"Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."

I have been wanting to try a different kind of Star Wars game. In a universe famed for its size (countless worlds, systems and galaxies) and its Jedi, I want to try a SW game without either of those.
Instead, the action would be limited to a single planet, and the players would all be regular Joes and Janes instead of Jedi.

The main plot would focus on a small rebel group that stages small operations against the Imperial garrison on their planet. So it would be more like a WWII resistance scenario fused with a Star Wars setting.

I have some plot ideas already when it comes to said rebel group, but this thread is merely aimed at seeing if there is an interest in such a game.

Some details about the world

Kevaan III – Outer Rim

Kevaan III was first colonized nearly three hundred years ago. It holds various climatological areas, though most of the surface varies from temperate to exotic in its conditions. The total population is 2.5 million settlers, scattered across half a dozen cities and settlements. There are smaller towns and mining outposts as well, but 90+% of the population lives in one of those six larger urban areas. The local economy is driven by the several sizeable mineral deposits which are mined and then processed in one of the industrialized areas. As well as a large illegal economy which has attracted its usual collection of mercenaries, bandits, cutthroats and entrepreneurs. The big money-maker in the underground has been Dream Sugar, a hallucinogen which is made from a plant that only grows on Kevaan III. Where it was initially a hit on Kevaan III itself, and then on some of the nearby Outer Rim planets, the drug has now spread across the galaxy to where it is now even sold on core worlds like Coruscant.

The largest of the cities and the planets de facto capital is Ventra Kazar. It is situated on the western-most continent and has a population of nearly 700000. It is also where most of the underground elements leadership resides, as well as the location of the largest Imperial base on the planet. Our heroes base of operations would find itself in Ventra Kazar.

My main character:

Name: Aekar Paguo

Age:   46

Species:   Zabrak

Gender:  Male

Height:   6’1

Weight:  178 lbs

Abilities:   High blaster proficiency, diplomacy, tactics, organization

Specialty:  Subterfuge

Equipment:  Besides the resources that his club provides him with, Aekar usually carries a small portable computer console on him as well as a pair of DH-17 blasters

Biography:   Aekar was born on Nar Shaddaa to a smuggler father and a mercenary mother. As such, he spent his earliest years on their ship, the Black Thorn, racing across the Outer Rim, going from job to job whilst hauling illegal cargo. When Aekar was twelve years old, their life style finally caught up to his parents and they and the rest of their crew were sent to detention centers. Aekar was instead sent to an orphanage on Phu, where he spent three miserable years before escaping. After failing to locate his parents, he returned instead to Nar Shaddaa where some of his parents former contacts got him a job working for one of the Hutts. After earning enough to buy himself a small ship, he turned to free-lance work and by the time he was 25, he was the captain of his own small cruiser and in command of a dozen or so men. He spent the next decade and a half doing much of the same work as his parents had one, only unlike them, he got out before the life caught up with him. He used some of the money he made to buy a club on Kevaan III. He still uses his underground contacts to keep a finger in many illegal broths, often times setting up deals as a middle man for a small commission. Since the Imperial presence on Kevaan III has become ever more restrictive, he has also secretly risen through the ranks of the local rebel group, to where he now leads their operation in Ventra Kazar – where his club is also located.

My secondary character:

Name: Eleanora Ynyak

Age:   23

Species:   Human (Hapan)

Gender:  Female

Height:   5’8

Weight:  128 lbs

Abilities:   Knives (throwing and wielding), blasters, seduction, dancing

Specialty:  Distraction

Equipment:  Whatever outfit she chooses to wear during her strip acts, twin Agrinium blades, five small throwing knives she wears in a garter-holster, KK-5 blaster pistol

Biography: Eleanora was born to a wealthy merchant-woman on Hapes. She never knew her father and her mother never divulged his identity, though along the years Eleanora pieced together that he had been an off-worlder from the expansion region who had only spent a brief time on Hapes. Eleanora knew from an early age that her father had not been born on her own home planet, as she herself did not have the poor night vision that plagued the rest of her race.

Eleanora was home-schooled and often times accompanied her mother on trade missions. The young woman eventually grew rebellious in her teens, and she incessantly clashed with her mother. This led to her leaving home at age 18. For a while, she bounced around the inner rim, going from planet to planet like some interplanetary tourist taking a sabbatical. Eventually she started to stray further away and visit some of the less reputable worlds in the outer rim.

