This is Competition. It is an all female wrestling rp. There will be a system in place, simple and relaxed. Competition will focus on player communication, storytelling in ring, and out of the ring. Wednesday Night Competition starts at 8pm and it goes for three hours. On camera segments should be PG-13. R rated things can occur with live censorship. X-rated scenes will not happen on camera, but they can happen in the game. It takes place in a fictional world that very closely resembles ours. See ‘Setting’ for more on that fictional world.

The WWF has funded this endeavor but the show views itself as a standalone promotion. Many of the big stars moved to wednesdays. Wrestlers from other promotions were interested and put on the roster, famous athletes and even some celebrities signed contracts to try and cash in on the worldwide popularity.  It doesn’t resemble the other weekly programs, most notably, no visible authority figures appear on the show.

Two months passed, and the numbers spoke for themselves.
Raw: 4.1 million viewers
Smackdown: 3.3 million viewers
Competition: 6.4 million viewers

Fighting for the most prestigious female titles in the world, and performing in arenas on six different continents - a large women’s roster battle it out weekly with 8 yearly pay per views. The women are also slated to appear at Summerslam, Survivor Series, the Royal Rumble, and Wrestlemania. It is possible that they might be main eventing in all four events.

GM Notes to players...

  • This games has two GMs, Alias & InnocentSynn
  • Please feel free to make suggestions for the game and ask questions. We will not disregard any ideas outright.
  • Remember the two most important things: Have fun, and Be Respectful
  • Non claimable. The following women cannot be used as faceclaims. They are either PCs, or NPCs. The reason, these six women were integral in the transformation of wrestling and the creation of 'Competition': Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Asuka, Ronda Rousey
  • "Otherclaims" are not really claims. They are there for easy reference of created wrestler stylings. Kelly Kelly, for example is an Otherclaim for Anne Michaels. That's her white attire and the style of titantron. Kelly Kelly in this case would still be an acceptable character and faceclaim.

The Character Sheet
  • Please PM character applications to Alias and InnocentSynn. This prevents confusion for new players. We would like to keep unfinished characters invisible.
  • Please read the post below this post for more information on the game.
  • Three character limit to start.
  • All female wrestlers.
  • CAW/OC and real wrestlers are allowed. Sheets are filled out exactly the same.
  • This is not first come first serve. Applications will be reviewed, and everyone will recieve editing suggestions.
  • Faceclaim Freedom. With the exception of the six women listed above. All current Wrestlers are allowed as faceclaims. Let us explain: Using a real wrestler is ok. Using a real wrestler as a faceclaim for a CAW/OC is ok. Actresses/Singers are welcome as is, trying out wrestling for the money. Also, Using a celebrity as a faceclaim and giving them a wrestling background is fine. UFC fighters, sure, keep them as is, or create a character and use them as a faceclaim. You can even make creative changes to characters and real people. Major and minor changes to a real wrestler/person are welcome. Genderbending a male wrestler into a female character is also ok. (ie. Fia Balor. An irish woman with an occasional demonic gimmick, and a finisher called the coup de gras.) Faceclaims will be tricky for that task. Do try to avoid making wrestlers from previous eras younger in order to have Trish Stratus or a female version of Steve Austin as a PC. Multiple reasons. But the main reason is this: it messes with the chronology that We’ve set.

ANNE MICHAELS - Sample Sheet - GM PC
Anne Michaels

Gimmick: The Prideful Alpha Bitch - Anne wants to hurt her opponents. It even seems to turn her on. Rivaled by a few, her ring skills are breathtaking and precise.
Role: Heel
Hails From: San Antonio, Texas
Age: 26
Height: 5'9
Weight: 167 lbs.
Entrance Music: I Cut Like A Bufalo - Titantron style, mostly this actually. Except it would say 'Anne Michaels', and she would likely be pulling hair, choking girls, grabbing girls by the vagina, and more once every 4 or 5 shots.
Entrance & Ring Attire: Note. Anne Michaels always wears wrestler's boots, elbow pads, knee pads, and her hands are taped to protect herself. Her hair is always down, giving a casual look to her in the ring. Full Entrance Attire - Another - Very Close to this at times - A Different Attire - Gold attire sometimes too

Personality: Anna Rose Hickenbottom, an unfortunate name to say the least, has dealt with this curse in one way or another her whole life. Early on, it was remarkably easy to be 'Rosey Hickey Bottom', 'Prick in Bottom', 'Anne Sips on Bottom', and a number of other childish names. Growing up. She was Shawn Michaels' daughter, and about 10% of the people around her at any time was well aware of that - usually more, never less. She developed a hard skin early on, and being a celebrities daughter ended up defining her ego in many ways. She doesn't enjoy small talk, preferring deep conversations and interesting topics. She's not purposefully kind. Anne is more likely to stand up for what she believes in than play nice. She wants a good time, and she wants it almost every night. Anne loves the wrestling business, and she admires her father for allowing her to live in this world.

In ring...Anne Michaels is obnoxiously confident. She enjoys the controlling nature of wrestling, and she adapted to it quickly due to the violent nature. This woman is not complicated in her banter. She doesn't set traps or mislead people. She would rather make her point, prove that she's better and move on. Anne does not live in a happy place. She's competitive, manipulative, aggressive, and prideful. On a very serious level, Anne despises losing. This drives her to work out and increase her ring skills. She is showy, she's excited about bending the rules and causing other women pain makes her happy. It's no question that she gets some kind of sensual enjoyment from wrestling. Her facial expressions display that. Although she seems to tease and embarass her opponents more than anything directly sexual. This adds a level of intimidation to her in-ring presence. Especially if her opponent is an underdog. She sees herself as the most talented athlete in the company. Being friends with other competitors makes no sense to her in most cases. Her pride and her hatred of losing overwhelm her competitive spirit when it comes down to it. She would rather cheat than lose.

