Crash Landings (Pathfinder, scifi-fantasy mix up. Anthromorphs and etc kinks)

Time for another attempt at this awesome game idea of mine. Basically put, the crew, all of you, are human bounty hunters or what ever, and crash land on a planet that is filled with civilizations of different anthromorphs. Catfolk, wolf folk, bunny girl monk clans, etc etc. So you'll have to try to repair your ship while dealing with the locals, whom can use magicks, something that none of you have had any experience with.

This is where I have to mod Pathfinder a tad to get it to work for all of you. Since you are the sci-fi part of the mashup, stuff like wizard and spells and magical items are unknown to you from the start. Classes will have to be limited to stuff that makes sense: fighter, rogue, and gunslinger would be the main three. Those three wouldn't need much of any changes to make them work in a sci-fi environment, as I would just give them blaster proficiency. Knowledge engineering would also be a trained skill for these three, since you would all be somewhat capable of engineering and repairing the ship.

Certain magical items can be made into high tech without any problems. Magical arms and armor can be done easily, as they can just be higher tech or cybernetic to explain their powers. This would have to be discussed on a case by case basis to determine what works with your own ideas.

Starting rules:

-Level 6 and at starting gold.
-Try to limit it to 3-4 people. Need a captain, engineer, pilot, and medical.
-Only human as a race.
-Maybe only people from the west coast or something. I just hate waiting a whole day for one post rotation, just because we are all over the road. That would be ideal but hardly a requirement.
-If you have your own ideas of how to change the PF rules for your character concept, just tell me. We can hash it out easily.

I say medic in the sense that someone invests a lot into the heal skill and stocks up on medkits (cure potions).

Think Star Trek and the medical personnel. You'll just also be shooting things on occasion and plenty of screaming for everyone involved.

Mmm, I'm thinking a Gunslinger engineer who's not overtly cocky, yet definitely lecherous and mischievous. When he sees a pretty girl he'll definitely start thinking about how to trick her into bed and have all kinds of perverted fun with her.

The cat girl will remind her of her deceased childhood cat, the only one who provided her companionship as a child. Mariko will become obsessed with making it her love slave, her past trauma driving her to make it happen.

Okay I have an idea. I'd like to play... a wizard. (Wait for it, don't rule it out just yet.) There is an archetype called Spellslinger, which gives a wizard gun proficiency and allows him to route spells through his gun. I would take only thematically appropriate spells, and to flavor them they would be different ammunitions or gun settings. Ray of Exhaustion? Why that's a "Stun Beam". Scorching Ray? "Fire Ammo." It would make for a good ship's engineer, someone smart enough to craft all these different ammunitions or modify their weapon in such a way, and crazy enough to do it to boot.

If that's too far out of the box, what about the Tinker 3rd party class? After all, Lost in Space had a boy and his robot. Who wouldn't want HK-47 around like in KotOR? "Why yes, I'll get right on that meatbag, I mean master."

Tinker looks quite sci-fi class. But Nicci decides. Anyways I could think barbarian class would also work (think a hot headed mercenary with cyborg parts). The more supernatural or weirder rage powers could be banned. Also from eberron Artificer could fit role as engineer (modifying exchisting tech items with new tech).

Also there is Machinesmith (a quite like artificer but it looks like class who 'craft items which function like spells'). Also there is monk archtype called martial artist which gives up all the 'ki stuff' and simply becomes a 'pro fist figther' type of guy. Also figther has archtype which I recall focused on unarmed combat. Also there is few ranger archtypes (trapper example) which give up spellcasting ability (and ranger is most ideal class to be bountyhunter anyways, ofc favored enemies need be suitable to sci-fi and can apply to fantasy stuff with a stretch).

Anyways, besides above questions answered I may take up position as a captain and may pick a figther with a blaster (or a non-spellcasting ranger archtype, probably skirmisher).

Yeah I liked the machinesmith class also. I just... I'm very interested in playing (I'd even love to be a "local" who gets recruited), but I'm also a strong lover of magics / magitech. I was trying to see if there was a class that got like a channel / lay on hands ability (or witch's healing hex) without an abundance of other spellcasting. Cause having a 1d6 healer on demand would be good. Like a dermal regenerator from DS9 or whatever.

Well, I didn't think anyone else would pick up the Engineer role, but it seems a machinesmith or tinker would fit that role better, so I'm okay with being the rogueish pilot.

Yeah I don't like the machinesmith. Zaer had it right, as it would be good to be a ranger variant without spellcasting. I don't think there is one in pathfinder, as I could go check...

All right, as a last ditch effort to have someone with some method of preventing horrible death, what about a Chirurgeon Alchemist Ship's Doctor? Think like a Juicer from rifts, someone who puts dangerous chemicals into his body for effects, throws them about for funzies, but can also prepare restorative draughts to save his allies from the brink of horrible annihilation and permanent death.