She brushed shoulders with shady types and had several romances with roguish bad boys. She arrived on Kevaan III and eventually took on a job as a night club dancer in the Jack-a-dale. Dancing and stripping on stage gave her a strange thrill and sense of power, and these same emotions were mirrored when she started to participate in her boss’ rebel activities.

Eleanora’s proficiency with knives was taught from an early age, it was part of an ancient form of martial arts that many of the members of her family were trained in, the Ta’nuum. She also owes her limber body to this training. She learned to handle blasters after leaving home.

Base of operations

Aekar's club, the Jack-a-dale

Basically it's a mixture between a cantina and a nightclub. There is illegal gambling, drinks and girls who perform striptease acts/pole dances.
It's also the place where many underground figures meet business associates and strike deals.
Ignore the desert setting of the above map, this club would find itself in one of the shadier neighborhoods of Ventra Kazar.

Imperial presence on the planet

The Empire has several smaller compounds and bases around the planet, yet they have their main base of operations just outside of Ventra Kazar.
This HQ would serve as the home base to an entire Corps of Imperial soldiers, led by Major General Kulath Vathaan and his staff of officers.
A Corps would consist of some 32000 troopers, though obviously not all of them would be on the base at any given time. Some would be posted throughout Kevaan III, others still would be off-planet as part of their duty to patrol the Kevaan system and its neighbors. Besides the grunts, their complement consists of roughly 360 heavy tanks, one battalion of AT-ATs (the equivalent of 64 vehicles), one battalion of AT-STs (the equivalent of 64 vehicles) and three squadrons of TIE/gt fighters as air support (the equivalent of 36 vehicles).

all my int R goTo 12;

Liking the non-force-user focus--I always want to learn more about the rugged anons hustling about the trenches and praying to the Space Platypus the walker doesn't drop a metal foot on they ass as they chuck satchel charges and take cover from haphazard s'plazer fire.

Are you thinking Hoth-y frost planet (just judging by the image?)  Might be cool to have several biomes, make it feel real'er and give us more variety, but iGuess it's kind of a Warsy trope.

RedEve

The planet hasn't been settled yet. So it would not necessarily be an ice planet, though it might.
I think I'm leaning towards an original planet as opposed to any canon location.
It won't be one of the more prominent worlds, which means the Imperial Garrison won't be vast (though still large enough to signify a threat to the rebels).

As for the rebel group, I'm thinking about putting their base of operations in a cantina or even a "gentleman's club". Or some combination of both.
Perhaps one of the ways they identify targets for their operations is listening in on the chatter amongst their imperial patrons.

As for races, all canon races would be allowed though I would suggest that most of the population on this planet would be baseline human (as they were the original settlers).

I'm interested in playing a character like this...

(moved to PM)

RedEve

Okay, but I have not yet compiled a CS and in any case, I'd prefer it if character concepts were PMed to me first. :)

I'm thinking a tech genius think if Anakin was not force sensitive and grew up well with amazing skills at jury-rigging, customizing droids and artificial limbs and could whip up all kinds of fun toys to get the enemy with. Think sexy geek gal. And she doesn't need a blaster when you have mini-rolling blaster droids and hover drones that unleash blinding flares. ^_^

RedEve

I have edited the opening post to include a CS template. It is a slightly altered version of the one Vin used for his character.

This also means that I am accepting character sheets. Please send them to my PM inbox.

I added my main character to the opening post.
He will be the de facto leader of the rebel group.
Which means that either your character will be recruited by him IC, or if your character is already a member of the rebel group at the start of the game, he will have been recruited by Aekar or one of his associates.

Name:  Sun'kist

Age:   20

Species:   Twi'lek

Gender:  Female

Height:   5'8" (1.75 m)

Weight:  132 lbs. (60 kg)

Abilities:   Acrobatics, acting, dancing, hand-to-hand combat, computer/technical skills (bypassing security, finding information and sabotaging equipment)

Specialty:  Infiltration, espionage, sabotage

Equipment:  Blaster, knife, wardrobe, communication gear, electronics toolkit, lock picks, warbdrobe.

