Shoujo High; Tokyo Girl's School

"Shoujo High" is based directly on Jadeling's game "Hanjuku High" (I even stole chunks of his post that sets the scene because I was thinking 'It's perfect. Why didn't I do this?') and I have taken his idea directly because it was so good and because I wanted to play in it. Unfortunately I do not enjoy cross-gender play and since Jadeling wanted that in his game I decided with his full permission and support to set up my own game on exactly the same premise but this will be for female players only, playing female characters. Shoujo High is a small private girls academy somewhere in the south Tokyo suburbs just inside Kawasaki Prefecture. Most of its students come from the metropolitan region around the capital but others have sought places here from further afield. All characters are Japanese and aged 16 to 19 and will either know each other at the beginning of the game, as they share the dormitory building, or will come to know each other over time as newcomers ask to share the dorm building and move in.

The game is going to concentrate on one dormitory building or boarding house, which I'll call "Cherry Tree House" common in anime and manga where a group of students have individual rooms in a converted 1960s-1970s large family house. They pool their money together for rent, utilities and food and share the cooking and cleaning. There is just one shared family sized bathroom the girls communally use... The dorm will be a couple of train stations down the line from school.
The school functions much as any other school, offering high-quality education in all the usual subjects as well as offering private tuition in some classes that aren't generally taught at other schools such as philosophy, engineering and advanced languages. In fact, in this game, school life - or at least the education side of it - will not be that important. Scenes will take place in school or on the way to/from but I do not plan any organised class scenes and there is no scope in the game for teacher characters unless someone can come up with a very good reason for one. I hope that a big chunk of the gameplay will take place in the girls home, or outside around town.
For some reason this school hits all the traditional yuri clichés. Not openly, and not to the extent where every girl is involved. Many students (i.e. NPCs) attend and have a normal educational life. New students however often feel overwhelmed by it, but eventually all learn to regard it as normal. The school itself isn't focused around girl-girl sex and relationships, but it doesn't crack down on it either; officially, the school generally ignores it. Romantic interest in their peers is simply common and accepted as much as it would be if the school were of mixed genders. Girls are curious... they explore, meet up, date - openly or not - fumble their way through things and experience a relatively normal school life at the same time.

The tone that I want to hit with this game isn't really explicit; rather, it's more shoujo-ai or girl's love focused. Unlike many of my other games I want this to be very much anime or manga based and several of the illustrations are taken from Shoujo Sect. Recommended reading includes Hanjuku Joshi and Gakojou Drops (both available here, as well as many other manga), and Shoujo Sect. Animes such as [noembed]Candy Boy[/noembed], [noembed]Strawberry Panic![/noembed] and [noembed]Maria-sama ga Miteru[/noembed] also fit this general style and theme though the last two are more stylised, more ritualistic worlds. Shoujo Sect is at the more extreme end of the scale. Cute loving relationships, first kisses or confusion over feelings is where I'd like to head with this game.

Any sex would be mostly vanilla and exploratory and fumbling unless you wanted to play an experienced girl of a tall, dark and bishoujo or tsundere type or a sempai-kohai relationship. I have another all-female boarding school game set in England that focuses completely on BDSM relationships - here I wish to avoid all that so the game will be set in the 'light' section of the forums.

We have four now which I think is the bare minimum. I was hoping for 6 to 8 girls to share this large dorm-house but 4 is workable, though quite intimate.

Can you all please think about characters and we'll see if anyone else joins - if we start before they do then they can be mysterious transfer students or something.

It would be good if the girls knew each other already (whether very well or in passing) and in that respect perhaps we could discuss some interweaving of back stories or some such.

Character layout could go something like this:

Name: (in usual Japanese style please list the family name/surname first, then her given name. The players will understand that the second name is her first... er, if that's clear? In Japan its always "Smith Mary" and not "Mary Smith")
Age: (note: between 16 and 18 for first thru third year high school students. You can be 19 if you wish, denoting a girl who stayed back a year to retake graduation exams)
Appearance: (an anime or manga picture would be nice rather than a real life model please)
Personality: (something about what makes her tick and what is obvious on a first encounter - don't go into too many details as I'd like the subtleties to come out over time)
Background: (something about what has made this person who they are and why/how. Again no need for pages of detail, I'd like the game to be the place for the others to learn more about your character).

If you want to have a deeper/longer friendship with another character by all means swap PMs with that player and exchange more character detail that way befitting two people who know each other well.

Note that my character layout sheets always specify body type, measurements, etc. I'd like to avoid those things with this game and deal in personalities more than physical attributes. By all means draw attention to a person if she is exceptionally tall or short, heavy or slender and such but there's no need to measure every inch and weigh every pound. Thanks!

While I really like 'Shoujo Sect' it can definitely be classed as the most adult of these with openly pornographic lesbian scenes in every chapter which, while its fun, isn't the main element I'd like in the game.
