OOC & Discussion Thread
Character Roster

It started when several strange books were discovered beneath a school in upstate New York.  No one knew where they came from, who wrote them, or how old they were, only that there was something unusual about the otherwise blank pages wrapped between plain, black and brown leather covers that were completely unmarked by time or the elements.  They were quickly forgotten since no one could write in them without the ink disappearing, and the pages remained blank no matter what was done to them to reveal what was possibly hidden.  The books themselves were immune to damage, fire didn't burn them, they didn't get water logged, and trying to tear them apart was an exercise in futility.

Inevitably they wound up in an old warehouse, where they just up and vanished one stormy day, only to reappear several years later halfway across the city, where they waited, biding their time for the right people to come along to unlock their secrets.

Because when that happens, and the chaos has spread sufficiently far and wide, then...

Hell won't be far behind.

For those that don't know, Bible Black was an older hentai series that had at least two spin offs/sequel series done for it, detailing the goings on of a little black book of magic making its rounds through a small city in Japan, originating in a school's secret basement that one student accidentally uncovers.  There were the occasional blood sacrifice, a lot of futanari transformation sex, at least one demon summoning that ended in a semi violent rape of one of the summoners, and just wild and crazy sex between women and the occasional guy throughout.  Point being, this would be pretty crazy in terms of what's allowed, but there WOULD hopefully be a chance for character development and story relevant stuff going on rather than pages of endless smut.  Not that there's anything wrong with that of course, but I prefer story and plot to sex scene after sex scene.  I DO want there to be pretty crazy stuff involving demons, virgin 'sacrifices', and whatever else we can cook up though, but story should take priority.  The premise though is that these books are 'sentient' in that they WANT to be read, and they want people to use the power contained within their pages.  Kinda like the Darkhold from Agents of SHIELD if you want a recent comparison, which was able to corrupt anyone, regardless if they were human or android, who made the mistake of reading from its pages, which adapted itself so that it was legible to that individual person.  If you spoke German, it wrote itself in German, French, or code if you were a robot, the result was the same.  In exchange for forbidden knowledge and power, you wound up losing your sanity a bit.  For this, it'd be far less science and much more magically inclined, with each book holding the same information, BUT they'd adapt themselves in such a way as to be the kind of power that person desires most.  There's only seven, but I'm not going to put hard limits on what each contains, so long as each is unique to that person.  Anyway, this would be set in a New York city college, with a few city blocks worth of places to visit and the like, so feel free to include places your character likes to hang out at or work at if you wish in your background information.

At any rate, here's a basic premise of what I'm kinda going for currently.

Basic Premise

While this will be set around a college campus in the center of New York, (a bit of a drive from the Hamptons), this isn't going to be a school life centric RP.  The setting is more the area in and around the campus itself, with people going to work, living lives, just trying to get by, unaware that there's another world all too eager to try and subvert Earth by tearing down the walls separating the two worlds.  It's a VERY long term plan, so while that's on the very distant horizon, the focus is more on the people, demon, hunter, or otherwise, just doing what they do for whatever reason they get up in the morning.  Will there be sex and smut and all the rest?  Yes, but IT'S NOT THE FOCUS, the interaction between our characters, how they all fit into the city and life in general, despite their VERY different outlooks on life, is what I wish to bring to life.  Will there be magic and mayhem and all that?  Yes, but keeping a low profile so that the authorities or worse, hunters or rival demons don't pop up and wreck your day is of the utmost importance.  Having said that, ample use of magic is still more than welcome, especially if it leads to interesting chances for character development and the like.  :D  For now, this will start on Day 1, with a few IC threads for us to gather and operate in.  If we DO manage to get a Big Group board of our own, then I'll see about doing more personal threads for the various people here, such as a club of some sort for Sath'tan and the Book Holders, or some personalized house or apartment areas for people that want them.  The club might actually ending up being one of the starting areas, depending on what someone else ends up doing, but if not, I'll put together something for people to gather as they like.  Whatever the case, I AM hoping this makes it far.

As for a story, while for the time being it's mainly just giving people a chance to get to know their characters, there WILL be demonic threats that need to be dealt with before they can blunder their way out into the public eye.  Sath'tan and the Book Holders will have to aid their Silver Rose counterparts on occasion to stop the overall reveal of problematic demons who don't know the meaning of 'keeping a low profile', as well as rogue Hunters and the like.  There might also be a chance for some vigilante justice against serial rapists, mobsters, and whatever else you feel like throwing your demonic power at if such things pop up.  Overall though this is more a chance for people to have fun and do what they like for the most part.  Having said that, the 'Dark Plot' as this stuff would be collectively referred to, is completely optional for people to do as they wish or not, so don't feel obligated to make a character that would fit into being able to handle this kind of thing.  Just do what you feel comfortable in doing and there will be plenty for you to keep yourselves busy, promise.  :D

Guidelines

1:  The books WANT to be read.  Your native language will appear in the pages, allowing for perfect comprehension.  Having said that, they don't corrupt people.  People don't need the help to turn rotten when given god like power.  Power simply reveals who a person really is.  But corruption is still a thing by all means, just don't try to say it was the magic book that turned you into a madman/woman that liked to sacrifice small animals to appease your dark gods.  :P

2:  Each book is unique in the kind of power it holds for the person to study at their heart's content.  From blood magic rituals right outta Dragon Age, to summoning demons to do their bidding, whatever you want to go with, it's yours to do as you like.  Just be unique in what kind of magic you're going for, and while there can be rituals to BECOME a reality warping god, such a thing would take an immense amount of preparation and power to pull off.  Followers, the appropriate sacrifices performed at the right time, etc.  Basically, a long term project for ultimate power.

3:  This WILL be an Extreme RP due to the possibility of demonic tentacles, futanari, rape, demon summonings, blood and cum offerings, and magical 'coercion' resulting in dubious consent, among other things.  Futanari would likely be temporary unless desired, but love/lust spells and the like are entirely possible, and even encouraged.  ;D >:)

4:  Magic spells can be learned by anyone, allowing cult followers and the like to naturally gravitate towards a book holder, but only one person can hold only one of the seven books at a time.  They can only be passed down if willingly given, OR if the holder is killed off by someone desiring the power for themselves rather than whatever trickles down their way.  (Not all of the book spots need to be claimed, but we DO need at least three for a good amount of varied magic and stuff to go around.)

5:  This is a modern setting in our modern world, where magic, monsters, and all the rest are the product of fiction and myth.  Discovery by the wrong person could bring the authorities or worse down upon you.  (IE, don't be dragging succubi around behind you in public.)  :P  Also, just because you summon and bind a demon doesn't mean they're your slave.  They have their own thoughts, desires, and the like, which means if they have half a mind to, they WILL try to screw you over.  And since most people make the mistake of thinking magically bound demons are their slaves, you can imagine their 'pets' get understandably pissed off when treated like property.
Side Note
There's a couple of book series I've come across in recent months that actually explores the idea that demons summoned for various tasks actually hate being controlled, and actively try to weasel their way out of their bindings if their masters are abusive, which are quite often, or just overly controlling, either by tricking their 'masters' so they can kill them, OR they purposely misinterpret their orders so that they get so annoyed that their master makes a mistake, or releases them, allowing them to go back to where they came from.  Sometimes with their foolish master in tow.  Just something to consider for future plot points if nothing else.  ;D

6:  Demons CAN be used as an acceptable character, but they need to be in disguise while out in public at all times.  Also, certain plot related things will be important to those that do choose to do so because the magic from those books will slowly but inevitably tear down the walls between dimensions, making it much easier for Hell's minions to take over the world.  That won't be a thing for a very long while though, so feel free to go nuts.  ;D >:)  Having said that, the demons that ARE summoned all know exactly what those books are and what they're capable of, and they WANT the walls to come down.  They WANT Earth to become theirs, but NONE of them will be saying a word until its far too late to stop it from happening, should it happen.  Beyond that, feel free to corrupt your human companions to your little black hearts' content.  ;D

7:  Respect each other's O/Os.  That should go without saying of course.  :D

8:  Character limit is currently set to two per person.  Anything more will have to wait for the time being.  Also, scene tracking will also be required, please and thank you.  There will also be a header once the IC starts up, that WILL be required at the start of every post.

9:  I CAN and likely WILL change the rules and guidelines as the situation warrants, but the usual E rules apply as always.  Beyond that, I hope you guys have a fun time shaping this weird little world.  ;D

Acceptable character concepts

Average humans:  Anything from a college student to someone working a nine to five, to club owners and CEOs, as long as they're eighteen or older, I won't complain.  Variety is the spice of life though, so while this is set around a campus in the middle of New York, the more diverse the cast, the happier I'll be.  (Average humans have no limit currently)

Book holders:  Only seven may be present at any time, but while they're average humans otherwise, they're not to be underestimated even though keeping a low profile is key to their survival.  They're free to use their newfound power for whatever they wish, but no one should be holding mass ritual orgies or planning sacrifices for the time being.  (6/7 currently)

Demons:  From succubi to djinn, to nightmarish creatures with countless eyes, or a mass of slimy tentacles right out of Cthulu myth, demons come in countless shapes or sizes and are as alien in their thinking as you can get, while some go out of their way to blend in so they can leave a trail of corrupted souls behind them.  Strength for them, is everything, but strength comes in almost as many flavors, and often it's the unassuming ones you should be the most terrified by.  (2/4)

Cultists:  Every book holder inevitably ends up gaining the attention of willing followers, people who wish to learn real magic from someone willing to teach them, to those who simply wish to experience pleasure they can scarcely imagine in even their most depraved dreams.  Careful though, some aren't fans of waiting, and will take steps to kill a book holder if their desire for power is too great.  (Currently no limit)

Hunters:  While they're a largely disorganized lot, consisting of people who have come across something genuinely supernatural and not only survived the encounter, but have come to hate it with a passion, most are only slightly stronger and faster than the average person.  True hunters, as those who hail from the Order of the Silver Rose, are experts in the occult and have used that knowledge to stand toe to toe against full demons while doing their utmost to keep the population completely in the dark.  As such, they're good at infiltrating areas where demons tend to make their homes, or where suspicious magical activity is detected.  The last time such activity was discovered though, was the Roanoke Colony, where everyone just disappeared without a trace in 1590.  The Silver Rose, founded in ancient times, had found clear sign of a demonic presence, and had isolated the entire colony in a pocket dimension, only returning it once their job was done, sans people.  They've only grown stronger, more organized, and better trained in most cases since the early days.  (1/7 currently)

Ravished Knot cultists:  The granddaddy of cults, the Knots are the Silver Rose's depraved counterparts.  Their influence is felt from every shadow, with many members having ties or alliances with various criminal enterprises around the world, while the more seemingly mundane members acting as crooked cops, corrupt politicians, doctors, lawyers, and more besides, using their resources and talents to conceal and erase any and all evidence of their order's activities wherever they can.  A council of fourteen, seven humans and seven demons, leads and guides the rest of their members, while the rest ply their various trades to collect resources, sacrifices, wealth, and more, all so they can hold their dark celebrations and depraved rituals upon prearranged times.  New members typically consist of those who won't be missed, while the rest are brought in by family members and long standing friends among the cult.  (1/7 leadership roles.  Regular, new, or senior members have no limit currently)

Order of the Silver Rose - The Order has existed since the first demons pushed their way through the dimensional divide thousands of years ago.  They have done their absolute best to keep the general public blind to the supernatural, while fighting them with everything they have at their disposal, which is far more than most would consider possible.  While it takes an entire cell to destroy just one fully entrenched demon, destroy its followers, and to clean up the mess left behind, often by removing entire city blocks from this dimension and hiding it in a pocket dimension until all trace of their enemies' influence is erased, leaving those innocent caught in the crossfire either with their memories modified, or those who were actively aiding the demons dragged off to their secret bases to be....reprogrammed and cleansed, the Order are quite circumspect in their recruiting methods.  They only take those that they can mold into successful operatives, and while their training is the best since their elders, of which there are nine, all come from some kind of military background such as American Special Forces, MI6, the CIA, and more besides, the average Hunter are little better than Sam and Dean Winchester in terms of resources and skills.  The closer one is to the actual Order however, the more things become messed up as new recruits face greater and greater threats, anything from malicious spirits, to demons just trying to hide out in the human world, to full on demonic gods that would make Cthulhu run for the darkest reaches of space he could find.

The Order operates in cells, with only the nine elders having the whole picture.  All of the elders come from extremely old family lines, each specializing in a form of anti-demon fighting and supernatural abilities that, while some are all too obviously steeped in demon magic, all are geared towards destroying the threat that the enemy poses.  They've long since adopted the motto you have to fight fire with fire, since religious iconography doesn't work, reading from a Bible ends up with the would be exorcist being laughed at before summarily being disemboweled, and so called 'holy weapons' are mere annoyances.  Heavy arms fire however, flames from a flamethrower, often augmented by enchantments, and simply snapping a human sized demon's neck are all viable ways to deal with the more common variety of demonic invaders and hideaways.  The bigger, much more powerful threats are a much harder to contend with, requiring entire teams of Order sorcerers and wizards to restrain and nullify their powers, but the strongest of the Order's magical practitioners can do this on their own while their compatriots mop up what's left.

The Ravished Knot - For every Silver Rose cell, there's a cult set to counter them, but one stands above the rest for having survived since this shadow war began.  Sath'tan herself has worked alongside these secretive demon worshipers, having partook of more than one of their dark celebrations and the like, and had, at one time, even helped a group of their faithful set up a safe haven in Pompeii before its neighbouring volcano erupted, or rather it was set off by the Silver Rose.  What little is known about the Ravished Knot is that they survive by having agents in almost every illicit enterprise there is, which has allowed them to secure alliances with drug lords, various mob bosses, crooked cops, and slave traffickers just to name a few.  In exchange for their aid in keeping their allies out of prison, cleaning up crime scenes, and more besides, the Knot uses their influence in various courts of law and office, to keep their activities in cities around the world from being discovered while accruing sacrifices, rare reagents, and drugs from their underworld connections for their depraved rituals and ceremonies.  Those trusted enough are quietly brought in and initiated in Knot fashion, often through ritualistic sex with other members and their demonic allies, and magical bindings to ensure silence should they ever be caught and questioned.  Those who are caught, unless the bindings are broken before they can be activated, often suffer seemingly mundane deaths such as fatal heart attacks or brain bursting tumors and the like.

Unlike most cults with any history, assuming the Silver Rose hasn't wiped them from existence, the members of the Knot know that demons are not their slaves, and anyone caught abusing their dark allies are quickly dealt with in brutal, often fatal and drawn out fashion in full view of the gathered since executions are used as a warning to the rest.  The leaders are balanced between humans and demons, with seven on either side deciding such things as who should become a member, who should be allowed to stay, when and where their next gathering will be held, and much more besides, with each meeting of the council often devolving into a mass of writhing flesh and bodies locked in carnal bliss.  Recruitment into the Knot typically happens where people won't be missed.  Fresh converts are given hope, albeit at a price, and through a number of trials meant to corrupt them inside and out while introducing them to greater depravity, are made willing and devout followers of their dark ways.

Possibly interested as a book-holder, with powers focused on transformation, both self and others, possibly involving demon symbiotes.

A couple questions: do we have to have a single main demon companion as a defined character?  And what exactly do you mean by "casual ons" and "casual offs"?  Is that things the character finds attractive that aren't directly sexual?

Vergil1989

Casual offs/ons are like do they like listening to music, reading fantasy, just casual hobbies and stuff.  :D

As for the magic thing, transformations are always fun, but keeping a low profile is key as I've said before.  But no, you DON'T need to have a demon companion, it's only there if you actually desire one, OR if someone wants to take the role of a demon companion for you.

IMPORTANT UPDATE as of October 6th 2016 in A/A page

ZincStandard

Alright, makes sense.  Don't worry, my character will be well aware of the importance of keeping a low profile.

Here's what I've got.  Not sure what point in the story you want to jump in at, whether it's just before the characters find their books, just after, once they've had them a while and started to experiment, or whatever you had in mind; I'm happy to rewind on the bio if you think it puts things too far ahead right away.

Name: Anais Roche
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Type: Magician (book-user)
Magical Specialty: Biomancy, spells that manipulate life and alter the bodies of living creatures.  A highly versatile field for a creative practitioner, biomancy can be used for anything from cosmetic modification, to healing, to granting the user or a subject superhuman physical abilities.  Anais has had particular success with a few spells that involve the grafting of symbiotic entities into her own body, and is eager to experiment further.

