differences in taste and aroma of a batch of ale and just how much of what ingredient is missing.

Patty Greenbottle, the fourth child has shown the same talent with glass that his mother has and is currently her understudy. Patty is the quiet one of the bunch. He spends more time in artistic endeavors than running around town causing trouble.

Perry Greenbottle, the youngest boy, is the terror of the town. While not malicious, he always finds himself getting into trouble, usually with his good friend Jerran Kimblewright.

Molle Slipfiddle: Molle is the Daughter of Meegan Slipfiddle and cousin to the Greenbottles. Molle is a serving girl at her Grandfathers tavern where her mother is the cook and her dad, a handyman. Incredibly cute Molle recently had a crush on local rogue Jerran Kimble, until he broke her heart by going out with Sif Goldfoot, one of the Goldfoot sisters. Molle and Dox have been more like sisters than cousins and can usually be seen at the Silver Horn flirting with the local boys (and girls).

Meegan Slipfiddle: Mother of Molle, wife of Ludo, daughter to Evan and sister to Mya Greenbottle. Meegan is the current cook of the Silver Horn.

Ludo Slipfiddle: Father of Molle, husband of Meegan and son-in-law to Evan. Ludo is the current handyman of the Silver Horn. Ludo was a traveling salesman and orphan. Meegan and Ludo fell instantly in love and when he asked for her hand in marriage, he took her last name so that the Slipfiddle name could live on.

Hometown: Bubbles left Amblestock and currently resides in Emon where she has been helping rebuild.
A little about personality: Bubbles if as effervescent as her name.  She is friendly and outgoing and loves to talk over a good ale.  She has bounced from place to place the last decade learning as much as she can about the brews of different cultures such as Frostberry Port from Lyrengorn, Fyrebelly Stout from Kraghammer and Goliath Grog to name but a few.  Still nothing beats a Greenbottle Ale.  Bubbles often finds work as a barmaid or tavern wench when she isn’t employed by a local brewery. Bubbles is flirty and forward with men and women but won’t put up with unwanted attentions.  In her travels she had heard of a creature called an Alehouse Drake and would love to meet one someday.
General Life Story: Bubbles was abandoned as a baby and left for dead.  It was only luck that she was found by Finnigan and Mya Greenbottle on one of their annual trips to Emon.  Mya already with four rambunctious boys had always wanted a daughter and insisted that they keep the foundling as their own.  Finnigan a kind-hearted man agreed in spite of the girl’s clearly devilish features.  Bubbles, so named by Finnigan much to Mya’s chagrin, grew up happy and accepted by her family even if she was looked upon somewhat suspiciously by the Amblestockians at first.
The Greenbottle Brewery was a wonderful place to grow up in.  The work was hard but rewarding and Finnigan and Mya were caring parents who loved Amblestock and appreciated the craft they made their livelihood. This appreciation they passed on to their adopted daughter.  Bubbles took to keeping the small family shrine to Ninkash, The Barley Mother and did her chores and got into trouble like all kids do.

As a teenager she started working at the Silverhorn tavern with her cousin Molle when she wasn’t helping out at the Brewery.  She and Molle got into no end of shenanigans together and quickly earned a reputation as troublemakers of the best kind.  It was during this period that Bubbles began to feel her differences from the Halflings of Amblestock keenly.  This had nothing to do with the people themselves.  Amblestockians had accepted Bubbles as one of their own, but internally Bubbles felt isolated and lonely.  The Brewery would go to her eldest brother Almose and the Silverhorn to Molle and Bubbles was uncertain where she would fit in.  Bubbles took to visiting the family shrine more and more.  It always brought back good feelings of her childhood hiding in the barely fields. Watching and listening to her father talk to the brewmeister and haggle with traveling merchants and seeing her mother blow the delicate green glass bottles that had become synonymous with Greenbottle Ale.

Bubbles melancholy had not gone unnoticed by her parents and with Mya’s encouragement Bubbles father decided to take her on his next trip to Emon.  The experience was an enlightenment for Bubbles.  The wide-eyed Teifling had never understood the diversity of people and cultures in the world.  She assisted her father as he delivered his well-received ale to Tavern’s through-out the city and met with friends and colleagues of all stripes.  Bubbles was amazed and when she returned to Amblestock could not stop talking about the things she had seen.