Background/Training: Originally a cheerleader and gymnast in highschool, Anne started to wrestle in amateur highschool competition. She was always Shawn Michaels' daughter. Only one boyfriend growing up was a real fan of her father's. A fortunate number considering that all of them knew who Shawn Michaels was - and, almost all of the men that she was interested in were about twelve in the year 2000. By the year 2009, she was going to Arkansas University. But, she was being held back. Not by anything specific, only her own decisions. She stopped doing combat sports, and she'd loved them in a way she didn't understand. Everyone who really cared for her knew that a Cheerleading scholarship wasn't going to hook her for four years.

She needed something physical. There had been a rush that she got from wrestling that she only ever got from that, and sex. Anne's scholarship forced her to be a cheerleader and she couldn't have a wrestlers body as a tumbler on the cheerleading squad. So,Track ended up being the substitute. It took over her life for the single year of college she was able to tolerate.  On top of everything, Anne was growing in height late in her teens and things were getting awkward for her again. The joy of just running as hard as she could with this new tall body was exciting. And, she knew that she had an opportunity to do something else. Unsure of what to do outside of college, and purely athletic, she wanted to pursue something that would make her money, and something that was fun to do. So, she turned to wrestling again. But, it was not amateur wrestling anymore. She was at the Texas Wrestling academy - at her father's pro-wrestling school, devoting all of her time to the art, and loving it. With only six months of professional training, she was in independent southern wrestling, and outperforming every woman she faced. The promoters wanted the attention, but Anne refused to be booked as Shawn Michaels' daughter. It was a tough sell, but her skills were desirable. So, 'Roses' became her ring name, but anyone with eyes could see that she had Hickenbottom blood. Her character would never change. Roses was only the precursor. She was a natural face due to her age and her outstanding beauty. People wanted her to win, even though she was new, even though the crowds were only 300 people at best. Championships were at the tips of her fingers, one of the juiciest prospects in wrestling, and the film was building up. It was the winter of 2010, and Anne was about to turn 20 years old.

More than a natural, she had watched the sport as a child, and there was a level of understanding that shocked her father and other trainers. Finding herself too young to do what everyone around her was telling her to do, she avoided any talks with the WWF and traveled to England for more training. There, Anne found a real proving ground. The influence of the McMahons was missing entirely, and it was sweet. She traveled, learned, and sold her skills. Still hiding behind her identity with her Roses ringname. She spent almost 3 years in England, Scotland, Ireland, and Germany, By 2013, she was starting to call the WWF.

Anna Hickenbottom went to the performance center. They knew that she was ready for the ring, but there was no one that just 'came in ready'. There were unwritten rules. She debuted on Smackdown in February of 2014, spending over a year in 'development'. It was frustrating. But, she'd earned her stripes, and the training only made her tighter, and more impressive. Skipping over NXT, she was rocketlaunched into a feud with Natalya and the rest has been history. A Two time smackdown champion, she gave up her chase for that belt and immediately started to pursue the WWF Women's Championship when it was returned for Wednesday's Competition roster.

And, in a grueling set of four matches, Anne Michaels won the inaugural sixteen woman tournament for the belt. This is also when she turned heel without looking back. Anne did not win the last two matches clean. A controversial finish to the tournament forced her to defend her belt often early on. She has defended the belt with some dominance, bending the rules more and more without breaking them directly, leaning deeper and deeper into her desire to be the champion, and losing her pride as a talented wrestler. Her aggresive nature has given her a good long run. Women have come close, and some competitors probably should have defeated Anne Michaels. But she's crafty, smart, and intimidating. That belt is starting to look very familiar around her waist. Her confidence has never been so great.

Moves:

Move Set:
Anne wants her opponent on the ground. She focuses on doing damage from there. She is not afraid to use Knees, kicks, and creative takedowns to put the other girl into a vulnerable spot. In addition, Anne has height and leverage, so she has an ability to suplex, toss, lift, and drop most of her opponents. She loves fighting smaller girls because they're easy to lift, and hard to tangle up. She is not incredibly gifted from the top rope, but she isn't afraid to go there when she needs to. It does, usually backfire on her. She likes to pin often, and she goes for the finish fast. Saving her own body is important to her, and her goal in every match is to end it before her opponent can put together any offense. It never really goes that way. But, it makes her frustrated fast whenever she competes. With a european wrestling background, she has several different kinds of bridging suplexes, and obscure submissions. Her chain wrestling ability is solid. But, it's not her greatest skill. She uses knees, kicks, suplexes, backbreakers, atomic drops, to weaken her opponents core. She also loves to target her opponents private parts. Low blows are not directly illegal, and neither are targeted strikes at breasts. She will also put a woman into holds that hurt her vagina, even though that is illegal, breaking it in time to save the match. She will grab hair, scratch, bite, claw, and grab hair whenever it's convenient to get an advantage. She wants to cause pain almost as much as she wants to win.

Signature Move:
Superkick
Buster Breaker Combo. Anne uses a series of repeated gut busters, conviently placed knee strikes in transitions, and repeated backbreakers. She never does this move the same. And usually does three lifting drops and about seven grounded knees. Always tries a pin afterward, only jobbers lose to it.

Finishing Move:
Submission Finisher - "Liontamer"/"Broken Hearts" - The move is famously known as the Liontamer. She see's herself as a lioness, so it functions. She also calls it the HeartBreaker as a reference to both her father, the Heart Break Kid, and the Broken Hart Family members that she and her father have left in their wake. It's an elevated boston crab. She sinks in with her knee on her opponents head. Leans back and squeezes herself to bend girls the wrong direction. Some people might even still call this move "The Walls of Jericho." But, none of that matters to Anne. It's a trusty maneuver that never really fails her.