Appearance: Until recently, Anais hardly looked her eighteen years, barely five feet and a hundred pounds soaking wet.  This caused her no small amount of pain and envy throughout adolescence, as she watched all her friends grow up and develop sex appeal she felt she never got, and since acquiring her book, she's been making...modifications.  In the past few weeks, she's shot up almost six inches, and the hormone fairy seems to have paid a visit in impressive fashion.  Since starting her freshman year of college, she's been working on leaving her shell, dressing less conservatively and displaying newfound confidence, though she's still far from a social butterfly.  Of course, she's been careful to keep the more drastic changes a complete secret...
Anais' modifications
Ever cautious, Anais started out with small, cosmetic alterations--making herself taller, curvier, clearer skin and healthier hair, little things like that.  When that all worked, she stepped it up with more complex changes, like demonic tissue grafts to enhance her metabolism and immune system and stimulate muscle growth, though still nothing mundane genetics couldn't give the fortunate.  The book warned of side effects, and she did start to notice a few, like how she needed to eat a lot more, and went from masturbating maybe once a week to at least once a day, but it was nothing she couldn't handle.  It wasn't long before she felt bold enough to attempt a procedure that had caught her eye more than once while flipping through the book, titled "The Calling, Binding, and Implantation of the Aphotic Symbiont".

The book described a parasitic entity that, in its natural state, would invade a host's body, take control of their mind, and use them as a vehicle to hunt and spread its offspring; it also explained how the proper bindings could lobotomize it so that it would essentially behave as an appendage of its host, who would control it fully.  The results were everything Anais had hoped and more.  The implanted symbiont takes the form of a tentacle-like organ that emerges from her vagina, nearly a foot and a half long when fully extended, and capable of retracting within her body when she wants to hide it.  The organ functions as an ovipositor, yielding a solution of microscopic eggs and nutrient mucus; while the creature would normally compel its host to infect victims with its eggs, they can also be used as a powerful and versatile reagent in many rituals.  While Anais appreciates the utility, she mostly just enjoys having a tentacle cock, even if she has no plans to ever reveal it to or use it on anyone.  It does increase her appetite to the point where she eats noticeably more than most people, and can be rather distracting at times, but she finds the fun more than worth it.

Personality: To most, Anais is so quiet and shy as to be practically invisible.  Most would assume she's just a sweet-tempered, socially anxious nerd; only those few who have made an effort to get to know her know about her unusual interests and hobbies, like gory horror movies and occult mythology.  Despite her lifelong fascination with the macabre and horrific, Anais never really believed in magic or demons or anything supernatural--until she started experimenting with the book, that is.  While she's undeniably intrigued by the power magic offers, and wouldn't pretend there aren't many people she fantasizes about getting revenge on, she doesn't really want to hurt anyone.  She's well aware that what she's tampering with is dangerous, and determined to use it...well, not for good, exactly, but not for anything really evil at least.  Of course, when magic is involved, things rarely stay that simple...

Sexual Orientation: Bisexual.  Anais is a virgin and has never had a relationship, but she knows she's attracted to men and women both.

Bio: The idea of ever having any sort of power always seemed a distant fantasy for Anais.  At school, she was the nerdy weirdo no one wanted to hang out with, mocked and bullied by her female classmates, invisible to her male ones.  At home, the shadow of her father's scorn and bitterness hung over her constantly.  Being a straight-A student was a small comfort.  Horror stories and gory movies and fake black magic offered release, a way to let out all the frustration and anger when no one else was looking.

She'd lived in New York all her life, born into affluence if not fabulous wealth, the daughter of a bank manager and a stay-at-home mom.  She was only six when her mother was killed by a driver whose brakes had failed.  That was when it started with her dad...or maybe it was only then that she realized what kind of person he really was.  He never hit her, but she sometimes wished he would, just so she could write him off completely, instead of tearing herself apart wishing he'd stop looking at her like a burden and a disappointment.

Then, one night, while sheltering from her tormentors in a used book shop, she stumbled on an innocuous little black book without a title.  Figuring the rituals described within for more silly diversions, she tried out one said to summon a being that would answer any three yes-or-no questions.

She didn't even get as far as the first one she'd written down before panicking, screaming out the banishment command.

It took her a month to work up the courage to even look at the book again, this time with fresh eyes.  She contemplated destroying it, but that could bring some kind of curse on her, if it even worked.  She thought about throwing it away, but then it would just end up in someone else's hands.  None of that mattered, though, because she didn't want to give it up--she needed to know more.  She wasn't going to be reckless about it, though.  She'd take it slow, start small, try one thing at a time, make sure no one found out and nothing got out of her control.  It wasn't hard to decide what she wanted.  She wanted what she'd never had: power.  Beauty.  Sex appeal.  There were times, certainly, when she contemplated revenge, but those thoughts never lasted long.  That wasn't who she was.  And there was no way something like that wouldn't get out of hand immediately.

She hardly noticed the last weeks of high school pass by, and when she stayed shut up in her room all summer, it looked like business as usual to everyone else.  The promise of college called to her, a fresh start, her chance to shed the cocoon and begin a whole new life where no one would remember the old Anais.  She stepped up her experiments, testing her skills with more difficult spells, getting ready.  No one was going to ignore her or bully her anymore.  Not ever.

Casual ons: Horror fiction, goth music, drawing, poetry.
Casual offs: Sports, shopping, dating apps.
Sexual ons: Romance, monsters, light bloodplay, transformation, tentacles.
Sexual offs: Being degraded, being restrained, noncon, toilet play.

Vergil1989

That's actually fine.  As long as people aren't already super powerful masters of their various 'crafts' or areas of studies, I don't see a problem with what you've put together Zinc, so you're good as far as I can see.  Personality and your background could use a little more, and she DOES need to be a year older more for my personal comfort than anything related to E.  I just feel comfortable with 18 and older is all.  :D  As for my own character, she's more to give an idea of just how inhuman these guys can be.  She pretends, she's really good at pretending she's a mundane, everyday gal, but in truth she's ALIEN! with a capital ALIEN!.  She could give a damn about this planet full of apes barely evolved enough to scratch their own asses.  :P  That and I figured I'd at least get someone I can throw at you guys if things get slow or what have you.  I'll finish up soon, just getting a good picture for her real face has taken a huge amount of time since I wanted something that was still vaguely human, but otherworldly at the same time.

EDIT:  I was able to get a ton of stuff into her note section.  Feel free to peruse when you get the chance.  Nothing too detailed at the moment, but it should give a little bit of needed intel for you guys.

Real Name:  Sath'tan
Alias:  Lilith Takemi
Real Age:  3,000 years old.  (Barely into her 30s in human terms)
Her 'human' Age:  24  'Born' July 1st, 1994
Gender:  Female.  (Technically futa since demons can change their appearance at will.)
Book Holder:  No, but she prefers a few spells running the gamut from blood magic, meant to cause extreme arousal and mental domination in her victims, erasing or modifying memories to keep her supernatural activities a secret, to causing corruption within anyone she hangs around long enough.  She's also able to summon tentacles and demons from her home dimension.  Just because she can't go home again doesn't mean she can't bring home to her.
Sath'tan's spells
This isn't a comprehensive list, but they are the ones she uses the most often when she can get away with it.
Blood Manipulation:  Just as it it says on the tin, Sath'tan can manipulate the blood inside of a person or an animal with near flawless ease.  This can be anything from twisting the limbs of a person until they snap, to paralyzing someone on the spot, or inducing various mental and emotional states as she desires, often without the victim being the wiser to the change.  Anything from budding if crippling arousal, to uncontrollable rage, to even outright manipulating someone's memory, although this last one takes a considerable amount of effort to pull off since a victim must be mentally weak or unconscious from strenuous activity such as sexual congress, severe stress or disbelief, or having been subjected to some form of torture.
Blood Magic:  Unlike her manipulation ability, Blood Magic allows her to pull the very liquid from a person's veins to fuel her power so she can summon demons from her home dimension to do her bidding.  Typically she has to cut someone first before she can draw any blood from them in such a way, but humans are so fragile.  The bigger the sacrifice, willing or otherwise, the more she can do.  She typically keeps a spare sacrifice for her summoned minions to do with as they please, but the 'purer' the offering, the more power she can get from their blood.  She can also her power over blood to read a person's mind, often resulting in extreme mental anguish for the victim, as well as boil someone's blood while it's still in their veins, although she has to use some of her own to pull that off.  Turning someone's blood into razor sharp crystals and having those explode outward is exceedingly messy, and isn't easily covered up, but sometimes she just wants to see someone die in mind rending agony.  She can slow it down, make the crystals very small so that they tear up someone over a long period of time, prolonging the pain and her personal enjoyment in the same breath.  She CAN use her own blood, but while powerful, it leaves her weak to do so for too long or for something too big for her to handle alone.  There are alternative sources of power, such as cum or vaginal fluid, but collecting it is too much trouble at times, especially if she's in an emergency situation, and it doesn't typically last long outside the body in any event.
Corruption:  It comes in a few flavors, but the most common is her ability to corrupt her environment.  Her house in the Hamptons hasn't been given the corruption treatment yet, but most of her other establishments and homes around the world are 'marked' by her presence in some way or another, allowing the walls to 'bleed' on her command, opening small holes between the dimensional divide that seal up quickly once they're no longer in use.  The corruption is a physical manifestation of her home dimension, allowing it to consume and change everything it touches.  The walls pulsate, the floor becomes slick with fluid, and the ceiling often contains tentacles and sucking appendages, all meant to induce pleasure in a victim, or to hold them still as their skin is slowly flayed off an inch at a time.  In an actual person who spends too much time around her however, it's....different, in that she manifests microscopic amounts of her home plane's influence just by being in the same room.  Over a long period of time, a person's personality changes, becoming more aggressive, more prone to sexual activity, and ultimately more suggestible towards....darker forms of entertainment and self preservation.  Crime becomes easy, drug abuse is natural, and debasing themselves becomes a pastime at its most extreme level.  Time away from Sath'tan or her marked homes and establishments helps, but it takes almost as long to purge corruption in this fashion as it does to gain it in the first place.  Magical cleansings are an option, although the survival rate is questionable depending on the method used, but repeated, prolonged exposure seems to work faster in someone who's been cleansed in such a fashion as the soul has been weakened by these opposing forces.  And after a certain point, cleansing is no longer an option in any event.
Demon companion:  Currently no.  (Open for someone to take over though.)
Appearance
Current form

Personality:  'Lilith' is desire personified.  While she's currently masquerading as a young college student going for a Masters in business, (she's gotten several under various names), she absolutely hates it on Earth.  She hates the apes that have taken over a world that should've belonged to her kind eons ago, but until the day comes that she can drop her charade, she's content to party, fuck, and corrupt anyone she can get her claws on without the greater population being any the wiser.  Normally she appears as a tame, sedate college girl from a good family, with quite a bit of money at her beck and call.  In reality, she's probably one of the single most influential people to walk across the street, with at least a small crowd of lost, soon to be corrupted humans hot on her heels which she gladly sets loose on the world to further spread chaos and discord wherever they go once she's grown tired of them.  Those same people normally don't have a clue of what she's done to them, leaving their families to wonder why their star pupils and athletes have taken up drugs, casual sex, and worse.  But with the resurgence of the books finding new owners, her hope of taking this world from humanity, which had been vacant for hundreds of years, has started to return once more....
Sexual Orientation:  Pansexual.  There's very few people she wouldn't fuck, literally or otherwise.
Bio:  Three thousand years ago, Sath'tan was sent to Earth with a very specific mission.  Take several magical spell books to another world, and slowly wear down the walls between realities, allowing the rest of her kind to flood through the tears, consuming all in their path.  It was a task she was happy to perform, except someone she once trusted, as far as demons could trust each other, decided to screw her.  Tricking her into making it so the books would only accept those they deemed worthy of their contents, that had the most potential to fall the farthest, given time, thus drawing them closer to their Hellish dimension through their own actions, Sath'tan used her considerable magic to bind the books in the way her 'friend' had recommended since it seemed like a good idea at the time.  It was only after it was done did she realize her mistake, and that her superiors received an anonymous tip she knew had come from her former ally.  Lilith, once it was discovered the books had taken on a mind of their own as an unexpected side effect of her spell, was exiled to Earth to live out the rest of her eternal life until she had undone her mistake, or until the dimensional barriers had been torn down, whichever came first.  Unfortunately she made her spell too well, ensuring the nature of the books would never be altered again, even by her.

She spent the first thousand years in hiding, watching the world change from the shadows.  She watched entire empires rise and fall, cities springing from the dust only to sink back into the muck, and technology began to leap forward well beyond anything even she'd have ever imagined.  Despite growing to absolutely loath the humans that soon overtook the world that should've been theirs a long time ago, Lilith, as she'd started to call herself, slowly came out of hiding and integrated herself with those same filthy beasts she so despised.  In fact, she grew to love being able to manipulate them, of making them forget the more supernatural aspects of her very presence, while leaving them corrupted, broken shells of their former selves.  The 'purer' or more talented the individual, the more she enjoyed tearing them down, stripping away their morals and better qualities, introducing them to a world of depravity they could have never of imagined without her 'guidance'.  Having since gravitated to New York, Lilith has taken to masquerading as a college student, attending one of the most popular colleges in the state under the charade of obtaining a Masters degree in business.  In truth, she's sensed the return of the books, and the fact that they've started to pair off with their chosen human counterparts hasn't escaped her notice.  As such, she is very excited to see what comes next, and to help....guide those that are so reluctant to push the limits of their newfound power.
Casual ons:  Hot cocoa, heavy metal, cheer-leading, swimming, well cooked meals, books that make her think, and surprisingly, long walks through nature trails and the like.  Has a fondness for dogs, although they tend to glow with fire and have burning yellow eyes by the time she's done with them.  Purity is something she immensely enjoys in stripping away as well.
Casual offs:  Religion, not because it hurts her, she just hates it on principle.  Reality TV, no, just no.  Cats, idiots, and dubstep music, if it can be called music anyway.
Sexual ons:  BDSM, tentacles, futanari, drugs, partying, drinking, bloodplay, piercings, tattoos, collars (magical of course), dubious consent, corrupting the innocent/pure/talented, blindfolds, gags, handcuffs, sensory play, etc.  (There isn't a lot she WON'T do.)
Sexual offs:  Beasts, incest, outright rape, death, mutilation, bathroom play

Hell Dimension notes - Hell has a very rigid hierarchy ruled by the strongest alone, with the top demons being near god like, if not actual gods among their kind.  While everything from the lowliest demon to those same god kings and queens can be summoned, assuming enough power and their true name is discovered, the highest ranking demons have large, city sized kingdoms full of their 'loyal' subjects.  Loyalty is fluid, but the chaos is at least controlled for the most part, allowing for a great deal of safety for the cautious and the wary.  However, demons come in a dizzying array of shapes, sizes, and more, and strength can come in quite a few flavors.  Intelligence, charisma, raw power, magical aptitude, it matters little, only that the individual demon stands out from the crowd.  Someone like Sath'tan has more than made herself distinguished, despite being exiled, and has dragged more humans down than any demon that's been sommoned by mistake by a people that has forgotten that magic and monsters are more than myth.  Having said that, demons don't care about the guilty, only that if someone isn't stupid enough to get caught.  Sath'tan is the perfect example of what not to do, and her only real mistake was trusting another of her fellow demons, who ended up betraying her after tricking her into doing his bidding.  As such, her superiors, despite having likely figured it out, only punished her because she'd been stupid enough to fall for such a trick.  Revenge however, is her to claim, should she be fortunate enough to find the 'man' responsible for her exile on Earth a little over three thousand years ago now and counting.

Lilith's current home
Her New York estate in the Hamptons is isolated enough that there's little chance her demonic undertakings will ever be discovered, while giving her a measure of luxury and comfort she couldn't find anywhere else in this particular city.  On the surface, the estate and its surrounding grounds look utterly mundane, and for the most part there's nothing special about the place other than its one of the most expensive plots of land in the entire state.  She's made some....modifications however to the basement area, having turned it into her personal playroom full of every toy one could possibly imagine, while ensuring it's completely sound proofed for her privacy, and to ensure that no one can hear her playthings' screams as she ravishes their every hole to her heart's content.  Not that many ever leave her little playroom nothing short of completely satisfied and blissed out of their minds of course.

Ok.... I'm gonna just save a spot here. You know I can't resist playing a demon  >:) Let me know if anyone is interested in a male Jinn type demon so I can work on a character sheet....

