Maybe Runa helps her fight off a minor monster? And Annabella kind of explains her confusion. Runa decides to help her out, meeting some of the others out. She'd be a bit stand offish but Runa would want to help. Have that awkward getting to know each other stuff. :P

Vergil1989

Kobolds are the only weak enemies I can easily think of that are actually monster in nature lol.  And confusion?  Annabella is outright afraid of people and seeing one of her DnD monsters/races/etc come to life in at least one form or another will probably make her freak all the more at first lol.  Although seeing her favorite pastime come to life might be quite fun after she gets over the fact they aren't on Earth anymore.  :D

O.k. made a character list (mostly to make things easy for myself lol) and we are pretty well balanced on the male/female ratio in town, but we have no guys AT ALL from outside of town! Oh, and overall, the menfolk are WAY outnumbered! Heheheh this could be good or bad, depending on POV's.

I figured some people will freak out, some people will try and do the being in charge thing, some people will just be utterly confused and so forth. And there can be some dire rats, they always seem to be the classic low level monsters for any of my d&d games. Maybe the sudden bright light scared them out of their hiding places?

Theres usually soemone that tries to take advantage of the situation. Several someones, horders, someone lookign to make a quick buck or get some power.

Vergil1989

Indeed.  Well, I'm off to make some new 'friends' with the locals in our new world I think.  Anyone care to join me?  :P  The IC thread is up guys and gals, just to let everyone know that didn't know already.  As is the OOC and the character thread.  Anyway, see ya around.

IMPORTANT UPDATE as of October 6th 2016 in A/A page

Chaeronea

Okay, my character is almost complete, should be up in the next day or so. Anyway I was wondering with the time of year, would high school still be holding lessons or would it be on some sort of break? My character's 18 years old and I was wondering whether he'd be getting ready to head off to class or whether he'd be enjoying free time? (I'm not from the US so I'm not familiar with how the school year is set up).

According to my character's background his dad is a former Marine who had some experience with the infrastructure rebuilding projects in Iraq and Afghanistan, which he parlayed to get into the construction industry once he mustered out. Anon, would it be possible that it was your character's construction company that my character's dad works for, and as a result our characters know each other in passing?

yesiroleplay

The game is set in the Fall, at the end of the summer school holiday for US students.  If your character is 18, he probably finished high school earlier in the year, around May (spring for us Northerners).
My character is also 18, and would most likely have been in the same class as your character, as she graduated in May and has/had plans to move on to University when the Fall Term begins in just a few weeks.

Chaeronea

Okay, here's my character proposal. Wish me luck...

Russell Davis

Basic Attributes

* Given Name: Russell Kevin Davis

* Nicknames:Rusty (not one he's fond of), Russ

* Gender: Male

* Appearance:
Russell has a lean but athletic build with well-defined muscles. His face is handsome and his mouth is usually twisted in a charming yet mischievous grin. His brown hair is short but usually tousled. His eyes are a smoky grey.

- Age: 18

- Height: 6' 1"
- Weight: 180 lbs
- Hair Color/Style: Dark brown, short but frequently tousled
- Eye Color: Grey
- Makeup: none
- Clothing: Russell usually dresses casually, favouring jeans or cargo pants, work or combat boots and T-shirts. He does own several high-quality suits and formal outfits (for occasions like school prom), but rarely has occasion to wear them.
- Jewelry: None

* Race: Human

* Physical Abilities:

Since he's trained in hopes of becoming a Marine from a young age Russell Davis is quite fit and fast on his feet. (Several of his friends comment that he gets plenty of exercise jumping into situations head-first and pushing his luck). His father has trained him in marksmanship (especially with rifles) and fieldcraft, and his knowledge of survival techniques and hunting has been honed by numerous camping trips. From his hunting he knows how to skin and dress a kill, and has a fair knowledge of how to cook - his meals are not cordon bleu standard but they are edible. Russell has also trained in unarmed combat. Because of his frequent camping trips with his father Russell is moderately competent with first aid. While his sister is a better singer than he is, he can carry a decent tune and can play the guitar rather well.

Personality;

At first glance Russell appears to be a stereotypical American teenager focused on getting decent grades, flirting with cute girls and generally having fun. He's very much a 'live for the moment' kind of guy. Although he knows how to have fun and enjoys cutting loose he is actually rather mature for his age. Russell knows he has a lot more training than most people his age, so he tends to take the initiative and charge ahead unless someone else reins him in. Russell also firmly believes in backing those he feels responsible for to the point of being somewhat overprotective, and while he isn't a bully or thug he feels little remorse about getting into a punch-up with someone who hurts or attacks those he cares about.

Background;

Born the son of John Davis, a US Marine combat engineer, and Robyn Davis, a civilian nurse who retired to become a full-time parent, Russell grew up in a number of different places within the United States as his father was moved around from base to base. He lived in off-base housing with his mother, as his parents wanted their son to have as normal a life as possible rather than pushing him towards a military career. However that didn't stop Russell from deciding fairly early on his own that he wanted to join the armed forces like his father and grandfather - the frequent moves made it harder for him to bond with other children his age, and he relished his father's tales of foreign lands. Russell spent as much time as he could camping, hunting and otherwise bonding with his father when he wasn't away on deployment and, while he cared for his mother, it was clear which parent he took after.