BAYLEY - Sample Sheet - GM PC
Bayley

Gimmick: The Hugger - Bayley loves wrestling, and appreciates all of her opponents.
Role: Baby Face
Hails From: San Jose, California
Age: 27
Height: 5'6
Weight: 130 lbs.
Entrance Music: Bayley Tailored and ready
Entrance & Ring Attire: Long tights with built in kneepads, and a top that goes around the back of the neck

Personality: Bayley has been an obsessive fan of the WWF her whole life, or at least as far back as it matters. She is kind beyond measure, and has refused to take a victory before when she was aware that it wasn't legitimate. She works hard, she fights hard, and she cares about the business. She took time to train some of the younger competitors the NXT, making sure that when she left, they had a good base of in-ring skills to grow from. She's too honest to be a confident person. Cheaters beat her often, and she doesn't even gripe about it. She believes, deep in herself, that she can beat them even when they cheat. So, losing always just encourages her to work harder. she's a bit of a goof, and it's hard to take her seriously. Anyone that has been in the business longer than she has is an object of her admiration. And some newer women are so impressive that she can't help but look up to them as well. Her dream had always been to win a WWF championship. Now far surpassing her wildest dreams. Bayley was an integral part of the evolution that started Competition. She is proud of that in a healthy way.

Background/Training: Pamela Martinez, also known as Bayley has over ten years of training, working on being fit for the company since the age of sixteen. She basically toured before that to follow the WWF where ever they performed. Serving three years in the independents as Davina Rose, and utilizing an impressive ring talent early on, Bayley entered the WWF's performance center at the age of 22. By 23, she was on NXT. She and three other women rose through the ranks of the NXT at the same time. Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, and Charlotte Flair. Changing everything about women's wrestling as they performed beside each other, and against each other for the title. They stirred the pot and forced their competition to step up.

Bayley was, the least polished among them, and notably, the least attractive. When it was time to bring the women's revolution to the big stage, Bayley was left behind. Her three closest friends were gone, and she was alone on top of the NXT women's division for the better part of a year. Shortly after she dropped the belt to Asuka, she was called up to Raw, and continued to play her part in the evolution that led to Competition.

Stats:

Audience:  7

Moves:

Move Set:
Bayley is a technical and resourceful wrestler. She uses the ropes and the corner to attack her opponent from any angle. She has multiple spinning back elbows, suplexes, and a double axe handle. Bayley shows a significant wrestling prowess, able to chain together counters and roll ups. She chases the win like a child on a playground. Her momentum can grow and vanish easily, and she can waste a lot of motion in the ring. But, she's tenacious and intense as matches grow deep. She can win in a number of ways, and she is a difficult brunette to pin. She's tapped out before, but it's rare. Bayley is not familiar with the sensation of giving up. Not re-inventing the wheel
Signature Move:
Macho Man Elbow
Slip n' Slide

Finishing Move:
PopFinisher - Bayley to Belly!

Game Rules
(In Beginning phases like this, some rules are subject to change)

  • Respect. Follow the rules of E.
  • Male players are welcome here. Male characters won't fit in at all. Female characters only please.
  • Sexual themes can enter matches, as can fairly violent themes. Be sure your partner approves of everything you plan on doing
  • Communication. It’s very important in this game. Thorough character sheets are helpful, but PMs and good use of the OOC will be crucial in order to have fun.
  • Matches will have godmoding, and a loose format. An example post will be created to demonstrate this format. It will also apply to promos, segments, and vignettes.
  • While a match is active, players will be given 72 hours to respond to 'match-posts'. This will come up in game. And this is not a kickable offense. We just want to point to this when a player is inevitably left hanging in their wrestling match. In a case of this rule being broken, a GM post will continue the match. No real harm, no real foul. If this becomes a consistent problem for a player. The GMs will handle it on a case by case basis.
  • Match posts should not exceed 400 words. 200 words is suggested. 500+ is not ok.
  • On screen Posts have a one week posting rule. If it’s ‘on screen’, eventually that show ends. So, the scene has to end around the same time. Work together and don’t overbook your ladies.
  • Scenes that do not happen on camera do not have GM enforced deadlines
  • Game will take place on the Bondage roleplay boards

The Titles
At game start, titles will be held by GM PCs or NPCs. This is designed to give Player Characters something to chase right away.

The Setting

The women’s revolution happened faster, but all of the same stars did all of the same things to make it happen. This is a theme. The first Evolution pay per view was held in October of 2016. Two years ahead of our timeline. The all female wrestling show, ‘Competition’ was first aired on Wednesday, October 4th, 2017. Our game will start in April of 2018, after Wrestlemania. That means that if Competition were to happen in real life, it would air in October of 2019. Chronology set.

Wrestling was exposed for its predetermined matches in the 1950s, but nobody seemed to care because it was a hard argument to make and the secrets were well protected. Then, the next 70 years of wrestling history unfolded. Hogan, The Fabulous Moolah, Bret Hart, The Montreal Screwjob, the attitude era. It’s all there, But it is remarkably different.

The WWF never lost its name, and it never lost a swagger that it had in the 70s and 80s. Wrestling, to the public, feels much more real. None of wrestling history is exactly the same, but it is very similar. Everything is toned to feel more realistic. It’s popularity is greater than every other sport because of this. The popularity still peaked in the attitude era of the late 90s and early 00s due to the competition of WCW’s Nitro. Wrestlers don’t compete every week by force. It happens, but the competitor is usually winning easily, asking for the matches in promos, or both. The wrestlers are put into competitive classes that take weight into account. The classes, ultimately, are decided by ‘a number of other factors’. Money rewards are public, and winners make more than losers do. Champions make more money than everyone. Winning is everything. Records are kept and it is recognized as Professional Wrestling, a sport, not as sports entertainment.