Vergil1989

I'm just happy you accepted my invite Shii.  :D  Do you mean a Djinn type of demon or something else, because the only Djinn types I know of are usually evil genies that purposely screw over people.  Either way, I'm curious, and 'Lilith' could use someone she can actually rely upon, someone to run her businesses or what have you until she's 'old enough' in her current human disguise to take over as she usually does.  And no, there won't be a betrayal, or someone taking over what's hers, so get rid of that idea.  :P

Oh yeah I couldn't miss it  ;D   Why yes I do mean Djinn. They are a bit more complicated than that but yes. Hmmm I'll have to think about that. Sounds like a tempting offer.....

Really, how so?  I'm genuinely curious about what you know, especially since all I know about Djinn came from some old movies collectively called Wishmaster.  ;D

To everyone else, to clarify, the setting will be in and around a college campus area.  It's in the center of New York, so whatever you'd expect as far as businesses and the like would be up for grabs.  I also have a fair amount on the Hell dimension in Sath'tan's notes section, as well as her estate in the Hamptons that will likely be a place for people to visit and/or wind up her personal plaything.  Mostly she'll just have wild parties full of drugs, alcohol, and orgies most likely.  :P

Mildly important notice.  :D

I've added some acceptable ideas for character concepts for you guys to consider.  While I'm open to suggestions, those are the ones I see getting the most attention currently.  I'm limiting demon spots pretty severely only because they're the most powerful, with the Hunters from the Order of the Silver Rose being a close second.  I haven't detailed them yet, both because I only just thought of them lol, but also because I'm curious what you guys might come up with.  Anyway, see ya!

IMPORTANT UPDATE as of October 6th 2016 in A/A page

TheHangedOne

Name: Erik Smith
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Book Holder: Yes: The Book of Dubious Draughts, Calamitous Concoctions, Prosperous Philters, Exciting Elixirs, and Perverse Potions: In addition to being perhaps the most long-winded of books, both in terms of names and in its actual volume, and tendency to drone on and on for forever, this book contains all the necesarry information to both cultivate ingredients for, and how to properly brew, all manner of elixirs, potions, teas, brews, and so on and so forth. This Book essentially turns someone into an alchemist, though turning lead into gold pales in comparison to what other things it can do. Most potions brewed in the correct manner (there's always room for error; don't want to brew it too long, too short, at the wrong temperature, need precise measurements, etc.) have a desired effect, and a length to them. Minimalist changes can generally be drawn out for long periods of time, while stronger draughts tend to have little lasting power; sure it might be impressive to assume a demonic visage, and all the strength it entails, but that's going to last you a minute at most, and then you're back to normal... and you probably ruined whatever you were wearing and/or carrying with you, too. Something like cat vision, which is a minimal change in the grand scheme of things, could easily last a week; but you'd constantly be having to harvest more ingredients, make more potions, etc. because these things are all temporary.

Furthermore, the 'weight' or 'cost' of ingredients scale appropriately. You want to assume a demonic form? Good luck getting some ground up devil horn, or blood from one of them. You want to make an aphrodisiac potion to spike the punch bowl with? You're gonna need a lot of... sexual fluids. Want another hundred years of youth or the like? Good job, you're going to become a murderer, because you're gonna need all that vital essence stored in the body, and I can guarantee you that is going to be a bitter brew.

While the book might be able to accomplish what other books can, the main point is that all effects are temporary; he might be able to make a magical 'bomb' (think alchemist's fire from D&D), but that's nothing compared to someone that can just throw a fireball around on a whim, as said magic bomb would require days of cultivating ingredients (if you can't just outright purchase them), and hours of brewing. He might be able to make a sort of 'polymorph potion' (again, inspired by D&D), but it's going to last a few hours or a day at most; a minute or two at the least. While the book is very versatile, it also requires dedication and precision, and its ability to emulate pales in comparison to the actual Books it can replicate (a potion that vaguely accomplishes the same thing as the Book of Symbiosis is capable of producing, for instance, might be a great idea to see if you're comfortable with the actual change... but you could end up spending so much time brewing potions, you can't actually enjoy the change). Also, potions have an expiry date on them; when you're combining demon semen with phosphorous, sulphur, essential oil of mint, and a whole frog, you don't exactly get a stable mixture that can sit on your shelf for years. And you can't just add a stabilizer to it to extend its shelf life; that would just throw off the mystic balance.

For beginners, most of his potions and the like are going to be based off of replicating intoxicating substances. As he works with alcohol already, making something like 400! proof (or 200% alcohol by volume) is probably one of the first things he could A) afford to make, and B) Understand how to make. But in time, replicating drugs, even 'purifying' them so you don't have the risk of physical addiction or the 'down' that comes from taking things (imagine a 24 hour acid trip with no risk of it going bad, and no come-down period) are a next logical step... then we start getting into the really weird things.

Demon companion: Khajiit the Cat (short-furred, black, with a white, heart-shaped splotch of white on his chest) [Actually not a demon, and just his pet cat... for now]
Hunter: Nope.
Appearance: At 5'6, and 200 lbs, Erik is a little shorter than average, though he looks far slimmer than his weight would suggest (he wears it well). He has shoulder-blade length brown hair with naturally occurring blond highlights, which have, in years past, been the envy of many girls; lustrous locks like those don't come around naturally all that often. He has brown eyes, but likes to fool around with cosmetic contact lenses; you know, the sort that make you look like you have cat eyes or the like.
Personality: Quirky to the point that some of his Pagan friends have called him either a changeling or "Fae-taken",  he delights in puzzles, riddles, and enigmas. He likes to learn new things for the sake of learning them, and generally seems content to just be left alone to do whatever it is he is doing (which currently is bartending, where he likes to experiment with mixology).
Sexual Orientation: Bring on the girls!
Bio: Something of a savant when it came to life, he coasted by more on innate talent than actually learning, until he slammed into a glass ceiling and found out that maybe he should have paid better attention in high school instead of just trying to outmaneuver and outtrick everyone with his keen insights and perceptive mind. He eventually found contentment in studying to be a mixologist (that being a fancy name for a bartender that serves fancy drinks), but above and beyond that, he took an interest in homebrewing as well. He saw so many potentialities in the mixing and matching,  and joy in the process of experimentation; even when the drink was an utter failure, it simply taught him something new.

Some people might take that as an indicator that he is an optimistic fellow. He's much more middling then that, however; he is deeply discontent when failures produce nothing worth learning, hates 'snobs' (the definition of which seems to change from month to month), and loves to people watch. He finds social interactions draining, however. He enjoys studying occult things from time to time, ultimately hoping to recreate some of the 'magical elixirs' mentioned in many old school legends and tales.

He considers himself an Animist, and views concepts like Good and Evil (notice the arbitrary capitalization) as basically being non-existent [which may be an attitude that changes, given the story; but it is his starting point]. He likes philosophy, and cultures, finding these enigmas in particular to be hard to solve, and therefore, all the more fun when he makes some progress in it. He also does not believe in what most people commonly call Chaos, instead opting to opine that "there is an order we know, and an order we do not know. Everything is ordered; therefore, Chaos can not exist", which probably sounds better on paper, and in person (where he can be quite passionate), but may--again--be an idea that changes when his cognition is challenged hard enough.

His taste in music is pretty eclectic, citing quite accurately that the only things he will not listen to are "rap and country", but he shows a strong preference towards electronic music, and everything that falls under that umbrella.  Perhaps strangely, he also enjoys some of the old school, hard rock and roll and metal; Black Sabbath and Metallica, for instance, with some Grunge (He might have grown up post Kurt Cobain, but he does love Nirvana). He often likes to incorporate musical references, and more obscure things, into his common communication, resulting in someone who can be quite the enigma all on his own.

Ultimately, he's a bit of a weirdo, but he does his job well, has an awkward sort of charm about him, and often ascribes cat-like traits to himself (he actually is light sensitive, and so does see better in low light conditions; good agility and sense of balance; a mercurial attitude; and he's all but perfected the Cheshire Grin).

Born in Massachusetts, with an older brother and a younger sister, he was the somewhat stereotypical middle child that got ignored; left to his own devices. He was content to slip under the radar, as it were.  His parents were hardcore atheists, but in their own way, rebels that flaunted the system; the father was a stay at home dad, a 'house spouse', while his mother was a geneticist. His interest in the occult and becoming an Animist could be seen as an extension of his 'rebellious teen phase', in a sort of... mirror of what happens with people born into religious families but then deviate towards agnosticism or atheism.

To the best of his knowledge, his older brother went on to become a surgeon, and made their parents quite proud, sticking to the Boston area; meanwhile his sister eventually drifted off to who-knows-where. Her act of rebellion was to just up and skip town one day with her boyfriend, and she didn't even graduate high school (though she got a GED).

The bar he works at is somewhat upscale; some might call it posh, while others would call it a hipster place. He doesn't care who his clients are; he is just content to mix his drinks, and gather tips. He lives in a small studio apartment, and while it is nice in terms of location and layout, it's something he can barely afford to make ends meet with. He usually sells some of his home-brewed liquors on the side, which is pretty illegal, to help cover unexpected expenses.

He remains disconnected from his family, shunning most forms of social media (he does have facebook and the like to promote his skills and get people's interest in the bar, but this is done as a calculated way to drive up clientele and therefore the amount of tips he can make; turning it more into a chore than a passion).

He doesn't keep many friends, but does have a few regulars of the bar he enjoys the company of.  He's stayed in New York because that's where he ended up going to study mixology, and simply had no desire to move back to his place of birth.
Casual ons: Puzzles, riddles, enigmas, drinking, the smell of mint, chocolate, experimenting!
Casual offs: 'Snobs'[however he defines that, it's inconsistent], teetotalers, anti-science types, the overly devout.
Sexual ons: Sex hasn't played a big role in his life, as he tends to dedicate his time to work and experimentations. He's experimented a few times, but has not yet figured out what he likes [light BDSM is, in fact, his 'thing', he just hasn't figured it out yet]. He likes the classical hourglass figure on a woman.

Totally fair, Anais will be 18.  If you want this to focus on a college setting, shall we say she's a new freshman arriving for whatever semester is currently starting?  If she's just arriving at a new school, that'll change her behavior somewhat, as she'll probably flaunt her new look more and be a bit more confident, since she doesn't have to worry about people she's known for a long time getting suspicious of the sudden change.  Also, I think her specialty is gonna be biomancy, which is a little more broad and flexible while still keeping the theme of body manipulation and including the whole demon symbiote graft thing.  Oh, hey HangedMan, this is a little awkward.  Whether I expand Anais' specialty or not, the power set you describe is pretty much identical to what I'd pictured her using (though the squick levels might be a little different, and it sounds like yours might involve less tentacles).  I'd have no problem with another biomancer in the game, since the books all contain the same knowledge, and it could make for a good colleague or rival relationship between the two once they learn of each other's practice.  But if you want to differentiate things more, we can figure out a way.

Vergil, what kind of stuff are you looking for me to add to her personality and background?  Questions would help me develop her further.  Also, how much do you want to know about the changes she's made to her body already?  Not sure how much you want things our characters keep hidden to be open secrets OOC, or save them as surprises for when they come up.

As long as Vergil is okay with two people performing biological shenanigans, I'm game for it. And yeah, they could easily conspire; with or against each other. I also saw the underlying methodology and philosophy of the two books as being somewhat different.  And I think you nailed it on the head when you said 'less tentacles'... his book is probably a bit more squicky. If you wanted to branch things out a bit, maybe your character focuses on making/finding/binding stronger symbiotes, or even fusing two weaker ones together to produce a stronger/more varied one? They could make something a bit like Frankenstein's monster with these fusions (I was actually thinking something along the lines of Magatama from Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne when I glanced over your sheet), whereas my character is more about making people into monsters... or "angels", or whatever word he happens to want to use to describe them as.

Either way, I'm more than happy to change things around to make sure there's not too much overlap going on.

I've made some changes to the character sheet, mainly added a section for potential hunters, as well as a request that if you use an Avatar pic, it be sized to 300 and aligned to the right.

And to answer your question Zinc, freshman's fine if that's what you want to do.  :D  As for adding a bit more to your profile, just more about where she came from, if she loved her family, what were they like, were they religiously inclined, just stuff like that and how it affected her growing up.  Hopefully that'll help fill out a little more both for your personality and history, Zinc

Same for you Hanged, although I'm also happy to see ya.  :D  As for the overlap issue, I don't see it myself.  There's enough differences between your methods that I don't see a problem myself.  True, there COULD be a little more variety, but at the moment it's not a bad thing I say.

I guess my feeling on the overlap is, my main goal with Anais' powers was always to focus on the transformative aspect; the symbiote theme is just what I came up with as a suitably cool, creepy way for it to work, giving it a little more explanation and flavor.  Thing is, if you can achieve the exact same effects without having to shove slimy tentacled parasites into your favorite orifices, I don't really see why Anais would bother doing it her way, in-character.  When dealing with magic in these kinds of stories, I like to assume that nothing you want to do can come without some kind of horrific twist that you won't like, and you just have to decide if it's worth it or not; Anais would happily infest herself with demon parasites in exchange for superpowers if that was the only way to get them, but probably not if it wasn't, and anything she can do with less drastic modifications, she will.  Also, I guess I can't help but feel that, even if we describe our characters' methods as different, it won't really come across that well if the results are so similar, so it might be better to just lean into them being into the same stuff rather than try to distinguish them.  Just my thoughts.

I'll work on adding more to Anais' background going forward.  Vergil, let me know if there's anything in particular you want me to address that I seem to be neglecting.

TheHangedOne

Right. The price idea was in my head as well; what if something goes wrong, how do people cope psychologically with being changed, especially against their will, the actual pain of having what is essentially surgery done on you when you have nothing more than a good, stiff drink to anesthetize you.  But I can see where you're coming from, and you did have first dibs, so I'll sit down, and rework the character throughout the day.

Something I forgot, but as far as what's OOC and known to the players vs what's a secret, anything in a character sheet we might need to know should be visible.  You're more than fine to keep some of it vague of course, and I'm all for plot twists and stuff, but I at least need to know what you're thinking to some extent.  So if there's stuff you want to have happen to your character and you don't want to have off in your sheet, just send a message to my PM box or something.  That aside, everything should otherwise be visible at least in the sheet to some extent or another, but as our characters, we'd still have to discover it most likely.

And the way I'm going about my gal's blood magic is essentially a suped up version of blood magic right out of Dragon Age, with a bit of possible bloodbending from Avatar the Last Airbender and Legend of Korra.  She's more interested in causing arousal, manipulating a person's mind, while also leaving it open she can corrupt someone over a long period of time both through her unnatural charm and by changing the environment around her so that it resembles her home.  While not so much blood related, she's still a demon, and while she can't go home again, she can at least bring a little bit of home to her.  Makes it useful in keeping her playmates quiet while she has her fun at least if nothing else.   >:)

So I changed up the nature of the book. I basically went 'full [not metal] alchemist' with it. This new concept is based off of the idea of Narco-alchemy from Unknown Armies, though can obviously greatly exceed it, given enough time.

Also, I totally imagine a 400 proof whiskey being exactly the sort of thing that a demon could actually get drunk off of.

Okay that is actually genius Hanged.  I'm all for it.  ;D  Sath'tan would love your guy if he's able to get her drunk off her horned ass for a change without having to drink half of her own liquor cabinet, but joking aside, having a dedicated alchemist on her side would make for a very happy demon.  ;D  I've never heard of Unknown Armies, but the concept definitely appeals as does what you've created, especially since you and Zinc could easily make a fortune together by you giving people a sample of what could become permanent.

UA is a sadly very niche tabletop game that was overwhelmed by its competitors at the time; World of Darkness and Dungeons & Dragons. It still has a small core of hardcore dedicated gamers, and was a bit based off the Dresden Files, and a bunch of other things (there was actually the "dipsomancers" who cast magic by getting drunk off their ass; narco-alchemists made magical drugs, there was even Bibliomancers who acquired greater magical powers by gathering books, especially rare ones, and like two dozen others I can't recall). It was pretty neat, while it lasted, but there was all sorts of publishing issues and the like.

And yeah, I thought that the alchemy thing would be a good fit for him, while still providing some possible synergy with the real biomancer. He might be able to replicate a few things they can accomplish, but their effects are permanent; his wear off. Heck, if they really struck up some sort of trade deal, he could just dilute the potions, and be like "Here's a free one hour sample... drink responsibly [imp-like grin]".

Potions are always fun ;D

Added a little more about the modifications Anais has already done.  One in particular is kind of a big deal; let me know if it doesn't fit the game.

