Doubled emails per post on followed threads

So I signed up for notifications and emails for a group game I'm in, and for any post that quotes a previous post, I get an email for the post. If I open it quickly, I see the post without a quote. And then I'll get another email shortly after, and if I open that I'll see the post with the quote. At first I thought the users were posting and then posting again with a quote, but it's happened for a few different people so I don't think that's it.