The kayfabe has been protected (Kayfabe: the illusion that wrestling is real). As the media sources evolved, the wrestling business evolved to protect itself. Being gifted in the ring was more important because bad wrestlers were quickly exposed. But everything has looked so real for so long that the whole world is a mark. Acting is never mentioned, because everyone is too damned good. Most bad acts (i.e. fake Diesel/Nash, Papa Shango, Shockmaster) never happened. If they did, the focus was on the man/woman with the bad gimmick, no one suspected that they had been ‘written in’. Bad performers in the ring - for the most part - didn’t happen because scripts were good, and they allowed for improvisation.

The days of Ric Flair strutting naked through hotel hallways never really went away. The personalities were larger than life and the business only kept that alive by making gimmicks more natural and more believable, because they were always created by the talent themselves. Wrestlers never go on podcasts to talk about the business. They go on podcasts in character and talk shit to their opponents.

The rules of the matches have sustained the kayfabe as well as the performers have. Unlike amatuer wrestling, much more damage must be inflicted to win, creating the excitement with a three count instead of one. Unlike Boxing, Punching is fake, so it’s illegal. Bad guys still punch people to get heat mid match. An exchange of right hands never entered the wrestling match as a spot. The rules of a wrestling match have made everything feel grounded. And the Referee’s are the rulebook, alive in the ring.

Notes:
All referees on competition will be female
All match Rules will be listed for player convenience.

The System

Heat:  This is a measure of how popular your feud is with the crowd.

Momentum: Momentum can be used to modify your match decision rolls. You can only use 2 points of momentum at a time. And only 2. If used, the points add +3 to your roll. Leftover points cannot be used until the next show.

Audience: Determines your ranking.  The more Audience the better ranking.  Audience can only reach 10.  Losing a title drops your ranking, depending on the title (European -4, Tag Team -3, Intercontinental -3, World Title -2).  Tag Teams Audience is separate from Single Wrestler Audience.
1-4 – Low Card
5-8 – Mid Card
9-10 – Upper Card

WRITING MATCHES: Matches start out with one player in control of everything. The wrestlers, the audience, the pyro, the announcers, etc. When the next player posts, they take control of everything, and then hand it back over.  This is god-moding, by definition. But, it is necessary to keep the flow for the matches. An unwillingness to communicate with other players is not tolerated, especially during matches. A well written sheet is important in this game, as it is the reference sheet that players will use to write your character well. A player who makes other player’s characters look weak or otherwise out of of character will be removed from the game. Sometimes characters have bad matches and tough experiences. But, going against a players wishes is a kickable offense. One time warning, accident or not. A second offense is probation, you can’t wrestle for a month of real life time. A third offense, after a probation, is immediate removal from the game.

MATCH RESULTS: First things first, players are encouraged to book their own endings. When you are wrestling against another player, you two must come up with the finish before telling the GMs that there is a match. If the GMs think that the booked finish functions, the players can write the match, and the ending should go off without a hitch, because it was communicated.

If players want to have a system match, or if the GMs think the match should be rolled, this is how that will go: The GMs will choose one statistic for each wrestler that will be used to determine the result of the match. It is up the GMs' discretion as to which stat will be rolled. Players can dispute the stat they want to use, but it must be done in PMs with one or both of the GMs. public debate over stats for this roll is not suggested. The player will roll 2d6+chosen stat. The higher roll wins the match.  The rolled results will be posted publicly after the match.  The character that wins the match is given a FINISHING MOVE ROLL. Consult the table below for the results.

FINISHING MOVE ROLL
When you’re booked to win a match. Pick one, either choose from the list below, or roll 1d8. Each number has a corresponding finish for a heel and finish for a face. Any wrestler can win the match in the heel or face scenario. The descriptions are there to make things easy. If you would like to, invent your own finish and apply the following rule: Choose whether you gain +1 Audience, or whether your opponent does. (You cannot use the same choice for three consecutive matches)

8 - The Pop Finish - Choose: you gain +1 Audience, or your opponent does. (You cannot use the same for three consecutive matches)
Face: Center of the ring, use a pop finisher, and pin your opponent for a 3-count. If no pop finisher, reroll
Heel: Use your opponents pop finisher on the outside of the ring, and win by count out while taunting. If opponent has no pop finisher, reroll

7 - Submission Finish - Choose: you gain +1 Audience, or your opponent does. (You cannot use the same for three consecutive matches)
Face: A technical match and a tough opponent. Struggling, you apply your submission finisher to win by tap out. A regular submission hold can also function.
Heel: You’ve spent the whole match focusing on your opponents (select body part). Apply submission finisher to win by tap out. If no submission finish, reroll

6 - The Surprise Finish - Choose: you gain +1 Audience, or your opponent does. (You cannot use the same for three consecutive matches)
Face/Heel: A long tough match. But you are going to win this clean. Whether it be by roll up, a surprise sunset flip, a powerbomb off of an impromptu ladder. Something big gave you a victory. Pin or Submit. You get the win.

5 - The Foreign Object Finish - Choose: you gain +1 Audience, or your opponent does. (You cannot use the same for three consecutive matches)
Face: The heel has tried to use a foreign object to gain an unfair advantage. With the fans approval, and the ref distracted, you give the heel a taste of their own medicine and win by using the foreign object anyway you desire. (partner must approve of sadistic/sexy details)
Heel: The face has been asking for it. The ref is distracted, and you see your opportunity. Use the foreign object anyway you desire to win the match. (partner must approve of sadistic/sexy details)

4 - Interference Finish - Choose: you win with any finish (1-8), and you both gain +1 Momentum, or win via count out, disqualification or interference, and gain +1 Heat with your opponent.
Face: The heel has tried to include her friends, and win unfairly. You outsmart them all and better your opponent anyway.
Heel
: Strength in numbers. It’s simple math. You have friends, she doesn’t. Use them appropriately and put another Win the record book.