Huh, sorry to hear UA was all but forgotten since it sounds pretty fun to me.  Lol and nicely put there Hanged, I can just imagine that imp like smile already.  That aside, you DO need to add more to your history as Zinc has done, but otherwise I think you're good to go.

As for you Zinc, you're looking pretty good to me, and those modifications sound pretty good.  You COULD tone down her need to jerk off and eat a little bit more than you have, just so it's not quite so readily noticeable, but I am ALL FOR your girl having a tentacle cock slash ovipositor, so go nuts with that I say.  And she'll definitely be putting it to use, just so you know.  ;D

I'm not picturing it being that noticeable--she eats enough that someone might think "wow, she eats a lot for a girl her size", but not crazy amounts, and she doesn't desperately need to jerk off multiple times a day, or indeed at all, she just likes to when it's convenient.  And of course she'll be putting it to use, she just doesn't know it yet ;D  Anyway, glad to hear you like her; can't wait to see this get started!

Gotcha Zinc, thanks for clearin' that up.  :D

And Hanged, you have this funny habit of saying a lot of nothing.  :P  You have interesting information that could probably be added to his personality, but there's nothing in those new paragraphs that say where he calls home, what his family's like, or anything of that nature.  Does he have any siblings, relatives he's close to, does he have family in the military or church or what?  THAT kind of stuff needs to be included in your bio dude.  :D

MUCH better.  ;D  And there's nothing wrong with rambling, just be sure that it's relevant.  :P

Also to everyone else, I HAVE added some basic ideas for the Order of the Silver Rose if anyone wants to consider making a demon hunting badass.  I imagine they're somewhere between RWBY's Hunters and Huntresses in terms of combat ability, (Qrow during his fight with Tyrian levels of badass), the Winchester brothers from Supernatural, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer in terms of general power, ability, and resourcefulness.  NO there won't be full out Slayers or anything, but the general idea is that they're very, VERY magically inclined due to the nature of their enemies, so enhancing one's physical prowess, making entire city blocks kinda 'fade' out of existence without anyone being the wiser, things like that are perfectly acceptable.  You're more than able to expand on the myth of the Order if you guys wish to do so, just use what I've put up as a base to build upon.  :D

Cultists are just people who have decided to follow one of the book holders, and they can have a touch of magic as well, but since they're just humans with some power, they're not going to get their own section for notes or anything.

I've added a bit more information as to what's gonna be the general idea for story plot and the like into a basic premise section in the first post.  Hopefully that helps draw a little more attention our way, but I'm happy with the few people I've gotten already.  You guys are awesome, just so you know.  ;D

EDIT:  On a VERY important side note, the stuff added to the Basic Premise in regards to going out and hunting demons and stuff, is completely optional.  You need not make a character that's geared towards fighting since the 'Dark Plot' won't be forced on anyone that'd rather sit out on those particular aspects.

IMPORTANT UPDATE as of October 6th 2016 in A/A page

legomaster00156

Well, I can give this a shot. Let me know if I need to change anything.

Name: Violet Jones-Raine
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Book Holder: No
Demon companion: N/A
Hunter: Yes, she is with the Order of the Silver Rose. She specializes in magic, particularly the somewhat obscure art of alchemy. She cooks up magically infused liquids in her laboratory, ranging from potions to poisons to liquid weaponry. Her magic talent outside of this art is considerable, but undertrained. When it comes to combating the forces of evil, she prefers to use caution and a magically enhanced firearm.
Appearance: She was actually born with quite a different body than she has now, but a lot of taste-testing her own alchemical concoctions has earned Violet a stunning adult body. A Causacian woman, she looks a bit older than she actually is, and sports stunning blonde hair that never seems to grow past her shoulders (it actually can't, thanks to an unanticipated side effect of one of her recipes). She takes pride in her body, despite the fact that much of it came about by accident. [Corresponding picture below.]
On the sexual side of things, she doesn't exactly have a stripper's form. She keeps on well-covering clothes, which hide her smaller breasts easily. Her other curves are equally well-hidden; she isn't often the object of lust in a given room, which suits her just fine.
Personality: Violet is not the first Order hunter in her family, and a harsh, strict upbringing has left her a bit detached. She can put on airs easily, sure. She can laugh, flirt, blend in. This hides a deeply serious woman beneath, one whose entire life was molded around the sole purpose of keeping a world safe from a danger it doesn't know exists.
In her daylight persona, Violet is a face among millions of faces. She is intentionally mundane. She makes no mention of her family history, except to say that her parents are kind but pushy. She rarely makes close friends, mostly for the fact that the secret of a double life burns within her, urging her to share the secret with someone, anyone outside of the Order.
Among the Order, she is, in fact, more at ease, even though her business-before-pleasure attitude keeps her from showing it. If the Order isn't at work training, studying, or hunting (one or more of which is usually the case), she lets her guard down and talks about recent advancements in her life and work.
Sexual Orientation: Violet is asexual, but not opposed to sex. She has no attraction whatsoever to fellow women, though, and would prefer to sate her human urges with men.
Bio:
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Born in the South to a pair of hunters in the Order of the Silver Rose, Violet knew her entire life of a secret world lurking just beyond the veil of mundanity. By day, she was like any other girl: a cute little brunette, going to school and making friends. In the privacy of the home, though, she was the future of the Silver Rose, and her parents made sure she knew it.
Growing up as a scion of the Order of the Silver Rose meant being privy to secrets none of her friends knew. She had the innocence of youth to shield her and the Order whenever she talked with friends about how her parents were secret agents, monster hunters, or whatever else. Nobody believed her, after all. Many teachers were concerned about her fascination with demons, but shrugged it off whenever her parents promised to "have a talk with her". Most of the time, these talks were just spankings, which eventually clued the child in to stop talking about her double life.
She started learning the basics of the world of magic and evil when she was eight years old, being taught to read myths from every religion, and to find the truth hidden between the lines. As her parents told her, no one religion ever got all of the details right, but many got some parts of it. By age 11, she was learning basic spells from the Order's tomes, learning how to exorcise minor demons and kill them.
Her magical talent became clear early on, and her love for chemistry became a love for the exotic art of alchemy. Nobody in her own cell was familiar enough with alchemy to teach her, and so they changed, moving up to New York and finding a cell with a proper mentor for her.
The move from rural countryside to big city was a culture shock for the young girl. The new cell welcomed her family with open arms, helping to connect them with local resources and a new home. Violet became withdrawn from her new school, deciding to double down on her magical studies instead. She coasted through her mundane classes on intellect alone, scoring barely passing grades, while her alchemical talent grew in strides.
Over the years, Violet's own prowess with potions surpassed her own mentor. She learned to create her own recipes, with more than a couple accidents along the way. She created a personal laboratory in her apartment when she moved out of the house in which to experiment. Mundane ingredients like garlic can be found on the same shelf as feathers of extinct birds and teeth from beasts of all shapes and sizes.
Of course, she still has her double life. Keeping up appearances, she attends her college classes and works as a waitress at an upper-end restaurant (owned by another member of her Order cell). She is dedicated entirely to her true cause, though: the protection of humanity.

Casual ons: The best way to Violet's heart is through the mind. She has an above-average (some may argue genius-level) intellect, and showing an interest in science or magic (or the combination of these) warms her up to someone. She enjoys board games as a hobby. Her phone is filled with various gaming apps, including staples like chess and more childish games like Trouble or Sorry.
Casual offs: Violet gets bored easily with trite conversations, but is loathe to end them out of politeness. She also dislikes nicknames, especially the overly common “Blondie”.
Sexual ons: As mentioned, Violet is asexual, and little turns her on. Body modification is likely to appeal to what sexual desire Violet has. Those brave enough to try some of her more “exotic” alchemical concoctions may wind up with anything from new hair to an entirely new sex, but whatever they wind up with, she'll be turned on just by the fact that they tried (and, usually, she can manage to cook up an antidote). The idea of public sex is vaguely appealing to her, but she'd be unlikely to attempt it without the right partner and the perfect mood.
Sexual offs: She has no sexual interest in women, and overly pushy women are more likely to anger her than seduce her. She also dislikes the concept of bathroom play – she's not exactly sex-negative, but it disgusts her. She has too little experience with other fetishes to have developed any kind of opinion.

Face Claims:
Additional Notes/Photos/Music/etc

Recipe Book: Violet has a personal "cookbook" full of tried-and-true recipes that she can remake without too much fuss. Some recipes are drawn from other books, but some are of her own creation. This is not an extensive list of her recipes, merely a sample of what she's got up her sleeve.
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Dye: A simple and versatile recipe of Violet's creation. When she first imbibed this potion, she got horribly sick. When she got better, she found that her hair had changed to a dark purple right at the roots - the same color as the potion had been. Many trials, errors, and hair colors later, she found a recipe that did not induce illness, and could flexibly change one's natural hair color to whatever they desired - only requiring flower petals the same hue as the desired shade.
Holy Water: Technically neither water nor holy, this is a recipe of Violet's creation. The sludgy green liquid is usually stored in a fragile tube or vial. Entirely harmless to most creatures, it acts like a powerful acid upon contact with a demon's flesh or organs. It probably won't kill a demon unless it's especially weak, or submerged entirely in the stuff, but it still serves as a wonderful weapon and deterrent.
Mend: A healing potion from one of the Order's books. This potion accelerates the natural healing ability of the human body, mending bones and cartilage, stitching together skin, and even accelerating the body's disease-fighting and toxin-fighting capabilities. These miraculous powers are not free: the potion is difficult and expensive to create, and the rapid healing of the body requires plenty of food and water to keep up. It has no effect on illnesses the body cannot naturally fight, such as mental illnesses or cancer.
Short Fuse: A recipe made by Violet, but created as a derivative from a recipe in a previous book. This is a potion that, when imbibed, causes one to break out into a rage (with the results of that rage depending on how an individual typically handles anger). Its effects typically last anywhere from half an hour to an hour. If imbibed by a male, it tends to also have minor aphrodisiac qualities - a side effect Violet is unaware of, having never tested it on a male before.
Tit Tea: A name made as a joke by one of her fellow Order members, Violet ran with it when she inscribed this recipe into her book. It is made with tea leaves, but the resulting potion is nothing like what a cafe would serve. It can enlarge or shrink the breasts of the imbiber, male or female, depending on the variant of the recipe used. The effects usually last only a few hours, but repeated imbibing and/or overdosing can have unintended side effects, including more sensitive breasts, longer periods of the effects, or hallucinogenic hazes.

Vergil1989

You DO need to bulk up your history and your personality a bit, but other than that I think she's good to go overall.  Her alchemy stuff COULD also be bulked up somewhat, detailing some of her more exotic modifications or what have you if you like, putting together a list of a few potions that she's created, whatever you wish to reveal now.  It just looks a bit bare bones is all, but again she's looking good overall.  I AM curious what life in her previous cell as well as her New York one was like, what her average day was, etc, but other than just adding more to her, I think she'd be fine.  :D

If I can get one more person or so, I might get to work getting some of our OOC and IC threads going, along with a character roster of course, but for now the few people we have are looking quite promising.  ;D

Huh, that's actually pretty interesting. Ironically, I feel like my Book-holder could actually get along quite well with the Hunter (potential plot for betrayal, but who betrays who?), as they both have powers centralized around the art of alchemy, and at a glance, it seems like they have a very similar personality type (which can be both good and bad).

Oh, yeah, if they find out about each others' passion for alchemy, they could probably get along well. Her alchemy is probably better trained but with less potential than his, due to the fact that she learns from whatever books the Order of the Silver Rose would approve of her using, and he has no such restrictions. On the other hand, she's creative, and eager to experiment with her recipes for good or ill.

Well, here's a thought idea to chew on, if you'd like: I did establish in my character's history that he does have a few regulars at his bar, and that he is very good with mixing drinks (and has probably created a few of his own specialty cocktails); if your character likes to have a drink every now and again, she could be one of the regulars? They could have a purely casual, friendly relationship; chatting about the fine art of mixing things. Of course, at the game's beginning, I imagine my character has yet to acquire his Book... so they're probably talking about mixing different things, but it might be close enough to spark her interest? Maybe provide an occasional bit of inspiration, since he could also geek out about herbs and the like (herbal liquors being used historically as health tonics might have something in common with her type of alchemy?).

Like I said, something to chew on; more than open to any suggestions you'd have for the idea. And of course, I don't mind it if you'd rather they not have any sort of prior friendship.

Funnily enough, I'd be real interested to see if a betrayal story unfolded between you and Hanged.  ;D  I'd be more interested in seeing Miss Silver Rose betraying the Order and joining the side with rockin' demons and their magic drugs.  :P  Joking aside, you're not wrong, the Order DOES no doubt tries to restrict the more 'evil' stuff they come across so no one gets any bright ideas, but they don't know about much at all about the books other than they exist and they were supposed to be blank for some reason.  It won't take them long to realize how wrong they were once things start to happen that draws their attention though.   >:)

That aside, Hanged?  Your guy could always ask his Book, whenever he gets his hands on one if he doesn't already have one, to be more straightforward.  Just a funny thought to consider when he gets particularly frustrated with the thing lol.

Speaking of relationships though, some RPs do the whole Connections thing.  If you guys want to establish such things now, feel free.

Well, the odds of her winding up in a bar are pretty low. She's 19 - below the legal age limit for alcohol.  :P (Sure, with her physique, she could easily pass for older, and her connections could probably get her a fake ID, but she doesn't see the point.)
That said, we could easily take a similar track, because while she has no reason to visit a bar, she works at a restaurant herself, serving as a waitress. That could be the place where they wound up meeting and chatting, learning about each others' similar interests. She'd probably be legitimately interested in his profession, since it does have many similarities to alchemy.  ;D

Edit: Added a "recipe book" of some of Violet's concoctions. Will work on fleshing out the rest in a bit.

So, if Violet goes to the college (does it have a name yet?), she and Anais are obviously classmates and see each other all the time, totally ignorant of each other's secret lives ;)  Perhaps Anais thinks of Violet as the first friend she's made among the "cool kids"?

Vergil1989

I like it overall.  Not bad Lego, thanks.  ;D

If anyone wants to spread this around and see if anyone would like to join, feel free to do so.  Most of the invites I sent I haven't gotten any responses back yet, most likely because everyone else is too busy, but meh, oh well.  :D

Almost done with my own spell list, but most of her stuff can be summarized just by looking at Avatar the Last Airbender/Legend of Korra, under the header of Bloodbending.  It's some pretty scary stuff all told, but it COULD potentially be used to help people since you essentially seize control of someone's very blood to move them around by force, but while it's never done, it could, theoretically, be used to clear out blood clots and tumors and stuff.  Sath'tan COULD probably do it with one pinky, but she has no reason to nor love for humans anyway.  Blood Magic from the Dragon Age series is also where I'm taking some inspiration as well, which is much more grand scale type of stuff.  Pulling blood right out of someone's body, manipulating their minds or outright mental rape/telepathy, etc, as well as summoning powerful demons, all this and more can be achieved with blood magic.

If someone else wanted to be a healer or something along those lines though, while keeping it open as a possibility to hurt at the same time, feel free to do so.  ;D

And to answer your question Zinc, it doesn't.  I hate coming up with names, so feel free to offer suggestions if we don't just use a real place or something.  ;D

IMPORTANT UPDATE as of October 6th 2016 in A/A page

Deathnote

Hmm... would it be possible to end up with a book that showed comic book panels?

I'm already imagining the following situation:

My Character:  Let's see here... wow... kinda advanced stuff in here... what's this word mean...?

Book: (Changes pages to use simpler words)

MC: Ah, I see... I think I understand it a bit better now... I think...

Book: (Changes to include easy to understand images and diagrams)

MC: Hmm... Content's a bit boring, though... Not sure I wanna read through all this...

Book: (Changes into a comic book)

MC: Whoa!  Cool!  It's a comic book now!  A bit too wordy for my taste, but whatever.

Book: (Changes into a children's pop-up book)

MC: Okay, now you're just mocking me!

Vergil1989

Lol whatever works I suppose, but that's equally hilarious and clever, so feel free to run with it Deathnote.  ;D

And Sath'tan's spells are listed in her profile now.  Blood magic could still be used by someone else, or in one of the books still if you want to go a different route with it, but again, variety and all that is preferred.