Biography:   Dancer.  Masseuse.  Consort.  Companion.  Slave.  Whore.  Seductress.  Dominatrix.  Thief.  Con artist.  Spy.  Sun'kist specializes in getting her fellow Rebels to feel relaxed, whether it's by lending a pair of hands, an ear, a shoulder or a lekku.

She uses wit and guile to get her way, but she can handle herself in a fight using a blaster, a knife or her bare hands.  Although she can help as muscle, she is best used for infiltration and distraction.  She also knows secrets, sells information and otherwise has access to a network of valuable contacts.  On the other hand, selling her body is for pleasure as much as business.

Sun'Kist was trained at one of the greatest dance schools on her home planet of Ryloth.  She was tricked by corrupt Republic officials into becoming a dancer for a Hutt crimelord.  Instead of customary dancing veils, Sun'kist was given a flimsy net costume held together by narrow leather straps.

The Hutt was enamored with her, and chained her by the neck to his throne as his personal property and slave girl.  Sun'Kist was forced to dance for him as well as give him pleasure when the depraved crime lord beckoned.

Defiled, miserable, and fed only scraps, she kept enduring the Hutt's carnal embrace until newer slave girls caught his eye.

Cast aside from the Hutt's harem, she was offered as part of a payment to a Zabrak clubowner and middleman, Aekar Paguo.  Although she was merely a bonus to his commission, the Zabrak offered her a job and a means to make a living of her own as a dancer.  In exchange, she pledged her loyalty to him.

Name:  Damien Wrstrydge

Age: 31

Species: Human (Tarisian)

Gender:  Male

Height:   1.87 m

Weight:  80 kg

Abilities:   Quick reaction, advanced weapons skills and tactics, advanced combat tactics, vibroblade combat, hand to hand combat, ground vehicle pilot, fluent in binary (Comprehension), Sedonian, and Huttese

Specialty:  Marksman

Equipment:  BlasTech DL-44, BlasTech E-17d sniper rifle, Macro Binoculars, Datapad, Astromech droid, Mobquet Flare-S Swoop bike

Biography:   Damien's family owned a shipping company that at times did not always operate strictly inside the law, but then again it was Outer Rimand who did?  Still it was somewhat a shock that Damien didn't go into the family business and joined Taris Security Forces (TSF) instead.   After all for the most part TSF was nothing more than a puppet of the Imperial Moff, but there were times when TSF did good for Taris in rebuilding it to its former glory, and Damien wanted to be part of that.

Damien was a natural and skilled and gifted marksman with a sharp and keen mind.  As such Damien was assigned to Special Tactics and Operations Unit as a sniper.   Damien made a name for himself, and even saved a squad of stormtroopers pinned down from an ambitious Hutt's own private security force when a large spice ring was busted open.

Damien at times ground his teeth at the other illegal activities the Imperial forced them too, but for the most part Damien did his best to do right and be a role model for his other comrades.   This changed the day he was ordered to open fire on his own brother.

Jerec, Damien's brother, was caught smuggling bacta to the undercity during an Imperial sting.   Damien's unit was providing operational support when the Imperials raided the medical shelter.   Jerec tried to tell the Imperial custom agents that it was a medical relief to help combat a new outbreak of ratghoul plague, but nothing he said convinced them.   Once the bacta was seized. Damien and his unit was ordered to fire and kill everyone in the clinic.  Damien and his unit refused, and the Imperials immediately opened fire.  During the firefight, Jerec was killed, but Damien's unit did save everyone else in the clinic.

Damien went to ground and managed to meet up with his father in Undercity in the Theta district.  That was when Damien learned the truth that his father and brother were members of the Rebellion, and that Jerec was indeed on a mission for the Alliance.   Trying to stay one step ahead of the Empire, the rest of Damien's family scattered.  Damien and his only remaining friend, his astro droid NR-D3, Damien left Taris and did his best to link up with the Rebellion, realizing that only with the Empire gone can Damien bring justice and stability back to his home planet.

Damien has been in the rebellion for the last three years, and has been a valuable help with his knowledge of Imperial tactics, and not only keeping Alliance Cells from being swept up, but also his skills in covering his team when they hit a target.   He latest assignment is now on Kevaan III.   He has been on planet for several months, and has been an invaluable asset to the team, giving Aekar's suggestions on how to keep his club Jack-a-dale, away from Imperial scrutiny,   Damien serves as muscle for the Jack-a-dale as well as an escort for the female human population.

