A raspy mechanical sound not unlike a coffee grinder with asthma fills the night air of a small country town disturbing the crickets and heralding the arrival of an odd little blue box. Like an old fashioned phone booth with a light on top, the object was definitely out of place. But then where did an object like this belong? To look at it, one could immediately assume that this odd blue box would seem out of place no matter where it might be. And so, by virtue of the fact that it didn't fit in anywhere else, it blended in here as well as anywhere.

The crickets had just had time to adjust to this new arrival and resume their chirping when the door to the strange blue box opened, and out stepped a man. The man seemed as out of place as the box, and so he probably belonged here.

He was tall, probably about six foot and three; and a bit stocky. He wore a long yellow over coat that made him seem a bit like the "Morton Fisherman." On his feet he wore a pair of black "Beatle Boots" and beneath the coat, but above his shoes, could be seen a pair of trouser legs with wide vertical stripes in purple and gray.

The man had long curly black hair, and a handful of freckles tickled his nose and his cheeks just under his eyes. These eyes were bright green and sparkly with intelligence, like Christmas lights.  A broad toothy smile dressed the man's face as he inhaled a deep lingering breath of damp sweet night air. After a moment, the man turned back to the box from which he had emerged, and fishing a key from his pocket, closed and locked the door.

By the time he strolled off into the darkness, whistling whatever tune was playing in his heart, the crickets had resumed their own song, affording him nary any notice.

A sound of joyful music attracted the man, rerouting his confident stride, and soon he was approaching a warm friendly looking little cottage. A sign above the door of the place identified it as a place of refreshment and of this the man took note.

"Ah, a pub!" He exclaimed with enthusiasm as he closed the distance to the happy sounding place and opened the door stepping inside. Crossing to the bar the man flourished his way into the room with a smile and declared quite shamelessly, "Hello, everybody!" A few of the bar's patrons returned the man's greeting and he knew at once that he liked those people.

The man ordered a pint with a verve that made him seem almost more a child than a man, and took a large ambitious gulp of the beverage as soon as it was handed to him. Looking around the room the man smiled, soaking in the atmosphere and asking himself, "I wonder what interesting people I will meet tonight!"