IMPORTANT UPDATE as of October 6th 2016 in A/A page

Sketch

Name: Gabriel Black
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Book Holder:  Yes - Enchanter | The Artificers Codex of Construction and Runic Enchantment | Contained within the books pages explain how to forge, craft, enhance or enchant a variety of items, tools or even how to design ones own. In the hands of a skilled craftsman this book can be taken to even greater heights. From X-Ray Glasses, to psychic paper (fake magical ID's think Doctor Who) to Invisibility Cloaks or even more terrible constructs or automatons. This book is the chief resource for crafting or enchanting magical items. Obviously, the work requires precision, time, materials and space. On the upside, no special materials are truly needed but the level of craftsmanship IS important.
Demon companion:  Yes - Upon opening the book and reading those words he believes that the demon then became part of him, like a twisted version of himself he sees him whenever he looks into the mirror. Always immaculately dressed, the demon itself is a corrupting force of will with no real name of its own. Instead it seeks to infuse its malicious will upon the books owner, slowly turning them into a demonic entity themselves. Being part of the price and curse of using the book, it teases at that deeper knowledge contained in the book whispering promises of how it can be used to fulfill all ones most darkest and deepest desires and even seeming at times to impart an intrinsic knowledge as if to lure him deeper. Beyond tempting him, at the moment it has no real power unless he gives in. A slippery slope to be sure as that power gained from letting go comes at the most terrible of prices and if he falls completely will it even be himself anymore?

Hunter:  No
Appearance:  Dark black hair, lean muscular build with piercing dark brown eyes, they turn almost black  since the parasitic demon embedded itself into his soul in times of high emotional stress or pressure. Fairly stoic and reserved in most settings, only when he is working in his shop or on his extra curricular actives does his expression open up revealing that deep seated passion. Due to the nature of his hobby he tends to be most times in a disheveled sort of state; dirt, grease or other such marks variously on his skin or singed into his clothes.
Personality: There is a bit of a duality raging inside of the man as he comes to grips with the skills he is learning from the book while also dealing with this hungry force lurking inside of him. He is a passionate yet serious man though at times when not at work can have a bit of an odd sense of humor and even be playful with those who are his friends or he feels comfortable with. Even to those same friends though he tends to be a bit closed off, not sharing great details of his personal life or feelings beyond what they might already know and even LESS sharing now since acquiring this book. There is a dark side to him now as well, a hunger itching beneath his skin and just begs him to let go of those preconceived notions of morality.

Sexual Orientation: Hetero

Bio:  Where does one begin with the tale of their life? Some might start at the beginning but up until the last year of Gabriel's life he wasn't anyone overly special. Gabriel was the only child and in that his parents and he haven't spoken in the last number of years, nor is he close with any of the other members of the family. He worked at the motor pool on Campus, servicing Faculty Vehicles or on the Campus Police. Though given his degree and natural talent, he probably could have sought out different work, he didn't have any desire to work for some large corporation or be beholden to any sort of quota or higher expectations. This job paid well enough, was fairly easy and as the Campus didn't want to spend a great deal of their resources employing a large pool of employees, it was just him and the head mechanic.  That was the part that had mattered most to him as given his skills, his boss usually just left all the work to him and so long as it got done left him alone. In his off time, he does attend some classes or even the off hand trade skill. Living day to day and just enjoying the free use had of the shop, working on his own personal projects in peace which prior to finding the book was his beater, a 71' Plymouth Hemi Cuda. How he found the book was something that he still didn't truly understand. Quite often he ordered personal parts and equipment to the College Motor Pool and inside one of those shipments it had been included. At first he thought it was just an old, extremely thick tech manual, rough around the edges and so faded from age that he couldn't read to what it was for. Opening the book however, that was perhaps his real beginning and when everything changed. The first page laid out the various chapters, some of which it described he just couldn't believe and thought at first was a joke. It was weeks before he actually tried anything inside of the book, and it was mostly out of boredom and frustration as he sat drinking in the garage after hours. The parts he had ordered second hand turned out to be a bust and he just didn't have it in him at that moment to bother with contacting the seller to get it corrected. Flipping through the book, he found instructions on how to draw a runic marker for "repair." A slightly drunk Gabriel laughed at the notion, the premise and even the entire concept. It was beyond ridiculous and yet in that frustrated drunken state something compelled him. Performing the steps, he ingrained that marking into his car. Each step seemed to awaken something inside of him, an energy that he couldn't explain. Halfway through he felt sober and clearheaded and then at the end as he poured his own blood over that runic brand on his engine block he could almost feel that energy transferring from him into it.

Then nothing happened. He laughed at it, laughed at himself for being drawn into it as he sat down rubbing his bandaged hand through his hair. Covering the car, he left for the night. Taking an Uber back to his apartment and crashed out, he had thought it was the booze that had made him so very tired.

The following morning, he didn't think to check on his car as he didn't have the parts it needed anyway and he was busy getting one of the cruisers that had been brought in turned up. That night though, his boss was there chatting with him and had asked him how his project was coming along. With a bit of a self effacing laugh, he told him to take a look for himself. When that tarp was pulled off, there sat what he thought was a totally different car. A pristine condition 71' Hemi Cuda, no rust, no sign of wear or age. His boss laughed, "You do quick work, you should have your own shop." and left it at that. From that moment, he knew what he read, what he did was real. That moment, having performed that first art from the book he had also awakened the demon. Now he spent his time learning, reading, training with a renewed fervor. He also knew he would need a secure work space and in that the book also held that answer...it would take time, money and effort to get that going. That passion he felt had been rekindled, driving him to learn all that he could about this book but he knew he had to be careful...if others learned of it they would seek to steal it or perhaps even worse. In those moments of contemplation, he does wonder what else is out there, who else might have abilities like that this book has shown him.

A practical man, he knows with this book he has the means to protect himself and this knowledge. Though he also knows, someone had sent him this book and they had a reason for doing so even if they hadn't come forward yet.  That worried him.

Casual ons: Working on his craft / reading tech manuals while enjoying a quiet drink and music or driving his car or motorcycle aimlessly, video gaming to a point and time with friends.
Casual offs: Foolish behavior, people prying into his personal affairs or feelings when not prompted by him.
Sexual ons: Domination, non-con, dubious consent, restraints, collaring, possible transformation of his partner later on or even using his own creations on his partner | he also enjoys romantic encounters, vanilla type play but passionate.
Sexual offs: Mutilation, Bodily Waste, Vore. (His Off's more or less match the one playing him, I'll also say I don't care to be mentally controlled but depends on the circumstance as I also enjoy controlling in the right situation.)

Face Claims:  Keanu Reeves
Additional Notes/Photos/Music/etc
An example of what he might see overlaid of himself in the mirror, the more he falls, the more the image becomes more pronounced and the more sinister.

Artifact Creations / Enchantments

Repair - As of the current iteration, it only repairs inanimate objects restoring them back to optimal condition one time. (Will improve as he does)

Reinforcement - When applied to an object it makes it more resilient, at the moment applied to his casual wear, providing him a small bit of protection.

Arcane Glasses - Allows him to blend into a crowd, overlooked or ignored. Not quite a disguise as it doesn't change his appearance. They make him and his actions subtle, inconspicuous, and just...unmemorable provided he isn't doing something extreme or to far out of the ordinary. At basic levels this ability really only impacts individuals without magical abilities. At higher levels, records get lost and misfiled about him, video camera signals might get wonky for a few seconds, a photograph might come out unclear etc.  Obviously he only can craft the basic level at the moment. (for those familiar with it, think 2nd Ed WoD Mage Arcane at it's lowest level)

Secret Space - Bigger on the Inside / A work in progress for the character as he is working to make a proper workshop and fill it with all the tools he might need. For the moment however, use of this allows him to easily carry a much larger load in his backpack with little to no weight.

(I guess these are a few examples right now, nothing world bending yet obviously. Fairly versatile though should he have time to research / make stuff. )

This idea works perfectly, too. He's pretty much just making it month to month, but some times he makes enough in tips or extra shifts (or both) that he can afford some luxuries, like going out.  At least at the beginning of the game, they may be mixing and experimenting with entirely different things, but with a focus on making herbal liquors--and herbs traditionally being used for traditional alchemy (much like her 'Tit Tea')--there could be enough overlap.

And maybe they've inspired each other; maybe he's gotten her something she needed in her own works (like 99.9% alcohol, which might have alchemical purposes), or she's given him creative ideas for brews of his own (which he may or may not share the end result of, depending on whether she's an underage drinker or not; or heck, if she wants to just give it as a gift to somebody else in the Order or what-have-you). And then, of course, my character gets his book... and all of a sudden, he's starting to do stuff like she does. That would be eyebrow-raising, right?

And I really do like a betrayal plot idea, though who betrays who can easily be left up to the whims of fate. I see Erik as being mostly amoral, rather than immoral, and that sort of neutrality means he could sway towards either side... and cause damage to the other side in the process.

Without him becoming openly hostile or a danger to normal people, Violet is unlikely to betray him outright even if she learns of his Book-holder status. Obviously, though, she might alert the rest of her call to his identity.
By the way, I've decided that, while much of the RP still takes place in New York, Violet's own apartment is actually out in New Jersey. There's no way that a part-time waitress is affording better.  :P

Damn Sketch, you don't mess around.  ;D  I'm curious about some of the more specific things Gabriel might be able to create, (a few of his more commonly used creations or runes listed in a spoiler's fine), but otherwise I'm happy with him.  The only thing I'd recommend is allowing him to disguise his blackening eyes since they're supposed to be keeping a low profile.  They can change when he's under stress or something, but otherwise I'm happy with what I see.  Not sure if I should count him both as a book holder and a demon, or just a book holder lol.

I'm thinking about getting the OOC and character rosters up here shortly, but I'd prefer at least two more people to sign on before I do so.  Either way, you guys are amazin' already, trust me.  ;D

The OOC and the Character Rosters are up, but I'm gonna give it another day unless we get a couple more people, before getting the IC stuff going.  See ya soon guys and gals.  ;D  The links can be found in the first post at the top.

Hmmmmm, So I've been looking over everyone's characters and I like what I see so far. I would like to make a male Djinn (demon) and I would like him to actually be bound to someone by his true name. He is very strong and while he has his limitations he can be very handy to have. I would love to explore the back and forth between him and his master (will he resent them? Or will he find them intriguing? Perhaps he torments them every chance he gets. Or maybe he does the unthinkable and falls in love with a foolish mortal.) I'm not writing up my sheet just yet.... I want to give people a chance to think about this offer before I just make him a free-roaming Djinn. I want to be able to write a history and such (has he recently been captured by your character or has he been passed down through your character's family?) He will most definitely resent the fact that he, a powerful Djinn, is a servant to a mortal. However, their personal relationship is up for discussion. He will be Bisexual....

Hit me up if you are interested in plotting with this  ;D

Vergil1989

Huh.  Nice concept there Shii.  ;D  I hope someone comes along to help with this since it looks like it could be quite a bit of fun with the right person.

(Work in Progress:)

Name: Connie Bookake aka Connie the Librarian.
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Book Holder: Yes. Owns the original copy of the Kama Sutra, which was brought from India to Babylon by Alexander the Great and, shortly after his death (...possibly related...) stolen from his treasures and taken to Macedonia, and later Athens and Rome, where it was extensively studied and added to by scholars of the classical world. The kama sutra imbues its possessor with all sorts of carnal knowledge and creativity, and great flexibility and stamina as well. And GREAT skin. Oh yeah. Through the tome, Connie has also learned a few *magicks*: low level enchantment a la 'Jedi mind tricks' to often talk her way through situations, distract others, or induce feelings of erotic pleasure in others' minds. She can also form small acts of telekinesis (like floating her coffee mug into hand without reaching for it) and can levitate.
Demon companion: Aria the succubus. Started appearing to Connie shortly after the Kama Sutra came into her possession. Tries to convince Connie to act as sexual and depraved as possible and corrupt others to do same. Likes to claim she was the mentor of Helen of Troy, and that she put Alexander the Great in an early grave by giving him a blowjob so amazing he had a heart attack at age 33. Even though he was probably gay. Aria likes hot chocolate.
Hunter: No not really but she was a college rifle club regional champ so that's that. Connie has a very sexy Instagram with some choice pics at the shooting range and suggestive poses with a rifle barrel.
Appearance: Hot blonde bombshell. 5'10", fairly athletic for a woman.
Personality: Extremely bookish. Actually kinda stuck up and prudish, even though she has a quite an academic knowledge of all things carnal, her may or may not actually be very experienced, an endless source of frustration for Aria.
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Bio: A+ student, cheerleading captain, stuck up bitch, summa cum laude at Stanford (no comment on whether actual 'cum' was involved in getting all those straight As). Now she's a lit professor and librarian at a college in New York.
Casual ons: Humorous and adventurous stuff.
Casual offs: Boring stuff. Overly spicy food. Politically correct people.
Sexual ons: Exhibitionism, bdsm, oral, vaginal, anal, whipping and spanking, roleplay, costumes.
Sexual offs: Scat, gore.

Lol well, this certainly makes for an interesting concept there FF.  ;D  I will say most of us are using magic that is a bit more....flexible? I guess is the right word, but being a literal sex goddess would likely have its uses, just not in any direct capacity.  As long as you're okay with that then I won't split hairs, although having SOME kind of mildly offensive or defensive spells or something would probably be a good idea, even if it's just to cause massive lust 'rages' to break out in a crowd of people or something.  Just some ideas to consider is all, especially since this isn't going to be a lot of actual fighting or anything, but it's at least recommended not to limit yourself.

Good luck filling out the rest though whenever you get a chance.  I'll change the numbers but I think we have MAYBE three other people who could be potential Book Holders?  Either way this is starting to shape up to be quite the interesting cast of folks.  ;D

Sure  ;D I have a question though. How are people going to find and interact with eachother in the city? I'm kind of just worried about characters having a reason to be near eachother and interact. Like if the setting was a school then its easier or if everyone is on a ship or same work place or something.....

Vergil1989

The epicenter is at a Columbia University on Manhattan Island, not so far from the Hamptons and what have you, but the city is open for exploration and the like.  Everyone's more or less either a student or a teacher at the school thus far, while working jobs around and in the school itself, so it IS technically set in a college campus environment if that helps.  :D

I actually wrote my character with the intent he had already graduated, but he works at a bar that those of the legal drinking age prefer to hang out at, and which is conveniently close to campus. (edit: and hell, if people are friends, bars like that will usually sell regular sodas and water, for designated drivers).

Vergil1989

Nah I'm good having more book holders, we still have room for more, so you're good on that front FF.  And cool, but again there's no rush so take your time on figuring things out.  Sath'tan's only the strongest due to her nature, but to an experienced Book Holder, they'd be on even footing, if not surpassing her given enough time, so there IS the possibility someone could beat her on their own.  OR a team of Hunters could do the same thing, although it'd be damn hard in that case.  ;D  Again though, I don't expect a lot of people fighting other characters, so that in itself shouldn't be a thing, BUT fighting other demons, their minions, or Hunters and stuff will be a thing occasionally, hence why I recommend you have powers that can be more useful to your gals.

I will say I am VERY curious to see your two girls in action.  ;D

IMPORTANT UPDATE as of October 6th 2016 in A/A page

shii

Name: Azril Cade, True Name: Dethanatos
Age: 5,000 years old . Time isn’t relevant for him.
Gender:Male
Book Holder: Seeking a book holder to trap him.

Demon type:  Djinn. A sort of ancient demonic spirit who is not necessarily evil but generally they don’t tend to be good either. They are best known for being able to grant their masters wishes, and obediently doing their master’s bidding. Reality is a little more complicated and quite a bit darker. The summoner must go through an elaborate ritual that requires very devout faith and the Djinn’s true name. When the ritual is completed the summoner can release the Djinn only two ways, willing dismissal of service or through death (unless another takes over the Djinn and passes it down). If the summoner is weak-willed the Djinn will kill them and their immediate family members, however, if the caster is successful the Djinn will consume the summoner’s soul at the time of death. He has many powers but he also has some limitations. He can not cross a salt barrier that has been laid down by someone with the intention of keeping evil out. Silver burns him but most things are ineffective inless one somehow knows his true name.

Hunter:  N/A
Appearance:  6’2”, lean, muscular. Thick jet black hair tumbles down in waves into an unruly mane more reminiscent of ancient times gone by than the sleek, short styles of the modern world. Eyes deep wells of inky obsidian, are notoriously difficult to read but sharply intelligent. His entire demeanor is that of a sophisticated feral creature.
Personality: He was once human but that was very long ago and he has now lived as a damned creature for far longer than he had as a human being. As a result, he has a unique perspective on humans and the world in general. He has what one would call a poetic soul (a bit dark and brooding with a fiery passion). He is very intelligent and is often bored or disgusted by those around him. He views humanity as a plague on the earth and regards most of them with the hate they deserve as he has seen more than enough of their dark deeds to fill his nightmares for eternity. Thus he has no problem killing them, driving them mad or pushing them headlong into their corrupt and destructive impulses. However, they can still sometimes catch his interest. He enjoys learning new things. To date, he knows 37 languages fluently. Do not ask him about his human life, as there is very little of it he remembers, the golden human bones in his possession, or how he was born a Djinn unless you wish to dredge up a past he wishes he could forget.

