Its the start of the First Interstellar War, the Arachnid Empire and Skinnies (their allies no one is sure if its out of support or fear) attacked Earth with several Bug Meteors and the Federal Council declared war. You lucky people tested to bad for any other military service so are cadets in the Mobile Infantry so are one of the grunts but will get the latest in new weapons including the release of the next generation of power armor as humanity prepares to strike back.

Benefits of service including good pay, citizenship upon mustering out and Federal Service credits one per full service year and a bonus if you sign up for twenty years of two more. The war is going to be a long one and the Federation needs YOU!

Service guarantees citizenship, and civilians dig scars and artificial limbs. (lol)

Quick

I ran an Imperial Guard RPG for some peeps a while back, and the guard are very much inspired by Starship Troopers. I would be very interested in playing a game in this setting.

D8 System - Starship Troopers

The game rules are designed for on-line play and are simple its attribute and bang based a bang is what is special about you in a superhero game its a power, in a fantasy game a race, a sci-fi game a role on a ship, an area of professional training in the broad sense. You simple assign at least a +1 bonus to a bang and you have it, note its not required for a race if its human or human like enough to not be special.

ATTRIBUTES
PHYSICAL
Strength
Agility
Stamina
PERCEPTION
Smell
Hear
Vision
OTHER
Memory
I.Q.
Presence
You get in this game two at +2, three at +1 and the rest +0 OR one at +2 and six at +1. You can have up to two at -1 to add +2 points to distribute. At Troopers note you need to be decently fit and not overly handicapped in abilities so take that into account. None can be higher than +2.

BANGS
This is the fun part you will get ten points these are +1 and can be up to +4 besides the following:
Trooper (this is you overall training, conditioning, use of common weapons, tactics, using power armor, regulations and so forth everyone gets) +4
MI Specialty (this is what you do from the list below OR you can raise Trooper to +6 as a basic infantry person with additional training like Zim) +4
1. Engineer/Sapper
2. Neo-Dog Handler
3. Chaplain (yes in this game they do fight)
4. Marauder Pilot (the big marauder war machines in the book the Ape and Chicken Hawk)
5. Scout/Sniper (trained to use special lighter armor and good at aimed death shots)
6. Communications Engineer
7. Heavy Weapons Specialist (uses the big weapons like rocket launchers, portable cannons and qualified to deploy nukes)
8. Medic
CIVILIAN
You did have secondary education and learned things before joining so pick something you focused on in High School (academic track, career track) and take a Bang in it and this can be completely unrelated to the military career if you want to take as a Trade Agriculture fine you got an education to work on a farm or go on to an appropriate college in that or you want to be a Artists in Jewelry then good take that. This also covers you general education your not a dummy to be a Trooper you have to be decently teachable. So choose something and take +2 in it like Trade: Farming +2 or Art or Jewelry +2 as examples. It doesn't have to be useful taking Pre-College will consider you having a good education to be ready for college that's not bad.
HOBBIES
These are things you like to do just pick one thing at +2 and two at +1 this must be narrower examples Gardening, Play Guitar, Singing, Gaming, Swimming and such. Have fun this is supposed to be fun and round you out.

The game mechanics are simple you roll a 1d8, add an appropriate attribute and skill and any penalties to see how you do the GM will wing it determining how well you did compared to what the enemy rolled and how well you describe your actions in dramatic detail leaving out if you hit or not. Your a bad ass though in PA your easily the match of modern tanks or a platoon of elite moderns soldiers on one armored package. Bugs have numbers, humans have technology.