3 - The DQ finish - Choose: you win with any finish (1-8), and you both gain +1 Momentum, or win via count out, disqualification or interference, and gain +1 Heat with your opponent.
Face: Your opponent has become too emotional to compete with you or care about winning or losing. She breaks the rules too much for the referee to allow the contest to go on any further. You win the match by disqualification of your opponent.
Heel: Intelligence. That’s what it’s about. Whether by sleight of hand, manipulation, or provocation. Your opponent has been suckered into cheating right in front of the official. You win the match by disqualification of your opponent.

2 - The Count out - Choose: you win with any finish (1-8), and you both gain +1 Momentum, or win via count out, disqualification or interference, and gain +1 Heat with your opponent.
Face: A desperation move. You’re weak, the ref is high in his 10-count. At this point, you either go to a draw, or win by count out. You need this win, there is no option. Beating the count at the last second. The ref hits 10 and your opponent is left stunned outside of the ring.
Heel: Its an easy way around a tough match. You don’t have to be stronger, or faster. You just have to be smarter. And thats easy. One well timed moved and the match is yours, while standing in the ring, your moderately exhausted opponent loses at the count of ten.

1 - A bad match - choose any finish (1-8) Choose: you lose -1 Audience (but get the win) or you lose.

Sample Match Post:
Stylized for Wrestling
The bell tolled into the shallows and depths of the arena over the PA. A swell of energy started to calm as the fiery crowd were trying to decide if they should boo or cheer. The lights shifted, and the swimming din around the competitors seemed to fill them up with juice and energy. Thumper was the number one contender for the Women’s championship. She was hopping and stretching, preparing her body for a fight. Squire was sulking, making eye contact as if she was trying to haunt her competitor. While Danielle “Thumper” Zachary was clean and sharp, even though she was scared and short of hair. The Squire, Alice - she looked like she’d just finished a drug binge. Her makeup was dark and her hair was wildly flipping around her shoulders in a sloppy ponytail, and loose thin braids.

Mia: Well folks, here we are, an undeserved bout for this psychopath, hopefully, Thumper spends some time making Squire regret this decision.

Lauren: Nonsense, Mia. it’s nice to see some one so determined to get what they have been looking for.

Squire and Thumper rotated around each other, adjusting their pads, and talking trash to each other incoherently over the din of the rumbling crowd. The crowd was engaged instantly as Alice started the match. She charged Danielle Zachary, aiming to pin her shoulder into her opponents solar plexus.

Lauren: She’s been looking for an opportunity, and, see, she has the aggression, the raw emotion to win any match she’s in.

Mia: She’s 2-13, I think… 2-14, I’m seeing. It’s a shock she’s still competing with the likes of Thumper, if I’m being honest.

A double leg takedown was a good idea to start a match, but Thumper had telegraphed it perfectly. Hopping off of her left foot with a nauseating grace, her right knee folded up and plowed into Squire’s face. She heard a pop in her jaw and flashed black for a moment.

Lauren: Oh no!

Mia: and Zachary, with a calculated knee lift! This professional striker just found her mark, directly into Squire’s jaw, Thumper saw that coming from a mile away, Lauren

Squire found herself on the mat to a cheer of the audience and a woman clad in white and purple flaunting around the ring with her arms held up at her sides. Thumper was goading the crowd and showing her superiority over the competition. The long haired woman in black makeup on the mat rolled away and out of the ring. She stepped to the floor and walked casually checking the condition of her jaw.

Lauren: Smart, very smart.

The ref was shouting for her to get back into the ring, Squire started around it, walking away from the entrance ramp and toured the commentators. As she passed a camera, her shouting and complaining could be heard, “Her kneepad is loaded! Ring the bell!”

The ref had to shout loudly for her to hear as the crowd booed her defiance.

Ref: get back in the ring, Alice!

Mia: so, here we go again. Squire Alice, after taking a single knee from Danielle is claiming that the kneepad has some sort of foreign object in it, and the ref is, responsibly, not paying it a single bit of mind.

Danielle had to follow Squire out of the ring as the ref started to count.

Mia: I don’t know about this. Thumper might be Making a mistake here, I think Squire is trying to get Danielle out of the ring.

Lauren: again, this is just smart.

Squire was shouting at the timekeeper as Danielle approached from behind her. Hearing the swell of the crowd, she felt Thumper coming and turned a half second too late. The count had started over with Thumper’s exit from the ring.

Ref: Two! Come on ladies, lets get back in the ring!

With more strength, Danielle got leverage on Squire quickly and swept the leg while pushing her over, some classic Judo to get her down. In the fall, Squire’s head struck the barricade. Thumper showed her name as the devastating kicks followed. There were several of them, mean and rapid into Squire’s abdomen.

Mia: getting the upper hand outside of the ring as well now, Squire is way out of her league.

Lauren: I think she has Thumper exactly where she wants her, here. Over confident. The Squire doesn’t feel pain, Powell.

Ref: Four! Five!

After a volley of kicks, Danielle sank one in deep and nearly pulled a thigh muscle with the impact. She grunted and Squire lifted off of the ground. The crowd made an audible ‘Oooh!’ and Danielle was shaking her head in confidence. Reaching down, she wanted to win this the right way. Taking a hold of Squire and bringing her to the edge of the ring, Thumper rolled her stumbling form from the apron and under the ropes.

As Thumper soaked it in from the crowd, a replay of her deep kick played to show just how hard Squire’s abdomen had been punished. A close up on Squire’s face reveals that she is smiling as the kick impacts.

Mia: I tend not to agree with you too often Lauren. We have different values, and I respect that.

Lauren: And I find you foolish, Mia.

Mia: but this Squire is scary. I’ve never seen anyone enjoy Danielle Zachary’s thunderous kicks. That is unique.