Sexual Orientation: Bisexual (prefers to be a top. Open to turning the tables though)

Bio: The birth of a Djinn is a violent and deeply painful affair. Unnatural and damned it could not be anything else. At the height of the Egyptian empire, he had been born a human to a poor family. His uncle was able to get him a job at a temple cleaning and taking care of the alters and temple its self. At the time he was interested in the worship of the gods and even considered becoming a priest. The job was doomed from the start as an ancient and powerful order had their eye on him. They slowly began to befriend him and his uncle vouched for them but things are very seldom what they seem and he was a naive and stupidly trusting boy. One night they invited him to take part in a ceremony. It was unlike any he had ever seen, no expense was spared and he had never seen so much gold, fine food and silk in all his young life. He had been washed and prepared for the ceremony as if he were royalty, dressed in white linens. This and many other little things bothered him but he ignored the feeling deep within his gut, believing the reassurances of his uncle. If he had known what was about to happen, how he would be betrayed, he would have ran out of that evil place and never returned. They chanted for hours and then they stopped and all of them drank some spiced wine before the next step commenced. Again they chanted but he began to feel unwell, falling to his knees he vomited and felt intense pain in his guts. A large boiling pot of gold was brought out and he was seized and stripped of all his clothes and brought before the pot. By now he was crying out to his uncle and fighting hard against the men who held him but it was his uncle who approached him with the curved ceremonial dagger and it was his uncle who drew the blade accost his throat before he was swiftly thrown into the boiling pot of liquid gold. It was the most intense pain he had ever felt and then suddenly he was floating above it in a worlwind of confusion, watching them pull golden bones from a pot and lay them on red silk before they began to chant again. Everything became a blur and things are hard for him to recall but he did remember killing his uncle and nearly everyone in the room in a fit of rage before being subdued by one of the men, who then became his first master.

He hated the man almost as deeply as he feared him, choked with bitterness and rage for his lost mortality. At first, he vehemently rejected his new life as a Djinn, rebelling and earning painful punishments and demeaning tasks. He was told it was a gift to become such a powerful being but he never saw it that way, not when his will could be controlled by another. As time went on he learned to exist in his new form and he learned how to use his power. He was passed from master to master until he finally had the strength to break free. After he did he wandered the earth learning of a great many things. He watched religions come and go with their empires and he is familiar with many, if not all of the old magical organizations that hunted him and others of his ilk for their own use or his destruction. He was occasionally summoned by someone who had somehow obtained his name from ancient books perhaps but they rarely had the will to finish the ceremony and he killed them and devoured their soul. Warnings were written about him and his name became steeped in blood and darkness. However, sometimes they would meet with success and these times he resented. They wanted the usual things, a rival killed, their greed and lust indulged to excess and a demonic bodyguard in their back pocket. What of the bones you ask? He still has them, hidden in a secret and safe place, not knowing what would happen if they were destroyed. Would he die or would he descend into a pit of hellish madness? He does not know and some days he does not care. He is cursed to wander the earth ceaselessly.

Casual ons: Candlelight, walks in the moonlight at three A.M., the smell of coffee, freshly spilled blood, drawn to purity and innocence, that smell rain has on a summer night, the violin, a good book.
Casual offs: Traffic, loud and rude people, fast food, a messy house, stupid people, the color purple, hot sunny days.
Sexual ons: Teasing, making his partner beg, BDSM, Dub-con, spanking
Sexual offs: Not a lot he won’t do. Lets talk.

As long as he doesn't get in the way of Lilith's plans for Anais, I'm all for him Shii.  ;D  If Zinc wants to take a chance on your Djinn, I won't complain in the slightest.  That and I like the idea of a sexy threesome happening between our characters, call me weird.  :P  All jokes aside Shii, it's good to have you along for the ride, and he looks pretty amazing all told.  I AM curious what kind of specific powers he's got, even though he's not a Book Holder exactly, but he's otherwise approved, so feel free to stop by the OOC and the character roster whenever you get a chance.

See ya!  ;D

Lol depends what those plans are  :P he may not care or he may actually help her. A threesome isn't weird at all  >:)

Thanks  ;D He can, of course, change his appearance (though he rarely does) appear and disappear (this includes appearing to just one person so they talk to him and end up looking crazy), can bring objects into existence (like poof your dinner is served, or here is your suitcase full of gold bars) though this takes a toll on him as something has to exist in order for him to pull it through time and space to its present location and that is very tiring so he needs time to rest after these sessions.

Hey FF?  Ya kinda need a lot more in your girl's bio since all I see is a couple lines that suggests plenty, but I was hoping for more about her life before her arrival to the school she's at now.  What's her family like, any siblings, friends she hangs out with, places she hangs out, stuff like that, as I've been asking from everyone else thus far.  Please include what you can before getting carried away there.  :D

We still need pretty much everyone guys and gals, so feel free to drop by and see what all the fuss is about.  :D

Lol either way, welcome to the party Shii.

I'd prefer if you listed those in your profile somewhere for easy reference, and also so you don't have to remember yourself, just so we both have an idea of what your boy's capable of.  Beyond that, I suddenly have the image of him teleporting a bunch of money into Anais's room, only to find out that he stole it all from a bank in the center of New York.  Cue the awkwardness of a full blown FBI investigation.  ;D

I've added a new possible faction to the mix called the Ravished Knot.  The name's more of a work in progress, but the general history isn't so much.  Still, as always, I'm happy to let other people expand upon the lore and history of this weird world.  See ya!

Hi,

High Level Concept: Daughter of wealthy CEO who has inherited her father's company. Her public image is that of a caring philanthropist reaching out to help the community, especially at risk girls. Mostly, this image is actually true. However, sometime after the beginning of the game she comes into possession of one of the books and is slowly drawn into the corruption that comes with power.

Thoughts?

Vergil1989

I'd be fine with that.  ;D

I AM hoping the idea of the Ravished Knot cult, (I REALLY need a better name for that....), will gain some traction, but for now since it's such a new concept, I'm willing to let it be for now.  Getting back to your gal though, I'd be happy to have someone along those lines running around.  :D  As I've said before though, the books themselves don't typically corrupt people since we don't need the help to be assholes.  :P  Just so we're clear on that end though, I'm interested to see what you can come up with Doc.

I think we're almost full up on Book Holders, and honestly I'd like some other positions filled if at all possible, but if you really want to do a Book Holder, I won't stop ya.  :D  As far as a Djinn Master for Shii's character, I THINK there might be something being planned with someone else, but you could ask him and see what he says on the matter.  I haven't heard anything on that since this morning though, so I couldn't tell you for sure.  It's still good to have you Dragongoddess, and welcome to the madness.  :D

On a related note, I have been thinking of putting together a second character.  The only thing holding me back is the fact I'd rather not hog up a spot that someone else could possibly fill, especially since I kinda had the idea to be an actual Book Holder with this gal who would also have ties with the new, or rather old, cult I've since come up with last night at like one in the morning.  Meh, I'll give it some time yet, especially since we're still looking for people by and large anyway, that and we've only really just started, but if someone wants the general idea for said character I was considering, let me know and I'll send what little I have your way.

Dragongoddess

I was thinking something similar to that to begin with or someone whose family has practiced light (white) witchcraft for many generations.  She's learning their ways when she finds the book and a detailed explanation of a spell but not exactly what it does.  She's shown a strength in what she's learned from the magic passed down through her family but never ventured into something like this.  She does and finds a demon before her.  Though she swears she couldn't have done this, the demon constantly tells her she did.  What exactly this means is up to how the story goes.  Maybe this innocent girl will turn dark privately but continue to act like an innocent 'child' in public.  I say child because she'd be a student.  Maybe she works to become very powerful, even showing such in public.  There are a million ways this could go but I would want a demon that she 'accidentally' has control over.

Vergil1989

As far as public displays are concerned, it's rather important that kind of thing be kept as low key as possible.  You can use what power you have for whatever you like, but drawing attention to yourself is a bad idea.  Mostly because of people like the Order of the Silver Rose hunting people like the Book Holders down before executing them if they prove too dangerous to be left alone, which will be pretty much everyone at this point.  :P  That aside, the concept sounds pretty good, and I rather like the duality in that she pretends to be one thing while slowly growing to become a twisted parody of herself.  As far as her family having magic going back generations, that's perfectly fine as well, so go nuts I say Dragongoddess.  :D

Very true, few people are willing to take responsibility for their own actions.  ;D  Having said that, there IS a chance for actual corruption, but the way it works is more it can draw out what evil and depravity that's already there rather than creating its own if that makes sense.

And sorry to hear that Shii, but feel free to partner up with someone else if it doesn't look to be working out with the last guy.

To everyone else, we still need quite a few people, so come all come all and come often.  :P

Hey, guys!  So the Djinn idea did fall through for my book holder but I do feel it to be pertinent to my character's story as part of this game that she does accidentally summon a demon that winds up bound to her.  If anyone has a demon they'd like to sacrifice to the clutches of a relatively innocent girl, please let me know!

Vergil1989

A reminder guys, you CAN have two characters max for the time being, and Days 2 and 3 will be opening up soon.  Probably tomorrow, Tuesday at the latest, so feel free to start planning scenes if you wish to do so.  I'll be posting this in the OOC as well, just so everyone sees it alright.

On a side note, the Ravished Knot cult, (still need a far better name lol....ugh), needs leadership roles filled and more lore added to them, same as the Silver Rose.  If anyone wants to help with that, I'm all ears, otherwise i'll do what I can as it becomes necessary.  See ya for now and thanks for the interest and participation thus far.  ;D

#81
Name:  Juliet Mendezo
Age:  43
Gender:  Female
Book Holder:  No but she's a fan of various forms of what Final Fantasy enthusiasts would call Black Magic.  Anything from fireballs to electrical blasts, to searing bursts of light or choking tendrils of darkness, she is a walking storm of ferocious potential just waiting to be unleashed. Curses of blindness, silence, sickness, and more are also at her fingertips, and she's used them plenty.  She also knows and has gained the trust of many, if low to medium level demons, throughout her life, allowing her to call upon their aid at will with only a short incantation and their true name whispered on the wind.  Anything stronger requires too much power, reagents, and the like to make viable on the spot castings possible.
Demon companion:  Many, but she typically travels with her bodyguard and occasional lover, a soldier demon simply known as Raj.  No one knows if she has a longer name, and few have ever been brave enough to ask given Raj's fearsome reputation with her katana, or her fierce loyalty to her long time partner and sometimes lover.
Hunter/Ravished Cultist: One of the seven human Ravished Knot Council leaders.
Appearance
Personality:  Despite having grown up in an environment where human and animal sacrifices were normal, Juliet is very nurturing to those that catches her interest.  She might be a very intimidating person to most everyone else as one of the most powerful members of the Ravished Knot, with a reputation steeped in more than a little fact that says she can be as merciless as the demons who have allied with her specifically, but those brave enough, or foolish enough, to catch her eye find a very sensuous and passionate woman willing to lend a hand to anything that she finds interesting, engaging, or that helps the cause of the cult or her personal business and/or life, and not necessarily in that order.  When not working to further the Knot's goals or pursuing personal business related to her true nature, Juliet enjoys social gatherings in the high class clubs, scorching hot parties, and the occasional grand symphony orchestral performance.
Sexual Orientation:  Pansexual
Bio:  Born to an American mother and a Hispanic father in a New York city hospital, Juliet spent most of her childhood going back and forth between their home countries for various family holidays and business trips since both were high profile business execs.  They loved their little girl quite a bit, and it's because of them that she knows so much about the world beyond this one.  To hear other people tell it, the first time she picked up the ceremonial blade at nine years old, with her parents watching her every move, she had a smile on her little face even as she drove it into a man's chest that had been prepared for a summoning ritual, her first.  Truthfully, she'd been terrified of getting the words to her first summoning spell wrong, and the act of killing another person, despite having been raised to accept such sacrifices for the cause were necessary, even encouraged, stuck with her less as a traumatic experience and more as a turning point.  Keeping it a secret from the rest of her friends was simple enough since she'd seen for herself what people did when confronted with the supernatural when her father had pulled a literal demon out of thin air to protect his family from a would be mugger during the Christmas season just a year ago.  The mugger had literally shit himself promptly before having his throat ripped out, his corpse left in that same alley.

Fast forward a year, and Juliet's efforts, despite how scared she was of making a mistake even as the warmth of her sacrifice's blood on her hands was still quite fresh, afforded her a simple imp who had been about as surprised as she'd been overjoyed to have done so well.  Her parents had also been pretty happy with her, but she'd been forced to send him back.  It was enough to know she could do it, and having been told keeping a demon was not only dangerous, but that they weren't slaves or pets, but intelligent beings worthy of profound respect, Juliet let the imp return to his home with only minimal fuss and a cutely, quivering bottom lip.  Disposing of the body, cleaning up the mess wasn't so easily taken care of, but like everything, she learned to accept it as a necessary sacrifice meant to better herself at the end of the day.  And while she had had helped with the first of what would be countless others, Juliet learned quickly ash was so much easier to dispose of and hide than a full person ever would be.  Lessons like these would continue, with mundane people being none the wiser about the kind of person she truly was as she devoured her arcane studies as easily as she did her regular schoolwork.

Her first summoning behind her, Juliet moved through the rest of her young life learning much, and experiencing far more than most kids her age.  Choosing to save herself for her initiation ceremony into the cult proper, dating wasn't an option for the then young adult Juliet since most of the men she had went to school with all inevitably wanted the same thing from her.  Having filled out and matured into a very sensuous, and beautiful young woman, it was no surprise most everyone with a pulse found her attractive and wanted to get into her bed.  In a cruel bit of irony, Juliet had three of the more annoying guys from her senior year of high school, she a sophomore in college at the time, brought in to serve as sacrifices for her initiation.  They got their wish to get a taste of her flesh, while she, and several members of the cult, new and old alike, as well as several demons, used them for their own pleasure before their throats were cut one by one once their minds had all but been turned to putty with sheer terror from being confronted with such palpable evil.

At twenty-five, Juliet met Raj, and they hit it off almost immediately, starting a partnership between them that's lasted since the day she summoned the soldier demon to her side.  It helped they shared many of the same hobbies, and despite typically being a demon of few words, Raj had proven to be quite intelligent once Juliet got her to open up a bit.  Having since become the CEO of her parents' company, the middle aged woman has long since collected countless allies and associates from both worlds, and while her activities as a Knot member have been kept a secret from the world at large, she prefers to keep it that way until the day finally comes that she doesn't have to hide anymore.
Casual ons:  Cats, human sacrifices and/or torture, hot chocolate, intelligent conversations, breaking in new human 'pets' for the Knot, reading, playing the violin, and experiencing new things such as skydiving, rock climbing, and maybe one day choking someone to death with her bare hands.  A girl's gotta have hobbies and life goals after all.
Casual offs:  Dogs, sycophants and brown nosers, traitors to the Knot or herself, stupidity, incompetence, the Order of the Silver Rose, oathbreakers, extreme heat, reality tv, and rap music.
Sexual ons:  BDSM, medium to heavy bondage, tentacles, futanari, demons, oil, gags, blindfolds, restraints, romance surprisingly, sensory play, enema play, collars, pegging, piercings, tattoos, exotic cocks, sensual, rough and passionate, blood play, groups/orgies, and even the occasional rape.
Sexual offs:  Bathroom related shenanigans, beasts, bodily waste, (clean enema play is the exception), mutilation, death.  (See RP preferences for the rest.)

Face Claims:  Nicki Minaj

Arcanist

Name:Ines Langenberg
Age:18
Gender:Female
Book Holder:  Holder of the original Key of Solomon

Book Speciality: Conjurations, Invocations and curses to summon and constrain spirits of the dead and demons in order to compel them to the holder’s will. The holder’s sphere of influence is spirits, either tangible or intangible, demons and to some extent angels. The magic is divine in nature.

Ritual Spells: Summoning of demons or the dead to bind them into service. Depending on the strength of the demon, it may require an exchange, for example, the commanding of a Demon of the higher court. However, because it is the Key of Solomon, and based on the pact and bindings made by King Solomon, most demons and spirts are bound to provide all necessary assistance without exchange of favor or service. With these rituals, Ines can also request for knowledge, locations of entities and objects as well as protection.