She went to the family shrine late that night unable to sleep and told the Goddess all about her experience, the sites she saw, the people she met and the drinks she had imbibed.  The family shine began to glow softly and the motherly voice of Ninkash filled her. “You are welcome daughter.”  It was the Goddess who had planted the idea in her mother about the trip. “There are so many things to learn.  So many recipes my bounty provides.”  Ninkash had been their listening to Bubbles all those nights as she yearned to find herself in the world. “You have learned all you can here, daughter, but there is so much more to know.  If you wish it, you may be my voice.  Travel, experience, learn.  I am a humble, joyous deity, my daughter. Find me in world and be happy.  Let the tavern, winery and brew be your home.  The barkeep, wench and patron your family.  You will be happy here if you wish to stay.  Your parents are good people.  I offer you a place among all people if you wish to take it.  Find me in the world and rejoice.”  The voice was gone and glowing softly on the shrine was a small tankard on a silver chain.  A gift from both her mothers.  Bubbles slipped the holy symbol about her neck and felt truly home.

After that first trip Bubbles took another with her father and another and eventually she was making the trip to Emon and other areas all on her own.  Within half a decade she had given a tearful goodbye to Amblestock and her family and began to travel Tal’dorei seeking out how others worshipped Ninkash, even if they did not know it.  She has been gathering recipes and learning the fermentation techniques of the people of Tal’dorei for the last decade often returning to Amblestock to visit family and friends.  Recently she has settled in Emon and began to help with the recovery efforts, offering her blessed libations to the workers and people of the city and spreading the good drink of Ninkash to all that will have it.

Hah.  Yeah everyone usually goes shitty childhood.  I thought I would mix it up a bit.  Of course that leaves a huge hook for Jess to fuck with her family and hometown.

I used to play Rogues and Rangers a lot.  Not so much anymore.  Mostly because usually rogues are taken right away.

Just so everyone's aware moving forward, I talked to the GM, and I'm thinking of having Emily eventually multi-class into being a Hexblade Warlock with a pact with the Raven Queen's Champion.  For those that don't know who that is, I won't say here for fear of spoiling it, but I'm definitely looking forward to it.  ;D  Still, just wanted to let you all know even though it won't be for a while most likely, once certain things happen for her and she starts truly looking for answers, maybe nearly losing her faith, something along those lines at least.

OHRIGHT, i forget we get two characters!

A lot of people like to just run 1. Which is normal. But in this caseI'm allowing two because I think it would be very dynamic.

I myself have played a multitude of spellcasters. Cleric, druid, wizard. Oh and a ranger at some point.

Vergil1989

I see you've put up a character of your own Jess.  While I'm not against it by any means, I have heard a couple stories where DMs have done so in other games just so they can get the best loot and supplies for themselves, among other things.  While I'm sure that's not going to be happening here, I'm sure you can understand my caution all the same.  :D

That aside, I've VERY briefly played a cleric who had a prestige class from an unofficial source book called The Book of Erotic Fantasy.  I don't think I've told this story here, but my Sacred Prostitute gal is one of my oldest characters I've ever written for.

Not to worry, thats only an NPC. I put it there for my own reference for when the group meets her. I also find having NPCin a central location is helpful for players, makes it easier to remember and not have to take a whole boat load of notes.

If it helps I can create another thread for NPC characters.

Personal Information

Name: Gaz the Lionslayer
Race: Goblin
Gender: Female
Orientation/Sexuality: ...Is not really a thing Gaz thinks about all that much. Goblin sex is basically just a means of producing smaller goblins. Tall Stupids seem to worry about it an awful lot though, so maybe it's something important?
Age: 19...ish? More years than she has fingers.
General Description: The first thing most people notice about Gaz is that, of course, she's a goblin. She stands an even three feet tall, with green skin, red cat-slitted eyes, bucked teeth, and over sized pointed ears that looks like they've been bitten more than once. But even for a goblin, she seems scrawny; her body has the slenderness of early undernourishment, paired with the rangy toughness of hard living. What can be seen of her body - and since she mostly just wears the simplest clothing, that's a fair bit - is lined with wiry muscle. Cresting her head is a thick mop of hair the color of a ripe olive, stuck through with a few pigeon feathers. Draped around her shoulder and hips are strips of white-and-grey tabby-striped cat fur, paired with the animal's tail worn as a trophy on her own backside. The animal left its mark in some claw scars on her cheek. Despite what most would assume, she's very clean, her green hide smooth and washed as often as she can manage. Worn at her back is a heavy warhammer of obvious dwarven make, and a few feathered javelins that seem homemade.

