Okay. This is something new for me, so please bear with me, (or bare with me if you're comfortable) as I lay bare my idea.

Some of you may recognize the post title as the title of Paizo's currently running published adventure path, Wrath of the righteous. Now my idea is to run this adventure path, with some tweaking.

This adventure path will make use of the mythic rules later on, but starts out with the standard character creation rules. Well one of the standards anyway.

Level 1.
No evil characters
1) 25 point-buy for attributes, no score above 18 or below 7, before racial adjustments.
2) Races allowed: Core races are automatically accepted, any other races (Only those of 15RP or less) will be handled on a case by case basis
3) Classes allowed: All Paizo published except Gunslinger, Summoner, Ninjas and Samurais. (Advanced class guide again on a case by case)
4) No Campaign trait (but see seeds of a myth below).
5) No other traits, but two extra feat taken from the following list: Acrobatic, Alertness, Animal Affinity, Athletic, Breadth of Experience, Cosmopolitan, Deceitful, Deft Hands, Fast Learner, Great Fortitude, Iron Will, Lightning Reflexes, Magical Aptitude, Persuasive, Self-Sufficient, Stealthy, Skill Focus.
6) Your skill selection should reflect, to an extent, your current occupation in Kenabres.
7) Average starting cash.

Humble Beginnings
The gods are whimsical some would say, others would claim that none can fathom their greater plan. Though you are destined for greatness, your upbringing and current occupation don’t reflect that higher calling. Though you came to Kenabres to serve in the Crusade, things have not turned out for the best as of yet. You might be working in a seedy kitchen cleaning dishes, behind a bar serving drinks, walking the beat chasing small time crooks, pulling cheap prestidigitation tricks as a street performer, doing shabby translations of dusty tomes in a small library, prostituting yourself in a small brothel or cleaning houses to earn a living. You have not reached your potential, and have started to lose hope, thinking that your contribution will never make it into the history books.

The Seed of a Myth
The six campaign traits in the book are linked to the six mythic tiers, but I prefer them to be just roleplaying aids, so you can pick one regardless of your intended mythic path.

Chance Encounter: You once found yourself behind enemy lines in the Worldwound. You probably never would have made it back home if not for the help of a mysterious woman who helped you trick your way through a group of cultists. The woman never told you her name, but you remember her beauty and a deep sense of sadness she seemed to carry with her. She wore a symbol of Desna and often held onto it without seeming to realize it. She left your side a few moments before you were picked up by a patrol of crusaders, and you’ve never seen her again.
Child of the Crusade: Members of your family have long been members of the crusade. The righteousness of the crusades sometimes feels as if it runs in your very blood, and it bolsters you against demonic influence. Your parents’ zeal and devotion to the crusade is the primary reason you feel the same way.
Exposed to Awfulness: When you were a child, you were nearly slain by a demon that managed to make its way through the wardstones into the lands beyond. The demon was slain before it could kill you, but you lingered at death’s door in a coma for weeks before waking. Ever since then, you’ve been unusually hale and hearty, as if your body had endured its brush with awfulness by becoming supernaturally fit. But still, the scars (whether physical or purely mental) of your brush with death remain, and nightmares of what could have happened often plague your sleep.
Riftwarden Orphan: You bear a strange birthmark on your body—something you’ve learned is the Sign of the Seeker’s Spiral, a rune associated with the secret society known as the Riftwardens. You have researched this rune, and have learned that the mark sometimes appears on the children of Riftwardens who have been exposed to particularly strange planar energies. Unfortunately, you never knew your parents, for you were raised by a foster family.
Stolen Fury: You were forced to take part in a demonic ritual as a youth after having been captured by cultists. Whatever the ritual’s purpose may have been, it didn’t work out the way your captors envisioned before you escaped to safety. Ever since, you’ve been haunted by strange nightmares about the ritual, and have long felt that the energies it bathed you in have changed you.
Touched by Divinity: As long as you can remember, you’ve had an unexplainable interest in one deity in particular. You’ve always felt calm and at ease in places holy to the deity, and often have dreams about the god or goddess visiting you—most often in the form of a sacred animal or creature.

What I'd expect from players:
- Posting speed: minimum of three posts a week, preferably more (slow posting is the source of campaigns dying in my experience)
- Posting length: This being a system game, some posts will be no more than mechanics, but try to make RP posts at least four or five lines unless a short post is more logical.
- Inform: If you are going to be posting less for a period, please inform me. A pm is sent quite quickly.
- Interest: This campaign can take a few months, please do not apply if you do not intend to stick with it. (things can happen, but I'd hate to disappoint a player for someone who bails in a week or two.

