Jaded, perhaps you could make her the night manager?
That fill the same 'in charge but not in charge of everything role and keeps you around the hotel at the same time as kckoble. Plus, you know, horror stories always take place at night.

That works.  She can be the night manager instead of the assistant manager.

Looks great, Roo.  So far an investigator, a night watchman, and a hotel manager.  Pretty conceivable group, easy enough to tie together.