Role Play Centered Information

Class: Barbarian
Level: 3
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Character Sheet: https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1723395
Additional Information: • Stabface Squidface is still alive, and might be annoyed that his favorite "gladiator" has run off with the Tall Stupids that stomped his tribe. For that matter Big Chief Muckstump is probably still out there somewhere too, feeling all smart.
• Gaz has been discovering there may be depth to her constant anger; she's chosen by spirits to be a conduit for their anger. The one that speaks loudest to her wants her to jump, to claw and bite, and dart away; a sage warrior taught her that this is the "way of the Tiger" like a big version of the "lion" she killed, but part of her thinks it might actually be a Frogshark.
• She was rescued from a trap by a party of adventurers; maybe you know them! The wound from the trap still bothers her, though she'd never say so
• Her most precious possession - aside from the pelt of the "lion' she killed - is her hammer; she doesn't like to talk about where it came from. Sometimes she talks to the hammer, though.
• At times she will pretend to not know common. She's full of lies.

History
Family: The Muckstump tribe of goblins still exists somewhere in the K'tawl swamp. Unless they all got eaten by frogsharks or whatever.
Hometown: Stilben... sort of? She's not from there, but she's been there, and found the place somewhat to her liking.
A little about personality: Gaz is full of angry. And she believes that "giving her angry away" makes her feel better. She's not a hostile little monster; she's lived long enough (somehow) to know how to temper her expressions of angry. But she is prone to casual vandalism, pushing people's easy buttons, and getting into shouting matches with dogs and sheep (but not goats, because goats are awesome.) Gaz is chattery, fidgety, and squirms a lot. She has a difficult time trusting others after being "betrayed" by her tribe. Nevertheless, she understands that working with these tall mutant monsters is more beneficial to her than running around in the swamp ever was. Some of them could even be these "fur-en-duhs" things she's heard about. She's bad with names and tends to appellate people with "-face" if she can't remember their name exactly. Underneath the angry, jittery, green jerky muscle exterior though, there's something else, something Gaz is only just starting to understand and explore - the origins of her anger...
General Life Story: Gaz originally hails from the Muckstump tribe of goblins somewhere in the K'Tawl swamp. She wasn't well-liked by her fellows, because she was always angry, and worse, she was good at being angry. A runt of the litter, she had to be angry (and a lot to be angry about) in order to get even a little food. Kicking, biting, scratching, and punching were good ways to communicate among the Muckstump, and soon, Big Chief Muckstump noticed, and promised her extra portions if she would be his bodyguard. All she had to do was hold this big hammer, look important, and stand outside his hut. What a good job!

She never asked why she never saw Big Chief Muckstump again. She was too busy with the Squidface attack on the Muckstumps! Bigger, stronger goblins from a place in the swamp with actual food and good water and loot to pillage. Gaz and the rest of her tribe fought back, but the Squidfaces were too many, too strong, and they ended up killing half the tribe, and enslaving most of the rest, including Gaz.

For a good year and a half, she was used by the tribe of Stabface Squidface for labor and for entertainment; the angry, scrappy little goblin often found herself knee-deep in the eelpits, facing off against Unusually Large Toads, Killer Eat-Me-Fish, and of course Bad Eats-Goblins-Toomanyfuckinglegs. At least, when it wasn't goblins Big Chief Stabface didn't like getting tossed in there. She didn't like to fight them like this, just so some fat Stupidface could laugh, but if she didn't, Witchmaker Gurglepus had all sorts of awful spells he could use on her to make her sorry for it.

Salvation, as it was, came at the hands of Tall Stupids. The Squidface tribe had bothered the Tall stupids a little too much, and they came for payback, with long swords and strong spells; the Squidfaces put up a good fight, at least until the pig pens got busted and some of the wood fell into the slave pits. The Tall Stupids just kept swinging, and Gaz had to run.

She made it for a good two days until she found the trap in the woods. An old snare that some hunter had forgotten cinched around her leg, and yanked her into the air. For a good while she fought against it, until her weakened state from the slavery, and the running, and the blood loss (except for what was rushing into her head now) made her pass out.

She woke up in strange company; the same Tall Stupids who had attacked the Squidfaces! They'd taken the precaution of tying her hands, but her leg was in no condition for running, so she had to tolerate them. Apparently on their return trip they had found her and took pity on the poor goblin (sniffle) - Brent Bearface (that was his name, Gaz is sure of it) asserted that it was too stupid a way to die for him to allow it. Thanks Brent.

These Tall Stupids were willing to share thier food and help her with her leg, so she decided that they might be okay (also stupid, and too tall, but hey, food.) So Gaz decided to travel with them for a time...

("Brent Bearface" or someone else in the "rescue party" can easily be a PC, giving Gaz a quick tie-in to the group through that way.)