Applications must contain the following.

- Filled out Character sheet. (Myth-weavers has a free online one, that does most of the math for you.)
- Character image. (please make sure this is allowed to be used for non commercial purposes, or if it's your own work, submitting it will give me the right to use it as such. (As I'll be using your images on maps and such)
- Background. This for me will be the most important selection criterium. A helpful tool might be the free wrath of the righteous player's guide available from Paizo itself.
- Mythic path choice. (You can find more info on this on the pathfinder SRD.

Any other questions please ask here. I will pick a maximum of five players, I might start another table in the future, but for now I'm sticking with one.

#1
Name: Ness
Class: Sorcerer
Race: Human
Seed of a Myth: Child of the Crusade
Mystic Path: Archmage

Background:
The demonic invasion and the ensuing pillaging and slaughter of the demons took its toll on families. Mothers, fathers, and children all wiped out within moments, and the number of refugees escaping from the towns-turned-to-battlefields was immense. Soldiers returned home missing limbs and more, changed forever from the struggle. But some brought back something from the battlefield. One soldier in particular brought something back to his wife that he never could have imagined--a child, orphaned and alone towards the end of the Third Crusade.

Jarl brought back the boy, and his wife Melna who had already suffered three miscarriages at the hands of the gods, welcomed the boy. The two decided to raise him as their own--after all, the orphanages were packed and could handle few more, and were dirty places with little food, and the two were able to have no children of their own. With this matter settled, Jarl resolved not to go to war again--after all, the demons had been pushed back, right? That had been the second, and final crusade... or so he thought.

Ness, as the couple named him, had been too young to remember his own family. Despite the love that his new parents showered him with, he was bullied mercilessly by the other kids who could tell there was something... a little off about him. As though he were not entirely human, as though he were marked somehow. Slowly becoming an outcast, the child grew gruff and dour, closed off to the world... until he learned what power his speech could have. Placing groups of children against each other with a carefully placed word, causing discord and shifting the center of attention from him, he slowly became confident and slowly began to form him own group.

Enjoyment at being the center of attention, Ness grew up and slowly his arcane powers came into their own. He was able freeze children in place, cause them harm when he needed to, with a wave of his hand and a pointed finger. Yet all that ended when he went too far and hurt a child seriously. His parents heard of his deed, and he was kept in-doors for a time, yet the guilt of hurting another to that extent weighed heavily on his soul. He was a changed person when he returned to the groups, and focused on joining the others together rather than tearing them apart.

This continued for many years until the Fourth Crusade started. Already a young man, Ness heard from of the demons coming together to tear apart everything he knew and held dear. With a weary sigh, his Father, Jarl, declared that he would stop the demons at their doorstep and protect his family, and despite Ness's pleads forbid the young man to join them. He left, and that was the last they had heard of him.

And then the demons came, swift and with a mighty roar. Ness tried to get his friends and mother to safety, but watched as one by one they were cut down. Just before he himself was about to be struck down by a brutish demon bearing an infernal weapon the counterattack began. The army had arrived, and were able to push back the invasion, but the cost was almost unbearable. Despondent and left with little, Ness left his ruined home, the second time in his life that he found himself with nothing.

Leaving with the army to the city of Kenabres, Ness vowed that he would do whatever was in his power to stop the demons. He needed to get stronger, strong enough to stop them and end the menace there and then. For now he works in one of the city's markets as a trader of sorts, hawking wares and enjoying a glass of mead in the evenings, all the while hearing the sounds of dissent in the inns. But one day, one day he vows to help end the menace and punish the demons that took everything away from him--twice.

Hehe, I love to see it from the other side of the GM's Screen, but I'll save it for another time. Definitely going to keep an eye on this though to see how it goes.

Chreestafer

I'd love to try this out personally, ill pm you later with some questions.   I've never done a systems rp via E Forums.  Yeah I quit rather love pathfinder! So count me interested :)

I'm interested. Now I gotta figure out what character is suitable for a mythic game... :)

I'm also interested, so long as you are ok with one who is not as familiar with the PF rules as most.

Right. FYI, I'm using Hero Labs to set mine up - so the sheet might be plain text, but the math will function.
How much of the Player's Guide for Wrath of the Righteous should we be taking seriously? - ETA, nevermind, teach me for not reading more closely.

Deji is a fixture in the small chapel, scribing letters, official documents of all sorts and anything else she is paid to write. Her handwriting is exsquisite, her calligraphy only matched by that of a professional and... ever her stray attention is elsewhere.
She remembers a time before Kenabres, and the years after, but the getting there - the getting there has some gaps in it. The woman... her voice. A brush of silk, like the wings of a butterfly as black as the space between the stars. Shrieks of some horrible /thing/. Human cries of agony mixed in with a voice... Deji has tried to forget that voice.