Indeed, Squire was now laughing as she rolled back into the ring. She was holding her stomach and raising to her knee using those muscles to lift her body off of the ground. Danielle was following, and the ref was watching closely. Squire moved fast and Danielle was a bit too confident as she strode through the middle rope.

While she only had one leg on the ground, lifting the other through the ropes, Squire came flying at knee height, shoulder thrusting Zachary on the corner of her MCL.

Mia: Oh, a well timed shoulder, there.

“Aaah!!” Thumper cried loudly in pain, and Squire was on her quickly. Her leg looked broken, but it could have been worse. Collapsing, the sneaky opponent was flying at her with high speed elbows and knees.

Lauren: Ah yes! See Mia! I told you.

Squire had fast limbs, elbows and knees aiming for vital places, the neck, the face and the lower back. She got to her feet as she kicked and dropped knees on the tailbone, the oblique, the hamstrings, and the knees of Thumper. The match had gone sour quickly. Bringing Thumper up to her knees and pushing her against the bottom rope, Squire reeled back and launched herself forward, grabbing Thumper’s neck as she charged through her.

Mia: Whoa! Using the bottom rope. Squire shoots through!

Danielle contorted, being scorpioned by the tension of the rope and the force of the attack. On her knees, the anchors of her feet didn’t let her body bend normally, and a tight squeeze on her back was forced as Squire aimed for the floor outside of the ring as carefully as she could.

Mia: Squire lands hard!

And she had, as Danielle suffered, her head being let go about half way down, her legs finally kicked up into the air, her back slammed into the apron. Helpless, and reaching, Thumber nearly fell on her head down onto the floor.

Mia: And Zachary is out of the ring! Thumper has a problem here, the winds are changing direction, and Squire has put together a devastating string of moves.

Lauren: That was so amazing about this woman, I don’t even know what to call that move.

The ref started the count again as the audience looked on with concern.

Mia: Both women on the floor now. Let’s look at that scorpion dive one more look.

A replay started showing the head tackle that Squire had performed as she dove out of the ring. Danielle nearly broke her spine three times in the fall.

Lauren: I’m not gonna watch that again. Pure brutality is admirable, but I’m not excited to watch, Mia.

Mia: An absolute wreckless maneuver, it looks like each of them suffered some damage, but Thumper saved herself in the fall, somehow using her arms to save her neck.

Thumper was moving, she’d adjusted as she dropped, possibly in a last second saving move to keep her neck from snapping.

Mia: Squire showing some of that spirit that you call it there, Lauren.

Lauren: absolute brilliance.

Mia: It’s sick, its not wrestling.

Squire was laughing again, she’d landed on her back, and she had been smiling before she caught her breathe. As the refs count gre larger, she found her knees and crawled toward Thumper, talking under her breathe and taunting the number one contender. Thumper was reeling in pain, trying to stretch her back the opposite direction that Squire had bent it into. She was almost onto her hands on knees when Squire came close enough to strike.

Ref: Six!

Mia: Just sadistic, I think she’s trying to win by count out.

Lauren: it’s still a win, if I remember the rules, Mia.!

A camera from a few feet away caught some of the exchange as Squire’s voice lifted. Laughing, Squire was over Thumper, holding her face against the ground, “yeah?! Learn to like it, bitch, it’s not over.” Using her knees, Squire started to crawl on top of Thumper, giving her a vicious massage as she made her way back to the ring.

Ref: Seven

Mia: Is it? I’m not sure what’s on her mind any more.

Lauren: That’s the beauty, no one does.

Lauren laughed into the microphone as Squire showed a similar expression. Rolling inside, Squire twirled to her feet and put a closed fist into the air, spinning slowly toward the center of the ring. A legion of boos echoed around the arena as Thumper corrected herself on the floor.

Ref: Eight!

Finding the Apron. Thumper inched her way back in as the ref came up to nine. On one knee, and with both hands up. Squire was set to charge again but she saw the low fighting position of Danielle, and she came down to her knees, sliding a foot over the mat, and coming face to face with Danielle. On the edge of the ring, they each hesitated to try and counter the other. A moment passed, and their expressions showed, Squire had an evil grin, and Danielle looked sincerely furious.

Mia: a unique stand off here.

The tension between them broke when a wad of thick saliva flew from Squire’s lips, colliding with Thumper’s face, and left eye. The number one contenders hands went to her face, and Squire was rising up. The match had been evened out, and it was just getting going.
It should be noted. This is 1700+ words. So, it's about 5-10 posts worth of match writing to read. If there are any questions about how to write in a match, feel free to ask us however you feel comfortable doing so. I'd be happy to help.

Header: There will be a header for the game that will be made soon after this game has it's own information board.

NPCs for Competition: The GMs will be making character sheets for the announcers, the ring announcer, and the interviewers that run around with microphones backstage. There will also be plenty of NPC wrestlers on the roster. This will be done after we get players, and an OOC

Alias one of these days you need to stop reading my mind. I'd say I love you but you made me look up the actual names of wrestling moves. >.<

Whoops
Vesper Star

Gimmick: Rich sadist who gets in your head and then bashes it.
Role: Heel
Hails From: Dallas, Texas
Age: 26
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 115 lbs
Entrance Music:
Entrance & Ring Attire: Tiny shorts, tiny top, kickass boots.

Personality: On stage Vesper is a smug, elitist, self-righteous, bossy woman from a Texas oil family. She carefully balances her personality in a way that allows her to turn almost any feud personal - by insulting her opponent's upbringing, politics, competitiveness, etc. She likes to claim she's been beating up bigger girls since her big sisters and family friends growing up on the ranch and got so good at it her daddy told her she should go get paid. She sometimes plays up having family connections with the wrestling management in order to get special treatment from the company. When she has a boyfriend character they are inevitably effete, fashionable, pushovers.