Frequent Spells:
Banishment of Solomon – Ines can banish spirts and demons. Returning them to rest or their home plane. This can also be used to break enchantments and possessions.

Bindings of Solomon – Ines can bind her target or targets in rings of force. The bindings are meant for spirits and demons. Although harder, she can bind mere mortals as well, unless they are otherwise possessed, controlled, or influenced by spirts or demons.

Protection of Solomon – Ines is constantly protected to some extent from the attacks of spirits and demons. This can either be physical, psychological or spiritual attacks.

Djinn companion:  Azril Cade, True Name: Dethanatos

Appearance:  Unlike the stereotype of a typical blonde busty Swede, Ines has long brown hair, brown eyes and not very busty. However, she has the same exotic well shaped European features. Used to working outdoors, Ines is normally tanned, fit and lithe as a Mountain Gazelle, a native fauna of the Middle East.

Personality: Due to the constant relocating as a child, Ines did not have time to make many friends. As such, although she can socialize and make conversation, she lacks the skills to maintain any long-term relationships. Ines is an introvert and prefers to study than to party. However, she understands her short falls and tries to improve, if a bit half-heartedly. Her experience in the Middle East has made her strong but a little more cautious. She still has nightmares from the incident, and part of her knows what she did when she ordered the djinn to protect her. However, another part of her still refuses to acknowledge what had happened. She does not have a love life or many friends. But like all girls, she does fantasize for someone to fill her loneliness. She longs for someone strong, to take charge and protect her. She is old-fashioned that way. But, that is if she allows him or her to do so.

Sexual Orientation: Bisexual

Bio: The daughter of Swedish career diplomats, she moved from country to country with her parents. As such, she studied in the best international schools all around the world. By the age of 12, she had studied in most of Western Europe, including England, Switzerland, Belgium, and Germany. By aged 16, she had studied in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, and Yemen. A Polyglot, she could not only speak in her native tongue of Swedish and Finnish but soon became fluent in Arabic, Kurdish, Hebrew, English, Romani, French, and German.

At 17, Ines’ parents moved to New York, her father taking up a position in the United Nations as a representative of Sweden. Ines was enrolled at a prestigious college on the outskirts of New York majoring in Ancient History and Archaeology. Her love and knowledge of the middle-east making it an easy decision. Her language skills an asset, she was soon taken under the wing of Professor Chisolm.

Professor Chisolm, was a renowned academic and archaeologist, specializing in the Middle East and Biblical Archaeology. He offered to be her academic supervisor and mentor. His own research had led him to find an important discovery, that of the resting place of one of the key advisors to King Solomon, which in itself was unfathomable. Ines was among those chosen to take part in the dig and will co-publish the findings with the Professor and another fellow academic, Jackson. She jumped at the opportunity and started her own preparations. The only issue was that the dig site was in Afghanistan. But it was the find of the century, at least in Professor Chisolm’s eyes.

It was about this time that she found the book. Or perhaps the book found her. “Mafteah Shelomoh”, or the “Key of Solomon”. It was not a mass-produced facsimile of the 14th Century Latin Version but the original book that influenced it. It was just sitting there in her pile of books. A gage perhaps. After all it was in Swedish. The fact that there was no tag on it only reinforced her belief. At least it would make some good reading. Little did she know, the book has found its new holder.

Later that night, while flipping its pages she found quite a number of rituals. There was one ritual that tickled her fancy. How to summon and bind a Djinn. Djinn or Jinn in Arabic were spirits or demons in early Arabic and Islamic Mythology and Theology. She needed a bit company from a tall, dark, handsome stranger. Someone to teach her. She was never called spontaneous, but tonight was going to be different. She gathered the materials and started the ritual. Drawing the complicated diagram on the floor with blessed chalk, she lit the candles and recited the magical incantations in Arabic. At first, the words that poured from her lips were hesitant, but soon it took a life of its own. Lost in the moment, she soon finished the incantations, not really remembering what she recited only that she had repeated the name Dethanatos over and over again.

Nothing really happened. No tall, dark, handsome Djinn, no Hollywood special effects, not even an extinguishment of a candle. However, looking at the “Swedish” grimoire again, it was a little puzzling that she had recited the incantations in Arabic. Perhaps it was all in her head, and perhaps she could bring to life this tall, dark, handsome man in her head too. After a long hot shower, she returned to her bed, the tall, dark, handsome man beside her, at least in her mind, and a very powerful Hitachi. Who needs a man when you have a vivid imagination.

One week later, the approvals and official documents arrived. The journey to the dig in Afghanistan was uneventful. The dig was all that was promised to Ines and more. She was in her element. Her language skills, knowledge and experience in the Middle East proved very useful to the team. Despite being female, she established a strong rapport with the local hire and government officials. Within two weeks, they found what could possibly be the entrance to the tomb in a previously unexplored cave. In fact, it felt like Ines was being led there. By the beginning of the third week, they were ready to breach the entrance.

It was far more than they imagined. In the tomb was a slab and an intact skeleton that seems to be made of gold sat on it. However their elation was interrupted by gunfire. Upon investigating, Ines, the Professor and Jackson found bearded armed men either killing the locals or herding them to god knows what fate. Some seem to be actively searching the dig site. Perhaps they were unscrupulous treasure hunters or worse Islamic Militants.

It was only a matter of time before they were found out. Jackson, panicking, rushes out, heading for a 4WD. Spotted quickly, he was swiftly gunned down. The Professor, pushing Ines deeper into the cave, walked out to surrender himself, knowing that perhaps offering himself up as a potential hostage they would leave. Rushing into the caves, hoping against all hope of another exit, she soon heard a single gunshot, and then voices in the tomb.

There were no other exits. She returned to the tomb. If she were lucky, she would die here. If not, perhaps a fate worse than death. They were coming closer. Wait, they will take their find and sell it to the highest bidder. The finding belonged to everyone. Moving in front of the slab and bones, her last act of defiance. Perhaps she could fight them off. That thought almost left her mind as she sees the men enter the tomb. They were laughing at her. One even said in Arabic, “We will take our time with this one. We will enjoy her for the months to come”.

Then a voice, she recognized as her own flowed from her mouth. Yet, it was not. Dethanatos…Denthantos أ ملكتي أتسمعي ندائي؟! (Heed my call) I command thee to protect me and these fragile bones. Everything seems to blank out as a weakness overcomes her. Falling, she sees a shadow appear from the corner of right eye. A Tall Dark Handsome man…..

Ines woke up in an Afghanistan American Army Hospital a few days later. She was the only survivor with no memory of what had happened. Only that it was a blood bath. The men who executed the participants of the dig where themselves slaughtered to the man. All twenty of them. Even the hardened elite soldiers that found her at the dig site were haunted by the what they found. Ines found herself on the next flight out of Afghanistan.

Here we go! I wanted to make a character that could really manipulate reality with her book, but has some very stringent rules that keep her from doing it without a long and complicated path to get there.

She can give a person almost anything they want... In exchange for a couple of teensy weensy personal liberties.

Name: Jane Doe
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Book Holder:
The Anarchist's Arcana - A book that describes freedom as if it were a physical substance. Something that can be given and taken, but never created. Through it, one learns the true nature of freedom and how to harness it. It teaches that to existence itself is just another kind of bondage. One must choose what shackles they are bound by to find true freedom in life. The book isn't strictly good nor evil, but it holds a deep connection to change the disrupting influence of chaos.

The book contains just one spell that functions as the cornerstone for the entire tome. All things in existence are enslaved by laws, rules and magic. However, these laws are not sacrosanct. The singular spell in this tome disrupts these laws by trading one binding for another. Its simplicity is only matched by it's incredibly wide range of uses. With it, one erase a magically binding contract, or free one from the laws of gravity to fly freely in the sky. It can even unshackle one from the flow time, granting eternal youth.

However, these spells comes at a high price. When one freedom is given, another must be taken. The magic grants freedom from laws, but due to the nature of the spell, another must be forged in its place. To free one from a magical contract, a new one must be forged of equal or greater severity. If someone wished to fly, they might permanently lose the ability to walk or grasp objects. Often, the price is subservience to the holder of the book, who use the freedom gained as a catalyst to break shackles of their own without paying a price. Freedoms cannot be taken twice, and something else must be offered in order for multiple spells to affect one person.

Also, while the spell in this tome is very powerful, casting it upon another creature requires their consent. Much like a contract, the caster must request to cast a spell upon another. If the caster lies about what the spell does during their request, the spell will have no effect. There isn't any rule against being misleading, however.

The Anarchist's spell can be broken with strong magic, albiet with certain conditions. First, the spell cannot be broken unless the person affected by it truly wishes for it to be broken. Second, the price and the benefit of the Anarchist's spell are a packaged deal, wrapped in twine fashioned from the threads of Fate. Breaking the spell puts a curse upon the formerly ensorceled, causing the abilities, objects, and status they gained from their deal to slip out of their fingers quickly.

Example Spells

Freedom from Society:
This spell rearranges reality to grant one freedom from the crimes they have committed and debts they have accrued. Those given this freedom will recieve the money to pay off their loans, and the crimes they have committed will be forgotten in the eyes of those currently hunting them. All at a cost to freedom, of course.

Freedom from Space:
This spell grants one the ability to create portals to wherever they please, freeing them from almost any confinement. All at a cost to freedom, of course.

Freedom from Weakness:
This spell causes the subject to gain great strength and resiliance. It can do anything from give the crippled the ability to walk, or grant someone twice the strength they once had. All at a cost to freedom, of course.

Freedom from Enchantment:
This spell can end mind affecting enchantments, and even grant immunity to such effects. All at a cost to freedom, of course.

Hunter/Ravished Cultist: No

Demon Companion No

Appearance:
A physically frail woman, Jane walks with a noticable limp that forces her to use a cane to get around. Her platinum hair and pale skin make clear that she is noticeably albino. These disadvantages are a result of Jane's magic, after trading away some of her freedoms for others. Strangely, no one seems to remember her original appearance. She moves with a kind of sureness to herself that belie these apparent shortcomings.

Jane usually wears heavy clothing like sweaters and jeans to cover herself. Her skin, as one might imagine, does not do well in sunlight and she does her best to avoid the sun at all costs.

Sexual Orientation: Lesbian

Personality:
Jane is has very enigmatic personality, and her true intentions are hard to pin down. Despite this, Jane has a great affinity with those who are struggling to get through life or are enduring hardship. She finds herself drawn to them, bearing equally manipulative and magnanimous intentions to help them... If she can, at least.

On the topic of money, Jane is infamously stingy and loathes spending. She refuses to buy anything expensive, preferring to be as cheap as possible at all times. This stems from her upbringing in an otherwise poor household.

One thing that hasn't changed is her intelligence, which is very keen. She was only able to attend the university using scholarship money, and earned it with a stellar GPA and exam scores.

Bio:
Jane comes from a broken household. When she was five years old her father, a former stock broker, lost everything in a cataclysmic financial collapse that reduced her family's bank account from seven figures to three. Neither of her parents took it well. Her mother outright abandoned the family, disappearing without a word. Her father, on the other hand, turned both abusive and irresponsible. He raised a hand to his daughter more than once, and squandered her college fund on alchohol, sex, drugs and anything that could mask ever-mounting failures from both himself and others.

This took quite a toll on Jane's mind, and she is still changed by it to this day. However, though not unscathed, she did persevere. With home-life being a true terror, she worked tooth and nail to stay in school, studying religiously to earn stellar grades and the chance to escape the hell that was her home-life. When Jane graduated, she was one of the very few that year to earn a perfect score on her SAT, and it earned her a scholarship to the campus. The memories of what waits at home haunts her, and she will do whatever it takes to keep hold of the freedom she gained with her own two hands.

This is, perhaps, why the Anarchist's Arcana called to her. In ancient times, it was used by former slaves to rebel and overthrow their masters. However, such stories of oppression are hard-found on a college campus. Jane is blurry about what happened after discovering it. Perhaps that bit of her memory was part of a deal she made with herself.

Regardless, she has the Arcana and she knows how to use it. It's easy to learn from a book that only has one spell.

Casual ons: Studying, Being in Control, Emotionally Troubled People, Wallflowers, Cheap Clothes, Cheap Food, Distractions
Casual offs: Parents, Failure, Expensive things, Losing control

Sexual ons: BDSM (as the Dom), Dub-Con, Consentual Sadism, Slavery(as the owner), Anything that gives her control over a partner.
Sexual offs: Gore, Snuff, Vore, Scat, Not being in control

Question, a cost to freedom, what would that entail exactly?  I like the general idea, it just seems a little weird for a Book to have only one spell, especially since each, while they have the same knowledge hidden between their pages, adapts to form what that person most desires as far as the power it reveals to them.  Spells, plural, rather than a singular one with multiple facets, which is again just a little weird for me.  It's a VERY good idea, don't mistake me, it's just not what I had originally envisioned is all lol.  I like her though, I just need some clarification is all.  :D  Otherwise I think she's good to go Farfetched, so welcome to the madness!

That is a good question.

'The Costs of Freedom', basically corresponds to taking away things a person can do. For example...

A normal person is "Free to walk wherever they wish". The cost of the spell could rob them of their ability to walk without someone telling them to,  leave them totally chairbound, or with a major limp like Jane has.

A normal person could be "Free to feel the sun's rays." The cost of the spell could make the sun literally burn them like a vampire or, in Jane's case, make the sun harmful to her body.

It can also go darker. If Jane wanted some extra freedom for casting, she could also ask for someone's "Freedom to Disobey," making them unable to defy Jane's wants and needs. Overall, it is kind of like contract magic but with a flavorful spin on it.

Does that make sense? As for the book's lack of spells- you could probably chalk it up to Jane's singleminded nature. More than anything, Jane is afraid of losing control, and will go to extreme and obsessive lengths to ensure it.

Vergil1989

Gotcha.  ;D  I can get behind that, and yeah that makes sense, it was just weird at first glance.  As long as the 'terms and conditions' are spelled out clearly anytime a spell is used, more for our sake than any in character stuff, and she DOESN'T draw attention to herself or the supernatural in general, at least as much as possible at least, then I'm all for it.  ;D

Name: Veshtal Vagori, but most just call it, "Ghost"
Age: 650, or somewhere thereabouts.
Gender: Agender, but takes the pronouns of the body it inhabits. It tends to prefer male bodies.
Book Holder: No
Demon companion: No
Hunter/Ravished Cultist: No
Appearance: In its true form, Ghost has no corporeal body. It appears as a humanoid shadow upon the wall, possessing no visible eyes or notable features. In this form, its only methods of communication are telepathic, and it cannot meaningfully affect the world. It possesses the bodies of mortals to gain a real body, and is fond of switching bodies frequently to experience new things and cause more chaos in its own wake.
Personality: Ghost is a cruel trickster. Its favorite pastime is ruining people's lives and reputations by taking their bodies and causing them to commit heinous acts (though it is not above petty cheating scandals and the like). It is also known to favor carnal activities, with lust a driving factor in many of its decisions (which is somewhat ironic, as its true form possesses no means to have sex). Its true personality outside of that is difficult to discern, though, as it seems to change its mind on things as quickly as it changes bodies. It is fluid and unreliable, a foe to many and friend to few.
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual, but prefers to sleep with the opposite sex of its current body.
Bio:
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Ghost is a demon of an unusual sort. It resembles a lust demon like a succubus or incubus in some regards, but its incorporeal form and focus on possession rather than shapeshifting and enchantment create stark contrasts to the creatures.
Ghost came into being some centuries ago. It actually only spent a few short decades in Hell, before moving to the planet Earth to toy with the beings there. It has had a lot of fun over the centuries. It has caused scandals among royalty, sent thousands to their deaths while possessing military generals, and formented revolts across the world.
One of Ghost's favorite roles to play was in the French Revolution, when, following peasant revolts, a new government was formed and it took the body of a powerful politician: Maximilien Robespierre. Under Ghost's control, people were executed by the hundreds, to Ghost's great delight. Robespierre became a villain, when he had grew as a hero of the Revolution. This could have gone on for much longer, but then Ghost met its first hunters: the French Fraternité des ongles en fer (Iron Nail Brotherhood). They had been investigating demonic influence for years at that point, and finally found Ghost in Robespierre's body. Ghost abandoned Robespierre as his neck was placed into the guillotine. The Brotherhood wrongly thought they killed the demon, while Ghost slipped away and left an innocent man to die.
Eventually, Ghost found its way to the United States of America. It's stayed along the eastern seaboard for the most part, finding its joys in harassing wealthy financiers and politicians. Some of America's greatest conflicts and scandals have attracted, or even been caused by Ghost. It has brought down bankers and governors, turned brother against brother, and created decades-long feuds between otherwise rational beings. Its activities have been discovered more than once by America's Order of the Silver Rose, but when the heat gets too high, it just jumps to a different body and lies low.
The only people Ghost will not possess are hunters, especially those in an actual demon-slaying organization. If Ghost fears anything, it is these hunters, and it believes that trying to get too close to them may backfire by letting them actually catch and kill its true form. Interestingly, it also cannot possess creatures other than humans - it isn't entirely sure why this is, but just accepts the limit on its power.