On the off chance Emily dies or becomes unavailable for a while, this is my backup character.  Hopefully she meets with approval, although I DO need to add in something for the teacher she was encouraged by at the Alabaster Lyceum.  I don't know what race or even his name is currently, so ideas are welcome at the moment.   :-[

Personal Information

Name:  Gamora of the Herd of Storms
Race:  Goliath
Gender:  Female
Orientation/Sexuality:  Bisexual  (Virgin)
Age:  20
General Description:  Like any goliath, Gamora is tall and broad shouldered, packed with muscles to spare from the neck down.  While she's not Grog Strongjaw strong, not by a longshot, she's still strong enough to be a worthy challenge to anyone who'd dare to fight her hand to hand.  What she lacks for strength however, she more than makes up for in other areas with a deep intelligence behind her pale, gold flecked brown eyes.  Dark black hair runs down her back in a single long, twisting braid, with the typical goliath tribal markings adorning most of her gray flesh.  Preferring to wear simple clothes and the like, things that will last the long roads that yet await her before her journey is through, she can often be found in simple leather jerkins and long leather pants, but she also likes the bright colors that people from the desert plain of Marquet seem to favor, having been their briefly to help Kaylie with some trouble she was having with the criminal underworld during her last visit.  As such, she keeps a long, purple sash that she keeps tied around her waist, with a matching length of cloth that tends to dangle from her belt almost like a cape, with a deep red silk jacket adorning her broad shoulders, embroidered in gold dragon like thread along its back and sleeves.

Role Play Centered Information

Class: Bard from the College of Lore
Level: 3rd Level (currently)
Alignment:  Chaotic Good
Character Sheet:  Gamora of the Herd of Storms
Additional Information:  One of her closest friends from her days at the Lyceum college is Kaylie Shorthalt, the daughter to Scanlan Shorthalt himself, one of the most powerful bards to ever walk the surface of Exandria, and one of the members of Vox Machina to boot, the same group responsible for bringing down Vecna.  As such, if Kaylie ever calls, Gamora would answer without a second thought.  Despite many in your typical goliath herd not knowing who their parents are, things have changed since Kevdak was brought down by Grog.  While she too doesn't know who her parents are exactly, Gamora still has 'family' in the herd, people that she'd aid if they should ever need it.  Unfortunately, many think her too civilized, too 'cultured' to be considered a true goliath anymore, but many of those people supported Kevdak during his ruinous alliance with the Chroma Conclave, so their voices are often ignored as a whole.  That's not to say they aren't still heard though....

History
Family:  Nalpu Wisebearer - While she's still uncertain if she was Gamora's mother, Nalpu nurtured the young goliath's love for lore and the nature of the world outside of the Herd of Storms to the best of her ability.  Unfortunately, Umbrysal devoured her with several others of the Herd of Storms in 'tribute' for an alliance with the dreaded black dragon that Kevdak had sworn to serve.  She's thought about trying to find her spirit and asking the wise old woman if she was her real mother though....
Shaun Gilmore - It's strange the people you meet when you get lost in a big city, which used to happen quite a bit to Gamora upon her initial arrival to the place at sixteen.  Whether by fate or chance, Gamora found herself in the merchant mage's company, and it was through his aid and his friendship that she was able to attend the Alabaster Lyceum.  It helped he often said she reminded him of another goliath he had the great fortune of calling a good friend.
Kaylie Shorthalt - They were both considered 'outcasts' from those in the Alabaster Lyceum, since they both had come from 'nothing' as far as the rich snobs from prestigious families were concerned that populated its halls.  Even so, Gamora was all too happy to have a friend in the halfling woman who had such an inspiration in her father, Scanlan, a literal god slayer.  Needless to say, Gamora and Kaylie became fast friends, she providing far more than muscle to Kaylie, who needed very little in the way of protection given her own prodigious skills with the same magic she sought to understand.  While they have since gone their separate ways, both have promised to keep in touch, no matter where they end up.
Samuel Kwill - Samuel was a teacher in the Alabaster Lyceum, who encouraged Gamora and tutored her when she had had a little trouble with keeping up with the rest of her classmates due to her far humbler beginnings.  Despite her handicap that she soon surpassed, he saw great potential in her, and even initiated her into Ioun's following, showing her the Knowing Mistress's way which she took to with aplomb.  He however disappeared, leaving a mostly illegible letter and a question for Gamora to unravel....
Hometown:  She considers the city of Westruun her home despite what her people did there during the Conclave's reign of terror.
A little about personality:  She was always different from most of her fellow Herd members in that she was never content to simply fuck and fight and roam around the world.  Like Grog Strongjaw not long after she was born, she didn't have it in her to stomp on the weak and defenseless, but she didn't have his courage to stand up to Kevdak, the Thunderlord either.  That all changed however when the woman that had taken the most interest in her, which Gamora called her mother even though it was hard to say if that was the truth, was killed by Umbrasyl in 'tribute' for the herd's subservience, something Kevdak happily boasted about allying them successfully with one of the Chroma Conclave with so few of their number lost in the process.  As such, she has an understandably deep hatred for dragons as a whole, while she is....uncomfortable around dragonborn due to their draconic appearances.  She is however driven to understand the world and its various peoples, to the point she has been known to take notes at inopportune moments about the things she's observed in people's behaviors and actions.  It's not uncommon at all to see her sitting in a corner, quietly observing the various goings on of the world around her.  And despite her giant nature, she loves children and loves to tell them stories and sing songs to brighten and lift their spirits.  She is a gentle giant, but rouse her to anger, and you'd best get out of her way as she brings down the wrath of her voice and bardic magic on any who would harm those weaker than themselves.
General Life Story:  Life among the Herd of Storms was about what you'd expect with any roaming bands of goliaths that aren't content to settle in one spot for too long.  She was alive when Kevdak rose to power within the Herd, and it was around this time that things started to get quite rough for anyone who didn't agree with him.  Gamora, even in those years when she was far younger, knew better than to draw attention to herself, content to listen to Nalpu's stories of the world she'd seen more of than most of the others could ever imagine.  How Nalpu had gotten herself mixed up with the Storm Herd, Gamora never found out, but she suspects to this day that her old tribe had been killed, leaving her and a few others to be absorbed by theirs.  Whatever the case, life wasn't ideal, especially when Grog was beaten and left for dead by Kevdak, but it was what she knew, and while she didn't like it, she didn't have the strength to leave despite being about average for your typical goliath in such terms.  She did however have a natural gift for words and fine details, remembering far more than most with very little effort, something that got her into a fair bit of trouble in its own right since Kevdak and his followers weren't big on learning anything beyond how best to kill various creatures, or each other.  Displaying her above average intelligence was often a good way to get herself punched depending on who was around at that particular moment, so she learned to simply keep her mouth shut and observe the world.  Attention soon wavered and eventually fell off entirely not long after she learned better, and life became at least bearable.  It wasn't to last.