In reality, she is in fact from a decently well off Texas family, though not as connected or wealthy as her character makes it out to be - she earned her place in the promotion and all the chances she gets - and this always shows in her longer matches. Some of her gimmick is an act, or just an exaggeration of who she really is. The parts where she thinks she's the best there is and deserves to be the champion forever? She's not faking that. She always argues when the brass suggests she should be a face. She loves being a heel.

Background/Training: Vesper grew up loving sports and drama equally. She was too small to make a career out of any of the sports she liked, and didn't have the dramatic range to make a career of the stage. On a lark she tried out for an audition for a reality TV-show looking for the next women's superstar and found that she loved every bit of it. It was a tight competition but she won in the end and got a chance to show she could hang in the big leagues. The earnest, hard-working personality she displayed on the reality show was molded into a power-hungry elitist for her character, a role she took to all too naturally. She's been a professional for just a year or so now, and has had a few memorable matches but never captured any titles. She tries to steal the show every time the camera is on her to prove that she deserves the top spot and is starting to get noticed.

Stats:
Power: -2
Agile: -1
Aerial: +2
Technical: 0
Rough: +1
Savvy: +3

Audience:  6
Momentum: 1
Heat: 3

Moves:

Move Set:
Vesper is known for using her larger opponent's mass against them with takedowns and reversals that turn their own moves against them. Against smaller opponents she's not at all afraid to bully and bash. She likes to let her opponents wear themselves out failing to knock her out and then kicks her high flying moves into gear when they are less risky as her opponent is tired or dazed. She also likes to cheat by having an assistant toss her something she can use to hit her opponent with while the ref isn't looking, and she takes great joy in pulling her opponent's hair or twisting their nipples while the ref's back is turned.

Signature Move:
Tilt-a-Whirl Head-scissor Takedown
Reversal into Backstabber

Finishing Move:
Pop Finisher - "Career Killer" (Tornado DDT from the Top Rope)

Anne: "Who? There's someone else holding this belt with me?"

hehe, actually yes. lol. If it was a stable, she would like to see herself as the better of the two, even if the world knows that they are equals in the ring. I'm gonna be pretty careful about who she alligns herself with. But, brainstorming is like, my favorite thing.

That does make me fairly new to this format of game, and on the whole, new to this world. Our Co-GM is someone that has played online wrestling games before. Hey all. This being an interest check, we're modifying a few things as we move along here, especially in the first day. Original Post was updated. Information is located  here as well.

"Please PM character applications to Alias and InnocentSynn. This prevents confusion for new players. We would like to keep unfinished characters invisible." This was added after RedPhoenix posted her sheet. So, that was my goof up. I usually always ask for this in my games, and it slipped my mind this time for some reason.
"This is not first come first serve. Applications will be reviewed, and everyone will recieve editing suggestions."

And there are six particular wrestlers that will either be PCs, or NPCs. They cannot be used as faceclaims. Note, one is a GM PC, and another is reserved already. This new rule is designed to maintain the history of the roleplay. As these six women were the vanguards that led to the creation of 'Competition'.
Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Ronda Rousey, Asuka

Things are in flux, there will likely be some edits to our original post in regards to the setting and the world of wrestling in our game, including some vocabulary to cement some OOC terms. Battening down the hatches, and making sure this setting we're writing in makes sense. Loves to all, not too many changes, game should feel the same.

UPDATE

There has been an adjustment to our setting. And a line in our character sheet is different. The tone of the game is the mostly the same, but the setting has been adjusted to give our world a more sustainable structure. Before, i had designed things for a world full of real fights and very competitive characters. We can still write with that kind of tone. As the matches should feel as intense as ever. But, shoot fighting every week is absurd. And, I like the way things are structured now. Of course, InnocentSynn helped with the presentation and the editing. Also a special thanks to Crash for entering the conversation. Our game is stronger, and our setting makes much more sense than it did before. Loves to all!

Excited to see those characters come in! A reminder to PM them to myself and to InnocentSynn.

Oooo! VERY interested! :D This sounds like a ton of fun!

I'd just like to clarify the level of smuttiness we're aiming for, if that's okay! The opening post mentions that "X-rated scenes will not happen on camera", but also "sexual themes can enter matches" and foreign object finishes can have "sexy details", sooo... where's the line, or is there one? No full on sex matches or anything, I assume, or? How about undressing or... stimulating your opponent during a match?

Also, is there a distinction between kayfabe and "shoot" in backstage scenes, either? I mean -- do characters continue their kayfabe storylines even when the cameras aren't rolling (meaning there in practice isn't a "shoot" reality at all)? Or should we assume that when we're off the air the workers are all kinda aware that their on-screen relationships are not necessarily the same as off-screen?

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure I've understood perfectly what's desired :-)

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure I've understood perfectly what's desired :-)

It's best to imagine the rating system that a TV station might use. It's not pornography, but very sexy things can happen. The "on-screen" action is pro-wrestling. The women are respected athletes.

And when you plan on doing something borderline, be sure the player your writing the match with well aware of it. They might not want their character in those kinds of scenarios.

As for shooting backstage. Its not completely out of the question. Backstage politics are part of the fun, and if a character needs to fight. I'm not going to stand here in an interest thread and say it's impossible.

We just recently changed how our kayfabe is set up, so it's possible that it's not clear in the original post. We were careful when we edited. But mistakes could still be there. I'll try to keep this short. Backstage, off camera, no promo, no vignette, wrestlers are likely going to be different then they are in character. The outside world does not know this. The kayfabe is protected, and from the public's point of view. Everything is a shoot. The public doesn't know the word shoot. Even hardcore wrestling fans think it's real.

With all that being said, we might end up with a few characters that take things more seriously. My character Anne is very different on camera. I need to edit Bayley to make sure she is written in the correct setting.

I hope that helps! Happy to answer any other questions.