Years of her life, spent trying to be content with her lot in life, rarely speaking but always listening, Deji has spent much of her free time looking for answers, only to find that, within Kenabres, there is nothing.
The time she does not spend searching, or earning a living, she spends practicing - the old crossbow is worn, but the wood gleams with the polish of frequent use. So her only targets are disks of rattan on strings - she knows that the faster those horrors fall, the better - so, she practices until the weapon is as one with her hands, and prays it still will be if the target still breathes after a shot.

I got halfway through making a Witch, when I realized I should really ask whether or not I CAN be a Witch before expending all this effort, since some GM's really dislike them. Though, I also have a concept for a Magus if something more punchy is still needed. I can really go either way at this point, lol.

@Muse: There is no harm in applying. I can't promise a spot to everyone, simply because games like this are immensely popular. However, if the group I ultimately pick, keeps up the posting, and people don't go lost before even starting, I'll probably start up a second table.

@Latooni: In the first post I wrote down the classes I didn't want, and they have very specific reasons. Witches I don't mind as long as you uphold the alignment restriction. A magus is fine too.

@Chreestafer: The animal companion restrictions are simply if they have stats as animal companion in a paizo book there's a table on this page http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/animal-companions which lists all the published animal companions. Just for your info, Kenabres is in a temperate zone bordering the subarctic, and landlocked. Like Scandinavia, or inland Canada

It wouldn't be an anti-demonic campaign without a poor, good Tiefling out to prove she's not a monster. Well . . . okay, she's a cook that gets dragged into something WAY over her head, but luckily for her she has an adorable kitten looking out for her. :)

Miriel

Name: Miriel
Race: Tiefling (Elf)
Class: Witch

http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=770279

Appearance:

Miriel has extremely exotic looks considering her unusual parentage, though she is surprisingly petite. She stands at a mere 5'0" with a somewhat weak build, though has some very womanly curves that many would be jealous of. Her hair is stark white and VERY long, reaching clear down past her firm bottom, though has an ever-present frizz to it that annoys the young cook to no end. Her skin is a healthy bronze color with almost no blemishes to speak of, stave for the birthmark of the Seeker's Spiral on the small of her back. She has a long prehensile tail just below the mark, but above her buttocks, and a pair of swept-back horns on her head that further mark her as born of demons. Her eyes are an unusual amber color, but soft and expressive, rather than harsh and imposing. Despite her naturally sultry looks she purposefully dresses down in simple peasant garb, knowing full well that being accused of being a succubus would end QUITE poorly.

Background: Miriel is a young woman of elven descent, born and raised in Kanabres . . . as well as a tiefling. To her knowledge her mother had been an elven traveller that had been attacked by cultists or demons, and become impregnated, staying in town only long enough to give birth. For whatever reason she couldn't stay in the town, nor could she take the child with her, so she asked local priests of Sarenrae to take her in and protect her from the less-than-kind sentiments of people in the town towards those with demon blood. Thankfully, the priests did indeed raise her, doing their best to instill a sense of honor and empathy in their new ward. Unfortunately, no matter how good of a girl you are, there are always people that insist on judging you by your looks.

Miriel was a bullied child, treated poorly for her demonic features, though never bad enough that she had any lasting injuries. While there are always bounty hunters and cruel people willing to hurt a tiefling, few had been willing to hurt one under the care of the church of Sarenrae to-date. Rather than make Miriel grow up jaded though, she learned to be clever and use words and speed to disarm situations. While there was always the stigma against her, she did her best to be charming and diplomatic, and talk her way out of trouble. As she grew up she got a job working in the back of a popular tavern as a cook, preparing the food the ever-increasing amount of warriors relied on to keep themselves strong. Around the same time she gained a 'friend', an unusual little cat with fur the same color as her long white locks, and eerie amber eyes . . . the cat appeared to want nothing more than to stay near the young woman, sneakily teaching her arcane secrets and instructing her in matters of history and other worlds. Nothing was ever said between them, but the cat had a habit of leading her to more . . . interesting books in the library.

Muse

Mercy
--The Babe on the Temple Doorstep
--The Dancing Paladin
--The Dreamer on the Wall
--The Whimsical Shieldmaiden

Though she was raised in a temple of the severe, heroic, and vigilant goddess Iomedae, the foundling child the mother superior named Mercy never met with much approval as an acolyte.  Though fit and skilled at arms, she was an incompetent acolyte, lacing in discipline and vigilance.  She daydreamed through her studies, slipped away from prayer vigils to dance in the rain, and spent more time with the old mage Hemmingway than with her instructors in religion.