RedEve gave me approval for Arani

Name:  Arani "Gun Witch" Thule

Age:   29

Species:    Human

Gender:  Female

Height:   6'3"

Weight:  179lbs

Abilities:   Medical, Xenobiology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Streetwise, Blasters, Bare knuckle brawler

Specialty:  +!! Mad Science !!+

Equipment:  Higgs Dominator A-77-Zed hand blaster, Sabine-Hollistor backpack portable automed unit with xenobiology add-ons, Sabine-Hollistor backpack portable chemsynth center, Lab coat, Leather Duster (with interior pockets for drugs or chemicals), Henry 50-bore tranquilizer rifle

Biography:   Arani grew up as a tomboy on the ranching planet, Katurds.  It was rough place with some vicious native fauna and an excess of testoserone.  She learned to handle blasters.  Her unusual size made it pretty easy to wade into a fight with just her fists and she got plenty of experience in that.  For the most part though, she was fascinated by the science that went into keeping livestock alive and well on alien planets.  She dreamed of becoming a xenoveterinarian and as she was a smart and studious girl, she got her chance.

With a scholarship, she attended a prestigious xenobiology university on Corusant.  Here she discover that her true calling really was with medical chemistry.  She loved the things she could do with the drugs and the sex.  She learned how to use her womanly charms and to be less of a tomboy.  She graduated with top honors, but several discipline notices for questionable morals and suspected involvement with drugs, prevented her from getting noticed by mainstream corporations.  This suited her just fine as she wanted an opportunity to do her thing in the frontier.  In the frontier she could do real science, rather than just talk or cobble together paperwork about it.

She is most comfortable as the sexy scientist/doctor at base, but when in the field she is comfortable using the skills she learned as a tomboy.  She has copious amounts of knowledge on the brewing and use of sexual and performance drugs.  She is actually conscientious about her clients being responsible users.  Arani has low tolerance for addicts and feels a pistol whip or a pill that turns them blue for a week is proper treatment for their need.

In looking for that job on the frontier a client of a friend knew of this guy Aekar that was looking for a doctor for some job.  They worked well together and Arani was able to even provide some extra value by brewing up some explosives (she doesn't know how to use explosives just make them) when the original stuff got pinched by a Rodian.  He's invited her along to this current operation to be the doctor and chemist.

So I am still bouncing it around in my head to make this character a male or female. It will depend on how many of each gender are made by the others and I will lean towards the less populous gender to fill in the gap.

(I should probably add that this character was approved)

https://imageshack.com/i/iqJ1c1jZj

Name: Kirax Icto

Age: 26

Species: Nautolan

Gender: Male

Height: 5'7”

Weight: 160lbs

Abilities: Skilled at canibalizing parts from one machine/weapon/equipment piece to create another, Jurry rigging devices, creating improvised ones if needed. A nack for simply knowing what needs to go where to make something work, Things like explosives, Weapons, He even put together a hoverbike once from scratch. Granted it wasn't the most reliable piece or the prettiest. But it went fast and served it's purpose.
Blaster use (moderate, hardly an ace shot but comfortable enough with a pistols use to do his fair share),
Heightened olfactory and pheromone-sensing skills, enhanced by head-tresses(handy for telling if someone is lying to you, Or their true feelings in general)

Specialty: Engineering/Jury rigging.

Equipment: DE-10 Blaster pistol, 2 extra power packs, Holster, Small pack of tools for general tinkering work,( Small and fine detail hand welder, Wrenches, Etc.), Combat knife (Mostly used as a tool for prying, severing, and shifting but in a pinch... well it is still a knife)

Biography: One of the rare handful of Nautolan's that bothered to leave their homeworld of Glee Anselm. Even fewer given the Rise of the empire and their anti-alien sentiments.

But there are still the rare few who due to the invincibility and marvelous arrogance of youth decide to either ignore such warnings from their fellows or think that somehow it will not apply to them specifically and they will simply be able to stroll along through the barricades that only effect other people. And that is were Kirax makes his appearance. Born to a family with a legacy of very light force sensativity. Not enough to become a jedi but enough to join the ranks of religious orders of the Salai Kasi. Until it was disbanded and it;s members killed almost to the man by the Empire.