Small rule change to alleviate the percieved pressure from players. That pressure was never intended. Rule change is about posting frequency during matches.

"While a match is active, players will be given 72 hours to respond to 'match-posts'. This will come up in game. And this is not a kickable offense. We just want to point to this when a player is inevitably left hanging in their wrestling match. In a case of this rule being broken, a GM post will continue the match. No real harm, no real foul. If this becomes a consistent problem for a player. The GMs will handle it on a case by case basis."

There's the new rule. *kisses!!!*

Nice to see Sakura make an appearance  :P

Ooo! A wild relikai has been spotted!!
Should I put you as an interested player, love?

Relikai

I can put myself as interested, might use Kashiwagi Yuki as a faceclaim.

Datawych

Tentatively interested, though I'm still catching up on things after the holidays.

I'm not sure if I'd want to reuse Helene or make someone new, however.

Ooo. A busy day here, I'll edit the original post when I'm home from work.

Marie Reynolds

Yay more Interest!

Oh Alias or Innocent Synn is it okay to offer character ties in the characters history with other players?

Tying characters together with their backgrounds is definitely a good idea. If you want to connect your character to someone else in the past, the history section of the sheet is a good spot for that.

As long as the players know that their character is mentioned in that history. You can also connect your wrestler with characters that are not in the game as PCs. If someone comes in to play that character, we'll sort it out without much trouble.

Marie Reynolds

Okay Cool just wanted to ask before I invited people to make ties with Michelle.

So if anyone would like  to make  ties with Michelle Shaw, I am absolutely okay with that. She  could fit in as a mentor friend or the person helped rehabilitate  your character after an injury. Even a rival friendly or otherwise would be cool to have.

Datawych

I'm gonna go ahead and reserve Hye Young Kim as a face/body claim. I'm thinking former MMA fighter turned fitness model-slash-Competition competitor.

Still trying to find the time to sit down and make a full character sheet, though.

I'll make the edits to the OP. And no rush. I'm not sure when we'll launch, but we're just now starting to get enough sheets to justify having a thread for them. That should happen soon, no timetable yet.

Having the sheets up somewhere could make it easier to plan possible shared backgrounds? :-) When you feel ready though, no hurry~

I'm happy to discuss if anyone has ideas with Ayumi, as well! the basic idea with her is that she's kind of just joined as a full-time wrestler, but she's been touring with her wrestler dad pretty much forever so most vets would know her as that cute little girl who used to hang around the arenas and locker rooms; and nowadays she's a super popular Youtuber who makes videos about wrestling and everything about it. (Yes, quite like her previous incarnation, I know >.<)

GM UPDATE

hello all! Getting ahead of the curve here.

The Competition Roster and Rankings. This is the thread that will store all active PCs. It's very primitive now, but the Original post will get bells and whistles as our game matures. Please only post approved characters there. Approved characters are listed in the Roster thats at the beginning of this thread and the Roster thread.

Send character sheets to myself and Innocent Synn for approval. The three initial GM PCs are already there. they will function as regular PCs, so dont be afraid to connect with Synn and I! :)

lots of loves, keep working on sheets, and don't be discouraged when we ask for an edit. The odds of nailing it on the first try is low. Anne and Bayley were edited multiple times. Also, our new thread will be linked in this thread's original post for convenience.

Marie Reynolds

Hey Snowdrop Would it be acceptable  to pm to see if we want to make some Character ties since we are both have a background in Japan wrestling.

Crash

I really need to work on a character for this....sorry it is taking so long.

You aren't the only one. Everyone who sent in characters still interested?

I still have pretty high hopes, despite our snail-like recruitment.
Loves to all, please ask us questions if you're stuck. Innocent Synn and I can feild wrestling questions, I'm also willing to offer character building experience to those who are stuck on the sheet.

Marie Reynolds

I am of course still interested and Looking for character ties with other pc's now.  Since I got my character approved.

Alias

consider it done Crash!!

A small thing here, as character connections are made, feel free to make mention of those connections in the history section of your Character Sheet. This is not required. But, do keep track of which characters are connected to yours. We'll be displaying kayfabe connections, rivalries, and off camera relationships in the OOC that we will eventually have. Stables, tag teams, and all that will be kept on an information page. So, be sure to PM me details about your character connections, and I'll make sure we have a good collection of information when the time comes!

Loves to all, talk to you all soon!

Sounds good Crash, How about we go with the knowing each other from the international Circuit and met when Cherri came  to Japan and  maybe even met a few times in  some of the South East Asian Islands.

May I pm you Crash to hash out things, So we don't take over the recruitment thread.

InnocentSynn

And let us also welcome Aurora Cross into the mix.  Anyone looking for connections with her, please do let me know!

InnocentSynn has also added his second character to the mix.
I'll send out PMs to the interested parties and see if we can get this baby started sooner rather than later. Loving the sheets so far, but a few more PCs will help the game out in bunches! Hoping to report soon. If you're new and checking out whats going on. We haven't started, and we're still definitely recruiting!

yuki92

yes! Thats a good idea. Sorry for the delayed response. I left went into chaos land this month, still trying to find my way back to a place where I have time to write and check E. But yes!

I still intend on doing this game, and thats a good idea, just incase something in there doesn't fit. Again, apologies for the wait! Loves!

GM ANNOUNCEMENT

Alright folks, so unfortunately Alias and I have been talking and we've agreed that at this time, we're going to go ahead and shelf Competition.  It honestly didn't get the level of interest that we were hoping for and it doesn't make sense to attempt a game with only a couple of players.  We want to thank those of you that showed interest and hopefully somewhere down the line, we can revisit this idea and possibly get this going somewhere down the line.

Marie Reynolds

Well if and when this gets resurrected, I look forward to playing this and or gaming with you all around E! Feel free to keep in touch by PMs if you like!