Ok, I make trapper ranger archtype variant then (skirmish is also good as it gives non-magical tricks instead traps). But trapper sounds good for bountyhunting business.

Now question; rangers get favored enemy class feature. So my question is are there 'aliens' from sci-fi setting where band comes from or are catgirls first 'aliens' humans have ever encountered (was honestly thinking favored enemy: Alien Scum). Besides +2 or +4 bonus vs humans. Of course alternatively I could take both trapper and freebooter archtypes (as freeboter does not affect spellcasting stuff and trapper only affects spellcasting stuff). Freebooter is 'space pirate' idea although quicker swim speed instead quicker terrain travel makes no sense (if not want add that while piloting a ship my guy can cruise through obstacles without reduction in speed and no penalties).

Seeing Yugi aims for investigator rogue and from tone of posts his char may be captain (or second in charge? As he spoke about keeping crew in line). So my guy can be captain or second in charge type of guy.

Yeah, my guy takes the 'tough veteran' outlook. Have spoken several times retiring but he has spoken about retiring past ten years (so nobody who has been in group any length of time and all crazy shit situations take him seriously).

Sergeant Malcolm Callahan ("Mal" to his friends). Junior Sergeant aboard the (whatever pirate or bounty ship we're on). While decently wieldy with a blaster, he much prefers to be in-your-face and take down foes up and personal. A bit of a Japanese wrestling junkie, he watches old holovids in his room during his spare time, especially taking pleasure when rope bondage mixes with the wrestling. Hrmm, I can go Engineer or Pilot--though Engineer would probably fit better than hot-shot pilot. If Dracorian goes Engineer in the end, I'll just need to switch my points from Knowledge (Engineering) to Profession (Pilot), but I figure RAGE would help tighten those loose, stubborn screws in real tight :-D

For when you absolutely have to charge through blaster fire and heavy weapons and then smash down a reenforced door to get to your prey.

On that note would a modified Aegis be out of the question? I'm thinking power armor and nanotech and he just can't summon or dismiss it. Thoughts?

I wanted to know what you thought of the Gun Tank alternate class feature of Gunslinger? Appropriately Teched up of course.

Also what are the stats and costs for blasters? Not sure how to convert them.

I presume the blasters have same stats as 'medieval' equivalent in pathfinder. Crossbows can be directly converted (including that you can fire off 1 shot per round unless having quick reload re-flavored) while longbow should be somekind blaster sniper rifle (and shortbow somekind assault rifle as you can fire off more than one shot with it in full round action).

Same deal with guns suppose.

This makes sense and all but it lacks both DM confirmation and fails to address little things like clip size, damage, range, reloading time and cost of both gun and ammunition. Hey, some of us prefer punchin' others in the shnozz over screwing around with unwieldy blasters :-P

First I would point out that the Guns Everywhere rules do reduce all gun and ammo prices to 10% of list price. That's still quite a chunk of change but an updated 'Guns Prominent' rule set could reduce that further... after all 1% of 4000gp is still 40gp, and that would be the cheapest advanced gun. Since modern day firearms run from $20 to $3000 and a modern meal costs about $10 while a common Pathfinder meal costs 3sp... A basic weapon would run you about 1gp while something intended as your primary firearm should probably be between 10-30gp tops. For a heavy weapon.

Still here and interested, just haven't got time to type down my char but so far planning to be ranger with trapper and freebooter archtypes (plan use blaster somekind and shot on the run approach). Use the pic with guy with eye patch and nazi suit and plan play him out as chauvinist captain (so any female crew must have proven themselves to be far above average in their field of specialization in the crew than any male candidate). A kind of leader type thanks freebooter abilities give ranger 'leadership' abilities. Although not sure is the 7th level replacement making any sense in sci-fi setting (it would either remain same or related to ignore difficult terrain in ship/urban environment or zero-G gravity penalties for being experienced 'space raider').

Well, considering your char haves a 'meek' personality and my char is chauvinistic with idea that male gender is superior to women.....so question is how they have worked their working relationship and why my guy is content sit as second in command :P. I could imagine he would be more active as a leader (he's kind aggressive sort) while he lets you namely hold the command. Also he may have likely often questioned your commands but most of the time he obeys them to letter.

I was thinking of it being the relationship where your character thinks of a brutal plan, resulting my character always needing to explain the flaws in it after facepalming, soon explaining one that is more efficient and requires less bloodshed. (Sorry if it sounds as if I'm belittling your character.....)

Sounds ok to me, I intent my guy to be kind of 'raiding space nazi' with chauvinistic attitude. He may at times jab his superior about being 'too soft' for her job just because she is a woman (and women are default softies). Not intending him to be asshole second command, but clearly one who has no trouble be brutal and efficient and thinks low about most women.

Also part of his obedience can be gratitude as he was wanted criminal from his home world and your ship helped him escape and he has no place to go so he sticks around and accepts your command so long he needs place to stay.