Even her arms master—who frequently spoke up in her defense on account of the fact that she excelled under her tutelage in ways she’d never begun to as a priestess, began to grow vexed with Mercy when she chose for her war gear a chainmail bikini and beat up old greatsword heavier than most girls her age could lift.

The mother superior strictly disapproved of the whimsical foundling’s attitudes and prepared the temple to bid their prodigal sister farewell on her eighteenth birthday…

One woman, though, in all the world believed in Mercy.  One woman saw her pure heart.  One woman saw that she whiled away her hours in fantasies of vanquishing evil, aiding the weak, and protecting all goodly folk.

That woman was Iomedae, and on her eighteenth birthday she blessed Mercy as her paladin.

Don't suppose I could persuade you to add Open Minded to that bonus feat list?

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed/feats/open-minded

Open minded is a third party feat, and as such not part of the list.

The reason I don't do third party materials is because a lot of those materials have never really been checked for balance or even properly play tested. Some of them most likely have, but it's almost impossible to find out which are. This is mainly true for the psionic classes and abilities. Though I admit that open minded seems fairly balanced for a feat, being a duplicate of the 'skilled' racial trait, and I would accept it as a regular feat, the feats in the list were chosen because of their power level.

In short, I'll think about allowing the feat on a one off basis, due to the character concept

Also, please note I can't locate your racial feature choice on the character sheet.

Oh.  :)  not quite done yet.

I also have a few more skill points to spend even without Open Minded.

(I always understood that Dreamscarred Press wasn't particularly third party.  More like Paizo didn't have the resources to publish the psoinics stuff, so licensed it to them.)

But I'm not complaining.  :) I'll find another feat.

EndofDivine

Character: Marishka
Trait: Chance Encounter
Mythic Path: Heirophant
Personality: "It's as afraid of you as you are of it" describes her general interactions with humans pretty well. She's very much aware that people don't trust her and likely even outright hate her just because of what she is. The holy symbol of Sarenrae is displayed prominently on her shield and around her neck to at least make the more overzealous humans hesitate long enough for her to explain herself. Because of her heritage she often times has to work twice as hard as anyone else to earn the respect of her peers - something she doesn't really mind. Her trials are a penance of sorts for her, a way to prove to herself that she's truly put her past behind her. She views her demon kin mostly with pity and seeks to help those who can be saved.

Background

Bodies writhed in a tangled mess of demonic flesh, each of them clawing at one another just to pull themselves closer to the top of the pile and the mouth of the pit. Marishka was one of the thousands that knew only that miserable existence. She was little more than an animal, one trained to know only contempt for the mortals that walked the surface. As far as her demonic overlords were concerned, she was another solider, expendable and easily replaced. They all were.

A panicked gasp escaped from Marishka as she shot up out of her bed, heart racing from the images playing in her head. Her hands slid across her face, eventually brushing against the rough surface of her horns, reminding her that it wasn't a nightmare - it was a memory. Putting her past behind her seemed an almost insurmountable task and the villagers of Kenabres seemed almost too eager to remind her of her heritage at times. But still she tries to put it all behind her, no matter how difficult it has all been for her.

Her new life started with a smile and an extended hand that offered help to a pitiful creature cowering in an alley. Her kind had ransacked the village only to be intercepted by crusaders and quickly slaughtered. Even though all she had to look forward to was a life of continued suffering, Marishka still clung to life, hiding amongst the rubble and hoping that no one would find her. But she did. She was beautiful, an angel in human form, her teeth practically glowing amongst the destruction and flames as she lowered her weapon. She could have killed her - probably even should have - but instead the woman showed Marishka something she wasn't even aware existed: kindness.

Marishka attached herself to the woman like a lost puppy, completely enamored with every little quirk and every movement the woman that spared her life made. Her savior was perfect in every way possible and Marishka wanted nothing more than for the moment to last forever. It wasn't to be, however. The woman signaled to other humans, spoke in her alien tongue, and soon Marishka was being pulled to her feet by two armored males and harshly escorted away. Marishka's eyes never left the woman that remained behind, even as the woman's attention turned back to the ruined village. It would be the last time Marishka ever saw her.

The church of Sarenrae took her in and treated her almost as if she were a person. It was a painful and lonely life at first. Her body told her she didn't belong in this place; she couldn't explain it but it simply felt wrong. She had to will herself to enter the chapel or look upon Sarenrae's holy symbols and the sun itself caused her discomfort to no end. But she endured it all, just for the chance to see her again. At least that was her motivation at first.

