Certainly.  There are a lot of variations I've seen on this, but how I would run would depend on what I sensed my players wanting.

I will see if I can find some links to share tomorrow.

In my perfect world, here are 10 things I'd want to see

1) All of the players have a personal quest that they can achieve without interferance from the other players.
2) All of the players have a single (or better multiple) challenges for each Aeon that they can work to solve together with consequences if they fail.
3) There is some conflict between players but not the back stabbing end the world ruin it for everyone else kind.  A cultural understanding of the players in the game that the story is ruined if people are dicks.
4) A sense of wonder.
5) A sense of completion.  I would like to do 5-6 Aeons and have it wrap up in a glorious finale.
6) The door to future use-Ideally I would like a story here that can lead to other games and other stories.  A chain would be lovely.
7) Player participation in creativity and contribution and the ability to tangibly reward them in the game for doing so
8) Creativity and rewards for doing so while keeping the game something that everyone can relate to
9) A dash of kink to take advantage of the lovely setting
10) That I and everyone involved has fun.