She was fourteen when the Chroma Conclave rose to power over most of Tal'Dorei.  It was shortly after that, that her mother figure, Nalpu, was killed by the black dread himself, Umbrysal.  Gamora didn't fight Kevdak, she wanted to, but she was far from strong enough to do it, and she had no support in any event to try and take him down.  As such, with nothing keeping her there, Gamora left the Herd, making for Westruun not long after Grog returned, driving most of the Herd out of the city they had previously occupied.  Despite an understandably chilly reception, she spent some time there helping the people to rebuild, and while many still gave her odd looks when she asked to see their library in town, she was allowed to explore the place.  It was just as well, because she found out quickly, once she learned how to actually read, that she had a natural talent for more than pretty words as she began to learn to harness her bardic abilities.  From there, it was a simple thing to make her way to Emon, to learn at the best bardic college she could find, but it turned out she had nothing close to enough coin to get in through the front doors.  Enter Shaun Gilmore, who she quickly befriended and aided for several months, doing odd jobs, slaying monsters, and learning through experience just what she was capable of.  Between his patronage and her own determination, Gamora soon found herself among the company of one Kaylie Shorthalt, who she still Messages to this day despite them having gone their separate ways a few years ago now once they'd left the Lyceum together.  It was also here that she found a mysterious letter from one of her teachers, asking a question she's hoping to find an answer to, specifically what had happened to the old man.  As for the letter, most of it had been illegible, save for a question.

"How does one become a god?"

Having found her way as far as Marquet on business with Kaylie, Gamora has seen so much more of the world than most of her old Herd put together, and while she has a long way to go before she'd consider herself strong enough to make a real difference in the world, she's determined and skilled enough to see her dreams a reality.  She's also hoping to find the author of the letter she'd found, as well as any answers as to why he had disappeared, partially because she hates leaving a mystery unsolved, mostly because he had done a lot to help her get to where she is now, having believed in her and encouraged her growth as a bard of the college of lore.  Wherever her travels take her, this much will remain unchanged.  She will sing and fight her way to glory, not for the Herd of Storms that ultimately let her down, but for herself.

In writing, a flaw is not the interesting part of a character.  What is interesting is how a person overcomes a flaw.  I want to read how a person overcomes a flaw, not how the flaw overcomes the person.

It's up to Jess honestly, but she hasn't been around for a couple days.  Hopefully it's just her being busy with RL related stuff, but we haven't heard from her either so I can't say what's going on.  Hopefully she's only just busy with her job or school or whatever though.  Still, you might be in luck, you never know.  :D
