Sounds rather interesting, but I'd like to know if you have any plot ideas or would it be game quest based?

For the most part game quest but for the sake of adding more to it smaller mini quests can be added inbetween the major parts i.e many big battles in the civil war, more assasinations and when i actualy learn more about it i'll get some dawnguard involved.

Steamdriver

Count me in, though i don't have dawnguard.

How powerful will the characters be? I have a sweet tooth for Skyrim right now but I am not too fond of the epic scales most put in their RPs but would rather have something where you have a few strengths and have to rely on the others for support in other fields.

I'm curious about the levels our characters would be to.

Well here's my take until I get more info anyway.

Name: Blind-Eye
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Race: Argonian
Hometown: Gideon, Black March
Faction: None

Skills: Heavy Armor, Smithing, Enchantment (going for an classic Skyrim unarmed brawler, who additionally can help the others with their equipment out of battle.)

Character power will be more realalistic, dragons will need team efforts to kill ect, everyone will be at a constant level of equil power, a few more people and were good to go.

Wargtass

What sort of gameplay are we looking at? What's the ratio of combat and social interactions? And if you want more than six players it could be good to split the complete mass into two groups that can meet up occasionally. Also it could be practical to have some simple skill system to show what direction you are taking your character. Like chose three skills to excel at or such.

azzmeister89

For character skills io dont want to make it game like. I'm trusting you all to be smart about it and keep things realistic so have your characters good at some things, ok at others and terrible at some too, then as they learn things they just get better.

Wargtass

I was thinking more in a sense that we don't suddenly have three restoration mages running circles around the dragon healing each other. The system would be more to show what our characters are good at so that we don't end up with a cluster-feth of the same classes.

azzmeister89

Well i was planning on restricting magic in a sense as well, healing works on only the caster. Again though i trust you all to be sensible and grown up about it all

Still not what I was hinting at. It's more a way to show the other players what kind of class you are going for so that they don't go and do the exact same thing. Picking three skills to excel at shows what sort of character you are going for. Example:

Five players make a character each. The first three choose the following.

One-Handed, Light Armor, Sneak - an assassin.
Pickpocket, Lockpicking, Sneak - a thief.
Two-Handed, Heavy Armor, Block - a warrior

The two remaining look at how the group looks and choose the following.

Restoration, Destruction, Alteration - a mage
Archery, Light Armor, Illusion - an archer or hunter.

Following this easy method the group have a good dynamic, each tending to some of the other's shortcomings. Of course it is also up to discussions, since some players might have a very definitive image of their character (as I do). It has nothing to do with game mechanics, it's just an easy way to build an interesting group where no one needs to feel like a fifth wheel and even create some interesting dialogue between the characters.

Also restricting restoration in that way wouldn't be all that swell. The fact that a mage can heal the others while they fight is a bit of the point with restoration as well as making the recoup from a broken bone a lot shorter.

That does make sense, we can do that your way although characters can gradualy improve there skills as time goes on and they practise.

Xanthaine

I was thinking of going for more of a thief archetype, but that was just my plan. Maybe people should pick five skills, three major and two minor, and build your character around that.

For example, ideally Zaeliik would have Sneak, Pickpocket and Lockpick as major skills and Light Armor and Speech as minor skills, for the thief idea.

A warrior could be say... Major: two handed, block, Heavy Armor and minor: one handed and archery as minor. And so on.

Just a thought.

azzmeister89

that also works, we'll work it out after we get a few more.

Steamdriver

Morganna Blackwood's class and skills, Spell sword, major skills are one handed, alteration (mainly mage armor spells) and destruction. Minor skills are restoration (primarily ward spells) and illusion (light and silencing spells)

Blind-Eye is an unarmed brawler and craftsman. Majoring in Heavy Armor, Smithing and Enchanting. Got minors in Sneak and Alchemy.

Actually with six players and three majors we would be able to cover all skills between each other. So if we want any more players we might have to either lower the number of majors or split the total group into two, as previously mentioned.

mix and matching skills is also possible, so three characters could share a single skill but be totaly different.

Steamdriver

I agree with Azzmeister. Say two characters have one handed as a major, unless they trained together their whole lives their personal fighting style would be very different. same can be said for any skill really, especially the schools of magic.