Casual ons: Ghost enjoys harassing humans, experiencing new lives, and junk food.
Casual offs: Being stuck in one place or person too long – Ghost needs new experiences to remain happy, with the only exceptions being very powerful people he can use to commit real atrocities with.
Sexual ons: Ghost adores playing with his partners' emotions, letting them think that it is the actual person that it is possessing. Other than that, it also enjoys non-con and slavery (though only as the cruel master or mistress).
Sexual offs: None, really (though the player off's apply to actually roleplaying it out).

Face Claims:  Will change frequently, as Ghost rarely stays in one body.
Additional Notes/Photos/Music/etc
None yet.

Vergil1989

He might want to be careful around someone as powerful or resourceful as Juliet, or she'll find a way to trap him in the body of a crippled man and leave him to die in some hospital.  :P  Joking aside, while I AM curious about some of his more enjoyable possessions, at the very least, what it was like when he first showed up on Earth, he looks pretty good as a character Lego.  I like it!

Yeah, that's its biggest liability. It dies if the body it is in dies. It's been careful to abandon its host bodies if death seems likely, and is never found on any kind of battlefield.

Deathnote

#100
Name: Rock Aldrin
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Book Holder: "The book of space, time, and reality" - Upon the book's realization that its current holder... is an idiot, the contents of the book have been changed into something... a little easier to understand.  In the hands of someone who can understand advanced physics and how spatial and temporal dimensions work, the book could potentially be incredibly powerful.  After the change, however, most of the pages are made up of easy-to-understand diagrams and comic panels.  It is currently unknown why exactly Rock was chosen by the book to be its current holder... as the book appears to hold little to no respect for him.

In its current form, the book describes magic that can bend space and time.  For example, it can allow two or more people to hold an entire conversation within a single second.  It can also grant instant teleportation and access to pocket dimensions.

Example spells:

Super-speed: This spell allows the caster to "stop time" for a few seconds.  The caster's perception of time accelerates to the point where everything around them appears to have come to a standstill for up to six seconds.  Doing this takes up a lot of energy, meaning that anyone affected by this spell would have to consume a lot more food than the average person of their size and age.

Teleportation: This spell allows one to immediately teleport to any destination that is either within sight or that they've been to at least once before.  The teleportation happens immediately and anyone who's in direct physical contact with the caster may be brought along for the ride.  Obviously, the longer the distance teleported, the more exhausting it will be for the caster, especially if passengers are brought along.

Pocket Dimension: Creates a pocket dimension in which objects can be stored indefinitely.  They maintain the properties that they held when they were stored, so for example, a bucket of ice could be stored for an entire week without melting.  Technically, this is the same spell as teleportation as in order to teleport, the caster would have to pass through their own personal pocket dimension first.  While there is no actual cost to storing objects, accessing a pocket dimension can take energy from the caster depending on the mass of the stored object.

Psychometry: By making physical contact an object, the caster is able to perfectly recall the events of what happened to said object up to 24 hours ago.  Doing so, however, may remove an equivalent length of memories from the caster.  For example, a one minute vision causes the caster to lose one minute worth of memories.

Dimensional Barrier: This allows the caster to erect a dimensional barrier that can protect against even high-yield explosives.  In order to use this spell, however, the caster must 'collect' pain by either inflicting it upon others or by experiencing it themselves.  This pain can either be physical or psychological.  The stronger and more devastating the pain, the stronger the barrier becomes.

Memory Steal: This allows the caster to take away another person's memories.  It requires direct physical contact and can only wipe away memories within the past 24 hours.  The caster may either keep these memories for themselves or use them as a substitute cost for the other spells.

Mental Boost: This allows the caster to more perfectly recall their own memories, become more focused, and receive a boost in willpower.  Their cognitive functions improve to the point where they may even have a chance of shaking off mind-control.  In exchange, the caster may temporarily become apathetic and emotionally distant.

Prophetic Vision: Completely out of the caster's control, these visions happen as part of a dream.  Due to the vague and incomprehensible nature of these dreams, it can be incredibly difficult to decipher the future events depicted within them.

Demon companion: Vacant
Hunter/Ravished Cultist: Once clocked in more than 3000 hours on Coun- what do you mean that doesn't count?!
Appearance: Standing around around 5 ft 10 in, Rock has jet black hair and dark brown eyes.  He normally dresses in hoodies, t-shirts, jeans, or other casual clothes.

Personality: Normally an easy-going person with a carefree and lackadaisical attitude and approach to things.  He has a tendency to be hot-headed and impatient and is the type to act before he thinks, which has gotten him into trouble more than once before.  If he unintentionally insults someone, he will display genuine regret, apologizing or offering to make it up to the offended party.  He makes an effort to be friendly to other people and displays loyalty to those he's closest to.  With an adventurous spirit, he's willing to give (almost) anything a try.

Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Bio: The youngest of three siblings, Rock grew up in a normal house with a normal family.  He liked and watched the same TV shows everyone else did, read the same books as everyone else did, and listened to the same music as everyone else did.  In spite of this, he gained a bit of a reputation due to his willingness to try out new things that catch his interest.  For example, after watching a street magician's performance live for the first time, Rock attempted to give it a shot.  He gave up after a couple weeks, though.  He impulsively took home economics during the height of Gordon Ramsay's popularity (he got a passing grade), tried out for the school play when he found out they were short on people (he got a part with two lines), and attempted to write a novel (did not make it past the first page).  On multiple occasions, he has attempted to get into the Guinness Book of World Records.  He's done the ice-bucket challenge, the cinnamon challenge, the bottle flipping challenge, etc... Just about the only thing he eventually went back to doing was practicing magic tricks and volunteering at the local hospital.  He did scale back on this tendency to pick-up random hobbies after graduating high school, though.

When it came to his studies, Rock was a slacker through and through.  He pretty much coasted through high school without putting much effort in.  Although he graduated with impressive grades, as soon as he entered college, he found himself on the verge of failing his courses.  He had never really developed any study habits before attending college and as a result, performed poorly during his freshman year.

It was by complete accident that Rock had stumbled across "The Book of Space, Time, and Reality" The Book of Comedy, Drama, and Entertainment.  Having heard that he could buy second-hand books at a much lower price than the college bookstore, Rock looked up a few bookstores that might sell them.  He got the address wrong, got lost for two hours, and ended up buying the wrong book.  Upon realizing that he bought the wrong book, he attempted to go back to the bookstore to get it refunded... but was unable to find it.  He then noticed a sign on one of the other bookstores stating that second-hand textbook sales were final... and figured he wouldn't be able to get a refund even if he found the right bookstore anyway.  As a result, he ended up becoming a book holder.

Upon becoming a book holder, Rock used his newfound abilities to... become a street performer to pay for his hammer-space's storage fees.

Lol....well, this is....different.  I'm not sure what to say about this one Deathnote.  That said, if this was more of a comedy I'd happily allow Rock as he is as far as his 'magic' is concerned, but it's just too....fourth wall breaky?  It's a little too Deadpool, I guess, which again, if this was more of a comedy and less of a potential horrorfest, I'd be fine with all that you have listed for his magic related stuff.  Black holes, time manipulation, stuff like that would probably fit much better than the more....comedic bend you've given his magic.  Sorry for the trouble though Deathnote, but otherwise Rock's fine as a character.  It's only his magic that needs to be given a more serious angle.  The comic book style of his Book is fine to stay as it is though, so feel free to keep that if you wish.  :D

(It's not my call but if anyone cares about my input) gotta agree, especially the time travel thing. Time travel in an RP basically means that that character can "roll back" the entire RP if they please, as if they deleted everyone else's posts that occurred after time X that that character traveled back to.

IMO that would only be a good idea in a multi-person RP (aka not a story written by one person anyway) if 1. they are creating a branching timeline that doesn't preclude others from continuing with the original (in case it's basically that character splitting off into a 2nd RP) or 2. the GM doing it if the RP fucks itself over somehow and the RP needs to be rebooted.

Vergil1989

You're fine FF, especially since you're right in your own way about why it might not work so well for this kind of game.

Right, but I would imagine that most who release their inner darkness would first, and very firmly, believe it would come from a source other than themselves.

And Doc?  Haven't heard from you for a couple days, still interested or have you decided not to join?  I'm merely asking since it sounded like you had a fairly interesting idea for a character last we talked.

Deathnote

Yeah... one of the reasons why I went with the comedic route was to nerf what would obviously be incredibly powerful spells.

I can change them to be less goofy, of course.  I'm just trying to figure out what sort of drawbacks I should use.

Maybe increasing own's own perception of time could take a lot of energy, so it increases Rock's caloric intake?

I don't intend to use the time-rewind spell without express permission from the GM, so... maybe life-span could be the cost there?  One minute of rewind = One year of the caster's life-span?

Not sure what to do about pocket-dimensions, though.  Maybe it's how he teleports from place to place.

Comedic isn't really the same thing as nerfed, though. Like when Deadpool shoots a guy and then turns to the camera to make a joke, he still shot the guy.

Saric

I have an... odd question. Are there any non-humans that aren't demons in this setting? Like werewolves, vampires or demonic halfbreeds or the like? And are people allowed to play magic users of any significant power without being Cultists or Hunters? I kind of like the idea of playing someone, or something, magically 'neutral' but potent and having the two sides, and various factions, fight over their allegiance. >:)

Gotta agree with FF on this one Deathnote.  You need to rework your magic considerably before I'd allow you to join.  That means no outright altering time streams without some HEAVY plot management and the agreement of everyone involved currently, so yeah....no, sorry but no outright time magic please.  Black holes, travel between realities to escape danger, opening portals from point A to point B, etc, these are all fine.  Stopping time for a few seconds, also fine, but altering time in such a way as to create an entirely different continuity?  Not so good.

And Saric, glad to see ya.  ;D  To answer your question, there's KINDA already someone like that running around, although part of it involves his Book having woken up his demonic nature while someone else simply accelerated the process once activated.  So yeah, depending on how well it's explained, I don't see a problem with your idea.  :D  I don't have vampires or werewolves in mind for any of this, but half breed demons and such?  I'd be willing to take a look and see what you can come up with Saric.

Okay but would a half-demon be pursued as a potential ally by the Order of the Silver Rose? I kind of wanted to make a character that could play both sides off each other for their personal benefit, maybe even try seducing those sent to convert him into his own servants to become a force in his own right.

If you wanted to just stick to the 'battle between good and evil' that's fine and I'll work on another idea, that was just what popped into my head as a means of adding to the chaos. :P

Possibly he could get his power from a 'corrupted' or damaged book instead? Like much of the power is still there, but not all of it, but it's no longer linked to the forces of darkness?

No damaged Books, sorry.  There are other ways to learn magic of course, but no, not through a damaged Book.  And truth be told, I'd rather not have a 'third party' involved in things, so yeah....I mean he can serve his own interests, he can be doing his own thing, but let's keep things simple shall we?  :P

DrMcQuark

Finally!!  :D

Please let me know if you think she needs any changes.

Name: Madea Kashani
Age: 28
Gender: Female

Book Holder: The Book of Desert Sands
The book focuses on the striking transformative effect of the desert to mold, shape, build and destroy anything within its domain. Taking and restoring life energies; summoning desert spirits; reshaping the landscape or living beings. The elements of wind, water, earth and even fire are within the purview of this book.

Example Spells:

Spirits of Wind and Sand
This spell summons spirits that can create sandstorms of various intensity, from simply annoyance to storms strong enough to errode stone, clog lungs and permanently blind.

Waters of the Oasis
Allows the caster to fill any vessel with water or wash over any area. With more skill the caster can create water that will heal or completely transform an object or person.

Summon the Djinn
This spell brings forth a Djinn to do the bidding of the summoner for the time it takes the sand to is not sufficient, the Djinn will take the life force of the summoner in proportion to the tasks it has performed. This may, or may not, be fatal to the summoner.

Jasmine Breeze
While the spell suggests this is a love spell, it is closer to a lust spell. The subject of the spell loses all inhibitions and is aroused to uncontrollable levels. They become very suggestable, doing nearly anything the spell caster asks of them.

Demon companion: Not Yet
Hunter/Ravished Cultist: No

Appearance: 5’6”, 120 lbs., Black Hair, Brown Eyes

Personality: Businesslike, firm but fair. Hard working but believes in a work/life balance for herself and her employees. Charitable, believes in giving back to the world especially causes that benefit women. Enjoys the finer things in life. She sometimes gets frustrated when things don’t go the way she believes they should. Generally speaking, she is fun and very approachable, but very quick witted and not easily fooled. She's not afraid to open her heart, risking being taken advantage of or hurt.

Sexual Orientation: Bisexual (Closeted)

Bio: Madea Kashani grew up the wealthy daughter of the CEO of a large, multinational corporation but, probably because of the influence of her mother who grew up with nothing, she managed to not become the spoiled, rich, princess most people would have thought. Instead, she became a little thorn in her father’s side. Not maliciously or with anger, but more of a conscience to the billionaire, encouraging him to run his business ethically as much as possible. Sometimes she didn’t succeed, but even when she failed to convince her father he still respected her for making the effort.

When her parents died in a tragic plane crash, control of her father's financial empire passed on to Madea along with all his worldly possessions. She stepped in effortlessly to the role of CEO and made many changes which have ruffled a few stockholders’ feathers, but the continued success of the corporation is hard to argue against. Many of these changes involved making certain that the employees had good pay, medical coverage and other benefits as well as excellent working conditions. Madea took her role as CEO very seriously and wanted to use her privileges to make the world a better place.

A year after her parent’s passing, Madea finally worked up the strength the go through her father’s personal belongings. When she was going through his library, she found an ancient book that she had never seen before. It was odd considering how much time she had spent in his library. As she turned the pages of the ancient manuscript, she realized that with no knowledge of the language the books was written in, she could read and understand the words. She has yet to really test to see if the book’s spells are what they claim to be. A way to change the world.

Casual ons: Mint tea; chocolate; sweet white wines; classic film
Casual offs: Brussels sprouts; intentional ignorance, cruelty
Sexual ons: Redheads, hosiery, heels, exotic looking women, domination, pegging

Not bad all told, although I'm curious what happened to her mother?  Otherwise, simply adding a bit more to her history, maybe a little to her personality as well, and you'd be good to go.  You can do that once she's over in the Roster of ya like, but I'd approve her Doc.  ;D  Welcome to the party.

Lol I see that.

Not bad though all told, feel free to make an OOC post and start plotting with folks if ya like Doc or go ahead and join an Open scene in one of the ICs, whatever ya like.  See ya soon!

Everyone, Legomaster is the only Hunter for the Order of the Silver Rose we have currently.  If anyone wants to sign on, please consider doing a Hunter first.  We still need a couple of guys as well, but otherwise I'm happy to accept whoever.  See ya!

I see that Deathnote.  Not bad all told.  Welcome to the show.

EDIT:  We're needing more people guys and gals.  I'll have to recount the roles that need filled since we lost one person and another has yet to post anything as of yet, but I know we need more Hunters if we want them to be a presence at all.  Otherwise I THINK we have all our Book Holders thus far, although again that might be changing if our currently inactive player doesn't post something beyond an OOC comment and his character sheet.  Otherwise though the rest of the role counts should be good as it stands currently.

Life just sorta punched me in the gut with a work load that is trying to drive me mad, so I hadn't really been putting myself out there for side scenes and been sticking to the few that I had open. Things only have gotten worse and I'm sick to boot.

Sorry I hadn't posted to inform anyone, at first I was just waiting on the scene I was in to get posted to and then chaos ensued.

You're fine Sketch.  Life happened to me too honestly, but I DO have a new, far more friendly modern fantasy story interest thread I'm hoping to get people for on top of looking for a cleric or paladin of some sort for a D&D 5e game right here on E, with me as the first time DM no less.  If you or anyone else here wants to check 'em out, most of you are more than welcome to do so if you get a chance.  Otherwise, take care of yourselves and good luck to you, truly.  :D