Things changed for the Davis family when John mustered out of the Corps five years ago. He wanted to spend more time with his family - Russell had just turned thirteen and his daughter Isabel was almost eleven - and he had had enough of travelling to far-off places around the world and fighting in many of them. His skills as a combat engineer as well as extensive experience in the infrastructure rebuilding projects in Afghanistan and Iraq made getting a job in the construction industry a piece of cake. However instead of taking a high-paying job with one of the large firms on the East Coast the former Marine packed up his family and moved to a small quiet town where he could spend more time being a father than a worker. He quickly took a job as a site engineer and demolitions specialist with a construction company in town and set about making a life for his family, starting by enrolling his children in the local school.

Some of the locals were a bit concerned about the new arrivals but the Davis children fitted in well to their new school. While their father had made sure Russell and Isabel knew how to defend themselves neither of them picked fights or acted aggressive towards their schoolmates, although they weren't afraid to push back when they were pushed in the playground scuffles that are par for the course for schoolkids. Both of them settled in well and quickly made friends, and set about having relatively normal school lives, although some students found Russell's intensity a bit off-putting. Most of the time he stayed out of trouble, although he did get involved in a few of the more spectacular pranks the local high school has on record. On a more serious note he has been involved in fighting with some of his fellow students, usually while protecting other students from harassment or violence. Despite these blemishes on his school record Russell graduates successfully with high, although not genius-level, marks.

With the close of the school year Russell has taken some time out to relax and indulge in some end-of-school partying with his friends even as he considers his future. John Davis, somewhat mellowed by civilian life, has spent the past several years trying to dissuade his son from joining the Marine Corps out of fear of Russell one day coming home the same way as a number of his buddies in Iraq and Afghanistan - namely, in a flag-draped coffin. Russell doesn't want to make his family worry but he's dreamed of a military career since childhood, and now is seriously considering whether to continue on his path, or change his direction and try for the more mundane path of college and a civilian career.

However the event about to befall his hometown is about to take that decision out of his hands...

I have three words I want to say to you Chaeronea.  DAMN THAT'S EPIC!  Lol ok, I'm good now, but seriously, this is one of the best profiles I've seen on E to tell the truth.  A few of the people here could say the same but you top them easily it seems.  Welcome aboard I say and Jecter would be quite a fool not to allow you into this get together.

You know,  maybe I'm just a fan of micromanagement, but shouldn't ammo be kept track of, since it's going to be something not easily replenished? This being to everybody using/will use a gun.

The real bottle neck with ammo isn't teh bullets or gunpowder. It's the brass casings and primers. Ammo will be limiting but as long as people aren't cutting down tree's with their guns and  are some what conservative it shouldn't be to bad. If you've got a flint lock musket or rifle your good! You can make everything realitively easily!

TheHangedOne

True, that, Maniac. I even once made black powder myself, as part of a science experiment. Pity I couldn't actually use it in my science fair project.

Actually, it's only the primers.  I don't think you can find a semi-rural town in America that doesn't have at least one gun-show-and-garage-gun-dealer or avid hunter that does his own reloading, and as long as you police your brass, you can reload a casing about 6-7 times.  Both black powder and smokeless powder are easy to make as long as you have nitric acid for smokeless, or nitrates and sulfur for black powder.  Nitric acid is an organic acid that's pretty easy to make.  The chemistry and packing of a primer though... that takes more knowledge and equipment than you'll find in a high school chem lab.

Also, bio-diesel isn't that hard to make from either soybean or peanut oil, and one or the other of those crops are grown in every agricultural region in North America.  Keeping a simple (read not fuel-injected or computerized) diesel engine running pretty much forever isn't all that difficult for a decent mechanic.

TheEversong

This certainly looks intriguing to me so I have two questions to ask before I throw out a character sheet.

a) Is this still open for characters? I see the IC thread has been made and I don't see a post saying that sign-ups are closed but I figured I ought to ask anyways.
b) I happened to notice that all of the "native" fantasy characters are women, would it be possible to have native male character (An elf or half-elf though I am undecided on class or occupation but I have an idea or two roaming in my mind).

Vergil1989

We need a ton of male fantasy beings so aye, go for it I say bud.  The recruitment thread is still open and will probably remain open for a good while so yeah, knock yourself.

IMPORTANT UPDATE as of October 6th 2016 in A/A page

Vergil1989

Unless there's a problem with this, I've kind of impulsively decided to take over since while I know RL is more important and everything, Jecter has proven a little too slow and since I was mostly running this game anyway I as I said, kind of impulsively decided to simply take over as the GM lol.  I kind of feel a bit embarrassed about snapping a bit as I did in the OOC at the moment but I don't want this game to die so soon after starting.  So, without further ado, let's get some more fantasy men out here shall we?  Also, Chaeronae, as I said in the OOC you're good to go bud so feel free to post in the appropriate threads as you need to.  Eversong, as I said once before, we do need more fantasy guys so feel free to draw up a character sheet if you aren't already.

I'm working on it (I decided on an Elf sorcerer). I hope to have it up tonight.

We haven't had a good mage in this game yet so that would be perfect for this Eversong.  And no problem, take whatever time you need bud.

Ah, before I forget to ask, how are we treating magic? Should I make a D&D-esque spell list so everyone has an idea what he can do so there's no "hey, where did that come from" moments later?

Vergil1989

It'd probably be a good idea aye, and really I should probably do that for Neria too now that I'm thinking about it.  Thanks!