Marishka became attached to her life among humans and even found herself feeling the same attachment to a few individuals among their kind. Her years serving Sarenrae enlightened her and opened her mind to concepts like self-sacrifice, empathy, and compassion. Her infatuation with the woman that had opened her eyes turned to respect and Marishka soon began modeling herself to become a servant of good using the best example she could think of; the way she wore her hair, the way she walked, the way she smiled, and the way she carried herself were all taken from the woman she owed everything to.

These days she feels like a completely different person, almost unable to comprehend that the figure in her nightmares is actually herself. Sarenrae saw fit to bless her with her gift as her thoughts and actions became increasingly more selfless. Marishka desires to return to the lands where she was reborn and extend the same mercy she was shown in the past to those like herself and to become to them what that woman from so many years ago has been to her.

my character: Sevryn Salryn

Alternate Photos

Race: half-elf
Age: 43 (which is young for a half-elf)
Class: Fighter
Alignment: Neutral
Mythic Path: Exposed to Awfulness
Background:

Sevryn grew up an orphan for as long as he could remember.  The head of the orphanage knew of Sevryn's father, a grand warrior in the lands, so when the older man came to town with a child in his arms he begged and pleaded for his sons safety, he had matters to attend to. The warrior left the town never to return, and soon the years passed and Sevryn grew older.  Sevryn wasn't the strongest and most nimble of children, quit frail actually, and he was often picked on about his slightly pointed ears.  This often resulted in many fights which lead to many different disciplinary actions, and a subtly resentment of authority.  However, all in all, Sevryn wasn't a bad child and the taunting just made him a more resilient half-elf.  That was till the night of the fire.

Sevryn was 17 when a massive group of demons invaded the town decimating many things in their path.  One of these things was the very orphanage the half-elf called his home.  The came in the night, and shrill shrieks soon drowned the screams of terror out as they went about killing.  Sevryn wouldn't have any of this, so with a few other kids, they stood their ground against the small band of demons.  This of course didn't end well, and soon the building was blazing with flames as blood decorated the walls all about.  Sevryn, badly injured, attempted to make his way out of the building but was soon stopped with a clawed foot on his chest.  He closed his eyes knowing this was the end,  however as he did the building collapsed and all went numb, silent and dark.

Morning did come as the raid was sent scampering away, and search parties were organized for the living.  Sevryn was found, unconscious yet still alive, and after days of sleeping and healing he awoke.  Life wasn't as grand as it seemed though, when the half-elf woke he found himself scared with burns and gashes from the fire and the demons. Yet above all he couldn't see, somehow the mixture of heat, blood, and ash permanently blinded the boy.  He lived for years afterwards begging in the streets and finding what odd jobs he could to survive.  When souly alone he would train and practice as his heart felt only vengeance on the creatures that hurt him.  He found an old abandoned farm house and with some old farm tools he did the best training a blind man could.

Okay,

First of all thanks to everyone for these wonderful applications, it was incredibly hard to choose a party from them.

I came up with the following party.

Muse
Andi
Endofdivine
Latooni Subota
Thorne

I've decided to run a second group starting somewhere end of next week, so I'll reopen recruitment for that group. I'm hoping to get one or two more people to join that group.

Recruitment is prolonged for group two

Background: Graeg was the son of a whore. At least so he was told during his youth. The versions varied, his mother was a whore who bedded a demon, or his mother was a demon who seduced a man, but either way the words were never kind to him. He began to hate his mother, his father, and anyone even remotely associated with demons, devils, or their ilk. So when the call came out that hands were needed to fight in the latest crusade, he could not join up soon enough! Glory would be his! His skill with a blade was superb, and despite those who called him demon and asked which side he planned to fight for, he knew in his heart he could make a difference!

As of late, he's stopped wanting to make a difference. When he arrived, they didn't pit him in battles. They barely gave him a room, and had him cleaning up after officers at first. Then when he insisted that his physical prowess was being wasted, they started him shoveling shit to earn his keep. He longs for something to break the monotony, and has begun taking classes from the barmaids that he might serve drink in a tavern rather than sling crap about. He keeps himself immaculately clean despite his day job, and finds the time at night to aid the less fortunate before camping out beneath the stars. There must be something more, though. Graeg knows there is a reason he was called here, and it certainly has nothing to do with what they're tormenting him with.

In time, will he be able to prove his lineage is not his destiny? Will he make a name for himself? Will his be the blade that seals the worldwound?

Curious, is the second still group potentially happening?