The amount of force sensitivity in the family seemed to fade more and more every few generations and Kirax is one of the newer generation of the family showing no force sensetivity at all. Which is why Kirax himself never became trained in the order. But he and his family were still affected heavily by it's destruction. That is the main driving force behind him leaving the home world and venturing out into the galaxy proper. While the Empire and official channels may have provided one story as to their death. There were rumors and whispers of other motivations and causes. It was these rumours that Kirax left home to root out.

Surprisingly it did not take long at all to learn the truth of the matter. Between underground sources and the republic always willing to spread the truth about the empire's misdeeds. He quickly learned of rumours of two surviving members who had taken to hiding. Though their names were not known as to whether they could be family or simply fellow Nautolans. He felt the need to pursue them and find out. If only so he could return home with confirmed news of their fates. His search for answers led him to several planets, He took up work with the rebellion often in exchange for travel and whatever information they could spare. He was more than happy to give the Empire a few headaches and black-eyes on whatever planets he happened to stop at. Putting a smile on his face and earning him some mild respect amongst the rebellion channels.

His current work with the rebellion has taken his to an out of the way hovel of a planet called Kevaan III where he was given a handful of names to make contact with upon arrival. In exchange for his work here the rebellion offered to dig up more info and possible locations of the two possible surviving relatives and send word to himself and back home.
Hi i'm a polymorphic alien who has taken the form of this signiature to have sex with your pupils, and by the smile on your face I can tell your enjoying it.

Warlock

Name: Emil Corde

Age:   26

Species:   Human

Gender:  Male

Height:   5' 8''

Weight:  170 lbs

Abilities:   First Aid, Physiology, Chemistry, Herbology, Pharmacuticals, Blaster Proficency, Basic medical skills (including surgury, anesthesia, diagnosis, etc), spelunking, military traning, limping

Specialty:  Field Medic

Equipment:  Basic medical equipment, E-11 Blaster, Medical hand-held computer, Medical license, assortment of breath masks and filters, spelunking equipment.

Biography: Neon lighted skyscrapers, touching the heavens of Coruscant, and the wider galaxy was Emil's first sight with his newborn eyes. He recived a blessing with his mother's dying kiss, that she'd watched over him and guide him through life. Compensating for the loss of his wife, Emil's father, Myr, worked himself to death 15 years after Emil's birth. It had been something both of them had in the end seen comming and accepted after many heated discussions and tears shed. Leaving behind him a sizable fund, with little debt to speak of, and Emil's fortune in being granted a scholarship allowed him to enroll in a prestigous imperial acadamy, studying with dreams of becoming a doctor. He had been gifted with his mother's healing touch and warm heart.

His heart strings were pulled as he heard more tales of imperial veterans returning from active duty, the galaxy stabilizing under Palpetine's iron rule, and he shifted his attention  and studies toward the battlefield, military training, field medic with the dream of wearing white stormtrooper armor and protect and aid those in need. Even with a hint of single minded obsession, he failed his test to become one of the Emperor's elites and instead joined the regular corps.

Inital training was quickly completed, mostly repetition from his days at the acadamy, and he was immediatly deployed with a forward unit on a primitive planet. There was a single second of deep regret before an extermination of the innocent natives begun, made short work by imperial weaponry. Defiant in the end they still managed to inflict some casulties and wounds, with Emil's left leg was badly ruptured by a stray gunpowder bullet as he had huddled above the body of a severly injured comrade, who died screaming as Emil was forced to retreat. The illusion of a benevolent empire was forever shattered for him and he used his injured leg as an excuse for a discharge  and resignation.

Not wanting to stay too close to the empire, Emil searched for new work at its borders and decided upon the planet Kevaan III, thinking a doctor with his skills could be useful among the mine workers and the hazards they faced. Barely a year had passed, after which he'd found a new hobby in climbing and navigating the tight caves passages in an effort to get used to his working enviroment, when Emil was contacted by a man named Aekar, who wanted his services and skills in a fight against the empire. Emil humbly accepted, feeling elavated at having a new goal in life.

Strangefate

It seems like the roster of rebels must be filling out fairly well at this point.  Is there any room for PC controlled villains or is that purely going to be GM territory for this one?  I wouldn’t mind playing a space Nazi Imperial or two, even if it was just a limited sort of deal.  :-)
